Haikyuu!! Headcanons (9/?)
Who confesses first? / How did they get together?
KageHina: After a grueling day of summer training, Hinata and Kageyama collapse on their backs in the grass outside the gym. The underclassmen are still cleaning up, the squeak of their shoes floating out into the humid summer evening. And Kageyama knows they should get up, knows that Ennoshita will probably yell at them for not helping, but for once, it seems that Hinata wants a moment of quiet. It's so strange for silence to fall between them, and Kageyama turns his head to say something, but stops. The light pouring from the open gym door slants across Hinata's face and makes him almost glow, and it's not the first time Kageyama has wanted this, but it's the first time he's said it out loud. He's not even sure how Hinata hears his name, whispered on an exhale as if it were as natural as breathing, "Hinata..." and as their eyes lock, just as quietly but much more certain, "I want to kiss you."
BokuAka: Kuroo is super supportive when Bokuto tells him that he's going to confess to Akaashi. In fact, he might be too supportive. He definitely doesn't do anything to dissuade Bokuto's plans from getting bigger and more dramatic by the day as he prepares to tell Akaashi how he feels. Kenma tries to be the voice of reason, but Kuroo and Bokuto are having none of it. So, on his birthday, the only comfort Akaashi has is that the club room is isolated. Because when he walks in, his eyes almost bug out of his head. The room is wallpapered in the dozens and dozens of pictures and selfies that Bokuto and Kuroo have been taking over the two years that Akaashi has been at Fukurodani. Some of the pictures he recognizes—often he's cringing or rolling his eyes—but others just include him in the background as Bokuto points with a huge smile, and many are taken from a distance of him and Bokuto at practice, at training camps, on the train, walking home after school (???). As Akaashi's eyes dart over the photos, he finally realizes that Bokuto is standing in the middle of it all. Behind him is an enormous photo of the two of them that Kuroo must have taken. In it, they're sitting side by side on a courtside bench. Bokuto is leaning over to rest his head on Akaashi's shoulder. And Bokuto is beaming, and Akaashi's arm is up around him; his fingers are in Bokuto's hair, and the look on his face...the look on Akaashi's face is nothing short of pure devotion. "Horror" is close to what Akaashi's emotions have landed on in the 30 seconds since he opened the door, but the ordeal is far from over as Bokuto finally steps forward. He's wearing a t-shirt with their faces on it and holding a bouquet of flowers, and Akaashi is going to murder Kuroo, but then Bokuto reaches out and takes his hand and confesses his feelings. And Bokuto is so earnest, and his eyes are shining, and killing Kuroo will have to wait, because Akaashi has waited long enough for this and he's got to hug his boyfriend.
IwaOi: When Oikawa is confident, he blazes a trail for all those who come after him, but when things get dodgy, it's Iwaizumi who leads the way. Oikawa blames it on Iwa being born forty days before him. ("That's forty days you had to prepare for the horrors of this world before I entered it!" To which Iwa mutters, "The horror I should've prepared for was you.") Oikawa's been saying it since they were kids—"Iwa-chan, you go first! I think there's a spiderweb there," "You can light the first firework, Iwa-chan! Let me know if they're expired!," "The ocean is waiting, Iwa-chan! You get in first and chase away all the sharks." And Iwaizumi does, every time. He goes first, and he takes risks, and he keeps it together when things go wrong, because if he starts to cry, Oikawa will absolutely join in. So when it comes to the most terrifying "first," the one that feels like standing on the edge of a diving board dozens of meters up, the one that Iwa knows won't break them, but it could easily break him...Iwa goes first. They're in Tooru's backyard, and Iwa is cleaning out Mrs. Oikawa's flowerbeds (which she told Tooru to do, but he's focusing very hard on trying to pet a very fat bumblebee that's landed on a bright red flower). And when Iwa looks up and sees Oikawa, his tongue peeking between his lips as he gently strokes the bee, his eyes wide with wonder, it's like Iwaizumi's heart stops beating. Then Oikawa smiles and says, "Iwa-chan! He feels like a tiny kitten! Come here!" and Iwa knows he's done for. He goes to Oikawa's side—he always will—and dusts his hands off on his shorts. His fingers are trembling as Oikawa takes his hand, and he's right, the bee does feel like a kitten. The bee is also annoyed at being prodded by giant fingers and promptly finishes with the flower and flies away. And Tooru is talking; he's still holding Iwa's hand; and Iwa can't hear anything, but his eyes lock on his best friend and he remembers, Oh, right. I have to lead the way. So he takes a deep breath and gets to the point, moving his hands to rest heavily on Oikawa's shoulders and holding him at arm's-distance (and ignoring Oikawa calling him a brute when he cuts him off midsentence). "Hey, dumbass," Iwa starts, and he doesn't flinch that that's how it begins, because, how else would it? Oikawa squawks in indignation, but Iwa says his first name, and Tooru is listening now. Iwaizumi has been staring at the ground beneath their feet, but now he meets Oikawa's eyes and a sigh leaves his lips. He's trembling slightly, but a smile quirks one corner of his mouth and he leads the way—"This isn't going to change anything. I've put up with you for this long, so you know I won't leave, even if you tell me to. So, don't make it a big thing if you don't feel the same way—it wouldn't be the first time we've disagreed." A deep breath, the last one before the plunge, and Iwa holds his arms out to his sides, like a shrug, like a declaration—this is all of me and if you want it...—and grins, "I'm in love with you." And they step forward together.
(Keep reading: KuroKen, DaiSuga, AsaNoya, KiyoYachi, UshiTen) (all headcanons here+)
KuroKen: The line between "best friends" and "boyfriends" has never really been clear with Kuroo and Kenma. They've always been especially close, more so than most friends their age. Through the years that they've spent together, they've picked up each other's habits and learned the meanings of subtlest of movements, always seeming to know what the other needs before anything is said. More than once, their friends and families have called their preternatural bond "spooky," and Kuroo loves to say that it's because he and Kenma have a psychic connection, but the truth is that they're just both incredibly observant and devoted to each other. And that devotion, which was born from being together nearly constantly in childhood and was cemented by innumerable moments that proved their loyalty and trust and affection, doesn't lend itself to either of them noticing that things have shifted between them. So, after years of casual affection—best friendship—after countless nights murmuring their insecurities and reassuring each other, after proving to each other again and again and again that they'll be there, they'll carry the burden, they'll make each other laugh, they won't leave...it's not much of a surprise when Kuroo tips his head back from where he sits on the floor beside Kenma's bed and asks seriously but without worry (because no answer could change what they mean to each other), "Hey, Kenma, do you think we could try being more than friends?"
DaiSuga: It takes Daichi a long time to work up the courage to confess to Suga. First, he spends over two years in denial (because everyone fantasizes about kissing the beauty mark below their best friend's gorgeous eye). From there, he moves to terror and preemptive humiliation (and embarrasses himself further by avoiding Suga for a solid month because he can't even look at him without feeling like he's going to throw up). And by the start of their third year, he's settled firmly into depressed pining, and it's about this time that he finally consults Kiyoko in a desperate attempt to garner sympathy from someone who might not laugh at him. And she doesn't! She's supportive and encouraging and lets him wallow at her house while they watch emotional American movies with only somewhat reliable subtitles. And it's one of those movies that finally gives Daichi an idea, something that, if he does it right, could make Suga smile (and honestly, even if Suga rejects him, if he smiles while doing it, Daichi might be able to convince himself not to hide under a blanket until graduation). So, he gets everything ready and staves off an approaching heart attack when he rings Suga's doorbell. And Suga clearly, somehow, knows the reference, because the first thing he says is, "Oh, please don't wait to confess to me until after I've married someone else." And Daichi drops his cue cards, his eyes wide, but Suga's eyes are wider as he realizes what's happening and what his sass just interrupted. But Daichi is laughing (somewhat manically), and Suga has run down the steps and is hugging him and nodding nonstop and laughing too, and it definitely didn't go as he planned, but Daichi is okay with that.
AsaNoya: Noya confesses to Asahi before morning practice one day, cornering him outside the club room and dragging him out of view of passersby. He talks too loud and says too much (did he just blame his suspension on feeling like Asahi broke up with him??) and ends by ordering Asahi not to accept just because Noya could kick his ass. For several long moments after Noya speaks, Asahi isn't sure if he heard correctly. Maybe he fell asleep on his feet and dreamt the whole thing. Maybe Hinata served a ball into his head and he's actually in a volleyball-induced coma. Maybe he's finally lost his mind from the stress and anxiety of being on this team that he loves so much it might actually be killing him. But, no. Asahi's dreams and delusions couldn't summon up a Nishinoya this real. He's wearing a determined frown (which might pass for a worried expression, now that Asahi thinks about it) and is almost vibrating—either from nerves or caffeine—and he's waiting for an answer. Finally, Asahi closes his mouth that's been hanging open, and without even crying, nods. A smile breaks out over Noya's face and then Asahi is smiling too, and Noya rushes forward to hug his new boyfriend.
KiyoYachi: Kiyoko wants her confession to be perfect, so she waits for the right time—her graduation day—and tries not to crumple the letter that she's written and rewritten more times than she'd like to admit. She's decorated the envelope with delicate flowers that she's doodled in her notebooks for years, and she's even dabbed the seal with the perfume she wears. So, when Yachi comes to congratulate her, Kiyoko tugs her away from the crowds and gives her the letter with trembling fingers. And Yachi's eyes are so, so wide, and her hands are shaking too. And she drops the letter and makes a panicked noise in her throat as she snatches it off the ground, but now she's shaking too hard to open it. And before Yachi can pass out from her nerves, Kiyoko takes one of her hands and squeezes it gently. She smiles softly as Yachi's breaths steady, because she knows her. And she knows Yachi is going to accept her confession. And she knows—and wants Yachi to know too—that her girl has no reason to be nervous.
UshiTen: It's on one of his morning runs near the end of their third year that Ushijima finally decides he needs to ask Tendou the question that's been weighing on him for months, maybe years. So, as he does every morning, Ushijima finishes his run and hits the shower, then he gets ready for the day and walks the short distance to Tendou's room, knocking twice before letting himself in. (The door is always unlocked, because Tendou lost his room key the second week of school and refuses to believe he won't find it before the year ends.) When Ushijima enters, Tendou is awake and blearily brushing his wild hair, his tie askew and his blazer unbuttoned. It makes Ushijima smile—as much of a smile as he ever does...his eyes soften at least. And as always, Tendou notices and inquires about it. And then Ushijima meets his eyes and his voice almost wavers as he asks, "Satori, you're my best friend. Please answer honestly. Is it abnormal for me to feel for you in a way that aligns with typical descriptions of romantic love?" And Satori drops the hair brush and squeals, because Wakatoshi did not just confess to him with the world's most bizarrely worded question at seven o'clock in the morning in his dorm room—but he did, and they'll talk the details over later. After Tendou stops jumping up and down with his arms wrapped around Ushijima's shoulders like a vice.

This looking through gdocs notes was a bad decision. Or maybe a good one.
Tumblr media
I should be doing a lot of things that I am not doing. But instead of attempting to turn the lilttle plotbunny cowering in my head, for the shieldshock exchange, into a real piece of fluff I’m skimming through this graveyard of story pieces.
...
We have things like Darcy being Scott’s baby/foster sister:
“I know Thor.”
“What do you mean you know Thor?”
“You know that internship I took sophomore year at Culver?”
“Yeah?” Scott says scratching the side of his head.
“Dr Jane Foster in the desert,” Clint supplies. Darcy blinks slowly at Clint. “What I know stuff, kid.”
“Anyway, we hit the god of hammer pants with a car....andmaybeshockedhimalittlebittoo.”
“What was that last bit? Something about snickerdoodles?” Scott asks.
“Look, regardless of your ability to tase a god and be in the middle of saving the world twice, what can you do, kid?” Clint glowers.
“I’m great at computers,” Darcy says lifting her chin up.
“She really is. I taught her everything she knows,” Scott says proudly.
“Not everything. I never got caught.”
“Right, whatever, just get in the van, we have a flight to catch. Cap can deal with this shit.”
...
Or this one where Steve (and Darcy) get’s hit by a spell of kid!Loki’s that turns the good Captain and feisty intern into kids.
There’s nothing to eat,” Steve mumbles from the kitchen. He’s grown another inch in height despite the hunch of the teenager’s shoulders. Steve’s wearing a grey hoodie today, hair sticking up in odd tufts. The kid looks more like the teenagers of the modern era than the perfectly buttoned up shirt and pressed trousers he wore the day before. It’s however Loki’s spell works, memories of Steve’s teenage years washing up over the kid and meshing with the reality outside. Honestly, it’s enough to give the former assassin whiplash.
“The fridge is fulla food, punk. You ain’t looking hard enough,” Bucky says. It’s the wrong thing.
Steve’s mouth thins into a straight line, eyebrows pinching together. The refrigerator door slams shut with enough force the whole thing moves backwards and something falls inside it.
“You want some help, Stevie?” Bucky says in what he thinks is an even tone. Natalia would be proud.
“No,” Steve hisses, throwing open all the cupboards. There are two spots of red high on Steve’s cheeks that match the pink of the kid’s too big ears.
Bucky’s hit with a sense of nostalgia so hard he forgets to breathe. Steve looks like his younger self and not at the same time and it stirs up memories in Bucky as much as the magic fucks around with Steve’s very being. Steve was always such an angry little shit but it’s the first time he’s seen that real anger boiling under the surface of that stupid angelic face. It was easier a few weeks ago when Steve looked and acted like a little kid, a kid half confused by the magic running in his veins and twisting up memories of his missing mother and himself.
“Why don’t we order some pizza? I’ll invite Natalia, the bird brain and Darcy over.”
“Dar-ee,” Steve says around a mouthful of peanut butter. The kid’s face flushes red.
“Jesus fucking Christ, Steve, you better’ve washed your paws after punching the clown before digging into the peanut butter.”
“Fug you,” Steve snarls, face turning so red it was practically purple. He digs two fingers into the jar and scooping out a wad of peanut butter and shoved the whole thing in his mouth.
...
Okay that verse I remember because I spent weeks thinking about it and flooding @aenariasbookshelf with snippets of dialogue and headcanons for teenage dirtbag!Steve causing way more trouble as a serum enhanced teenager than he started as a skinny sickly thing. Or maybe he just gives Bucky grey hair now when Bucky is feeling old as balls dealing with Steve being Steve.
...
...because abo?
A minute after the Assemble alert chimes on his work phone Steve’s personal phone starts vibrating. "Fuck," he says meeting Darcy's eyes. "I just got back."
"It's okay,” Darcy murmurs her voice scratchy and low. “
"It's really not."
The phone starts vibrating again and Steve's shoulders drop. "Rogers."
"Why aren't you answering the fucking phone?"
"Busy."
"Busy my left nut, get your patriotic ass to HQ."
"Can't,"
"The fuck, Steve."
"You'll have to go without me," Steve says, choking a little. "This time."
"If you don't tell me what's going on right now I'm coming over and breakin' the goddamned door down."
"Buck,"
"Now, Steve,"
"It's...it’s personal," Steve hedges. Darcy slaps her hand over her mouth shoulders shaking with silent laughter. Steve forgets Bucky on the phone and growls, thrusting forward.
"Since when do you have a personal life? Damn it, punk, I'm coming to get you. ."
"No," Steve splutters, face draining of color. "You can't...we're..I've been courtin' a girl and..."
"Spit it the fuck out."
"I'm fucking knotted," Steve snarls. The line goes silent and Steve winces willing his knot to deflate and the world to fucking swallow him up whole. "Shit. Sorry. Sorry."
"Jesus and Mary fucking Joseph. We're having a talk when I get back."
"Buck."
"Use rubbers or you're naming the first cub after me."
....
Anyway I should probably go get something done and not looking at scraps of stories that went nowhere but at least they aren’t just in my head.

Haikyuu!! Headcanons (7/?)
Why does it work between them?
KageHina: Kageyama and Hinata are unflinchingly loyal to each other, even though, in some ways, they're foils of one another. Where Hinata has had to fight tooth and nail to get good at the sport he loves, Kageyama came into it with natural talent. Where Kageyama is strategic, Hinata relies on instinct. But in all of the ways that are important, on and off the court, they are indistinguishable. Their passion and drive pushes them both on. Their love for their team (and each other) makes them kind and compassionate. Their differences bring them closer together and help them to hold the other up when things are hard. But at their core, what makes Kageyama and Hinata work is their unshakeable loyalty to one another, their absolute trust and belief in each other, and their devotion to being the best—together.
BokuAka: Bokuto and Akaashi have complete faith in each other. Some people might see Akaashi as Bokuto's babysitter or the one who keeps him in line, but their relationship is so much more than that. Akaashi does rein Bokuto in when things get out of hand, but he also encourages his partner's enthusiasm. He's proud of Bokuto, and he's happy to support him in everything he does. And Bokuto adores Akaashi. He truly believes Akaashi can do anything and he wants to be someone who inspires his partner. Their support of each other is so important and so integral to who they are, both as individuals and as a couple. At the end of the day, that support and faith is what makes Bokuto and Akaashi work so well.
IwaOi: If a good friendship is the basis for a good relationship, Iwaizumi and Oikawa are set for life. They are best friends. More than just the common phrase "best friends," Iwa and Oikawa have been by each other's sides for (literally) longer than they can remember. They've seen every one of each other's awkward phases and epic failures, as well as all of each other's accomplishments and successes. They've grown up together and grown together and are who they are because of the friendship they share. Their lives have been inextricably intertwined for so long that being together is as easy as breathing. Iwaizumi and Oikawa's bond is unshakeable and that makes the love they share equally eternal.
KuroKen: Kuroo and Kenma see sides of each other that no one else does. They're so comfortable around each other and so in tune to each other's emotions that they can communicate without speaking. Kuroo can sense when Kenma is feeling anxious and is always the shield to calm him down. Kenma knows when Kuroo's feelings of inadequacy are raging and knows what to say to stop his thoughts from spiraling. But they also get to see positive things no one else notices—Kuroo loves Kenma's dry humor, and Kenma will never stop Kuroo's nerdy babbling when they're alone. In short, Kuroo and Kenma can be themselves together, and they'll always treasure that comfort and freedom.
(Keep reading: DaiSuga, AsaNoya, KiyoYachi, UshiTen) (all headcanons here+)
DaiSuga: Daichi and Suga are utterly devoted to each other. Like a sappy elderly couple that has been together for fifty years, they are a unit. Even when they were just friends, they found themselves searching for each other in crowded rooms, checking in constantly when they sensed even the slightest tremor in each other's moods. And once they realized how deeply in love they were, that devotion only grew. Sure, they still tease each other endlessly, but there's a palpable adoration behind all of their interactions. Their friends find it nauseating, but Daichi and Suga know that the intensity and singlemindedness of their connection is something to be envied.
AsaNoya: Asahi and Nishinoya challenge each other. They help each other be more and better. Without Noya, Asahi would almost never step out of his comfort zone. He wouldn't try new things and thus wouldn't find new passions and loves in the world. Their international travels were Yuu's idea, and Asahi will never be able to thank him enough for insisting on those adventures. And Noya knows that Asahi is a big part of why he is who he is—Asahi's presence alone has helped Noya grow as a person. Asahi makes Noya more patient, more compassionate. He makes Noya slow down and think more about how to talk to people and how to listen. They have very different personalities, but Asahi and Nishinoya bring out the best in each other and encourage each other to keep growing every day.
KiyoYachi: Yachi and Kiyoko are stronger together. At their core, they're more alike than people might originally think. Yachi's generalized anxiety is paralleled by Kiyoko's social anxiety. But when they're together, all of that seems to fade into the background. Yachi feels less nervous with Kiyoko's hand in hers; and Kiyoko can stand up to anyone when Yachi is by her side. Together, they feel braver and more capable, and when they squeeze each other's hands in silent encouragement, they feel like there's nothing they can't face. Kiyoko and Yachi may be nervous more often than they'd like, but with their partner's constant presence at their side, things get easier every day.
UshiTen: Tendou and Ushijima can be themselves together, fully, without reservation. Tendou is chaotic and outspoken around everyone, but he has quieter moments too, and he often feels uncomfortable being that way in public. With Ushijima, Tendou can relax. He doesn't feel the need to always be "on." He can curl up on the ground between his partner's knees while Ushijima watches television from the couch and Tendou doodles absentmindedly in one of his many sketchbooks. And Ushijima can be as stoic and serious as he always is, but Tendou will understand what's left unsaid and Ushijima won't feel pressured to explain. In many ways, they understand each other better than anyone else does. And that means that Tendou and Ushijima will always feel at home when they're together.

Haikyuu!! Headcanons (8/?)
Who stays up late? Who wakes up early?
KageHina: Early in their relationship, Kageyama and Hinata would try to outdo each other as to who could stay up longer or wake up earlier. But after settling into a life together, they arrive at a semblance of balance. Kageyama takes on a lot of his senpai Oikawa’s bad habits and tends to stay up too late with his anxieties or preparation. And though he would like to sleep in, Hinata wakes up with the sun, often rousing Tobio just as early with his shower-singing or the smell of coffee drifting into the bedroom. Tobio may be sleep deprived, but at the end of the day, he’s happy.
BokuAka: Bokuto sleeps like a rock when he finally crashes, though he’ll stay up as long as there’s something to hold his attention. Then he’s awake by six every morning, going on runs and doing errands before his day begins. Akaashi, on the other hand, stays up late working (to Kotarou’s dismay), but can luckily also sleep in a bit, being impervious to rousing before he’s good and ready.
IwaOi: Iwaizumi has spent his entire life forcing Oikawa to go to bed at a reasonable hour. He makes significant progress as they get older, convincing Tooru that he’s at his best when he’s not falling over from exhaustion. And Tooru does know that. But he also knows that his thoughts spin late into the night and sleep often evades him. But in the morning, they’re both slow to get up, and it’s often a battle of wills and ranking responsibilities that forces one of them awake to face the day, which is sure to pull the other up as well, like flowers drawn to each other rather than the sun.
KuroKen: If Kenma could be nocturnal, he would be. He loves late nights and hates mornings. He prefers quiet and dark and solitude, but Kuroo still tries to ensure that he’s awake for at least a few hours of daylight (“something something, circadian rhythms, something”). So Kuroo calls Kenma's phone on his lunch break and makes sure he's up, and Kenma is there to greet Kuroo when he gets home from work. Then Kuroo goes to sleep at a decent hour, resigned to the fact that Kenma may still be awake when Kuroo's alarm goes off in the morning.
(Keep reading: DaiSuga, AsaNoya, KiyoYachi, UshiTen) (all headcanons here+)
DaiSuga: Neither Suga nor Daichi is a morning person, but Daichi at least remembers that there are responsibilities he has to deal with before noon. So while Suga mutters and slouches through his morning routine, Daichi is up and ready to go. Then night comes and they both find themselves engaging in revenge bedtime procrastination, wanting just a few more minutes to talk or simply be together before they have to continue the daily grind when the sun comes up.
AsaNoya: Asahi needs eight hours of sleep to function properly in society, so he tries his best to be in bed early. Nishinoya sometimes prevents that with last-minute thoughts or ideas late in the evening, but Asahi has learned to put his foot down. After all, Noya might be a ball of energy, but he loves snuggling before Asahi falls asleep and loves even more waking up in his arms—and Noya is always the first awake. Like a songbird with the rising sun, Yuu greets each morning enthusiastically and joyously (and occasionally loudly...), and without even planning to, Asahi grows to like mornings.
KiyoYachi: Kiyoko and Yachi follow the same sleep patterns almost to the minute. On mornings that they have to wake up early, they're in bed together by nine and up easily with their alarms. On nights when they can sleep in the next day, though, they're happy to stay up late marathoning movies or tv shows and falling asleep tangled together on the couch, only for Yachi to wake a few hours later and gently stroke Kiyoko's hair until she wakes too and they stumble to bed hand in hand.
UshiTen: Until they moved in together, Ushijima was relatively sure that Tendou didn't sleep at all, but now he knows that that isn't quite true—Satori just sleeps very little. Despite often staying up past midnight, Satori wakes bright and early each morning to see Wakatoshi off to practice, smiling around a cup of coffee and swinging his legs where he sits on the counter chattering away. Wakatoshi himself is even quieter than usual in the mornings, even after his very solid 8+ hours of sleep. But Ushijima and Tendou are used to these little differences between them, and they know that despite them, they're a perfect match.

Haikyuu!! Headcanons (6/?)
What little actions do they unconsciously do when they're with their partner?
KageHina: Kageyama and Hinata have been subconsciously responding to each other since the first time they stood together on the court. Without thinking, Kageyama will clutch the hem of Hinata's shirt or lean their shoulders together when they stand side by side. And Hinata hangs off of Kageyama's arm when he's excited and somehow always knows when Kageyama enters the room and looks up as soon as he walks in.
BokuAka: Bokuto ruffles Akaashi's hair all the time and lightly rubs him thumb over the creases in Akaashi's forehead when he's been thinking too hard. Akaashi is drawn to Bokuto like a magnet, following his movements without thinking about it at all, reflexively leaning into every spontaneous embrace and responding to every wildly swung high-five as if Bokuto is an extension of himself and to be with him is the most natural thing in the world.
IwaOi: When you grow up together, you tend to adopt idiosyncrasies that become effortless. Thus, the light taps of palms against shoulder blades and fingertips against fingertips feel as natural as breathing. And Iwa's playful shoves, and Oikawa's childish pouts, and all of their silent conversations that take place through glances and subtle expressions all happen without thinking or making any decision together. They move as two pieces of one soul that have existed so closely for so long that there is no other way to be.
KuroKen: Kuroo rests his chin on top of Kenma's head any time Kenma stands in front of him. And Kenma's shoulders always angle towards where Kuroo is standing, like a plant turning its leaves towards the sun. And when one of them is feeling anxious, their silent signal is a rapid tap of fingers against the other's arm, and together they excuse themselves and recharge away from the clamor of wherever they are.
(Keep reading: DaiSuga, AsaNoya, KiyoYachi, UshiTen) (all headcanons here+)
DaiSuga: Suga's fingers seem to find Daichi's ticklish ribs with a mind of their own, drawing many a strange look from those around them as Daichi muffles laughs and playfully shoves his partner away. But just as often, Daichi's palm rests on the small of Suga's back or brushes across it when they pass each other, or Suga's hand squeezes Daichi's shoulder or clasps his arm—all of these subconscious and silent reminders that they're at each other's sides, no matter what.
AsaNoya: Any time Asahi is sitting and thus much shorter than usual, Noya's fingers find their way into his hair. While they eat meals or talk to their friends or rest on the bench after a particularly grueling practice, Noya's fingers deftly braid or twirl Asahi's hair while he continues to carry on conversations as if he was fully focused away from the tresses in his grasp. And Asahi leans into the touch just as absentmindedly. And without thinking, his eyes always track to where Nishinoya is in every room, following him until their eyes meet and they both smile before carrying on.
KiyoYachi: Kiyoko holds Yachi's hand as if it were an extension of her own. As they walk through crowds or stand together or sit side by side, she reaches out and tangles their fingers together and smiles softly every time that Yachi's fingers squeeze hers in response. And Yachi always seems to be touching Kiyoko too, be it leaning against her or holding gently to the sleeve of her sweater or pressing her face to Kiyoko's shoulder in embarrassment or need for comfort. They move together seamlessly through it all.
UshiTen: Tendou has been unconsciously draping himself over Ushijima for as long as they've known each other. When they stand side by side, he'll rest one forearm atop his partner's shoulder and lean his chin against it, grinning like mad. In fact, he's almost always smiling at Wakatoshi—he just can't help it—and in turn, Wakatoshi gives him a very subtle look that Tendou knows is his version of a smile. In fact, the looks Wakatoshi gives Tendou are different from those he gives anyone else. Without realizing it, his eyes are softer, his expressions less rigid. He's comfortable, and Tendou can see that in the way he moves and speaks and is when they're together.
