The Essential Benefits of Eggcrate Grilles for Ventilation
In the world of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), airflow management is crucial for ensuring efficiency and comfort in both residential and commercial spaces. One of the most effective solutions for optimizing airflow is the eggcrate grille. This type of grille not only enhances the performance of HVAC systems but also contributes to the overall aesthetics of a space. If you’re considering upgrading your ventilation system or simply want to learn more about eggcrate grilles, Vic Air Supplies is your go-to source for quality products and expert advice.
What is an Eggcrate Grille?
An eggcrate grille is a type of ventilation grille designed with a grid-like structure resembling an egg carton. This design allows for even airflow distribution while minimizing noise levels, making them ideal for various HVAC applications. Eggcrate grilles are often used in commercial buildings, offices, theaters, and even residential spaces to improve air circulation while maintaining a visually appealing look.
Key Benefits of Using Eggcrate Grilles
1. Enhanced Airflow Efficiency
One of the primary benefits of eggcrate grilles is their ability to enhance airflow efficiency. The open grid design allows air to flow freely in multiple directions, reducing resistance and promoting better circulation throughout the space. This means your HVAC system can operate more efficiently, resulting in consistent temperature control and improved comfort.
2. Reduced Noise Levels
Traditional grilles can sometimes create unwanted noise as air passes through them. However, eggcrate grilles are designed to minimize turbulence, which significantly reduces noise levels. This is particularly beneficial in environments such as offices, hospitals, and theaters where a quiet atmosphere is essential. By using eggcrate grilles, you can create a more serene environment without sacrificing airflow quality.
3. Aesthetic Appeal
Eggcrate grilles not only function effectively but also enhance the aesthetics of a space. Their modern, sleek design fits seamlessly into various interior styles, from contemporary to industrial. Available in different colors and finishes, you can choose an eggcrate grille that complements your decor while providing essential ventilation.
4. Versatile Applications
Eggcrate grilles are versatile and can be used in numerous applications. Whether you need them for ceiling ventilation, wall returns, or as part of a larger air distribution system, eggcrate grilles are adaptable to your needs. Their ability to perform well in different environments makes them a popular choice for architects, builders, and HVAC professionals.
5. Easy Installation and Maintenance
Installing eggcrate grilles is straightforward, making them a practical choice for both new constructions and retrofitting existing systems. Most eggcrate grilles are designed for easy installation, requiring minimal tools and effort. Additionally, maintaining these grilles is simple—regular cleaning to remove dust and debris is usually all that’s needed to keep them functioning optimally.

Egg crate foam for mattresses
Foam mattress toppers are great for making sure enhanced convenience. They can be used as an extra luxury for current mattresses or better aging mattresses where support should be improved. Similarly, many people use a mattress topper to facilitate joint and back pains, including arthritis.
Convoluted foam toppers, also known as Eggcrate foam, are a great option for several reasons.
Convoluted foam mattress toppers come in different sizes and shapes, not necessarily representing the egg crate shape. Some have more striking points, and others are like wave. The shape of the egg crate is known for its massaging feel and the substantial developments to blood flow. Similarly, the open crate shapes help for sound airflow across the body.
For these reasons, convoluted foam toppers are also quite popular in the medical and healthcare space, and for those with physical requirements that need sufficient support like sciatica and back pain.
With extra airflow under a patient, the hazard of fevers and bedsores are lessened. Machine enclosure foam is highly supportive, even more than memory foam, as it is not viscoelastic, implying it does not mould to the body as rapidly.
The foam toppers are admired for their natural orthopedic qualities, which assist to keep the spine aligned in the same way as memory foam toppers.
In respect to foam panels, the responsive structure of convoluted foam toppers offer good weight deployment. The dips and peaks present in the egg crate shape assist to lessen pressure on hips and shoulders, making them a great, supportive solution for side sleepers. That being said, front and back sleepers can benefit just as well from the strong support of this mattress topper.
For the best level of support, we suggest selecting foam baffles. For a bit low firmness, this foam is also available with a medium density.

Which acoustic foam is the best?
Acoustic foam is an effective way to eradicate reverberations and absorb sounds in your room. The foam panels are made from robust, open-cell polyurethane that can substantially reduce the amount of echoes and noise.
Sound can be absorbed by various materials, depending on the type. Machine enclosure foam is one of these types as it is both porous and soft. When a sound wave comes in contact with this foam, it converts some of that energy to heat which causes decay much faster if there was no material present at all.
Different densities of Machine enclosure foam
Machine enclosure and eggcrate foam comes in different shapes and densities. The biggest difference in performance is its density, not the actual design or shape of the acoustic foam.
Every density absorbs sound waves at various frequencies. The different shapes provide different aesthetic textures and qualities.
Thinner acoustic foams offered by Technifoam will absorb high and mid spectrum sound waves while denser foam panels absorb mid, high and lower end sound waves.
One inch dense eggcrate foam will provide you maximum value for your money. One inch foam panels are thin in respect to our other foams, but are still effective for lessening flutter echoes and controlling the mid and high frequency ranges.
Two inch acoustic foam provides better sound absorption, and will handle the mid to high frequency ranges.
Various shapes of eggcrate foam
As we mentioned before, the main difference in the performance of acoustic foam is the density, not the actual style or shape of the panels. Nonetheless, different shape and textures provide you different options for the aesthetics in your room.
Remember that machine enclosure foam is used for sound absorption. It is not used for preventing sound from going through a ceiling or wall.

i FINALLY got the 16.5 gallon cycling for the shrimps .. ive had this tank sitting for a little over a year now so its good to get all the water loaded up and the filter and bubbler running on it
#shrimp postin#the lighting is so blue in this pic but its only half this blue in the real#the water is just cycling for right now (im going to have to let it cycle for atleast 4 months)#but im thinking what im going to do with this tank if i put my shrimp in it#instead of the other 20gal rectangular one ive also been saving#is ive gotta fuck with the filter and cordon it off underneath some eggcrate light diffuser and foam or something#because if i put them in this tank with how strong this filter is proving to be they'll just die instantly because theyre so fucking small#i might just not use mechanical filtration altogether and just go with walstad filtration#thats my dream with these guys honestly is find a brackish couple of plants i can do walstad with. thats so ideal.#because almost any filter either bothers these guys too much or kills them. even bubble stones bother them if theyre too high#but whats most important now is to season the water and get it cycling

Chevrolet Corvette S.O. 2151 Prototype, 1954. A one-off GM Styling Department “Proposal Car” for an abandoned 1955 facelift is to be offered at auction. The Corvette body was restyled to incorporate several new features: a decorative hood scoop, eggcrate front grille, bumper-exit exhaust tips, and a re-styled trunk design. Another element of the new design were the slanted front-fender vents, painted body color on the passenger side and trimmed with chrome on the driver side – giving GM executives two different looks to choose from. The car has undergone an 1,800 hour restoration using period photographs to ensure that the work was as accurate as possible, including re-creating missing trim pieces.

EvolutionGear IS-EG NGAL Laser Aiming Module
For those of you that shake your fist to the heavens cursing L3Harris for not releasing a civilian version of their famed NGAL, you're probably at least tangentially familiar with EvolutionGear -
They do the OEM parts manufacturing for InvisibleSight, who offers a higher quality level of QC, but is infamous for their astonishingly long lead times.
EvolutionGear sells the 'cheaper' version of the IS-EG NGAL which you can buy direct from them if you wanna bypass the year-long inspection wait and don't need all the different options offered through InvisibleSight.
Before I get into the details of the unit itself, I'd like to clear up a lot of myths about EG - the common consensus about them is that they're known for not shipping their items, but from my own research, I really could only find an evidence case of one from a dude who was dumb enough to order during Chinese New Year and threw a tantrum when it took longer than expected to receive a tracking.
I opted for the more expensive UPS shipping option, and while it was kinda awkward having to wait for a live representative to email me a paypal invoice rather than going though a site-based payment portal, I didn't have any issues ordering from them and everything arrived within a week of receiving a tracking.
Here's where I'll get into the initial impressions.
The body of the unit is forged 6061 aluminum, and unlike the Somogear NGAL's, these actually have recoil lugs integrated into the body with a proper L3Harris-style screw clamp, as opposed to the crappy PEQ15 clamp the Somo units have.
The selector switch, I find somewhat mushy (due to the integral o-ring added for waterproofing), but still tactile enough to satisfy me, and the button has a positive enough click for my needs as well. The rear focus knob for the IR illuminator is a little bit stiff, but no major red flags about it.
Another nice feature of the EG NGAL is the fact it includes actual diffuser caps whereas the Somo units are only provided with blackout covers. The visible potting of the unit seems very well-done and I'm definitely excited to see how well this holds up considering EG touts this as a 5.56-capable laser where Somogear continues to scream "airsoft only" from the rooftops.
The unit included two different sets of stickers (one laminated, one not, interestingly) as well as a pressure pad and an eggcrate-padded plastic storage case.
The pressure pad is where I'm going to focus a majority of my initial critique.
On the website, EvolutionGear claims they offer the option of an LA23 Plug or an ATPIAL Crane Plug version. I triple checked that I'd be receiving a crane-ported NGAL, and the customer service acknowledged this.
The switch they provided is an LA23 version and upon testing the port with a surplus Insight PEQ-2 Pressure Pad, there was no function from the laser, meaning my request was completely disregarded and I'd been given an LA23-ported version instead.
Not a humongous deal to me, but it would have been nice to have a wider choice of aftermarket switches instead of proprietary ones that cost 100-300 fucking dollars.
Anywho, the switch they include is what I'd describe as solidly "meh" - it feels like a very cheap silicone, the click is positive enough, but the cable is visibly hot glued in and it's just left me wishing that Somogear offered their fantastic Modbutton Lite knock-offs a la carte.
Might email them later to see if I can get one.
The build it resides on presently is my FDE A2 Retromod, and despite being an offset beam unit, I still find the lasers are just a little too close to a standard FSB for my comfort.
I plan on possibly doing a URG-I build out of my Colt LE6920 in the near future, so this is definitely not the build the EG NGAL is staying on forever.
Later I'll give it a look under NODs and see how that goes.

what’s it like keeping reptiles that eat insects? like where/how do you house the insects, how long would you have them for, do they reproduce while you have them, do they escape often? thank you😊😊
It's pretty simple! Roaches typically ship in cups with eggcrate you can keep them with, you just have to feed them. I mostly fed carrots.
For superworms I kept them in a 6qt bin full of oatmeal! They'd burrow in there and eat it, and I'd supplement them with carrots and fish food mostly.
I didn't have ANY escapes, but they also did not reproduce as I never attempted. My lizards weren't big enough to eat adult dubia so I'd buy small ones every month or two. The superworms need some extra steps to breed them. I prefer to just buy them, than getting into all that. If I kept more lizards, it would make sense to breed them! Right now my only lizards eat Pangea mix, so no live bugs at all.
With flightless fruit flies, I did try breeding them but I was really hit or miss with the culture taking off or crashing, and the supplies were a bit costly for my failures. I don't know, they were fine I guess, it was working. If I did flies again I'd probably breed them again too. Stick them in the fridge for a minute to slow them down before opening the lid though!! When they are fast, that's when you'll have a PROBLEM. I take it back I did have escapes when I didn't know to fridge them for a minute at first. I was like HOW do people DO THIS? Flies everywhere and I was on a desperate mash frenzy. Pure chaos. Maybe I should do flies again though lmao.

Last night, some friends and I looked up "vortexes" which got me into a Wikipedia Hole about mathematical geometry concepts that look like wizard's runes. I learned about the "Tulsi Couple"- a circle, rolling inside a circle twice it's size, and how a point on the inner circle's edge will only travel in a straight line relative to the bigger circle.
I didn't really know what to do with this information. However, when I went to bed, my schizo activated.
I wanted to devise a shape that the inner-circle would roll on, that would create a single, straight line that extended forever in one direction. (In the Tulsi Couple, the point travels back and forth-- I wanted a one-way line.) My thought was this could explain time- the 4th Dimension that only travels in one direction (in our perception.)
I modeled a few ideas in my brain for a while before I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I made this rough concept (I didn't measure) for what I think would be the solution.
The Tulsi Eggcrate of Time.

Simply beautiful 1937 Packard Super Eight Victoria Convertible
The Packard Super Eight was the larger of the two eight-cylinder luxury automobiles produced by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan. It shared frames and some body types with the top model Packard Twelve. The 1933-1936 Packard Super Eight was a big classic.
In 1937, it was reduced to a smaller and lighter design. Following the discontinuation of the Sixteenth Series Twelve after the 1939 model year, a new Custom Super Eight One-Eighty was derived from the Super Eight as the new top car range. The Super Eight was renamed the Super Eight One-Sixty starting a naming convention change in 1940. These two models shared most mechanical components including the 160 HP straight Eight engine and continued to be regarded as the Senior Packard.
After 1942, Packard concentrated on the new Clipper styling that was developed for an upper-class sedan the previous year. There were Super Clippers and Custom Super Clipper in the One-Sixty and One-Eighty tradition until 1947. After a heavy facelift, the name Clipper was dropped.
The most senior Super Eight One-Eighty became the Custom Eight, while its slightly lower-priced sibling, the Super Eight One-Sixty, once again became simply the Super Eight. Clipper Custom Super Eights and Custom Eights were very close relatives to their respective Super models, distinguished outside by the lack of an eggcrate grille and small rear chrome trim moulding under the trunk lid on Supers. In 1949, a new Super Eight Deluxe was added to the line. This car had also the Custom Eight's eggcrate grille, but not the rear trim.
The entire range of Packard's motorcars was renamed for the 1951 model year (twenty-fourth series), when the Super Eight was renamed 400.

Lighting Small Spaces For Video
Do you want high quality video lighting, but you're limited to a small space?
This is a very common struggle for video shooters. A formal studio can be expensive to rent (or build). Also it can be inconvenient because it requires you to travel to it and maybe schedule it ahead of time.
If you're like a lot of people, you might want to set up some lights in your house and shoot video where it's inexpensive and convenient -- right in the comfort of your own home.
But how can you create high quality lighting in a small space?
It's simple if you use the right techniques and equipment.
Here's how...
(By the way, for this example, I'm assuming you want to have a highly dramatic lighting style that doesn't require many lights or much space. This is a common look for talking-head style shots. And it doesn't cost a lot because you're using only one light source.)
Control Spill Light
Spill light is the extra light that goes places you don't want it to go. It "spills" onto other things in the image.
A common example of this is when you want a black background, but light accidentally gets on the background, so it doesn't appear black. Instead it appears dark gray.
When you want an endless black background, you need to keep the light off the background fabric.
How do you do that?
If you're using a soft box for your main light (key light), then you can insert an eggcrate to help direct the light forward. This reduces spill light dramatically.
Also, you might want to consider lighting more from the side of your subject, so you're not aiming as much toward the background.
The background material can have an impact too. I find that black background paper is too reflective, so I like to use a black fabric as the background in my video. It absorbs more light, so it's easier to make it go completely black.
Finally, try to distance your subject as far from the background as possible. I realize this might be a challenge because of limited space, but even if it's only a few feet, that can make a big difference.
Dramatic Lighting
If you want drama in your lighting, then you can use subtractive lighting (also sometimes called "negative fill") to keep light from getting into the shadows on the fill side of the face.
I like to use a black flag for this. It's basically another piece of black fabric on a wire frame, and I place it right outside of the video image.
The flag blocks light from getting into the shadows.
With deep black shadows on one side of the face, and a nice brightly exposed area on the other side of the face -- you now have highly dramatic lighting because of the contrast ratio.
Not only can this look have a big impact, but it doesn't require much equipment or space to work in.
Can you set up other lighting styles in a small space? Of course you can, but my goal here is to just share this one example.
Takeaways
1) Use an eggcrate to control spill light from a softbox.
2) Move the main light source to the side to help prevent light from spilling onto the background.
3) Use black fabric instead of paper as the background because it's less reflective.
4) Get distance between the subject and the background, because it will be easier to reduce spill light.
5) Use a black flag on the fill side to create darker shadows for a high contrast, dramatic look.
