The copy I watched was a fairly bad-quality VHS rip, and about a third of the film is lost. It was also running too fast at 24fps (the curse of silents) so I had to manually slow it down in VLC, lending the already-droney soundtrack a weird, otherworldly quality that really suited the film. With the missing material it was more of a sketch and a mood than a fleshed-out drama but Stiller is so amazing at creating atmosphere that it didn't need more plot. Just cruel nature and cruel people and mistakes and regret and an angelic woman backlit in the snow.
