So I learned how to use custom portraits in Rogue Trader and decided to photoshop this picture and change it up
Original on the left. New one on the right

And then here's what it looks like in the character creator

I cannot wait to start this playthrough!

So Rogue Trader does not hold your hand and I am okay with that. I've decided that this first playthrough is just practice. I'm not thrilled with my OC and some of the choices she's made
Also, I learned that I missed the opportunity to recruit two different companions in act 3. Plus I might have missed out on an entire reputation because I didn't talk to a specific person in a bar in act 2. Oops
The game is fun enough for me that I know I'm going to play a couple of times, even with the huge time sink that it is (It's like twice the length of VG, time wise)
Next, I'm going to play a dogmatic priest-type who will romance Cassia. I'm basing him completely on this photo of Jude Law in 'The Young Pope'

Then Charity will get another chance. But I'm going to revamp her a bit. Definitely a different look. Maybe even a different background. Basically a different character completely with the same name. I really enjoy the irony of the name Charity for the Rogue Trader. She'll still romance Heinrix though!
(Also, since like a quarter of my dash is playing the game, I'll put in spoiler tags for which act I'm talking about, cause I don't want to ruin things for anyone!)

Hate doing this, but I'm restarting Eldrien's game. Didn't do my due dilligence when choosing his starting archtype. I really wanted him to be a melee bounty hunter, so I made him a soldier, but that's ranged, not melee
Then as I'm figuring out more about him, I realized that he would never be at the front lines. He's a freaking coward. So he needs to be ranged
Soldier can be ranged, but he would never be a soldier. (Because coward) So I think operative makes far more sense. He's gonna be all about debuffs, because then he doesn't have to work as hard to kill people
If he's an operative, I think Grand Strategist would make sense. Not that he is, in any sense of the word, but because then he can be lazy and focus on buffs and debuffs and let the other party members do the heavy lifting
Charity 2.0 can be a melee bounty hunter, except I sort of want to make her a space mage. So maybe then I need to create a third Rogue Trader who can be a heretic and a bounty hunter
Decisions decisions!

So that very first conviction choice threw me for a loop. Iconoclast wasn't happening. Even though Eldrien is a priest, he could care less about the trapped crew members
That left Dogmatic or Heretical. I first choose Heretical, cause I was like, no way is he willing to walk through that fire. So I played that a couple of minutes, and then was like, 'hey wait a second. the warp creature promised power. Eldrien has absolutely no interest in power'
Which meant Dogmatic, so I decided to go that way and he's gonna use his acting abilities to fool the crew into thinking he gives a shit (he doesn't)
It should be fun to play!

So I am going into the Cassia romance completely blind. The only thing I know is that it's a 'courtly romance'
And I just got the sweetest scene between them on Janus, when she sees the ocean for the first time
Eldrien is a cowardly asshole, but I think I'm gonna play it that Cassia ends up making him a better person. Not a good person (I mean, he just tried to attack Yrilet, so no recruiting her) but better than he is now!

For whatever reason, this exchange makes me ridiculously happy. Totes canon that my Rogue Trader is a chain smoker lol

Okay, I am barely into this run, and I'm already enjoying more than Charity's game. Sorry Charity!
I've decided that first and foremost, Eldrien is a coward. He will do anything to save his hide. Most of the time that's hiding behind dogma and controlling people with words (I mean, who would attack a priest?)
Sometimes? It's saying to the traitor that he will absolutely help as long as he's not killed
Another thing that's interesting is how much the OC voice can make a difference. RT has a voiceless protagonist, but does combat barks, just like Origins
I really didn't like the voice I chose for Charity. It grated on my nerves every time she said something. But I'm really digging the voice I'm using for Eldrien. It really reminds me of Kurt's voice in Greedfall

It's not perfect, but custom portrait is fantastic
Also, I forgot how weak the RT is at the beginning. My first 4 our of 5 shots missed their target
