denki gripped the test paper in his hand tightly , the paper wrinkled up ever so slightly - a frown apparent on his face as he made his way up to the front of the class to talk to his teacher with slight shame . he had waited for everyone to leave to make sure no one overheard or anything ( people assumed he did bad , yet they didn't know he failed ! ) . ❝ i uh ... i'm sorry teach . i really did try ! ❞

❝ ... i studied hard for this but i just can't wrap my head around it ! ❞ the letters and words never made sense . he just couldn't comprehend or understand it at all , the way words combined and floated across the page - none of it made sense ! ❝ i just can't do it ! i'm not good at learning - i do better at practical stuff .. like hero classes . ❞ but that's not his favourite thing either , nor the thing he's best at . instead he prefers - ❝ but mostly ... i love music ! i'm good at that . i could study it for days , plus i'd say i'm pretty good at playing ! ❞

honestly, he was expecting there to be a bit of a push-back on his grading. maybe some groans here and there and some whooping. what he doesn't expect is kaminari approaching him when hizashi assumed the class had emptied itself out already ; as he's flitting around the desk and wiping all the chalk off of the board behind him. there's a beat of surprise on his end, listening to such an earnest student that he can't help but soften up to. even just a little. it was his job to teach, not to punish.

" listen, kid. tests are tests, and tests suck sometimes. i believe you when you say you tried your best. " he knew a thing or two about doing well on paper and not doing well in the field, and it seemed this kid had the opposite problem. it was fascinating, and so blond hums a short note before checking over his own copy of the test.

" i don't mind forming a study club if you need it. i'm sure plenty of other students need it, too. " he gives a little sniff, almost inwardly trying to hide the snort at the image of all the twos and threes that collected in the stack of graded papers. ones, sure, floated here and there from what he remembered. hizashi's pretty sure one of those ones was kaminari's, and so he gives a firm nod.

" english is a tough language. i grew up speaking it, surrounded by it. but you haven't, and aren't, atleast to my knowledge. and that's alright! but that's probably why it's been a little bit more difficult, ya dig? as for music ... "

wide smile decorates his face once more.

" i get having interests that capture your focus more. i'm the same way with music, myself. i guess you just gotta look for something you enjoy in things that aren't as interesting, to motivate you more! " his eyes light up after a beat of thought on his end. " oy, why not just combine music and studying? have you tried listening to some songs in english, and playing or singing along? "

"..." Out from the ground pops an orange head with large ears and yellow-dotted cheeks. Resting his arms on the edge of his self-made hole for support, the electric mouse glances around shortly for a moment before he realizes this is not Viridian Forest.

It's strange, Ochako thinks. Even though it's not like she's known Kaminari for that long, the first time she met him, she thought to herself that she was sure she'd met him before. It's the same way with the rest of her class. It's like the moment she arrived in 1-A, she knew that she was meant to be there - it felt right, and even now, she feels at home with them in a way she never expected to feel with people who should really just be classmates to her.

Fate has always sounded like a romantic idea to Ochako, but she's not sure she's ever really believed in it. There's too much suffering in the world for that. Too many people exist who's fates are too unfair for her to want to accept it... but sometimes... well, she wonders.

"Oh, Kaminari-kun!" Ochako smiles as she notices the hand on her shoulder, turning around with an open and enthused expression. "Ahaha, sorry... I was spacing out again. Were you talking to me?"

He approached Kaminari with the same blank expression he usually wore. Though, if his classmate looked close enough, he would notice the curiosity burning in his gaze.

"Kaminari," he called out. "I need to ask you something."

There's a moment of tension as Fritz sizes up the hero who seems to be oh-so-interested in his music, but it quickly subsides as he comes to the quick realization that he is not, in fact, one of the types to smear the heroism right into his face.

...Well, better than any other alternatives, really.

Fritz ponders over the question that was posed after that little stint of scrutiny. His first instrument? Hm. "Unlike what the current instruments suggest -" that is, a keyboard and percussion pad, "- my very first instrument was the oboe. The other instrument that I would consider to be my first - the one that I really practiced with - was the bassoon." He stuffs his hands in his pockets and shrugs.

"Classical, I guess, but I had to start somewhere."

There was a momentary pause and Tokoyami just... watched that unfold and he simply could not understand what was going through Denki's brain sometimes. To be fair, it wasn't like Tokoyami didn't have those moments, but still.

It didn't mean he knew how to respond to that right away.

❝As far as I am aware, we are not in the military, I do not think you saluting me was necessary. But... thanks for the salute, I guess?❞

❝ Whaa - ? ❞ with empty eyes that showed exactly what was going on inside his head he stood up and saluted ❝ Yes - yes sir ! ❞ Classic Denki, absolutely smooth.

Rima was more than happy to make her way to the dorms after being requested. She rarely turned down requests for a visit. No matter what it was.

She took her time to open the door, slightly distracted with her phone before putting her full attention into turning it.

When the sound of the group hit her ears she jumped, and met each of them with an enthusiastic smile.

One full of warmth, and adoration for the group. "I wasn't expect it at all. Thank you all for doing this." She looks to Denki and smiles even more softly to him.

Today is a good day! Why, you may ask? Well... it's because it's big sis Rima's birthday! So of course Denki was buzzed beyond comprehension, the excitement he felt was immeasurable as he knelt behind the sofa with his classmates... all waiting to surprise Rima with a party! Chuckled hushes rung throughout the room as they all giggled whilst waiting.

Denki had messaged Rima, asking if she could come to the campus so he could give her her present. The goofy teen had lied to Rima (a little white lie can't hurt, can it?) by mentioning that he had been grounded by Aizawa after breaking the washing machines- but still wanted her to give her gift. It was the perfect little lie!

The sound of the door clicking caused everyone to turn to complete silence, everyone watched in anticipation (it was as if time slowed) as the handle slowly turned down... then, the door opened! The whole class erupted into cheers and 'whoops', however Denki's ❝ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! ❞ was the loudest. With the sound of a party popper that the electrifying boy just released as the coloured string danced throughout the air, he ran up to Rima with the widest grin . ❝ I bet ya weren't expecting that, where you? ❞

Hanta had gone to bed not too long before midnight. He wasn't the type to stay up to watch the clock tick onto his special day. It would be his birthday when he woke up anyways. So he was fast asleep, the gentle swing of his hammock that cradled him like a newborn soothing him, as time passed listlessly in dreamless sleep.The buzz of his phone didn't even register to his unconscious body, leaving him wholly unaware of his approaching fate.

The gentle sound of rolling waves coming from his sound machine and the lingering scent of orangey citrus and cinnamon from his oil diffuser were no match though to the whirlwind that was Hanta's bestest of pal, Kaminari Denki. The loud rapid banging startled him out of his sleep, spine shooting up, eyes wide and frantic in the milliseconds it took to rouse him out of his sleep. Just as quickly as he was upright, he was being swung upside down, the fabric of his hammock constricting his legs to keep him from trying to stop the momentum, and unceremoniously dropped to the ground with a cacophonous thud against the hardwood flooring. He groaned, the blanket he was using covering his face but did little to dampen the sound of his friend outside calling his name.

Present, what present? God, what time even was it right now? He kicked his feet out of the tangle of fabric and sheets, and got himself off the ground with a heavy sigh. Fuck, his shoulder was going to hurt like hell later. He threw on a t-shirt from off the floor and wandered over to the door with lazy steps. "I'm coming, stop knocking so loud you're gonna wake up the whole campus."

He takes a moment to try and smooth down any unruly spots in his hair but gives up when they immediately spring back up into a frazzled bedhead mess. He takes the handle, words already slipping out as he turns the knob to answer his friends call. "Kaminari, my main man, what can I do for you?" None the wiser of the waiting party popper surprise as the door fully swings open to reveal his tired and disheveled form.

The clock had just struck midnight. The day now the 28th of June. Which, to Denki, is an incredibly important day... as its his best pal Sero's birthday! With eyes incredibly wide and a brain that goes at millions of miles per hour, Denki was sat straight up in his bed. Energy drink in one hand (which he probably shouldn't be drinking) and his slightly cracked phone in his other.

Grabbing his shirt he messily dressed himself, chucked the empty monster can into the bin and slammed open his door- without thinking, no thoughts about his classmates who were trying to sleep. Surely some of them would be up anyway- so who cares! Plus, it's Sero's birthday right now and that's what matters.

Just as he was about to get to the end of the corridor he realised he forgot the key part of his surprise for Sero. He quickly dashed back to his room, grabbed the surprise and ran the fastest he has ever ran his entire life. Plenty of gasps for breath and multiple pants for air as his figure leaned against Sero's door.

"Sero! My dude, open the door- right now!" Rapid knocks, an unusual amount of knocks (however, for Denki it could be considered a normal amount) made the door shake as Denki shouted for his friend to open the door. Whether he was asleep or not, Denki didn't care- its his birthday! He should be awake and celebrating. Not sleeping. "I got you a present! You gotta open it- you're gonna love it!"

Readied up, Denki held the party popped in his hand with the little string in his other. Mentally preparing himself for when the birthday boy opens the door. Yet.. perhaps it should be Sero preparing himself. With Denki stood behind his door- shaking from the excitement of popping the party device in his hands.
