valentines special featuring ahn yujin!
summary- yujin just wanted to find treasure for her beloved but she found a wife instead.
warnings- angry chaewon, swearing, a sprinkle of violence, mention of sickness, yujin and reader are so down bad for e/o.
author's note- happy valentines to all the singles out there!
it was a fairly sunny day in the fairy meadows which were home to thousands of garden fairies.
yujin poked her head out of the bush she was hiding in. she knew that an elf's intrusion in the fairies' safe heaven wouldn't be taken lightly and so she made sure to keep herself hidden.
she perked up as a melodious voice entered into her elven ears. she poked her head out once again just in time to see the fairy who held her affection.
yujin giggled when she saw her fairy pick up the little treasure she had collected for her. she once again hid herself before sneakily running back to her tree house.
y/n yawned as she woke up. she looked out her window to see the shiny rays of the sun illuminating her garden, showering her fruits and vegetables in its warmth.
"she should be here by now" the fairy mumbled as she ruffled her wings and made her way out of the cottage. she glanced around, before she finally found what she was searching for.
on the green grass surrounding her cottage, laid a silver soda cap. it was nothing new, the fairy was accustomed to finding soda caps in her garden everyday by now and yet she let out a tiny squeal.
her noise of excitement was followed by a tiny giggle which y/n knew belonged to the notorious elf who seemed to drop soda caps in her garden everyday.
y/n watched in amusement as the poorly hidden elf scurried off to God knows where. a giggle escaping her lips at the elf's fruitless attempt at being stealthy.
"why don't you just reveal yourself you little minx, I want to see my secret admirer" the fairy pouted before dragging her feat back to her cottage with a new soda cap to add to her growing collection.
back in her tree house, yujin was busy pacing around. nose red, eyes swollen and cheeks puffy with tears rolling down continuously.
noises of despair filled tree house as the elf let out choked sobs. she couldn't believe her misfortune. she was going to lose the love of her life.
another sob found its way out of yujin's mouth as she threw herself on her bed, crying into her pillow.
on the other side of the same house, a tiny elf grumbled under her breath as a string of curses left her mouth.
chaewon's temper raised with every sob that yujin let out. she let out a groan before marching up to the crying elf's room.
now, if it was any other day, chaewon would have knocked and asked yujin what was wrong but not today.
it was valentines day for Pete's sake! chaewon was supposed to be cuddling with her girlfriend but she just had to catch a stupid cold, leading minju to send her back home to take rest.
the stupid cold already ruined chaewon's day and yujin's unstoppable crying was making it worse.
chaewon had to summon all the patience she had left in order to not break down yujin's door and sew her mouth shut.
the angry elf took a deep breath before she barged inside and made her way to the bed. she pulled on the other elf's ear making her cries stop momentarily.
yujin looked upto chaewon with her puffy eyes, her form quivering under the shorter elf's menacing glare.
"go away, I don't want to talk to you right now" she huffed.
"oh my Pete! shut up! first you nearly damage my ears with your wailing and now you're ordering me to GO AWAY?? I WILL COOK YOU LIKE AN EGG AND FEED YOU TO THE HUMANS IF YOU LET OUT ANOTHER WORD"
chaewon's screeching left the crying elf speechless as she quickly scurried away from the fuming elf. her eyes reflecting the fear casted on her by the shorter.
"good! now that you have finally calmed the fuck down, mind telling me the reason for this breakdown? AND DONT YOU DARE CRY AGAIN OR I'LL SCOOP YOUR EYEBALLS OUT WITH A SPOON"
yujin's body quivered as the shorter elf flashed her a smile which could only be described as evil. she fumbled with her words before answering, not wanting to anger the elf any further.
"well...I can't find any treasure for my fairy anymore"
"treasure?" chaewon tilted her head staring at the puppy like elf.
"what do you mean by treasure? what is it? ooohhh is it gold?! can I see it?! pleaseeee"
"no dumbass, it's not gold. my fairy likes the shiny things. I saw her pick one of those shiny things and keep it in her pocket once! that's why I made sure to find one for her everyday! but today when I went to the human land to search for the shiny things, I couldn't find one"
yujin's voice deflated as her eyes teared up once again.
before the elf could start her waterworks again, the short elf distracted her, not wanting to deal with the crying elf once again.
"then why don't you give her some other shiny thing? something that's even more shiny than the treasure you speak of. or maybe you could finally reveal yourself! it's valentines after all! you could even take her on a date!!"
yujin let out a gasp as her eyes widened. she looked at chaewon gratefully before rushing up to her wardrobe.
"I can't believe YOU came up with such a good plan! I must go take a bath now, can't have my beloved think I'm some nasty elf with snot running down my face. must look good for my beloved!"
back at the fairy meadows, the young fairy was getting impatient. it was way past the usual time and her elf still hadn't came.
she stomped her foot on the ground before going back to her garden. a pout evident on her face as she tended to her plants.
just as the fairy was about to take her leave after hours of nurturing her plants, a rustle in the bush caught her attention.
she turned around just in time to see an elf peeking out of the bush, staring back at the fairy with a face so red it resembled an apple.
y/n giggled slightly before waving the elf over, her face getting equally as red. she let out a gasp as the elf rushed to meet her, stumbling over her own feet in the process.
she chuckled at the clumsy elf before going towards her and helping the elf up. her wings fluttering behind her as she tried to hide her amusement.
the elf couldn't help but stare at the hand the fairy had offered her. to others it may look like a simple gesture, but the elf could already hear the wedding bells going off in her head.
she shook her thoughts away as she finally accepted the fairy's hand. her face heating up even more at the feeling of the soft hand held against her own.
she allowed herself a moment to stare at her beloved's face before she got up and dusted her pants off.
"so you're the elf who has been gifting me the soda caps?"
"soda caps? ohh, you mean treasure! yes yes! it was me! did you like it?"
the fairy was sure that the elf's shy demeanor matched with her head tilt was going to be the end of her.
she had just formally met the elf but she knew she'd gladly die for her.
"I did. I really liked your treasures. I even collected them all. if you want, you can come inside my cottage and I'll show you where I kept them."
the wedding bells once again went off in yujin's head and she nodded enthusiastically before following the fairy.
she may not have found any treasure that day, but she definitely found a wife for herself.

ROUND 4 MATCH 5
Alistair propaganda:
“I love his puns and sarcasm. He may be kinda dumb and like the epitome of boring white boy to some people, but i just love the humour he brings to the party.”
"alistair was literally forced to live in the stables growing up because the man who had stewardship of him remarried and she didn't like him; he's a bastard prince and tries to keep it secret but is almost identical to the king and you meet those two within 5 minutes of one another; he finds a rose in the middle of a battlefield and thinks how impossible it was to find something so beautiful in somewhere so terrible and it reminds him of finding you - so he saves it to give it to you; he's 20 and if you tell him to he will take the throne (even though it's always been his greatest fear - he'll do it if you're at his side); he doesnt know he's a half elf and its possible for him to live in the same castle as his mother later; he notices she looks at him strangely but he never finds out why; he's doomed to die young and so are you"
Micah propaganda:
"I LOVE MICAH VOTE MICAH LOOK AT HIM HES SO you hack into his computer he hacks back into yours and the video calls are so funny, when you ask him what his favoritr food is he starts. telling you about being in a zombie apocalypse where he gets to eat your arm also he HE PLAYS THE CLOWN MUSIC AND FALLS OUT OF HIS CHAIR FOR A JOKE I LOVE HIM and he dyed his hair to match his cat. whats his cats name? skrunkly AND if you genuinly say 'yeah im uncomfy' he'll stop the call/game ends and its so SAD BUT HE RESPECTS YOUR BOUNDARIES AUGH and when he tries to be smooth he puts on some music and the player goes 'did you just put that on.' and he stops it and goes 'oh you heard -that?' AND he had a tongue piercing and tongue bifurcation its so cool! AND SHARP TEETH honestly whats not to love? OH OH also if you get the secret ending you just get to marry him i love him so much I FORGOT TO SHARE THAT HE'S VOICE ACTED TOO AND THE VA DOES A REALLY GOOD JOB"

The Perfect Present For Zhang Hao.
Tinker Fairy Ricky felt a little stressed, he kept looking at the construction plan, he knew how to do it but since it was such a special occasion he felt hesitant to just do it with whatever materials. “You’ve been looking at the same paper for an hour now.” One of Ricky’s Tinker Fairy mates said, “Why are you thinking so much about it? you do instruments faster than any other tinker fairy, what’s the matter?” Ni-ki said, while sitting down beside Ricky seeing the construction plan, “A violin? you could make that with your eyes closed.” “Yes I could but… we all agreed it needs to be perfect for Hao.” “What about… golden wood? There must be some left if you ask any scrap metal recovery fairy, it is not as shiny as the you know, magic one but it could work. ” Ricky heard this and immediately had an idea… he got up to where the rest of his friends were “Thank you Ni-ki! I have an idea.”
Ricky entered the Light Fairy side, where he found Matthew and Hanbin, “We need to go to the Elf’s Island to find golden wood, the magic golden woods that shines the most.” Hanbin and Matthew just looked at Ricky. “Hello to you too… What are you even saying?.” A very confused Hanbin looked at Ricky “See, I have the strings Jiwoong gave me from the cold side, that's perfect, then I have the metal Gyuvin and Yujin found and I can even paint details since Taerae got me the seed paint for that and Gunwook looked for some new tools to make it perfect but I still need one more thing for the body, wood, and that is perfect since you both you add a little sparkly spark light and it would work for Hao.” Matthew looked like he was thinking very hard “You know something don’t you.” Hanbin said while looking at Matthew “Yes, I went there once, the Elf’s Island, I went with Hao and-” “And your talents got exchanged.” Hanbin said remembering both Hao and Matthew asking for help “So we could go, if you know where it is.” Ricky said “Why would we put ourselves in dan-” “It’s for Hao.” Ricky interrupted Hanbin, making him take a deep breath. Ricky was right, his other half that he will love ever and evermore deserved the best materials, even if that went against pretty much everything he teaches everyday about danger. “You got me there… the three of us will go since you know how it looks, you know where the island is and I want to make sure… everything is okay.” A big smile formed in Ricky’s and Matthew’s face.
They arrived at the island, a little tired since it was far away. As soon as they got down the Elf Matthew saw the last time was there, “Again I see you brave guy… I think I don’t have to repeat what will happen.” “I know it perfectly.” The three of them were about to cross the golden barrier. “But wait… if our talents get exchanged and Hanbin is here, how can we go back to normal? One of us will also be a pixie dust fairy.” Matthew said before entering. “Why don’t you stay-” “I will not stay outside are you crazy.” Hanbin interrupted Ricky “I know who to call… just let’s go.” “Are you scared?” Matthew asked Hanbin “Of course not.” Hanbin affirmed, seconds after he said this the Elf made a noise, making Hanbin jump in fear “I feel super glad you are not scared.” Ricky said looking at a very scared Hanbin behind him. “Let’s go, we have no time.” Hanbin said getting up, trying to be his best brave self.
As soon as they entered it happened, now Matthew was a Tinker Fairy, Hanbin a Light Fairy and Ricky a Pixie Dust Fairy. “What am I? What is…” “OUCH That hurts, stop doing that STOP MOVING THE LIGHT YOU ARE A LIGHT FAIRY.” Ricky said while covering his eyes since he was being blinded by the light Hanbin kept moving “HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO STOP, MATTHEW HOW DO I STOP” Matthew just laughed at the silly situation in front him, “First stop moving your hand, now just slowly move your hand away from the light.” Hanbin did so and it worked “Ah you see! Smart brain.” Matthew tried to remember the same path he followed before, turning around and finding the big treasure box he saw the last time, “There, things are there.” Matthew pointed to the box “Hanbin, move your hand to the light again, and slowly move it to the right, to see the box.” Hanbin nervously did so. “Ricky, you go down, you know how it looks.” “I would need a pixie dust fairy to make it shine to see if it is the real one.” Both Hanbin and Matthew looked at Ricky. “Why are you so- Oh right I am the Pixie Dust Fai- yes never mind I will go down.” Ricky just spent a few minutes up until he saw something he thought was the wood “HANBIN, HOW DO I MAKE YOUR MAGIC WORK.” “JUST GRAB A LITTLE PIXIE DUST YOU HAVE IN THE LITTLE BAG AND SPARKLE IT ON TOP” Ricky grabbed the wood and did that and it worked, it started shining just like it should. They went outside, but while going out of the island, a little wave of water hit Hanbin and Ricky “Nice!” “Oh… wet wings you both can’t fly now.” Mathew said “We don’t have time to wait until we are dry, what do we do?” A now very worried Hanbin said. The only dry one was Matthew, so perhaps if he could move them both to then kinda transport them through the water. “Perhaps if I get this thing.” Matthew grabbed a bunch of seaweed and an egg shelf to make a little boat “Do I sound like that all the time?” Ricky wondered by seeing Matthew acting and talking exactly like a tinker fairy. And with this invention, they could get back home.
As soon as they arrived they needed their talents back again, so they arrived at the place the pixie dust fairies were “Jay! I am so glad you are here, can you help us out?” Jay looked at Hanbin and his two friends a little confused, “Help with what? Why did you exchange outfits?” Hanbin explained as best as he could, Jay said yes, not really sure how to help, but he tried, he got his pixie dust and just like Hanbin did with Hao and Matthew that last time, they got back to normal.
The time of the party arrived, Ricky finished making the Violin, and went to the barrier so Jiwoong could cross safely, Hanbin added some shine to the Violin, and Matthew added a little bit of sunlight inside of it, so it shines everytime he plays it. Hanbin called the fairies that could organize it all the best, so it was perfect for his prettiest Wind Hao. It was a creation of all of Hao’s friends, for him.
Hao finally arrived at his party, feeling really happy to see all of his friends. They were standing in a very usual wait when they did this type of parties, from left to right it was Gyuvin, Jiwoong, Matthew, Yujin, Hanbin, Taerae, Ricky and Gunwook, there was a little space in the middle so he could come in and be there with them, the Golden Violin was on the table, ready to be played. Hao did so, it sounded beautiful and it was perfect for him.
“Thank you for this! It is the best present ever.” Hao felt all this happiness inside him having his friends there, and feelings loved by them. The perfect present was everything in front of him.

Ophelia’s Journal - The Tempest Elemental
After our day at the festival, we headed out on our mission to find Arkael. We set off with the group I described and the two aasimar women, Okja and Yujin came along as well much to my displeasure.
It was a bit awkward to start with as we don’t really know anything about each other and nobody seemed willing to offer much up. I’m grateful Thurid and Alfred were there at least. We stopped off at a small dwarven village called Helmingr and it was practically deserted aside from a few villagers and a group of guards, if you can call them that. They were sat around getting drunk at 8am and looked like they hadn’t picked up a weapon in a long time.
Yingol, the wood elf is quite a funny character. He seems to survive on alcohol alone and has a real issue with besting women at things. I’m not sure if he’s overcompensating or what but he certainly can’t fight the urge to show off wherever possible. This was proved once again when we reached Spor, a guard outpost, where we slept for a night. The rest of us were happy to just relax and play board games but Yingol couldn’t resist challenging a dwarven woman to a duel. He won by the skin of his teeth but was very proud of the fact.
Thurid and I had a chance to catch up and she asked me why I was acting strangely toward Okja and Yujin. I didn’t want to talk about it too much as you never know who might be listening in. I explained to her that I was angry that these two women show up to help even though they haven’t seen Ark in over 20 years. Why didn’t he ever tell us about them? And why should they care? Then again I probably shouldn’t care this much either but here I am.
At the outpost, they informed us that some sort of elemental had been blocking the path to The Bridge for a while now. We set off with this knowledge, knowing full well we would encounter it and have to try our best to stop it. Sure enough, after a few days travel the weather started to change dramatically, with high winds and storm clouds above us. We had to shuffle along in a line holding onto a rope so that we didn’t lose each other. At one point I tried opening my eyes and got a blast of thick snow in my face, it was horrible.
Suddenly out of nowhere I started hearing the others voices in my head and once I’d calmed myself that I wasn’t going mad, I realised Nani, the wizard, had cast some sort of telepathy spell so that we could hear one another. He is quite resourceful and I’m glad he came along on this expedition. I can’t remember who saw the huge elemental Tempest first but things happened very quickly and everyone jumped into the fight. I was immediately stunned by lightening. I was immobilised for a long while, unable to do anything but look on in panic as everybody else launched their attacks.
Once I could move again I did my best to help but as the stupid thing was floating 30 feet up in the air, I was pretty useless. All I could do was use my cleric magic to try and deal some damage but it took us a long time to defeat it. At one point some of the others who were in the air got knocked back by a strong wind and got caught in the trees. Okja and Yujin were knocked so far back that we couldn’t even see where they’d gone.
When the fight was over, the elemental fell down and crash through the ice. The fog and snow started to die down. Alfred peered into the freezing water and said that he could see something glinting and then Yingol dived in like an idiot to retrieve it. I’ll be honest I was pretty impressed when he resurfaced with the items, some sort of gem and cog. Alfred and Nani immediately started analysing what he’d found so we left them to it. Yingol mentioned that we should go and look for the two clerics but I personally think we should just carry on without them...

Some shit
So I know @dollycoffee recently got shit for his doll modifications. I know @sicktress has also gotten shit for aaaages about her mods. @myrretah has gotten shit for her mods. I had a full blown arguement with my old roommate and a mutual friend about my mods. I've seen the hate for a few years about modifications too. My very first doll got modified (and is included on this list), the day I got him, in 2011, and I haven't stopped since. So here ya fuckers go. A list of all the dolls I own that have been modified. There are things I don't own anymore not included (a ResinSoul Jun, full doll, that was dyed, and a Angel of Dream head that was completely resculpted) and a doll that is currently en route (doll chateau 70cm boy body with the bone wings) that is getting heavily modified too.
Jaide - Dream of Doll Idol torso and FL F70 legs. The mobility joint peanuts from the Dream of doll legs, and the thighs of the F70 legs were modified to fit together. Dream of Doll is out of business, and the F70 line has been discontinued.
David - Migidoll Cynical Yujin with elf ear mods. The C.Yujin is limited.
Cal - Dream of Doll Idol Black Elf Sha. His mods are incomplete, but his whole self is being sanded to hide the dremel marks from a bad seam-removal. The Black Elf Sha was a limited color, and Dream of Doll has gone out of business. He also has Spiritdoll Proud Hands, which have been dyed brown.
Teirnan - Dollzone B60-004 body, which has had the torso joints completely re-sculpted for movement. The 60-04 body has been discontinued and is very hard to find.
Heidi - Luts Delf Claus with a mouth-opening mod and removable tooth plate added. I don't believe the Claus is limited.
Gin- Fairyland MNF Motion-Line boy body whose neck has been cut down and modified with Apoxie to be used with a doll chateau Bella head.
Josh - Doll Leaves body, with torso mobility mods, not limited.
Aki - Fairyland MNF A-Line normal boy body, torso mobility mods, not limited
Charlotte - Luts NS Xia head with vampire teeth added. Limited.
Julian - Doll Family A Practice Head, major facial structure mods, tear ducts added, lips filled in. May have been regular release but is currently discontinued.
Terra - Mirodoll Body torso, upper arms, upper legs, arms modded from the elbow to fit Impldoll forearms, Impldoll forearms shortened at the wrist to be proportionate to the torso and upper arms. Legs modified at the knee to fit Soom Heliot Fantasy Legs. All modified parts regular releases
Juno - Souldoll Zenith girl body with Soom Coquina fantasy legs. Mods have not been started yet, but the legs will need to be modified at the knee to take the Soom hooves. Hooves are dyed. Body is discontinued, hooves were limited release.
Io - ResinSoul Tang, full body dye, slight subtractive mod to forehead, doll is not limited.
Rune - ResinSoul Jun, ears heavily modified, not limited.
Avalon - Fairyland Tan Sleeping Dark Elf Soo with eye opening mods on a Souldoll NL Boy body with Luts Kid Delf Hades legs. Neck hole of head modified to fit on a regular body without FL neckpiece. Hades legs modified to fit Souldoll knee, paws tinted gray with dye. All modified parts were limited or partially limited releases; FL releases tan in batches, but the Soo is not limited itself.
Keilah - ResinSoul Fei with Soom Cheshire Cat legs. Head has eye opening mods, Cheshire cat legs have been modified at the knee to fit the ResinSoul body. Soom parts limited, body and head were not.
Riley - ResinSoul Ming with Soom Shale legs. Mods not started, but the Shale legs will be modified at the knee to fit the ResinSoul body. Soom parts limited, ResinSoul is not limited.
Mae - ResinSoul Yao with Soom Cheshire Cat legs and RS Ai hooves, mods not started but Cheshire parts will be modded to fit the ResinSoul knee, and the Ai hooves will be modified to replace the Cheshire paws. Soom parts limited, ResinSoul is not.
Vorelvaeri - ResinSoul Wu on Doll Chateau K-08 Body. Head has subtractive ear mod to make fantasy ears, tearducts added, body has fingers modified in place, as the hooks had damaged the resin of the jointed fingers, making them sit in place badly. No limited parts.
Vespara - ResinSoul Custom Colormatched Ai head, with Soom Beryl Fantasy body and Soom Coquina God Hands. Body has significant neck mod to accommodate the ResinSoul head. Beryl hooves dyed with black dye. All parts limited (head is a custom color match, so is one of a kind)
Nariaki - Dream of Doll A&E, cheeks have been slimmed down. Dream of Doll is out of business, but doll was not originally limited.
Lillium - Gothic Angel Cain, has facial structure mods: jaw, nose, brow and eyes all heavily sanded. Sculpt has not been released, and is a one-off directly from the artist.
Zephyr - Fairyland MNF Sleeping Breakaway on a ResinSoul Li body. Sleeping head has had both eyes partially opened. Neck hole also modified to fit a body without the FL neckpiece. Body has had Female to Male gender mods, and full torso joint mobility mods. Head is limited, body is not.
Cambré - Dollzone Mini Miss Kitty on a Doll Chateau B-05 body. Head has been modified to fit on body, legs have been dyed. Head was from event doll, body is not limited.
Shydran -Angelsdoll Kloze, eyes have been opened. Sculpt is discontinued and is very hard to find.
Raul - Fairyland MNF Tan Sleeping Chloe, eyes opened, mouth opened, removable tooth plate added, head is not limited, but tan is released in batches.
These guys dont have names yet but:
Dollzone Event Fairy - permanent dye. Doll was limited event doll.
Luts orange satyr body with Soom torso and Resinsoul arms, satyr body and torso modded to fit. Satyr parts limited, the rest are not
Zaoll Dreaming Luv on Souldoll Vito boy body - eye opening on head, body has not been modded yet, but neck will need to be built up with Apoxie to fit head.
Dollzone Miss Kitty on Doll Chateau K12 boy body - head has had neck hole opened to fit on body. No limited parts.
So y'all haters can kick rocks barefoot. We own our dolls, they're all legit, we can modify them if we fucking want. Choke on it, motherfuckers. 🖕🖕
EDIT I FORGOT ONE!! FAIRYLAND JURI 2014! Neck modified to be used without neckpiece.

Chapter 9 - Jirei
Jirei had not seen the highway in a week. After their close call with their pursuers from the Chalice, they had opted to abandon the highway entirely in favour of a slower path through the wilderness. The decision had made sense to them, it made no sense to make haste on the well travelled roads only to be attacked once more. But as the dense forest gave way for the great plains of the east, another issue came up.
“To make it to Shuyong, we're going to have to cross the river right here,” Jirei pointed to the map, drawing a line with her finger, tracing the river as it snaked from Lake Kaerin all the way through the Elven Alliance to the sea. “It’s no narrow stream, and with the recent rains it'll be bursting at the banks.”
“Meaning?” Ruzuli asked, annoyed by the humid air. “Do I have to ferry you all over?”
Jirei shook her head and went back to the map. “Normally, we would have easily made a crossing at this town here, but we've abandoned the road and turned southwards.” She painted a cross over a symbol used to represent a settlement in the air, then shifted downwards. “But on the highway from Shurei to Shuyong, there's another crossing. No towns, no guards, just a smaller distributary from the main river and two and a half kilometres of bridge. We could cross easily and no one would notice.” She paused for a moment, waiting for her teammates huddled around her to respond. When they said nothing, she prompted them for an answer.
“Well?”
“There’s some kind of catch, isn't there.” Ruzuli said in her best deadpan. The other two nodded. Nothing during their travels had gone particularly well, and they had come to expect something to go wrong at every turn. She sighed. She wished they weren't right.
“In total, our detour will cost us two weeks. We'll be behind schedule when we arrive. Another week of hiking through forest to even arrive at the other highway.” Ruzuli cursed at that, and she had Jirei's sympathies. While she was native to this land and hence rather familiar with it, the dragonling was not adapting as well. Her kind lived in mountains and other high places, and were ill-suited for long jungle treks. “We’ve already been travelling for what feels like forever,” whined Trixi, “And you’re telling me there’s more?”
“Look on the bright side, there won’t be any more ambushes.” Her words were met with groans and looks of pain. The rest of the group remained sullen, and all of her attempts to cheer them up had failed miserably. Octavia had already picked up her bags and began to trudge forwards, onwards into the unending, cruel forest. It was worth a try. As they departed their makeshift meeting spot, she could only wish she had done something with her premonition to avoid this dreadful outcome.
She didn’t hate the visions, or green dreams, as she had come to call them. It was just that they always brought more questions than answers. She knew nearly nothing about them even after nearly a decade of experiencing them, save the fact that the things she saw were either in the present or the past. By the time she saw it, it was already too late to change the future.
Worse still, she couldn't control what she saw, and she never saw much at all, being left to the mercy of whatever influenced what she saw. And to top it all off, no one would ever believe her. When they had first started coming to her in her sleep, she had excitedly told her teachers and peers about this wondrous new ability, of the mysterious things she had seen.
An illegal shipment of ores, going out that very night from the ports, or a bronze-clad warrior dueling a snake deep in a forest. But as she grew up, people changed their perception of her, from over-imaginative trainee to just another attention seeker, spinning tall tales for her minute of fame. Jirei knew it was hard to believe, but in a world where a ranger could tame an eagle with his mind, or a druid could bring an ancient flytrap back to life, her dreams weren't that far-fetched. It would have been nice if even one person had believed her, but that was not to pass. Even the Archdruid himself had advised her not to speak about this matter.
“You are merely dreaming.” Archdruid Yujin had said plainly. “No visions. No premonitions. Just dreams.” He had always been a man of simple thoughts and simple words, and while he had good intentions, he had failed to properly guide the younger, troubled elf.
Before long, she had retreated into her own shell, not just not speaking to others about her powers, but instead not speaking to others at all. It was all too much for her. She heard the nicknames, the rumours, the insults. She never responded.
She spared a glance at her three new friends, walking ahead of her, weary as always. They were new faces, new minds and new souls. She hoped they would be different. Hoping, after all, was the best she could do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That night, they camped at the edge of the treeline, the very brink of the Walled Forest. Jirei sat on a log in the darkness, watching the faint moonlight trickle through the dense trees. Out here they might have been all but alone, but they would take no risks. No campfire would light the path, or keep them warm, but nor would it reveal their positioning. Jirei idly held her staff, thinking about nothing at all, when footsteps from behind her prompted her to stand up, expecting to meet the usually sleepless Octavia.
To her surprise, she came eye to eye with Ruzuli. She looked exactly the same as she had the day they had burnt their robes, the same patchwork warrior with the blazing orange eyes. While the rest of them changed into more comfortable clothes at night to sleep better, Ruzuli wore her armour day and night, always ready for whatever life threw at her. Jirei admired that part of the dragonling. Always so ferocious and unafraid, she never stopped twice to think. Jirei was pretty sure that once in awhile she didn’t even stop once to think.
“What keeps you up? Can’t sleep?”
Ruzuli faked a yawn, stretching out and making exaggerated noises. “I’m just glad we’re leaving this godforsaken forest tomorrow.” She slowly revealed a toothy grin, showing off her ample fangs. “Gods, it's so tantalising. To see the great open plains right there-” She jerked a thumb to their right. “And instead of sleeping in the grass, under the stars, the way it was meant to be? We sleep in the crummy forest, with the endless chirping of bugs, the mossy, grimy floor, and all the unpleasant stuff that lives here.” At the end of her sentence, her eyebrows shot up. “I didn't mean you, of course. No offence to your entire race.”
“None taken.”
Ruzuli joined her side on the log and together they stared up at the near-full moon through the treetops. The milky white orb hung high in the sky. “The moon was full that night in Shuyong,” Jirei whispered to no one in particular.
“It’s already been a month, huh?” Ruzuli had evidently decided the whisper had been for her. She stretched her arm out and curled her finger and her thumb into an ‘O’. Jirei watched as she moved it around, lining up the moon with her fingers.
“Hey, ever wonder how high up the moon is?” Ruzuli asked out of nowhere. She squinted through the circle, and saw the moon through the loop she had formed.
“I’m afraid not, sounds like a question for Trixi.” She had no clue what had spurred Ruzuli to come up to her to have a spontaneous twilight chat, but not responding would be rude, no matter how little she felt like talking.
“I bet it's like, a hundred kilometres up!” Jirei laughed at that one. Feeling oddly relaxed, she shook her hair out of her hood, letting it fall upon her shoulder.
“We’ve walked nearly a thousand kilometres, you know.” Jirei was no expert navigator, but using her best estimations, she had figured out roughly how far they had gone.
Ruzuli’s face turned from one of curiosity to one of wonder. “A thousand?” She shook her head, laughing all the while. “That number’s already too big for me to comprehend, and we've barely gotten started on this journey.”
She hopped off the log, strolling in a semicircle around Jirei. Even as she walked she kept her hand on her sword, Kite. Jirei looked up to see her turn and begin to speak.
“I always thought my trip from home all the way south down to the Chalice would be the longest trip of my life. Two months of traveling alone for an whelp of eight was a huge ordeal.”
“You mean you went all the way south alone?” This Jirei could not believe. The mountains surrounding the Fang Plateau were treacherousness, and both ascents and descents were equally dangerous, with threats both natural and man-made.
Ruzuli snorted, as she often did. But this one sounded less aggressive, less excitable. It was tired, weary, and almost vulnerable. All things Ruzuli was not.
“They... didn't make it. They were paid to escort me to the Chalice, but paid the ultimate price for my safety. When you're young, you don't really understand just how large that is.” Without warning, she unsheathed Kite and whirled, slicing a hanging vine off. It fell to the ground limply, like a wet noodle.
“One strike,” she whispered. “One swing, one chop, one blow to the head. All it takes for a life to vanish, for their essence to leak away.”
“Two against eight, they were.” Now Ruzuli was gazing off towards the plains. “At the very foot of the mountain. Two blades against eight should never have been fair, but they turned the tides nonetheless. One of the men gave me his blade as a parting gift. Kite, I named it. Once he used it to protect me, now I use it to protect myself.*
There was a certain strangeness to the silence that followed. The mood should have been solemn, yet it felt anything but, what with the dragonling humming a tune without a care in the world. It baffled Jirei how she could be so carefree, especially with what she had just said. A tale of sacrifice and hardship at a young age, and yet she said it with joy, as if the story had been about a nice spring day.
As Jirei watched her twirl her blade around aimlessly, a burning question floated through her mind. It was no ordinary burning question, but rather the kind that had already kindled for a week, and was ready to burst into a wildfire.
“Why exactly are you telling me this?” She attempted to conceal her annoyance, and Ruzuli had thankfully failed to notice. This had not been the first time Ruzuli had told these types of stories with her could-care-less attitude, and walking beside her over the past week had proven a grave mistake.
Ruzuli shrugged. “I assumed you wanted to hear. I've got plenty more stories if you want.”
“I didn't say a thing.”
“Precisely.”
Jirei groaned, loud enough to stir the gnome sleeping behind her. He turned over, mumbling something about noise and sleeping in a rock. Ruzuli, however, found the scenario amusing, and let out the softest hearty laugh Jirei had ever heard.
“The fact that you're hearing all these stories is a good thing, you know.”
“Oh?” Jirei lacked the facial dexterity to raise a single eyebrow, so she raised both.
Ruzuli nodded back at her. “It means you’re a friend. And I trust you. More than anyone else here. ”
Jirei’s eyebrows found a way to go even higher. “Huh.”
“Uh-huh. You're strong in a way none of us are.”
“Explain.”
“Octavia’s reckless, Trixi’s not the bravest man alive, and I’ve got a temper shorter than him. Honestly, we had a leader it would be you. You're smart, patient and you're always listening and watching out. Makes you trustworthy. Can't do that when you're talking all the time like me.” She laughed at her own joke. “That fight against the Lua agent? You kept a cool head the whole time, even when we looked outmatched. I leapt off that building to dodge one of his attacks, only because I knew you’d catch me with your vines. And you did. Great work on that, by the way.”
“Was nothing.” Jirei deliberately mumbled in response to all compliments, or anything that sounded like one. Not that she received them often.
“Oh no, it was definitely something. You knew I’d survive the fall regardless if you saved me or not, but you did it anyway. Trust you to be the big damn hero of the day again.” Ruzuli emphasised the word again, and for good reason. Time and time again, Jirei had pulled out all the stops to save her teammates, without once faltering.
Trust was a strange word for her. She had always thought it was something you earned, something you had to prove. Something she had failed to do all those years. But here, Ruzuli was offering it, for nothing in exchange, as if it was a gift for a birthday. She didn't know what it felt like to be trusted. But she was willing to find out.
But before she could get a word in, Ruzuli was already strolling off, headed back to their small circle of bedrolls. “You’ve got talent, friend. Use it more.” Satisfied with having the last word, Ruzuli slinked back into her bedroll. Before long, the quiet drone of insects were replaced by the much louder drone of her snoring.
Jirei looked up to the moon for some kind of answer or explanation, but the moon remained silent as ever. Maybe this would all make sense in time. Maybe she needed some rest. She lay down on the log, eyes facing the stars above, and slowly drifted away.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Green. She knew the drill. When the familiar rush came, Jirei snapped to attention. Remember everything you see. These dreams don’t arrive on a whim. When it came into focus, she began to drink it all in. Encampment. Goblins. Daytime. A lot of goblins. Dream Jirei gulped. Almost all of them were running about, focused on some task or other, forming a miniature war factory. She counted at least fifty, but they were too numerous, and the camp too large to see them all. Scattered about the camp were numerous tree stumps, fell by the goblins to create such a large clearing. To think that such a massive force was here in her home country made her shudder. I thought they were just bandits, she thought, not some organised army.
A lone goblin dressed shabbily in armour three sizes too large for him ran right through her, jangling as he went along, scroll clutched in hand. She turned to see him kneel at the feet of someone else, presumably his leader, judging from his well-fitting armour, his wooden seat and several battle scars. He snatched the scroll out of his underlings hands, quickly scanned through it, and handed it back to the courier.
“How long have you been on the road?” He barked. “Ehh?” The courier was clearly either hard of hearing, or not very intelligent. Impatient, he smashed a wood plank against the shoddy helmet of the courier, snapping it in two, scattering splinters everywhere. The poor victim clutched his head, and let loose a cry of pain.
“I said, how long have you been on the road? And address me by Captain Karlo. I didn’t serve the Three Princes for a decade to be called ‘Ehh’.” Karlo snarled, rattling his spear as loudly as he could.
“Six days, sir!” As dull as the courier had looked, he managed to stumble out an answer, which evidently pleased the captain. He hefted the spear and smashed it against a bell situated next to him, getting the attention of his men around him. Jirei swore they numbered over fifty. He laced his fingers together and began to strut, all eyes on him. They huddled round as he began to give a great speech.
“The order has come,” he said ominously. “The Three Princes themselves have called for us to create a diversion, while the main plan is carried out in the Shuyong area.”
“What plan?” came a voice from the back.
“The plan! Gods, you folk are helpless.” Karlo pinched the bridge of his nose as he cursed every living and dead family member of his men. “We need to do something to grab the attention of the authorities in Shuyong. We're near the fork of Citrasa, so that's east of us. Burn a forest, raid a town, rob some travellers, anything! While they focus on us, they can do their work over there, unimpeded by any stupid explorer foolish enough to fight them. Not that they’d ever lose, but even massacring weaklings steals precious time away from them!” The praise to their princes was met with resounding cheers and roars that went on for a good minute before the captain shushed them again.
“But before we get to the mayhem, let’s get the planning out of the way. BOATS?”
“Fixed up and loaded with cannons!”
“RAMS?” “All ready!”
“BOMBS?”
“Fresh batch, stolen from the dwarves!”
His crew yelped out the status of various projects, each and every one dedicated to creating more chaos and destruction wherever they went. At the responses, Karlo cracked a wild grin. “WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? TO YOUR STATIONS!” The battle cry rang out, loud and true, pushing the horde of goblins to a fever pitch of excitement. Wandering about in her ethereal form, she managed to observe the full force of the goblin army, numbering far over two hundred, each poorly armed but still vicious and violent. And they aren't even the main army, she realized.
But before she had a chance to gleam more information, the dream world began to shake. No! I need more time! Her perspective began to shake, trembling as if the earth itself was coming apart. As her form faded away, one last line permeated her ears. “We ride south tomorrow at dawn!”, followed by the roar of the horde. Slowly, the roar echoed into a whisper. And then, nothing.
When she awoke, she rose with the certainty that danger was coming. And this time, she would intervene. Perhaps she could not see the future, but she could change it.

SONG: I was also not sure what to expect I was curious what different genre they would go into while maintaining the badass feel that has been successful for them but, they’ve really found their sound. The drop was totally unexpected but good. My first thought when the song started was reggae? Those horns remind me of like car horns or fog horns rather than like brass horns. But yeah some sort of industrial horn with some crazy filters. They use some pretty unique sounds/synths like none of them have reminded me of anyone else. What I like about this instrumental is that it’s never doing too much? It’s never really busy but it’s never too sparse. It’s (relatively) “simple”, I think there’s like around 5 synths/sounds at most going on at once and I think part of why they can do that is they are harmonizing the most we have heard them in any of these badass songs (Hobgoblin, Black Dress, No) This song relies less on the beat to carry it. Even with the instrumental being so minimal the song the producer still managed thin and thicker the instrumental throughout the song (props). I like that Yeeun’s switched up her rap cadence in this song. I think this is vocally their best title track because it highlights each member’s voice so well. Also idk if it’s just me but Eunbin singing really improved? Yujin in the bridge? *chef kiss*. They literally also sound so great tho. The repeat word chorus doesn’t bother me too much. I prefer it over a totally instrumental chorus.I know what you mean about Seunghee singing!!! HER PARTS were so great and I really feel like it suited her voice. And not just that but I can hear her in the back a lot ad libbing and harmonizing throughout the song 😭😭😭😭
DANCE: I love me some center Elkie. And they start off making some beautiful pictures. Whew, they dropped it low and picked it back up in canon (and the hair flip). The choreo when Sorn is center is like mesmerizing/alluring. Oh that move where they gesture at their face is familiar they did that in another song too. The picture when the instrumental is clock ticking is nice. There’s one move during Yeeun’s rap that I really love but I don’t know how to describe it. They’re making a lot of nice pictures which makes because the lyrics are talking about beauty. I love the choreo in Elkie’s second center part even more than the first. (sidenote: seunghee hitting notes live :’)) There’s a lot of leg and hip happening and it’s ... a lot.
VISUALS: Elkie was surrounded by elks :D we love symbolism (i already had a high elf elkdong idea and this only makes me want to develop it more). Also you right the lighting was amazing I hope she took lots of selcas to release later 😋 Is it just me or does Seunghee/Sorn set remind anyone else of the rotating Pepe set? Yeeun was holding the hand from the clock! If you notice when she has the red thing in her hand the hand on the clock is gone! Seunghee staring at a girl again 😏but seungyeon as venus? fair analogy. That woman is like beyond gorgeous. Seunghee looking royal but also v gf-like in that big yellow chair 😔Eunbin was feeling it in her solo shots. Sorn Yujin. I love the first group shot where they’re just sitting in their uniforms staring at the camera! Oh the transition from the uniforms in the green well lit room to elkie’s white well lit room is very nice. I love the different crowns they have. The black out fits are good. Oh is the ink/paint covering the venus painting a callback to black dress when they poured paint on a venus bust? Yeeun on top of the clock is a visual! Oh rewatching it I’ve realized the darker uniform group dance shot is the same room as before but now it has a totally different vibe! Good set use. Also the solo closeups in the uniforms 😭😭and anytime Elkie and Seunghee shots are back to back 😭👌🏾😭👌🏾
THEM:
seunghee: period. I feel so well feed :’)
seungyeon: always trying to break necks (and succeeding)
yujin: was up front a little less but every time she was she slayed. we love a lead dancer
sorn: that black crop top and high ponytail? rest. I absolutely adore her hair color right now
elkie: after letting me chill a bit in NO she came back to attack me. Her shots in the second half esp, who is she looking at like that?
yeeun: this child has never not looked amazing and again i really liked the switch up with her rap
eunbin: I have to agree the confidence was overflowing. Go ahead maknae!

HomeFront: 36. There Wasn't Anything
The run felt like it took him an hour. Trying to get over the fact that he was always on the edge of falling down a mountain wasn't a good feeling at all. The best they could have done was make the path wider for a person to pass and carry a load behind them. But, no. No passing room (thank you nobody was coming in the other direction) with just barely enough space for his shell to jab at the Rock every now and then as his body bounced side to side with his movements. It felt like he had just hit a home run when he had the Wu Kwan in his sights with all the flat space stretching far and wide. Upon his arrival, his teacher opened up the door to the porch and stood in the doorway. With a cup of tea in her hand, she advised that he should take a moment's rest and come back. Apparently, she had a surprise in mind and wouldn't want it to be spoiled for him. Although he smiled and took off with it, he felt like it was go no to be very unpleasant. If anybody says there's a surprise briefly after getting cross with the other, there was nothing fun about the outcome. With the break, he had a good moment to dawn on the thought in the comforts of his home of a few months. When he first arrived, Leonardo dwelled on the fact that Venus may be home. She probably woke up and noticed that he had gone by now. Probably doesn't even want to see him right now. He had to admit, that was a really… um… Not really nice thing to do to her. Every morning they woke up together, so he sure wouldn't have gone unnoticed. He better try to make peace with her at least. Alas, wherever he looked, the lady turtle was nowhere to be found. Not in her room, not in her father’s room, not even in her glorious backyard. Venus probably took off somewhere. Miwa didn't mention whether or not she was in the Wu Kwan, so maybe she's somewhere else? The hole? An old friends? Oh no, what if she's with Yujin? She hadn't talked about him much since, but that couldn't mean that she's forget about him. Leo jumped onto the couch. He wished he could say that he cared whether or not it would break under his sudden weight, but now he could care less. Could he really have driven her back to her.. Her guy-friend? That was the last thing he would want and it was entirely his fault if she did. Oh, man. He may have messed up big time. The whole point of him going home for a while was a time for relaxation, but how was a turtle honing to relax with these thoughts through his head? He tried calling her, but with every call there was no answer. Typical. Well, if he wasn't going to relax, might as well go back and meet up with Miwa. Besides, keeping further bottled up feelings without blowing off some steam will make him repeat the same actions that brought him here in the first place. He went through the back entrance to where Miwa had sent him off from earlier that morning. On the walk there, he tried to drop the subject altogether in order to keep from taking his frustration too far in the face of his teacher. It wasn't her fault anyways. It was nobody's fault that he felt such a way. Nobody's fault but his. A careful hand turned the knob and pulled the door open. The creak of its hinges notified that someone was coming in. Upon closing it behind him, he stood there as he waited for the incoming footsteps to meet up with him. As spritely as ever, it was Miwa. Her cup was no longer in her hand after having finished it a while ago. Updated nag her face was a black mask made of some type of netting by material like chiffon of some sorts. The black shadowed her sharp eyes outlined by her edgy makeup. A torso of a silver plate adorned her along with strapped pads on both her shoulders and forearms. She looked ready for a fight. “Welcome back.” Her words were mellow. “I have someone in the dojo for you.” She didn't explain her new get up, which was odd since he had seen her wear nothing else but black pants and shirts. Something was definitely up. Good or bad for him, it was seriously leaning towards the bad side in his stomach. Like a good student, Leonardo followed as she led him to the other room. A lump in his throat went down as they neared the dojo. “Is Venus here? She wasn't back at the house.” He forced himself to say. Maybe talking could calm him down for the possible worst behind the door. “I don't want you thinking about her right now.” She snapped, letting half of her covered eye pierce his soul. “In other words, she brought him in for you.” Her face disappeared behind her head. “Him?” Leo questioned with a raised brow. His teacher did not answer. Miwa opened the door to the dojo and walked in. A small panic surged through the brave turtle for the surprise was just beyond this point. With a careful mind followed by confident steps, he tip toes into the room. Miwa was looking at one sode. A smile plastered on her red lips with her hands holding her hips. The turtle sealed a big lump of courage before looking at what she looked at so smugly. “There's the monkey boy!” The familiar, frog like croaking of the Ancient One sang so brightly. A squint in his eyes observed him more carefully. “You look sweaty, like a freshly washed cucumber only rotten looking.” He referred to his glistening state from walking over in the hot sun in addition to the anxiety he had coming in here. Normally, Leonardo would make some type of assurance that he heard his critique loud and clear, but for now, he was a little preoccupied. After hearing the Ancient One announce him, it turned around to see. The man had to be at least eight feet tall; a staggering giant next to the little old man. Was it right to refer to it as a man, as in, a human being? The creature wore a getup of blue pants and golden boots that curled at the toe. Not even the elf-ish style of his footwear made him any less intimidating. His physic was rock hard, rippling muscle everywhere including his four arms. Yes, his four, muscled arms shaded in the same blue-gray color of his body. Here and there, tufts of blonde hair lined his forearms and shoulders. He fancied a rather bushy beard that stopped just before the rope of his cranium. If he weren't interesting enough, a long tail with a striped pattern limped behind him. Mona had nothing on him when it came to length, but hey, she's supposed to have an adequate length and more thickness as a mixed salamander turtle. But this guy, what was he? “Heh. Just a little boy I see.” His haughty laugh frightened the confused turtle even more. He stood there like a dork, mouth still agape. “W-what? Who…?” Leonardo stammered. He couldn't function. The creature rendered him helpless, trying to comprehend his state of being. Was this what it's like when people meet him? Letting him suffering for a good few seconds, Miwa gave in, but with a sly smile. “This is D’Jinn.” She presented the strange creature with an extended hand. Her student continued to stare blankly. The teacher took hold of his bottom jaw and pushed it up. The click of his teeth snapped him out of his trance for he looked into her eyes and off the visitor. “You are going to be fighting him today.” Wait. Fight, him? The eight foot, four armed dude? Fight him? “Y-you mean like… right now?” Leonardo asked, wondering if he understood her right. With closed lids, she lowered her head. It's as bad as it sounded. “Whats the problem?” He laughed. “Afraid to get pummeled by an old timer?” His voice mixed of old and smoker, yet the deep bass surely did justice for his size. Leo gave his opponent another look over. In confusion, his eyebrows furrowed. Green lips pursed into an ‘o’. “Who?” The turtle almost sang as he liked back down to his teacher at his side. “What is he?” “Later. For now, prepare yourself Leonardo. This is one of your final tests. So far, you have learned and progressed with the new techniques I have taught you, but there is only one lesson left.” She approached the creature with amazing confidence. A space was created In the middle just before the Ancient One and the large gray man.“Defeat D’Jinn and you pass. If not, you are not the ninja we thought you were.” Well, that was encouraging. The student terrapin took one last look a D’Jinn before taking his place on the other side of the room. A list of advatnages and disadvantages went through his head. Master Splinter always warned him of never to assume anything during a fight, but if Miwa wanted him to fight him and apparently Venus did too, this guy had to be pretty good to pose a challenge to him. Leo walked to the other side of the dojo. Miwa and the Ancient One took refuge to a far corner of the room. ready to judge and spectate. D’Jinn casually sauntered to his place, letting his tail drag behind him. Leaning against the wall was a large, wooden bat that had the appearance of that of what a caveman would use. He chuckled as he grasped it and played with it childishly, showing off to the already worried terrapin. He turned around and face the turtle, smiling all the while. His nose stuck into the air. A couple audible sniffs went up his nose. “I can sense your fears, and your failure.” Two grey fists from the same side of his body formed, clenching at ‘failure’. The ninja turtle growled, teeth clenched so tight that his lips couldn’t hide his slight overbite. His animalistic voice grew higher in volume as he charged the awful creature. A leap in the air, he held out his katanas. A quick fip was added to assure a kick to the upper torso. Unfortuantely, his scheme was all too predictable. Before he could get a hit, he could see D’Jinn smile before winding up his bat and swatting him down. The flying turtle plodded onto the floor facedown. He tried to get up with his shaking arms, but D’Jinn gave hima brutal kick to the side of his shell. The power behind it sent him flying into the rafter. Thankfully, the wood barely splintered and kept the place upright. The shock was absorbed through his back armory, so it was more of a pinch than it would if he actually hit his skin. The terrapin caught himself and stuck the landing on the floor. When he looked up from his crouched position, he was less than pleased.“With everything that has happened, you are doomed to fail both yourself and others.” The blue bandana turtle stood up straight, katanas at his sides. “You don’t know what you’re talking about!” Again, he charged with great fury. Miwa and the Ancient One looked on in silence as the two got into a brief slashing battle before D’Jinn’s bat stopped the two katanas from cutting him vertically. Leonardo pushed down with all his might while the creature pushed up to hold him there. “Believe me, I do!” Suddenly, he pushed him back, shaking off the angry turtle. Then, he pulled hit bat over and behind his back, ready to spring. He swung down. Leonardo’s blades formed an ‘x’ in an attempt to guard against it. Suddenly, there was a bright flash. Donatello was in front of him. The cattle-like prods from the Foot shocked his already wet body in painful ways. With the addition of rain and the tech already on him, he was taking it the most. His grunts and held in screams were clearly audible, as if the Foot took the all over again. Then, there was Michelangelo. With the blood slowly withdrawing from them, he was the first to partake in its effects. Before Raphael had shown up, Leonardo looked to his right. His youngest, the happy one was pulled forward in a slumped position. Never had he seen his head hang low so involuntarily as his juvenile life was being sucked out of him and flowing through a tube. Another flash and he was back in the dojo; Right back into the middle of the fight. It was weird, but there was no time to register what happened as he found himself perfomring a double backflip to make space between his opponent. His hard footsteps shook the ground as he would up his bat again. Raphael, beaten to the floor and all he could do was watch his little brother fly and be humiliated by that monster. The sound of his bulky armor clinked and haunted his memories as he drew closer to his fallen brother. A foot pressed against his shell with hydronic force. More and more pressure pushed him down. The sound of the cracking bone that would soon become a crack in his shell began to break open under his shoe. The visions. Was this his mind playing tricks on him? Surely none of these thoughts were remotely near his brain at this time, but there there were. Clear and vivid. Such gruesome sights, he shook his head, hoping it would stop regenerating his past. Another charge came from the turtle, With his head in the clouds, he could think of no other tactic. It bothered him like crazy, but there wasn’t much he could do. He had to pass him test. D’Jinn waited patiently, which irked the turtle more as he pounced at him. With his legs curled back as well as both him arms, he wanted to dice up the arrogant alien. Before he could knick his skin. Two arms stopped him in mid air, gripping at his shoulder and the other at one of his legs. In a fit of rage, the D’Jinn wound up and smashed him into the floor, shell first. Then, there was Master Splinter. His body was being suspended by the same monster who did them wrong. As crisp as the real thing, his metal arm moved back and swung with the momentum. Splinter grunted as the blades cut at his stomach. So carelessly, was his body tossed to the floor. More flashes as he watched he and his brothers dropping like flies as they were attacked from behind until they blanked out. If it could become any more disturbing, their faces and bodies began to melt. Slowly, their distraught expression dissolved into the air along with the Foot holding them hostage. He was alone in their old home; Alone, with the exception of D’Jinn taking up the space the Shredder was once in before dissappearing. He laughed haughtily, letting his bat fall playfully into one of his palms. The memory was worse than the real thing. It all felt too real. The feelings and pain returned once more. The top of his head showed because her dropped his chin to his chest. His hands clenched the edge of the broken cemented floor while his knees scratched along with its jagged surface. “I’m- i’m so sorry!” He apologized out loud. His strong voice now shook. “I’m so sorry.” D’jinn continued to laugh, obviously enjoying every moment of the powerful leader breaking before him. Leo cold hear him, but it didn’t matter. Appologizing to his family was his biggest concern. “I- I’m. I did the best I could!” Suddenly, it hit him. He looked up. D’Jinn was still in his same, overconfident state. “I did the best I could!” Leonardo yelled with power behind his voice. The katana on the floor were picked back up as kickly as he got back onto his feet. The creature had to rush to gain better control of his bat as the mutant turtle came running at him like a freight train.“There” Clash! “wasn’t…” Block! “anymore…” Clash! “that I could’ve done!” His voice rumbled animalistically as he held the surprised creature in a deadlock. “If there was nothing more that you could have done, why do you punish yourself so?” An inquiry posed upon by the Ancient One pierced the imagery. The turtle paused. Blades lowered to his sides, shoulders relaxed. Before long, a smile warmed up his face. He got it. He understood. As quickly as it arrived, the awful background melted around them. They were back at the dojo, or , at least, could see it since they've never left. D’jinn backed off from the turtle. His large torso gave him a slight bow. Leo, now knowing he was no longer a threat, placed his katanas in the sheaths of his back. When the last one fell to the bottom on the carrier, he squared himself up with the noble creature and bowed with him. A few seconds and the two rose up. Suddenly, a blue aura surrounded him. His body was engulfed by a blinding light as he grew shorter and thinner in stature. At 6ft, he stopped changing and the light faded away. There stood Venus, smiling with all of her heart. It was her. She was him the entire time! Before he could say a word of disbelief, the female turtle engulfed him into a bear-tight hug. Her face pressed into the nook between his shoulder and neck. The move stunned him massively, but it didn't take long until he embraced her just the same. “I didn’t know it was that bad.” She was referring to what had happened between him and the Shredder. Surely, she knew of the story, but she had never seen it with her own eyes. “You needed help, but you wouldn't let us.” It sounded like a soft sob while she spoke into him. Leo nodded, agreeing fully. She pulled away, using a hand on his shoulder to distance herself and use the other to wipe her face. “Leonardo, you have so much promise and you're a great leader, but you thought you needed to be perfect in order to live a wonderful life. It's okay for a glow stick to break. Eventually, it will shine.” The sincerity. Such truth passed from her lips. It felt so good for him to hear words of praise towards him after a while of nasty remarks about his behavior. Assuredly, this feeling was way better than being angry all the time. “And you have proven yourself today.” Miwa chimed in. The two turtles turned their attention to their approaching teacher. The Ancient One was escorted by her side, arms wrapped around hers as she led. “Under my wing, you have learned many lessons in aikido, judo, Kung fu, and contact caopeira, as well as two important lessons that were personal.” “What were those?” “Lesson 1: taking critism and handling it nicely. Neither The Ancient One nor I thought you were a terrible prospect when we first met you.” “I did.” He raised his free hand proudly. Miwa chooses to ignore him after giving him a passing glance. “It was discouraging critism meant to break you down. At first, it did not seem to bother you but over time you applied it to getting better rather than expecting encouraging word and believe you were perfect. Lesson 2: don't let everything fall on your shoulders. I know you are the leader of your clan, but you can't be held responsible for everything. Some things are just beyond our control. When something as bad as that happens, accept that it happened and move forward. You are an exceptional student, Leonardo, and probably the best of students I've had. Your training is complete.” Those words. Leonardo has been waiting for them for the longest time. He accomplished his purpose of coming. Now, he can go home. Now, he can see his family again. Now, he can be at peace. Leo took a step towards the two mentors. Both Miwa and the Ancient One lifted up their chins to see his face. A calm exchange of facial expressions created a tacit treaty of peace. The terrapin took a deep breath before taking a bow. His hands were stiff at his sides as he lowered himself almost to the Ancient One’s height. In mutual respect, the two teachers bowed their heads, forgiving and congratulating their student. A few seconds passed until both parties straightened back up. Leonardo had the sweetest, most assuring smiles youve probably ever seen him have. This was what he wanted, and he got it. It took some blood, sweat, and quite a few tears, but he got there. Breaking his train of thought, a hand firmly grasped his chin. The beholder of it turned it abruptly towards her at his side. Venus smiled brightly. “Ready to lead a mission again?” A/N: Back at it again with the 2k3 references! The Character “D’Jinn” is from the Battle Nexus episodes. The action sequence comes from The Ancient One. Ok… be honest… how many of ya’ll did I trick from those last three sentences…? I know I did :p
