Au where tony stark goes missing but Edwin Jarvis Jr is having a lovely tea party in the garden with Papa Jarvis And Mummy Ana

Where in the World did Anthony Stark Go?

That was the headline that dominated news-feed for weeks. Everyone was wondering, snooping around Los Angeles and New York. 

Maria Stark sniffed and dabbed away tears with her handkerchief that cost more than most women’s wardrobes for the year, and Howard remained stoic, a man’s man through and through. 

“We will pay anything for Anthony’s safe return,” he says into a microphone. “And I will find my heir before long, mark my-” 

The television set is turned off when Edwin hears the click of the door. 

“Hello, young Sir,” he says, sweeping Tony into his arms. 

“Guess what!” he cheers. 

One of his front teeth fell out a week ago. The tooth fairy visited, leaving a one pound note underneath his pillow. He was quite proud. 

“Go on and tell him,” Ana says, smiling from the front door. Her bun has fallen a bit to one side, and Edwin thinks his wife is perhaps the most gorgeous woman he’s ever been blessed enough to see. 

“We’re gonna go for a picnic!” 

“We are?” Edwin answers back, smiling. “Where off to? The park? The museum? Simply the back patio?” 

“The park,” Tony decides. “I’m going to go put on my park shoes.” 

Edwin smiles after him. Ana drops some of her grocery bags, smiling. 

“Your son has your family’s energy.” 

Edwin laughs. 

“Yes, I suppose you’re right. Would you like me to make some sandwiches for this little picnic we’re having?” 

“I’ll prepare the biscuits.” 

Tony Jarvis is quite the ball of energy. 

The neighbors officially know that his parents have died, and his name is Edward Jarvis (after his beloved godfather and uncle), although his middle name is Anthony, and he likes “Tony” much better than all of the perfectly refined names that he’s been bestowed with. 

His favorite shoes are brand new, red and yellow monstrosities that Ana simply had to buy. 

“They were on sale!” she had told her husband after Tony spent the day “zooming” around the house and nearly taking out a vase.

The park is beautiful today. Tony races to the “perfect spot,” with the half-circle of rose bushes and a bench. He “helps” Ana smooth out the blanket, and gets directly into the carrots. 

Nothing is worrying them much in the world.

After all, Edwin Jarvis resigned a year earlier. He had no ill will towards Howard or Maria Stark, as far as anyone was concerned. 

And the last place Howard Stark (or whoever he hired) would search for Tony was jolly old England. 

Ana had known that when she had procured a skeleton key from the old memory chest, waltzed into the home without any detection. 

Tony had gone with absolutely no protest. 

After all, what child would protest going to a far better situation with people he already viewed as his real parents?

It was quarter to three o’clock in the afternoon. The sun was more than halfway across the sky, readying to set in an hour or so. The firmament was painted with bright, yet dull, colors with a few scattered clouds. The wind, although it was weak, blew cold against their skin. Nevertheless, Reese Carter and Steve Rogers seemed unbothered.

“Mummy didn’t deserve to have her heart broken twice.” Reese kept her attention at the distance, refusing to let him read her emotions through her facial expression. “Especially not when it was ultimately because of one man.”

Somehow, Steve found it amusing that, amongst the abundant life-changing news he had broken to her, all she worried about was her beloved mother. He looked over her for a moment, but she didn’t give any indication that she could feel his stare. All she did was lean on the railing on her elbows, which coincidentally was the same position Steve decided to go for in an attempt to make himself comfortable, and let out a deep sigh.

“Do you know what persuaded mum to adopt me, Captain Rogers?” Somehow, he found it quite inappropriate to reply, so he just stayed silent. Fortunately, she wasn’t waiting for a reply, either. “It was your eyes, Captain Rogers. It wasn’t even because I reminded her of herself, it was because of you.”

Something broke inside Steve. His chest tightened, as if he was trapped in a shrinking space. His heart, as tough as he had become as a result of his accumulated experiences throughout the years, shattered like fragile glass. He felt himself turn rigid and unable to function. Yet, the worse part was, he didn’t exactly know why.

He didn’t find any strength to say anything, and, as it seemed, Reese took it as an invitation to keep talking; to give him a quick overview of her life. “I was left at the door of Uncle Howard’s east coast property in a basket.“

It was late in the afternoon. Angie Martinelli just came home from an audition on another part of town. She wanted nothing more than to sleep her tiredness away. Between frequent blinks in an effort to fight sleep, a woven basket by the door caught her attention. Thinking it was a gift from some blessed souls, she mindlessly carried it in — not pondering too much on its heaviness.

It was only when Angie drank some water to clench her burning thirst that she bothered inspecting the basket. She completely expected it to hold freshly picked fruits — and almost dropped her glass out of shock when it was something entirely different.

“P-peggy! Oh, my God, Peggy!” She frantically screamed for her housemate, a hand over her racing heart. “Some heartless idiot left a babe at the door!”

Reese looked over Steve and wasn’t even mildly surprised to see him looking back at her. She held his stare for a few more seconds before tilting her head away, then proceeded on her story. “They all thought I was a Stark, until they saw my eyes.”

Upon receiving a frantic call from Peggy Carter (and the audible hyperventilating of Angie Martinelli in the background), Howard Stark arrived with his loyal butler Edwin Jarvis. They all gathered around the kitchen table where Angie had placed the basket with the still sleeping child.

“She looks nothing like me, how can you even think I’m her father?” Howard hovered over the child’s sleeping form before sitting back down to announce his observation. He hadn’t gotten any wink of sleep from the night before, due to a new invention he desperately wanted to perfect as soon as possible, but he tried to look well-rested and attentive.

“She was left outside your property, Howard,” Peggy reasoned.

Angie took her turn to look at the child. Even if she had been staring at her from the moment she saw the basket’s contents, she couldn’t seem to will herself to look away. “She could have also just inherited everything from her mother, Mr. Stark, sir. Does she look a little bit familiar to you, at least?”

Howard’s reply came rather impulsively and without the need for a much deeper thinking, “No, not at all.”

Silence followed, everyone seemed stumped with their only lead coming into a dead end. They all, almost instinctively, looked at the baby’s general direction as they tried to come up with another possible explanation for her presence.

“She quite resemble Ms. Carter from my view,” Jarvis voiced out his input, effectively catching the others’ attention as it break the silence.

“Don’t be silly,” the English agent quickly dismissed the claim, “she can’t be my daughter. I couldn’t possibly be willing to engage myself in compromising situations these past few months if I was.”

Then, just as if she could feel that she was being talked about, the seven-month-old baby fluttered her eyes open. Much to the adults’ surprise, they were greeted by a familiar, sparkling blue eyes.

“Mum adopted me when they ran out of leads that could pinpoint where I came from. She was the one who gave me my name and taught me how to punch.” Reese had a faraway look in her eyes, as if she was reminiscing the memories she was retelling. Although it was small, there was a faint smile forming at the corner of her lips. “I never really cared that I was adopted, partly because mum treated me like her own.”

She then turned to Steve, “Do you think she would’ve treated me differently if she knew? That I was created by the men who took you away from her?”

“No.” He didn’t ponder about his answer and, yet, he said it with absolute certainty. It was quite obvious that there was no ounce of regret in his words, either. “She’ll still love you, anyway.” He only knew her for less than a day, but he already knew that he wouldn’t have any hesitation if it ever comes to sacrificing his life in order for her to keep hers. “Just like I do.”

“You don’t have to,” she shook her head. He could’ve sworn there was a bitter edge in her voice. “I don’t want you to, because everyone who ever loved me either died alone or a horrific death.”

“Reese, it’s not—”

“I’m sorry HYDRA used your blood to supposedly create a merciless super-assassin, Captain Rogers. I’m sorry they created me.”

Rollisi?

Ok, first off as a disclaimer: I’m “new” to SVU in the sense that child me watched it a long time ago, then stopped watching it THEN, thanks to re-runs on tv, got into “newer” shows from season 15(?). One thing lead to another and I was watching a few new episodes from season 21.

AND I fell in love with Carisi. I’m currently doing a watch from season 16 onwards to catch up. (Just finished season 17.) One of the other disclaimers I should mention is that I tend to have a type when it comes to favorite characters on shows. I usually root for the underdog or the character that tends to get overlooked. Most times this is a male character who is a big family-oriented sweetheart with a strong moral code who likes to take care of people: BJ Hunnicutt from M*A*S*H and Edwin Jarvis from Agent Carter are two of my beloveds besides Sonny Carisi. And upon “adopting” these characters I have a hard time pairing them with any other characters UNLESS there’s a deep and trusting relationship there. That’s because I don’t want my baby to get hurt. I go all protective momma bear over them and I want only THE BEST for them.

Now that that’s out of the way, here’s what I think about Rollisi. I “get” it. If I was only tuning into season 21, it would be a different story. But having watched the mid-season finale, while I do my catch-up watching, I can spot some of the subtle hints and things. And I understand why the writers keep hinting at it.

Sonny and Rollins have a pretty trusting relationship. We get to see that especially when Sonny guesses that Rollins is pregnant with Jesse. Sonny is kind and understanding. She confides in him. He’s a non-judgmental ear, which is something she has been lacking. He’s there for her and is genuinely concerned for her whenever complications arise, etc. He makes her dinner and spends time with her and Jesse when he gets a chance to. Sonny is a giver who doesn’t expect anything in return for his kindness. And I think Rollins really values that in him.

The trouble is that Rollins has never been one to be sure of what she wants. She’s hot-headed and non-committal. That’s how she ends up with two kids from two dads and I think she’s secretly afraid that people will judge her on that. That’s why she’s afraid to tell Carisi when she’s pregnant for Billie. But Sonny doesn’t judge her. He never did, never will. And I think that kind of love (be it platonic or romantic on Sonny’s behalf) scares Rollins. She’s used to people not giving a sh*t what she does or for her decisions to be judged (especially by her own family). But Sonny cares. So when she has that outburst at him in S21 where she’s mad that he left, it’s because she’s scared to lose that unconditional “love”. Maybe her head has been pushing her away from letting herself get close to Sonny romantically, while her heart is telling her the opposite. Rollins seems to have a lot of inner conflicts that she has a hard time resolving and what exactly her relationship with Sonny IS could be another one of those conflicts. We get more of that in the therapist’s office last episode.

On Sonny’s side, let me take a quote from Peter from one of the podcasts:

“There’s a private life of Rollins & Carisi that kind of exists outside of the show […] Carisi can be a version of himself or a more open version of himself, I think, with Rollins in a way that he’s not with other people. And I think that’s a very close relationship that’s awesome to have.”

Of course Peter can’t either confirm or deny Rollisi, but I think this quote gives insight into who Sonny is. He started as the new guy trying to prove himself. Usually he’s pretty serious on the job and very passionate about his work. But we do get small glimpses into how sweet and caring he is, especially with family and by how he interacts with Rollins’ kids. We don’t get a lot of that “open version” of Carisi unless he’s in the above two scenarios, especially with Rollins. And I believe that’s the basis of a healthy relationship. You need to be able to be yourself. 

And this is where my conflicted feelings about Rollisi arise. I want the best for Sonny. I want him to have a relationship where he can be himself - like what Peter describes is the case with Rollins. But I’m not sure Rollins is ready or will ever be ready to give all of herself over to another human being in that way. She’s very guarded and I’m not sure she can open herself up to Carisi in the same way he has opened up to her. In part, I feel if Rollins decides to get together with Sonny she might see it as “settling”. A good dependable choice for herself and kids. BUT, Sonny would not see it that way. I think he does love her. He loves her kids, he admires her devotion to the job and to being a single parent. He loves her for who she is and doesn’t try to change her. So, while Sonny may be thrilled if they got together and takes on the paternal figure plus doting boyfriend instantaneously, Rollins may end up having feelings of regret. Was this the right decision for me? And I don’t want Sonny to ever be placed in a one-way relationship with ANYONE. He deserves the world and I feel extremely protective over him and his heart. I want him to have a family, but even though he looks perfectly natural with Rollins’ kids in his arms, I don’t want him to be locked into something that eventually turns loveless on Rollins’ end.

I guess we’ll see what unfolds tonight. If the writers are going to make a Rollisi move, it’s now. One of them will have to inadvertently say their true feelings in the heat of the moment/threat of losing one another. Maybe it’ll be Sonny saying something like: “I don’t know what I would have done if I’d lost you” or Amanda saying in some roundabout way that she loves him. Who knows.

Do I ship them? Maybe. But they still have a lot of growth to do if I’m going to believe it. Rollins needs to get a grip on what she truly wants and Sonny can’t let her have his heart if she doesn’t know what to do with it.

Sorry for the long post. All this has been tumbling around in my noggin’ for a while now.

EDIT - post mid-season 21 premier. Spoilers ahoy

I think this episode confirms that Sonny does indeed care deeply about Rollins. He’s ANGRY™ when he finds out she’s been kidnapped. He blames himself for it too. You can tell how conflicted he is since he’s essentially powerless to help her directly.

I think that the writers did make a Rollisi move in terms of Amanda herself. And this is what I had mentioned above: I’m not going to buy into shipping it, unless Rollins does some soul searching. When she was in that motel she spilled some pretty deep seeded fears. She grew up believing she did not deserve to be happy. That’s what she saw from her mother. She believes she doesn’t deserve nice guys. But she’s terrified that her daughters will grow up that way too and I think this is the push she needs to finally put her happiness first. And who has always been there for her, unconditionally and without judgement? Who is a nice guy? Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr. The foundation is there, they just need to build on it. Have Rollins change her attitude and views about herself and grow that self-confidence. Sonny’s the type of guy who will wait for her, however long it may take.

The big hint at Rollisi was at the end. If you don’t ship it, then the elevator scene could be interpreted as a very healthy friendship where two people trust one another and have each other’s backs. But if you put on some shipper goggles, it could definitely be considered the wind to get that ship a-sailing. Amanda holds herself together until Sonny and her are alone and he asks if she’s ok. Then she lets her guard down and says no, crying. She’s done that in the past with him too. But Sonny cradles her and says multiple times: “I got you.” And that could be the defining line in the script. Anyway, it’s some type of love, regardless if you’re wearing shipping goggles or not.

I really hope that if they are heading down the Rollisi pathway, we start to see more growth on that front. More giving from Rollins and Sonny finally being able to accept something in return. It’s a lovely friendship no matter what and I’d love to see it grow. And because it’s a friendship and I firmly believe that frienship should be the basis of any romantic relationship, I wouldn’t be necessarily opposed to Rollisi becoming more someday in the future.

actually, because i’ve gotten a lot of new mcu mutuals lately, and i need to redo my 616 tony stark care manual bc i wanna tweak it and make some aesthetic changes (because i’m just Like That), things you should probably know because i am actually 616/marvel prime/main continuity-based.  i swear i’ll be serious this time.  maybe.

the original flavor tony is not going to be the same tony you’re used to from the mcu - mcu tony is actually more marvel ultimates inspired, which is a whole kettle of fish unto itself and that i have a verse for, but we’ll get to that at a later date.  instead, meet main continuity tony.

+  he started his path to iron man in a very similar way to mcu tony, in that he was injured by his own weapons (depending on where you pull from the sliding timescale, it’s everything from landmines to micromunitions) that damaged his heart and left him slowly dying.  we all know this story, right?  he built the first iron man to escape and the rest is history.

+  the difference is, main continuity was dependent upon the armor’s chestplate for a few years. the arc reactor ain’t really a thing in 616, instead we have the rt node.  similar in function, only tony could use it to do unibeams without the suit.  anyway, when tony came back, he took on iron man as an alternate identity, and told the world iron man was his bodyguard.  no one knew for a few years there that tony stark - handsome, generous, kind-hearted benefactor of the avengers who opened his home to them - and the metal-clad adventurer known as iron man was the same person.  it took a mishap with molecule man and a tiny red silk thong (no, i’m not kidding) for that little secret to come to light.

+  he was in his very early twenties when he became iron man - much younger than his mcu counterpart, and he’s very, very good at being iron man.

+  his relationship to most of the avengers - and heroes in general - is very different.  his best friend in the entire world is steve rogers - he’s had a captain america memorabilia collection since before the avengers pulled steve out of the ice (which is another thing - the avengers thawed steve, and tony has always idolized him - there’s no resentment there - and steve was not a founding member, he came in after the avengers had already formed).  his other best friend is rhodey, who was his employee-turned-military liason for stark unlimted (formerly known by many other names).  his other other best friend is pepper potts - they’ve never actually been romantically involved.  his other other other best friend was happy hogan, who died a few years back during the nightmare of civil war - which was much more us-based and much more horrific in tony’s universe.  he’s carol danvers’ aa sponsor.  he’s good friends with reed richards.  he’s been friends with stephen strange for years.  he and bucky barnes are fairly close and tony’s the one that got rid of bucky’s trigger words.  he and natasha have dated...ish, and are close.  he was never peter parker’s mentor, as his peter is a full grown adult, but peter did intern for him for a while.  and was on an avengers team with him before civil war.  he, steve, and thor are still the big three, but they have a friendship that’s been forged in the fires of really bad mistakes and they’ve come out the other side still close.  he knows the guardians of the galaxy because he was a guardian for a while during his big vacation in space.  he’s dated more avengers and x-men than you can shake a stick at.  and jarvis for him is edwin jarvis, his living, breathing, now semi-retired butler who served the avengers for many years and is part of the avengers family.

+  he was director of shield for a short time after civil war and steve rogers’ assassination.  he hated the job and he hated steve being dead and he hated what he forced himself to do so bad he literally erased that entire year out of his head.  and to get rid of the database full of superhero secret identities stored in his brain but you can’t tell me he didn’t have a more recent backup without it.

+  his first ai was named homer.  jarvis actually was pepper’s ai, for her rescue suit, and was never tony’s.  friday is and has been his main ai for years, and she has a hologram form.  she mostly runs the day to day stuff that doesn’t require tony to physically be there for the company.  which, also, tony is still ceo, he hasn’t handed that over to anyone, and pulls double fulltime duty as both a working stiff and an avenger.  his eyebags are designer.

+  he was secretary of defense for a year - he got himself elected when he found out someone in military research was reverse engineering and stealing things from the iron man.

+  he’s in his early 40s and looks younger:  being an extremis enhancile for a while and then undergoing a full-body reboot does wonders for the skin, apparently.

+  he’s canonically bisexual.

+  is known for using himself as a lab rat for incorporating experimental technology into his biology.  ask me about the suit he carried in his bones!

+  he’s 6′1 with blue eyes.  that’s, uh.  kind of important to know.  he’s tall.  he’s lanky.  and if you’re not a metahuman he might just can kick your ass, because captain america trained him in hand to hand combat (of which he’s very proud of).

+  the ten rings are literally ten alien rings used by his main archvillain, the mandarin.  they hurt.  a lot.  and he hates when he gets an up close and personal view of them smashing into his face.

+  he’s not as quippy as his mcu counterpart, and instead is more prone to bad puns and rambling awkwardly.  canonically he has depression, anxiety, and ptsd, and struggles with them regularly.  he’s also a recovering alcoholic.

+  take mcu tony’s tech.  then put it on steroids.  then make it the craziest scifi thing you can imagine.  and you’ve got the barest hint of what this tony’s tech is like.  seriously.  ask me about the suit he literally carried inside of himself.  or the time he could control machines with his brain.  616 is wild.

+  he’s been homeless.  and i don’t mean rich people homeless. i mean living on the street, nearly froze to death riding out a blizzard in a doorway and almost lost fingers and toes to frostbite homeless.  tony’s a Rich Boy but one who’s had a taste of how the other half lives on more than one occasion.  he’s also worked a regular nine to five like everyone else and lived in what was...honestly...a really shitty apartment.

+  he’s adopted, and he has a(n adopted) brother named arno.  his bio mom’s a former rockstar, and his bio dad a hydra double agent.  you literally can’t make this shit up.

+  he’s incredibly self destructive and self sacrificing.  if things look hopeless he’ll be the first to offer himself for the pyre.  because he has absolutely horrid self esteem.

+  he’s a liar.  he’s sneaky.  he tends to make decisions for other people without consulting their feelings on the matter - partly because of a tony knows best attitude, but also because there are people in the world he’d do anything, and i mean anything, to keep safe, even if they hate him in the end.  it’s kind of awe inspiring and terrifying if you manage to inspire that level of devotion in tony, because really.  anything.

+  he has a playboy reputation, but he’s anything but.  you either get casual sex out of him?  or you’re married now, sorry, that’s just how it is.  he settles and nests with a vengeance.  he’s one of those people that would love to be happy and safe and loved and married and all that happy shit but doesn’t feel like he’s worthy of it.  his issues with this have issues, to be honest.

+  if you call him in the middle of the night and need an evac and you’re on his People list he will come.  twice in two days.  dropping everything to go to the middle of indiana to do it.  if you are sad and text him about it he will bring you food.  if you don’t answer his texts he will find you and check in on you.  if you feel out of place and adrift he will try to buy your baseball team and move them back to brooklyn to make you happy.  if you die and he can’t cope with your death he will buy your first avengers indenticard for 2mil at an auction because he can’t stand the thought of anyone else having it.  if you’re really special he’ll call you “beloved” and “captain handsome”.  sometimes sweetheart.  please note these things are all canon.

+  he dies a lot.  it’s okay, he gets better.

+  his irrational fears are the dark and cockroaches.  his actual fears are waking up drunk and the suit becoming a coffin.

anyway this is a Lot.  and it’s not even really scratching the surface so.  i’m gonna just drop this on the dash as is.  and you know it helps for me to make dumb lists like this from time to time to refresh things.  anyway, i know it’s a lot!  i know it’s different!  but my (broken) ims and disco (shellhead#8434) are always open for questions and plotting.  and my inbox, too, ig.  so you know.  remember we’ve got a canon multiverse.  it’s real easy for me to drop him in the mcu to make your day annoying.

Endgame review (mild spoilers)

1. I saw it yesturday (May 4) and so when we saw the Star Wars trailer a dude in the front yelled ‘May the fourth be with you!’ And everyone cheered.

2. There’s a bit of a time jump and we see Thor and he’s not in great shape (mentally or physically) and when we realised this the entire theatre just did a -disappointed sigh-

3. Stan lee’s cameo didn’t feel like his last cameo ever which is what the old man would have wanted lo

4. This film didn’t feel like three hours and two mintues but it was and I didn’t have to leave to pee for any reason and I’m very proud of my kegels.

5. I got to see my beloved Edwin Jarvis which pleased my soul to bits

6. Every scene with Ant Man is the best. Paul Rudd is a goddamn American treasure.

7. BLACK WIDOW DESVERED BETTER BLACK WIDOW DESVERED BETTER -bangs on table until my hands are bleeding-

8. I may or may not have screamed ‘MY SON LOOK AT MY SON!’ When I saw Tom Holland even though I’m only a few years older than him.

9. I didn’t trust multiple people telling me that there’s no after credits scene because I DO NOT TRUST MARVEL so I stayed even though there’s no after credits scene.

10. Ugly crying. Lots of ugly crying. If you’ve poured your soul (and money) into this franchise like I have you will cry and have all the feels and the entire family will be silent on the way home save for you, still crying, until your mother, trying to break the tension asks ‘which one was Chris Pratt again?’

Basic premise: Tony met Loki in Berlin, during the 1920's, the wild days of the Weimar Republic. They fell in love, lived together, until rise of Nazism made Germany unbearable, then they fled to America. Loki comes to his lover's home broken, after witnessing a terrible event that brought back memories from his early childhood. Now Tony must find a way to fix his beloved, and, hopefully, to save the children whose abduction caused his breakdown, as well.

Addendum: I feel like I've been trying to write the same story for years now. I keep making my best stab at it, and I keep falling short. I don't know what makes me think I can do it now, especially coming off of a several-month hiatus the way I am. And yet I do it... Why?
