Two different people have tagged me in this recently, so I’m gonna combine em together.

First, @eighteenbelow:

1. Have you ever played a musical instrument?: I play bass! Not super well, but I’ve been in a few fun garage punk bands. Making music with people is amazingly fun even if you’re only marginally talented.

2. Where do you see yourself in ten years?: Oh god, hell if I know. I just keep hoping I win Publisher’s Clearing House

3. Do you like any foods that are considered weird? (ie lutefisk or something): I am a super picky eater, so I don’t think so. I like honey on chicken and/or fish, but I don’t think that’s that weird.

4. What genres of movies do you typically like?: Superhero movies, action, comedies, dysfunctional families

5. As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?: I cried myself to sleep as a child because I never wanted to grow up. It wasn’t something I ever gave any serious thought.

6. What was your favorite subject at school?: English

7. What kinds of things/coping strategies help calm you?: DISTRACTIONS. I’ve gotta find a way to distract myself. Sometimes it’s just social media/a good show or book, sometimes if it’s present and intense I’ll have to leave the situation making me anxious.

8. Classic Calendar Man or Kite-Man: which would you prefer as your new friend?: Kite-Man, hell yeah!

9. Which rock or mineral is your favorite?: I wish I knew more about rocks and minerals. I’m gonna say Amethyst, but only because of Steven Universe

10. Do you prefer coffee or tea?: Tea. I don’t drink either much though. I’m not big on hot drinks in general, but coffee makes me have to pee every fifteen minutes for the rest of the day, so tea gets a benefit there.

11. What kinds of things do you like to collect?: I collect comic books haha. When I was a kid I collected magnets in the shape of states and was trying to assemble the entire country. But in general I’m not much of a “collector,” I don’t have enough room and money to buy things just for the sake of having them. I have a lot of comics, books, and music, but because I use all of it.

1. What was the last song you listened to?: Firefight by Jimmy Eat World

2. Favorite childhood toy?: When I was very young, my stuff Dalmatians (From 101 Dalmatians). It was my Batman action figures when I got old, and specifically my giant Batcave/Wayne Manor playset

3. What did your childhood imaginary friend look like?: I, sadly, didn’t have one. I had this little baby doll I pretended was my little brother Andrew, but that’s about the extent of it. I had a big imagination and was (am) always daydreaming, but I was never convinced that any of it was real.

4. What was the last nice thing someone did for you?: Good question! Other than people holding doors for me, I guess it’s a good friend I don’t get to spend a ton of time with inviting me out to hang last night?Oh! Nah, it was another friend giving me a ride home from when I wanted to ditch my family yesterday.

5. What’s your favorite day of the year?: Is it weird to say September 29th, the anniversary of the day I was Roadie for a Day/first met Saves the Day? I always like remembering that. Otherwise my favorite days are when new seasons of TV shows start or when new books come out of when I get to go to a good show, and those come randomly throughout the year.

6. Who was the best teacher you ever had?: My 12th year English teacher gave me a lot of encouragement in my writing. He kept the paper I wrote about Young Frankenstein to show future classes as an example and even read the novel-length Dragonball Z fanfiction I wrote that year, which only becomes more momentous the older I get. I appreciated him a lot.

My fourth grade teacher was basically Miss Frizzle, I loved her too. We always had great field trips, class experiments, and we had a class pet snake. The entire school would come each week to watch it eat a mouse.

7. What is the best TV show of all time?: There’s probably no such thing because what everybody’s looking for in a TV show is different. Of shows I love, I’d say only I Love Lucy and Mad Men are even in competition. But man, no other show makes me feel the way Parks and Rec does

8. How many black t-shirts do you own?: I just counted 12 (plus a couple of black sleeveless shirts), but not all fit me atm

9. Are you a fish person, or a lizard person?: Definitely fish.

10. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?: I feel like I’d need to see more of the world before I could fully make that decision. Like, I’ve never been off the East Coast. Based off my limited experience, I’d probably say Philadelphia. I have a lot of friends there, it’s a great place to see shows, and it’s still very close to my friends and family in Delaware. And I don’t lose that sweet Northeast show traveling location.

11. What was the last book you read?: I am very ashamed to say that I haven’t read any novels in 2017. I’ve read a metric ton of comic books and graphic novels and a bunch of Readers Digests tho.

I had to look it up and it’s The Book Thief, which I enjoyed but isn’t a very interesting answer. 

(I have a Microsoft Word document of every novel I’ve read since 2011, which apparently amounts to 110 in total. I miss reading books. I need to get back to it)

How’s it going:

The cats are okay. My work is supportive, although I am doing more than they ask me to and need to rein that in for my own good. I miss my dog. The LOML and I are getting extremely pandemic-stressed.

I have been dealing with meds adjustment over the last two weeks, and also joint issues in my hands. Writing and knitting are both being difficult.

I am tired and stressed a lot of the time, and trying to take joy in the little things. Birds are visiting the birdfeeder and I can hear a cat snoring right now from across the room.

Last night I had about four hours of sleep, and this morning I nearly picked up the tealight holder that was next to my coffee cup, with the intention of sipping from it. (It was cup-shaped! And contained a bright flickering light! I feel I cannot be held overly responsible for this.)

I feel a bit overwhelmed, but am continuing to step forward.

The Pride Parade today ended in the park and after some ice cream I saw the playground I had used in visualizing your fanfic.

A song you like with a colour in the title: New Black Gold by miracleofsound. It’s a Deus Ex song and it’s amazing.

A song you like that is a killer cover of a famous song: Johnny Cash 'Hurt'. I was blown away by this.

A song that reminds you of summertime: Aquarius(Let the sunshine in) by Ffth Dimension. May or may not be on the list because it was in the Disney’s Recess movie.

A song you like with a number in the title:A thousand miles by Kelly Clarkson....on this list because of a vid I once saw of a GTA IV mod where the model of the protagonist’s car was replaced with a piano... I enjoy the small things in life :D

A song that needs to be played LOUD: Warcraft Lich King Main Theme. I played WCIII and later WOW during Uni until I had to stop bc of not having enough time. When I installed the game again and this music played... it felt so much like coming home. I watched the cinematic trailer that plays before the game and just sat in silence for a few minutes after.

A song that makes you want to dance: Superhero (nightcore version. Did I mention that I love nightcore? Because I DO! The increased speed is glorious! Sometimes... sometimes the world drags and is so damn slow and it makes my skin crawl and then I increase the speed on normal songs until they match the whirs of my brain...and nightcore is a valid genre of doing that! Yes, so much yes! Also gives me an extra boost in the gym so double yay!

A song to drive to: Come with me now by Kongos. On the list because of Borderlands... and also as the nightcore version bc the song is better that way! ...con, I can’t stand some songs in their normal speed now.

A song about drugs or alcohol: 10 kleine Jägermeister. Song by a German punk rock band...essentially ‘And then there were nine’ with cartoon deer. Trippy af.

A song that makes you happy: Happy by Pharell Williams. I enjoy simple things :D

A song that makes you sad: Tote Hosen 'Zu Besuch'. by the same punk rock band as the trippy ‘kill off drunk cartoon deer’ song. No, it really is. Lyrics get me everytime.

Confetti -- somehow -- erupted from behind the Great Saiyaman as he struck one final pose, marching on his tip-toes as he held both arms above his head, each hand holding out two fingers in the v-shaped ‘peace’ sign. A goofy grin filled his face, but as he finally looked towards the car full of thieves, he saw that they were long gone; they’d swerved off in the opposite direction the second he began his routine.

I think the only mutual I have who writes fic (other than you, Zach) is @eighteenbelow, so I’ll tag you, but if anyone else wants to do it, go ahead and say I tagged you!

Okay, it's been a really long... not seven months yet. Soon, but not yet.

I did an aesthetic, just with pictures that I took since lockdown started, of the things that have been nice. Cats. Jigsaws. My heart-shaped AO3 stress-ball. The train drawn for me by a little kid I have never met in person. Finally putting stickers on my laptop rather than hoarding them forever in-case.

Currently Reading:

I was reading Vera Brittain’s Testament of Youth but I stopped for a while, if only to reread my fic and try to make headway into that darn chapter 10. Very good read, a real eye-opener on WW1 and its aftermath from a nurse’s and woman’s perspective.

How’s it going:

Not bad! I mean, could be better for a number of reasons, but lunch was good, I munched on chocolate-covered marshmallow teddy bears, and I’m scraping up the courage to get off my chair and to the shops to buy onions and lardons for tonight’s flammekueche. At least I won’t have to go far, since the "big” malls where we usually shop for the week’s groceries are closed because covid. Of course it means a smaller range of choice but *shrug*
