With all the talk about #AIart I'm making a commitment for all my work to be AI-Free. If my art or writing is bad, its 100% my work because its made by a human and I am flawed. That means no generated art or text will be used in my books. not even using #ChatGPT for research.

I'm making this commitment because I want to be a model of authenticity and to remind people the true value of human work and the joys and pains of artistic expression.

I'm opposed to generative AI for many reasons. 1. its trained on other's work and that's theft. 2. it takes an enormous amount of physical resources (energy and water, for example) to generate and I don't want to waste it 3. being an artist is a valuable skill that real people spend years cultivating and I do not want to see that diminished.

So, I implore you to join me in my commitment to make my story AI-Free. Make a stand and say no to generative "art" and make your own works and make them bad! bad is beautiful!

is there anyone that your muse works with that they cannot stand? why?

Yes, there’s one person Katsuo works with that he cannot stand—a high-ranking executive named Tetsuo Watanabe. Watanabe, much older than Katsuo, is deeply entrenched in the corporate world and known for being manipulative and conniving. He epitomizes everything Katsuo despises about the cutthroat corporate culture, from backstabbing colleagues to using underhanded tactics to maintain power.

Watanabe often tries to undermine Katsuo, viewing him as a threat due to his competence and family ties to Satoru. He’s also been involved in shady dealings Katsuo would never approve of, which further fuels his disdain. Their interactions are always tense, with Watanabe often pushing Katsuo to adopt more ruthless tactics in his role. Katsuo sees through Watanabe’s façade and loathes the way he manipulates others, using people as pawns to get ahead.

Despite Katsuo’s ability to remain composed, Watanabe’s presence is a constant source of irritation, reminding him of the darker side of the corporate world that he’s fighting against, even from within.

For Katsuo's business setting, a Neomilitarism fashion style suits him well. Neomilitarism is all about sharp, imposing, and highly structured outfits that exude power and authority. The dark, tailored suits with minimalistic but sleek designs reflect his corporate role within the Tyger Claws. It also communicates his precision and no-nonsense approach to work, fitting the image of a high-ranking professional in a dangerous, cutthroat world. He would likely accessorize minimally, using sleek, tech-integrated gear to complement his look.

For his casual setting, Asian Pop would resonate more with his personal exploration of identity and his gender-fluid aesthetic. Asian Pop allows for vibrant colors, a mix of textures, and a playful approach to fashion. Katsuo could experiment with different silhouettes, incorporating gender-neutral elements and comfortable, stylish streetwear pieces. This style would allow him to express himself more freely, away from the constraints of his corporate life, embracing the fluidity and creativity that defines his casual style and culture.

is there anything expected of the job that your muse refuses to do?

Given Katsuo’s position within the Tyger Claws and his complex personal code, there are likely several aspects of the job he refuses to engage with, despite the expectations placed upon him. While he’s committed to the gang and understands the necessity of maintaining control and power, Katsuo would refuse to partake in certain senseless violence or torture of innocents. He’s not above taking out threats or dealing with dangerous situations, but targeting non-combatants, bystanders, or engaging in excessive brutality would cross a line for him.

Additionally, Katsuo likely has ethical limits when it comes to human trafficking or exploitation, particularly if it involves the vulnerable or those coerced into the underworld. His background, combined with his complicated relationship with his father’s legacy and his own personal struggles, has likely shaped him to stand against forms of oppression that feel too reminiscent of what he’s had to endure.

Despite the pressures of his role, Katsuo would likely refuse to do anything that compromises his sense of personal integrity, even if it risks his standing within the organization.

Happy Belated New Year! I originally made this page on NYD but I got a bit caught up before being able to post anything. Life, y'a know. I wanted another, more accessible place to share the artwork I made for my book (and other fun pieces). Speaking of which, Here's 2021 vs 2023 images. SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED SINCE THEN. Its really a shame that so many of the initial illustrations for Volume 1/Waves of Change will go unpublished. I had nearly something of every or at least every other page, sometimes even multi-panel pieces. I'm happy to share them here at least.
