It's ehōmaki season! They usually show up around Christmas, and I come back in January and get so excited that I'm usually sick of them by the time Setsubun rolls around and you're actually supposed to be eating them.
I think my enthusiasm would last longer for ehōmaki made with plain rice, like onigiri. Sushi rice is tasty too, but I reach critical mass with it much quicker. Maybe next month I'll celebrate with kimbap! Sure, they're not Japanese, but neither am I, and the sesame oil rice might be a nice change.
#ehomaki#sushi#it's the combo of sushi rice & pickles that i get sick of i think#it's so much sweeter than either component individually!!!!#(also: iggy is such a gentleman when he wants my food)

Ehomaki (Setsubun Sushi Roll) 恵方巻 | Recipe
The primary food on Setsubun is a sushi roll called ehomaki. This special sushi roll is made with seven fillings, representing the Seven Deities of Good Fortune called Shichifukujin. The type of ingredients are not as important as the number. You can choose your favourite seven sushi roll ingredients and roll them up tight to lock in the elements of good health, happiness, and prosperity. It is also very important not to cut the ehomaki for this same reason. Cutting the sushi roll, as would normally be done on any other day, would slice into your good fortune. There is one more essential practice to get this right. Eho (恵方) means “lucky direction.” So this special sushi roll is literally a Lucky Direction Sushi Roll. That means if you don’t eat it facing the lucky direction for that year (depending on the Chinese zodiac symbol), don’t count on dreams coming true this spring.

*HARROMPH*
#tsukuritai onna to tabetai onna#she loves to cook and she loves to eat#tsukutabe#this episode ALWAYS makes me laugh#there's a lot of silly moments in it#which is funny-odd because the middle of it is serious business#but then you have kasuga and nomoto shopping for setsubun#them having brainfarts on a simple word and kasuga nearly mimicking her comic counterpart in food-chomping and the ehomaki scene...lmao

For she loves to cook she loves to eat- do you prefer the manga or the TV show?
I do prefer the original manga, but that isn't to say I dislike the drama. I love it, too! However, if you have known me long enough via the type of art I make, or what I reblog/share on my journal blog/Twitter/etc, you know I love comedy. I love funny expressions and overaggerations of mundane things, and the manga has a tendency to be (by comparison) way more hilarious in its gags than the drama.
The drama does have some funny moments, too, but it's brand is much quieter (ex. Its version of the "just one more slice" stollen scene or the sushi mat scene from S2). I think the closest the drama got to similar vibes to the manga was when they were eating the ehomaki and Nomoto was trying hard to get Kasuga's attention to the falling ingredients. Or when Sayama reacted to The Good News. What a scene cut lmao
Oh! And the trip to pick vegetables. I think that was the most energetic it got for humor, when Kasuga fell over picking that giant daikon and the ladybug moment...ah that was fun~
But anyway, the manga just stands a little higher on my pedestals, and not even because "the OG is always better" mindset! Just...funnier lol
Also...a little flirtier.
#asks#tsukuritai onna to tabetai onna#she loves to cook and she loves to eat#tsukutabe asks#heck i draw and write between the two versions a lot#they each have fun little things to add to the table~#i am still amazed at how well it got adapted for tv though#even the two original episodes in s2 still had the same vibes going on

Dear, Vector Prime.
Are there any other Botbots besides Wasabi Breath that transform into sushi?
Dear Itamae Interested,
There certainly are, a handful that mostly clustered together under the ranks of the Hibotchi Heats.
The self proclaimed leader was Shogun Tekkatron, who turned into a hosomaki roll. In his robot mode he was a fierce commander, clad in nori-armor, feared and respected across the mall—although he also lacked any weaponry and mostly just sat on a chair while the others went about their days.
Foxy Fierce was one of the most dramatic of their clique, often ending up in a duet with Drama Sauce. His kabuki-inspired facial insignia was so impressive that it could frighten particularly nervous bots, so he often remained in inarizushi form when around others.
Lucky Sevens is one of the most friendly of the gang, spending a lot of her time hanging around with the Seasons Greaters. Like Shogun Tekkatron she turns into hosomaki, but her variety is what I believe is called ehomaki.
While not a true piece of sushi or even a full member of the Hibotchi Heats, the Lost Bot Sensei Spicy was commonly associated with them. This wandering warrior was happy to help out bots of any gang, although most found her sharp comments and acidic tone too grating to actually listen to. She turned into a wasabi stem, and her biggest rival was Hojonigiri, the rancid riceball from the Spoiled Rottens.

Miraitabi New Year's Resolutions
To defend my hometown from other divisions and the bad people
Maybe to make more 100 friends (other rival teams included if they don’t mind)
To be able to graduate my last year together with everyone, perhaps I’ll try to set up the farewell mini-concert on the graduation day with my clubmates
To drag that old man out of his house more often, sunlight is essential to your health dude!
To find some clues about Ojou-chan
To help my friends achieve their own wishes
To enter the territory under Chuohku and finds nee-san
To bring more smiles out of my customers
Same as YuuYu! Wanna make more 100 friends, is it really possible for someone like me?
To eat ehomaki with everyone on Setsubun
To be more useful for my team
To stop being a chicken already
To creates a brand new wagashi that the world never have before
To be a bit more ambitious, might attempt to promote my shop overseas!
To make even greater profits (from trading) than the previous year
To have a peaceful stay-at-home life everyday, so it’s not today brat!
But still, gotta take the kids on more field trips
To completely succeed my smoking cessation
To schedule some days off for Chishio, seriously he works too much
To find out what those bitches trying to hide
Whatever …to help those kids solve their problems, I guess
