People under 15? Dont have a choice. I don't know when you, person reading this, bought your first device with all your own money, but the only 15 year olds investing that much are rich and gamers.
Schools use chromebooks. En masse. You get to use a computer at school? You get one from your school district? They're all chromebooks. In 2018 I had a school chromebook which could access the real desktop, ran on Windows -something. Now? The chromebooks given at that school run on Chromium if you click the only Files looking icon? It takes you to your Google Drive. The rest of the icons? The things in Google Suite. The computer is only a web browser.
Okay, say you're me, in college with more financial autonomy. The cost of electronics combined with the fact that two factor authentication is becoming popular for use cases that are a bit excessive means okay, I want to be a person who goes to my college? Yeah, if I don't need desktop software I would use only a phone because every time I log in it asks for a code from my phone. If I'm logging in on my phone? Great just one device. Not on my phone? Don't have a phone? Sucks to fucking suck.
