Meet Naledi

Hey loves

I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my closest friends, who’s also a fellow blogger. Her name is Naledi and she oozes absolute BLACK GIRL MAGIC.

Here are the few questions I asked her. I hope you enjoy the article as much as I had a lovely time interviewing her. 

Q: Do you have someone whose style you admire, if so then who is it? 

A: Yes, i'm a huge fan of Solange and Oroma Elewa's style, they both understand colour, pattern and size combination and explore minimalism in an interesting and contemporary way.

Q: Describe your style in two words

A: Forever changing.

Q: What is the one thing that is always in your bag?

A: My notebook, I can't live without it, I always feel like I might need to write something down and yes I know it's a little bit old school but I need it.

Q: What is your take on women being told that they hide behind makeup and are scared to show who they are?

A: I can understand how difficult it is for women to feel some sense of individuality and true self in a world where certain beauty standards can only be achieved through makeup. It takes a lot of courage to look at the world in one's own skin and feel unapologetically beautiful and I personally feel that it begins with realizing the true beauty within and that it's more than societal expectations.

Q: If you were to be approached by a beauty brand to be their brand ambassador, which on would it be and why?

A: It would be celltone or any other product that is much more focused on healthy skin.

Q: You mentioned how you'll try and be as authentic as possible when you blog, do you think that's still applied in blogs you've seen today?

A: Yes and no, so many bloggers try so hard to gain recognition, resulting in blogging for quantity rather than quality. At the end of the day it all depends on what the blogger wants.

Q: As a student, what is the greatest challenge you've ever had to fight and how did you overcome it?

A: Being a student in South Africa coming from a not so privileged comes with hundreds of challenges on it's own. But my biggest challenge is finding myself and my purpose in this world. I love discovering the depths of my soul, but how does one do that in a world with so many distractions.

Q: What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?

A: Selflessness, I like to think of the world as a teacher and the act of selflessness by far is the most beautiful thing I can learn

Q: Faux freckles, loathe or love?

A: I'm on the fence with this one, when does it cross the line to appropriation. I really like them but I guess I'm just not ready to try them yet.

Q: Must have item this season?

A: I am in love with ankle boot heels, the elegance mixed with edge feel is a total winner for me.

Q: You're currently listening to?

A: I love listening to all types of good music but lately I've been deep into 70s and 70s inspired tunes. So right now I have three major albums that have been on repeat, that being Wovoka by the iconic Redbone, Awaken my love by Childish Gambino and Anything in return by Toro Y Moi. I just love, love, love those albums

Q: Where do you see your blog in 2 years?

A: I see my blog as an inspiration to people who admire fashion and exploring life. Hopefully within two years I would have already starting documenting my journey around the world, learning all the lessons I learn along the way.

Q: Favourite quote?

A: Bob Marley once said "Some people feel the rain, others just get wet." It speaks volume to me in a world where so many people are disconnecting from each other and we are losing what it means to be together.
