What if after finding out that Bella is pregnant in "Breaking dawn," Edward bribes some doctor in Brazil to perform an abortion on her? So Edward drags a kicking and screaming Bella to a sketchy clinic saying that he is doing this for her own good.
(Let's assume that Bella survives the procedure and the doctor ends up performing an hysterectomy. Bella returns to Forks human. Hooray for Edward!)
What happens in the aftermath?
How are Bella, Rosalie and Esme are handling the situation? What does Carlisle think of Edward and what he did to Bella? Does Bella get turned into a vampire? What does Edward think of his own actions (any regrets)?
Caveat
Why would he?
He has Carlisle. At that point, he thought Carlisle was on board, as Carlisle thought Bella was on board and likely picturing Rosemary's Baby or The Fly. It wasn't until Bella called Rosalie and got to Forks, and it was made clear Bella wanted baby and was willing to very likely die, that Carlisle backed off and said "nope".
Carlisle's the best surgeon Edward knows, the one who can maintain control and keep the secret, and in the best position to deal with this.
Some doctor Edward doesn't know in Brazil who sees Bella's stone womb? That's not going to go well.
Edward would never do this.
Alright He Does It
I imagine it doesn't go well.
Weird shit had already happened to Bella's uterus. It was now a lead box, couldn't see inside with ultrasound. I'm not sure the doctor will be able to get anything out of that womb using traditional methods. It didn't seem like it given the vampire teeth c-section birth we had to resort to in canon.
What happens is Bella finds herself in a hospital with a mysterious infectious disease and Edward has to smuggle her back out before the secret is entirely broken.
Bella then gets to know that her husband absolutely would do this but that doesn't actaully change anything as Bella firmly believed she had to prevent Edward and Rosalie was guarding her at pretty much all times.
So…
The rest of Breaking Dawn happens including Edward still planning that abortion. That, or something went very wrong in the attempt, and Bella didn't come out of it unscathed likely leading to her death then or er later.

Wait! Bella and Edward have a kid together????? I am so sorry I did not know this whatsoever. My knowledge of Twilight is you talking about it and this one Harry Potter/Twilight crossover fic that I read 4 years ago.
Anyway, why can’t vampire’s bodies change? Is it like how they can’t have tattoos due to their skin being very tough?
Also, if Bella was changed into a vampire midway through her pregnancy, how does she manage to actually have the kid?
.⚙️
Yep! It's a pretty significant part of the story, as in it is like the entirety of book 4. So almost 25% of the series is dedicated to Bella's getting pregnant and the aforementioned problems this new kid raises in the vampire world. And it's generally well known for the Jacob imprinting on Renesmee thing (which is a whole other situation/drama)
Her name is Renesmee Carlie Cullen, and she is the biological human-vampire daughter of Edward and Bella. Renesmee is a mix of the names Renee (Bella's mom) and Esme (Edward's adoptive vampire mom), and Carlie is a mix of Charlie (Bella's dad) and Carlisle (Edward's adoptive vampire dad). She hasn't reached physical maturity by the time the series ends, she's still a kid--but she's like, idk, the equivalent of a five year old perhaps? if said five year old was smarter than the most learned human alive
To get back to your questions: in the twilight universe, the way vampires work is that when you're turned, every cell and fiber of your being is frozen as is, in that state. It heals all blemishes like whatever injury/illness might've killed you if that was the situation (among other things like destroying melanin making all vampires pale...), but vampires do not age or develop past that. This includes physically, mentally, and emotionally. If you were turned at 14, you're physically, mentally, and emotionally 14 forever (that's why the immortal children I mentioned are a problem). Their bodies don't change. They don't age, their hair and fingernails don't grow, they can't grow or lose muscle or weight, there's nothing active or circulating in their system--their hearts don't beat, they don't need to breath, they don't have a life cycle, etc. There bodies stop changing and are stuck indefinitely at the time of turning. Which means vampires can't get pregnant or accommodate a growing, changing baby and body
As for Bella, she was changed at the end of her pregnancy, immediately after the baby was removed/born. The entire pregnancy happened with her still human. I could've been clearer about that. She was pregnant, and then the baby (half-vampire and therefore supernaturally strong and dangerous inside her frail human body) accidentally broke a bunch of bones and her spine a few days before their scheduled c-section, so an emergency one was performed. Baby Renesmee was removed, having gestated entirely in a human body, and Bella--no longer pregnant, but very much so dying--was injected with venom and bitten to transform her and save her life.
I hope that helps clear it up! But I may have also said things that raise more questions, so if so, feel free to ask!

You felt refreshed as you and Jacob made it back to your house. You were ready to help Bella in any way you needed, careful not to push too hard. Bella was holding a cup of blood when you and Jake walked in.
“Bella,” Rosalie started. “Why don’t you tell Jacob and (Y/N) what you’ve decided.”
You and Jake looked at each other and then back at your family confused.
“Rose is trying to talk Bella out of her baby names,” Edward said, amused at the whole situation.
“Well, if it’s a boy. I was thinking of EJ for Edward Jacob.”
“Damn, that was gonna be mine one day. Oh well, you’re the one having a baby first.” You shrugged not thinking much of it.
Edward looked shocked and happy, “You were gonna name your kid after me?”
“Well not anymore, we’ll name him after Jasper now.” You laughed watching the smile on Ed’s face drop.
“Okay, EJ’s not so bad,” Rose conceded. “Why don’t you tell them the girl’s name.”
“I was toying around with our moms’ names, Renee and Esme, so… Renesmee.”
“Renesmee…” Jacob repeated slowly.
“Too weird?” Bella looked at the two of you. You couldn’t say anything, it was certainly different.
“No, it’s beautiful and unique. I like it.” Edward swooped in and saved you.
Bella smiled knowing Edward liked the name and picked up the cup of blood behind her. She took one small sip before the cup accidentally fell out of her hand and landed on the floor, bright red staining the carpet. Bella started to bend down and pick it up when her back cracked.
You went wide-eyed in panic but still made your way to her as she fell to her knees. You could hear the cracking as you took away her pain. Alice called for Carlisle as Edward scooped up Bella. You struggled to keep up with your brother’s fast pace as you tried to keep a hand on Bella at all times.
This was possibly the worst timing ever with Carlisle still on duty at the hospital. Alice came into his office with the phone still in her hand.
“Carlisle says the placenta must have detached. He’s trying to come as fast as he can.”
“There’s no time, we’re gonna have to do it.” Rose reached for the scalpel to give Bella a C-Section.
“Get him out now!” Bella yelled.
You were doing your best to dull everything but the baby was stronger than you thought. Rosalie started the C-Section but was quickly overwhelmed by the scent of blood. Alice rushed her out the room leaving you, Edward, and Jacob to help Bella.
“You’ve got to change her,” Jacob told Edward.
“It’s still in there, I’ve gotta get him out first.”
Edward went into panic mode, the scalpel wasn’t strong enough to get through the placenta. He resorted to using his teeth. Bella screamed briefly before everything in her went numb, you were using all the strength you could to keep her senses down.
“Focus on keeping your heart beating, Bella.” Jake was holding onto her arms.
Edward finally got the baby out. “It’s Renesmee.”
“Bella?”
Jacob noticed her body stop moving. He tried to perform CPR but it wasn’t doing anything. Edward handed Jacob the baby as he pulled out multiple needles. He stuck the first big one in Bella’s heart.
“What’s that?” Jacob asked as he tried to shush a crying Renesmee.
“My venom,” Edward answered.
He took the rest of the needles and began sticking Bella all over with them. He waited a beat but nothing happened. Edward started pressing on Bella’s heart trying to reactivate it. He started to bite Bella but still nothing.
You felt weak. You looked across Bella’s body to see the blurry image of your brother biting her. A second later you slumped to the floor.
“(Y/N)!” Jacob screamed, alerting Rosalie who came back into the room.
Rosalie took the baby from Jacob and he raced to pick you up from the floor. The pack could hear Jacob’s thoughts from miles away and were already at Billy’s house by the time he got there with you. They cleared off the couch for him to set you down on.
“What the hell happened?!” Paul asked angry, you had really grown to be a sister to him and anything that got you hurt got him pissed.
“Bella, she tried to help…” Jacob’s words came out in fragments but the pack could read his thoughts easily and get a full picture.
“She’s shivering like crazy.” Quil pointed out.
“Convulsions.” Jacob sat down and brought your body closer to his trying to keep you warm and as still as possible. Seth ran into Jacob’s room for some blankets.
“Why would she be convulsing?”
“When it comes to pain, I don’t think (Y/N) knows how to dull it. I think she absorbs it.”
“… and she just took all of Bella’s…” Leah put two and two together.
The wolves could hear your heartbeat, one a vampire shouldn’t even have, working triple duty to keep blood pumping through you. Jacob got the theory after watching the change you had after you drank some of his blood. Whatever you did to absorb pain ate away at the vampire side of your energy until only the human side created by the imprint was left. And it didn’t matter how supernatural you were, the human side could only take so much and you needed human blood to replenish and keep it going.
Carlisle and the others raced into Billy’s house without much thought. Carlisle was almost distraught at the sight of his youngest. The pack instantly cleared a path for him to rush over to you. Carlisle bent down and brushed your hair away from your face. He didn’t want to acknowledge the heartbeat of yours that he could hear pumping overtime.
“Can you do anything for her?” Jacob asked.
“We just have to keep her alive until the pain subsides.”
“That pain killed Bella, what is it going to do to (Y/N)?”
“Bella’s alive, you can hear her heartbeat. It’s faint but it’s there.”
“What?”
“(Y/N) took it away. Dulled her senses so much it’s as if we pumped a gallon of morphine in her system. She should wake up fully after Edward’s venom turns her.”
Carlisle moved out of the way just quick enough to avoid you throwing up on him instead of the floor. It was all blood. Jacob grew worried, thinking about last time. He rubbed your back before you laid back down on him. He pulled up the blanket Seth brought out higher to cover you.
“Sorry, Mr. Black. I’ll clean that up,” you said feebly.
“Don’t even think about it,” Billy said.
Esme turned to him. “I think it’s best if she stays here with Jacob until she’s okay.”
“I agree.”
Each of the Cullens gave you a kiss on the forehead and a promise to come back tomorrow after dealing with Bella’s new vampire situation and every day after that until you got better. You shifted a bit more in Jacob’s arms. He was just grateful the shivering and shaking had stopped, it was a small sign you were recovering.
“You think she needs to… you know…” Embry made a biting motion.
“She wouldn’t do it again even if I begged her. She’ll choose to push through this on her own.” Jacob looked down at you.
“She’s strong, Jacob. A hell of a lot stronger than she seems. She’ll pull through.” Sam patted Jake on the shoulder.

i feel like oprah. you get a chapter! and you get a chapter! and you get a chapter!

WE HAD REMAINED STILL AS statues for only a moment before rushing into action.
The plan we had made with Carlisle — Bella, Rosalie and I — would now have to exclude him. Between the two of us, we had three medical degrees, but neither had specialised in childbirth. Carlisle, thank God, had some knowledge and also many books on the topic, which we had all read through, gaining any and all information we could. We had all decided it would be much safer for Bella and the baby if Carlisle performed a c-section, and that was what we had prepared for. The birth we had planned for in a few days was to take place now, and without the surgeon we had counted on to perform it.
Rosalie, having caught Bella after her fall, gathered her up into her arms and together we ran up the stairs to the library turned operating theatre. I felt a stab of horror at each broken bone our baby caused in his panic to escape, the cracks echoing in my ears. I could hear the pain and fear in his mind as he lost the ability to breathe. He was trying to fight his way out, the way his instincts were telling him to, but in the process, he was killing Bella. The two beings I loved the most were battling with each other for life.
On our way up, Rosalie took control and called down instructions to Alice. There was an earpiece that could be used so we would have our hands and still talk to Carlisle, and Alice went in search of it. Jasper also had to get away — he had left the moment Bella started vomiting the blood.
“Morphine!” I yelled at Rosalie as she lay Bella down on the hospital bed in the middle of the room.
“Alice — get Carlisle on the phone!” Rosalie screamed, ignoring me altogether.
I gathered up the syringe myself, already full of the morphine, and pressed it quickly into a vein in Bella’s arm. Her skin was almost transparent in the glare of the electric lights, and it was easy to find. Rosalie was ripping the clothes covering Bella’s body, clearing the way for us.
“What’s happening, Edward?” someone asked me, and I was far too focused on my task to figure out who.
“He’s suffocating!” I snapped, gathering up any and all supplies we could possibly need. The thoughts of our child were making me panic, his inability to breathe the loudest in the room.
“The placenta must have detached!” Rosalie realised in horror, her eyes wide. We both knew what that meant, and what must be done.
“Get him OUT!” Bella screeched, having finally come back around. “He can’t BREATHE! Do it NOW!”
The force of her voice, the effort she put into it, burst several vessels in her eyes and I sucked in a breath at the sight of the red spots spreading there.
“The morphine—” I growled, unable to control my tone in my panic. My wife and baby were both dying in front of me. It hadn’t been long enough for the medicine to spread, Bella would be in even more agony if we started to get him out.
“NO! NOW—!” Bella screamed, before blood in her throat cut her off again and she began to choke.
Unable to do anything else, I rushed behind her to hold up her head, my hands splayed around the back of her skull. If I could get her mouth clear, then she at least could breathe. The blood continued to bubble up her throat, erupting from her mouth.
Alice returned then, and clipped the earpiece under Rosalie’s hair before backing away again. Although she had fed recently, she didn’t trust her control enough to play an active part in this. How I wished she could see the baby! Or could see Bella, despite him. If we had some idea of the future, of how our idea would play out, things would be much simpler.
Carlisle’s calm voice came through the phone, and Rosalie hissed at him all that had happened. Her words were frantic, panicked, and he was trying to calm her, but even without the benefit of his thoughts, I could tell he too was worried. We knew this would be dangerous, even with the plan we had put in place. What had meant to be calm and relatively straight forward was now an emergency. Bella’s skin was covered in bruises, more black and blue than anything else, and the bump was slowly being covered in crimson blood from the inside. In places, I could make out a tiny hand- or footprint.
Rosalie began to move, a scalpel in her hand.
“Let the morphine spread!” I begged her, unable to think straight.
“There’s no time,” she replied. “He’s dying!”
The scent of yet more fresh blood hit me. This time, it was not the strangers from the bags we had been giving Bella, but the same floral I had become so accustomed to. The one that had tempted me so through our initial time together. The one I had lost the interest in drinking once I had faced a world in which I thought Bella dead.
And one that was still unbelievable tempting to vampires.
“No, Rose!” I roared, immediately catching the turn in her thoughts, the swift loss of any humanity in her eyes. She was a predator who needed to hunt, and fresh blood was still pouring from Bella’s stomach where she had made the incision. Had I been able, had I not been holding Bella’s head up to keep her from choking on the blood her stomach was still retching up, I would have been the one to tackle her myself, to take her away from the temptation.
Before I even had a chance to issue an instruction, Jacob — who I hadn’t even noticed was in the room with us — had leaped over the table at my sister. A low growl wanted to leave my lips; Rosalie and I didn’t often have the closest of relationships, but I would protect her from the wolves in a heartbeat. I held it in, knowing that it was for the best, especially once Alice had grabbed Rosalie and began to drag her from the room. Our connection to Carlisle was lost when the earpiece had been crushed, and I wanted to let out a hiss of frustration.
I’m sorry, Edward! Help the baby!
“Alice, get her out of here! Take her to Jasper and keep her there!” I ordered, finally getting a grip on myself. If Rose was going to lose it, it would be best not to have her here at all. I didn’t need even more to worry about. Now I was aware of him again, the wolf could make himself useful. “Jacob, I need you!”
Below me, Bella was starting to turn blue, her inability to breathe now matching our child.
“CPR?” I growled at him, praying to any god that would listen for deliverance from this.
“Yes!” he replied, and I could have kissed him with relief.
I could see him analysing me, wondering if I would react anything like Rosalie. I wanted to give him the whole sordid tale, the reason I would never be capable of hurting my wife like that, not now, but I had more important matters to contend with.
“Get her breathing!” I barked. “I have to get him out before—”
An earth-shattering crack interrupted me. For a moment, I was bewildered. What in the name of all that was holy could that have been? My eyes shot to Bella’s face, waiting for her to react in some way that would indicate it had been to do with her. In the split second that I did, I realised something.
Her legs had gone limp.
“Her spine,” I said, choking on air as the horrific truth punched me in the gut.
“Get it out of her!” Jacob snarled, throwing a scalpel at me. It was the one Rosalie had been using, the one she had stabbed in his arm. “She won’t feel anything now!”
I steeled myself, realising what I must do.
Don’t worry, loves, I thought to them both as I placed the scalpel to line up with the cut that had already been started. I can do this. I love you.
I pressed the blade down, and more blood rained from Bella’s body. Her heart gave a faint protest, but it still beat on. I dragged the blade along her skin, feeling the resistance we had encountered weeks ago. The same that could not be entered by needle or ultrasound. A skin as hard as that of any vampire, immune to any human blade.
But not immune to me.
Tossing the scalpel aside, I sent a silent apology to Bella, and bent my head over her stomach, pushing aside the skin I had just cut. Under my mouth, beneath the hands I had braced against either side of the bump, my son sent out terrified thoughts as he continued to be unable to breathe. I made a swift job of biting through the membrane, pulling my head back up in order to get a good view. It would do no good to injure him in trying to get him out.
Reaching inside, I found the tiny body of the baby Bella had fought so hard for. Almost as if he was reaching for me too, he latched onto one of my hands as I drew him from the dark, warm place that had been his home for these few weeks. Drawing him up into my arms, I realised our mistake. This was not the little boy Bella had described to me — this was the girl she hadn’t really believed could be possible.
“Renesmee,” I whispered, running a finger over her perfect cheek. She had hair already, plastered against her skull, but even with the blood and other fluids, I could see my own red tones there. When she opened her mouth to draw breath, I saw a set of teeth already in her mouth — the thing she would have used to escape her mother, had I not done it for her. She was beautiful, inhumanly so, and my heart was already filled with love for her.
Her eyes fluttered open, and I saw Bella’s deep brown replicated in perfect miniature.
“Let me…” I heard a voice croak, and I smiled. Bella had woken again. “Give her to me.”
I walked to Jacob’s side, as close as I could get to Bella without going all the way around the bed again. Resting the baby on Bella’s chest, I began to make note of the damage in the back of my mind, preparing to begin the change, while most of my mind focused on watching my wife with our daughter.
“Renes… mee. So… beautiful.”
Before I could watch anymore, I saw our child rush to the blood she had craved so much while still in her mother’s womb. I couldn’t stop her before she had bitten Bella, and I pulled her swiftly back up into my arms.
“No, Renesmee,” I told her, and she gave me a tiny pout that made her look like she understood. Perhaps she did. Maybe her mind was as advanced as her growth, or even more so.
Even with so much of my attention focused on the impossible being in my arms, my ears were always tuned to the thump of Bella’s heart. It had beat faithfully, if a little unevenly at times, since the first day we had met. It was the most significant sound in my world.
It fell silent.
My eyes snapped to Bella’s still form, and Jacob’s body now standing over her, performing chest compressions. Renesmee seemed to sense the tenseness in my body, and she looked between me and her mother for a moment, judging how it was she should react.
“What are you waiting for?” Jacob demanded, continuing to pump her heart.
“Take the baby,” I told him, knowing exactly what must be done now. This was the part I had planned for with Carlisle — but I needed my hands free.
“Throw it out the window,” he growled, and I nearly reciprocated.
“Give her to me,” Rosalie murmured from the doorway.
For a moment, I clutched Renesmee to my chest, knowing that her tiny heart still did beat out its light flutter, and that she was covered in fresh blood. Only minutes before, Rosalie had almost fallen into a frenzy. A low snarl left my chest, warning her off from taking my baby from me, my daughter.
“I’ve got it under control,” she continued, her voice steady and her mind clear. “Give me the baby, Edward. I’ll take care of her until Bella is more stable.”
A nanosecond was all I needed, before I carefully handed Renesmee over to her aunt. With my daughter out of my arms, I let myself sink back in my mind, let rationality take over. First, I needed the syringe.
Yanking open a draw, I pulled out the steel thing I had used to store some venom, ready for this moment. It hadn’t been pleasant to prepare it, but I was glad of it now.
“Move your hands, Jacob,” I commanded, ready to inject the thing into the most important part of Bella’s body for the transformation.
He looked at me, dumbfounded. “What’s that?”
I hadn’t the time to answer his question before acting — Bella’s heart was already too weak as it was. I knocked his hands out of the way, barely noticing the snap as some of his fingers broke against my hand. Lining up the needle, I stabbed it into Bella’s chest.
“My venom,” I explained, pushing the plunger down, forcing the thick liquid into the dying organ.
Beneath my hand and the needle, I felt her heart jolt. Her chest rose off the table a little, like she had been shocked in a hospital.
“Keep it moving,” I instructed him, knowing my next step.
I moved to her throat, pushing her lank hair out of the way as I first kissed the skin there, then bit down, and ran my tongue over the wound. Sealing in the venom would keep her heart from beating it right back out again, and I knew I had to get as much into her system as possible, especially at a moment like this. I couldn’t let my panic and dread distract me now, not when this was so very vital.
Moving from her throat, to her wrists, the crease at the inside of her elbow, I repeated the same motions. Kiss, bite, seal. I made my way around her body, forcing in more and more venom, praying this could make the process quicker. Or, at that moment, praying it would work at all.
Jacob’s thoughts had changed. His desperate need to keep Bella alive, one I held as well, had died away. His hopeless mind was annoying me — if he would not, or could not help, then what good was he? Once I had heard his connection was lost, gone out of the room, I couldn’t help but push him out of the way. I was done with my previous task anyway.
“Go then,” I snapped at him, taking his place and keeping Bella’s heart beating for her until the venom began to take effect. His compressions had slowed, and I picked up the pace again, watching her face for any sign of life returning.
He’s pushing her head heart faster than I did.
“She’s not dead,” I growled, responding to his mistaken thought. “She’s going to be fine.”
She couldn’t not be. Esme had fallen from a cliff and been saved. Rosalie had carried Emmett over a hundred miles to get him help and he was fine. I had been about to take my last breaths and was here. But Bella may have already breathed her last, a traitorous voice in my mind sang. Not if I can help it, I replied.
“She’s fine,” I growled again, half to myself, and half to the world at large. I locked my eyes on Bella’s face, my hands cracking even more ribs than our daughter had. The venom would soon heal them, and she would be fine. Alive, healthy, happy. She had planned it all out so well. I just had to help her achieve that vision. From the start, Alice had seen her as one of us. I would make it happen. I could do it.
“Can you hear me, love?” I asked her, climbing up atop the table, over her the way I had seen in too many emergency departments. My knees bracketed her broken spine, the bump that no longer held our precious child. My hands continued to pump her heart for her. “You’ll be just fine. You just have to help me here. Keep breathing, Bella, do you understand? Come back to me. We need you.” Let out a sound of frustration, half strangled in my throat from emotion. “I need you. Come back to me.”
Downstairs, Rosalie was cleaning up our child. Through her eyes, I watched the process for a second, before returning to my own mind. For lack of anything better to say, and to keep myself from breaking down altogether, I chattered on about the baby I had held for all of two minutes, the beautiful creature that was ours. I described her face, her hair, her heart. The warmth, the heat, of her, which I had initially assumed to being from her mother, but now I realised was just a part of her nature. I told her of the tiny smile that played on her lips as Rosalie washed away of the evidence of her birth, and wrapped her up in a blanket. A few times I caught my own face in Renesmee’s mind, or Bella’s. She was wanting us. Yet more reason for Bella to live, to know that our child needed her mother.
I had no clue how long I knelt up over my wife, my hands interlocked over her heart, when finally I felt something beneath the heels of my palms.
“Yes, that’s right,” I breathed, forcing the venom through her system for her, as her heart grew ever stronger. “C’mon, Bella, you can do this. I love you.”
Under my fingers, her heart picked up pace. It was still weak, but it was there, and the smile that stretched across my face was probably better suited to a mad man. Perhaps I was — a mad man working against the impossible. But we were impossible, Bella and I. From our love, to our marriage, to our child, we were impossible. If there was anyone in the world, in all of time, who could do this, it was us.
Beneath me, her heart grew stronger, faster, and I could almost weep for relief. I lifted my hands away for a moment, before I slipped off the table, and took up her hand. Even without my assistance, her heart continued on, pushing my venom through her body. As it went, it would fix bruise and bone. I needn’t worry now — the hard part was over. Now all I need do was wait.
Wait for her to change, wait for her to wake.
Wait for our forever to begin.

"is it feminist to die in childbirth" - in breaking dawn, bella decides to keep her dangerous vampire fetus against the advice of everyone she loves, because she's so noble and pure and good, even though giving birth will kill her and she knows this. she dies in childbirth. it's a particularly graphic scene. we're offered details such as her spine breaking mid-birth. edward performs an emergency c-section by chewing through her abdomen with his teeth. through some venom magic she's brought back as a vampire
"is it feminist to perpetuate anti native rhetoric for romance" - i couldn't begin to list all of the anti-native things that are said and done in the twilight series. one scene that sticks out in particular is the one where the cullens (the protagonist family, the ones we're supposed to be rooting for!) feed jacob (the native werewolf) food from a dog bowl. the main characters consistently refer to jacob as a dog/animal, and comment on how he smells poorly. jacob lives on a reservation with the rest of his tribe. it's integral to the plot that he's native american. as the series goes on, he becomes increasingly aggressive toward bella.
"is it feminist for a man who romantically imprint on an infant" - finally, in breaking dawn, when he meets bella's baby for the first time, he "imprints" on her. "imprinting" is when a werewolf's biology chooses the werewolf's future mate. it's discussed in previous books that imprinting can have a huge age gap and, while the imprinter generally waits for the imprintee to be of age, it's still.... well, a lot to unpack, to say the least. it's a child bride situation
now, this is not The Character Jacob's fault. his author did not do her research and did not do right by him, and by extension all the real life native americans living on the REAL LIFE reservation she wrote about. stephanie meyer is 100% at fault and she's racist for projecting these qualities onto her native character
where feminism comes into this post is that there's been a recent "renaissance" of twilight fans, getting back into the series and saying "actually this series was good! the only reason people ridiculed it was because girls liked it! #feminism" which is just... first of all not true, and second of all extremely fucking stupid and makes me question if they've actually read the books. nothing about twilight is hashtag girl power
people who like twilight are like "is it feminist to die in childbirth?" and don't wait for an answer

for whatever reason, bella is immortal. no powers, no special ability (besides her mental shield). she can't die and can't be turned into a vampire either. how does twilight unfolds?
Well, it means I expect Sean Connery to show up any minute now and tell Bella about the quickening and that "there can be only one". Alas, though, he got his head lopped off in the 1980's. So she's going to have to find herself a magic Scotsman instead.
But that's beside the point.
Well, for a long time, Bella may very well not notice. Just as Bella never noticed her psychic abilities she won't notice her immortality until she presumably kicks the bucket--if even then.
Bella has a near fatal accident that actually was fatal? She much have gotten lucky, somehow, and it's a miracle she's still alive.
So she very well could be completely oblivious by the time she reaches Forks.
The Canon Path
Now, Bella may very well follow the path that's mostly canon.
Edward perseveres and chooses time and again not to eat Bella Swan. Good for him. As a result he never gets to witness her miraculous survival.
Bella's nearly hit by a van but survives thanks to Edward. She would have survived without him, but they don't know that.
Bella's saved in Port Angeles thanks to Edward, she never confronts what might have happened next.
James attacks her, but Edward sucks out the venom. This could have very well killed or transformed her but Bella somehow survived, either because he did stop in time or because she's immortal. The world will never know.
Bella is thrown into a glass table at her birthday party, she gets stitches from Carlisle immediately and does not bleed out. Bella throws herself off a cliff, Jake presumably saves her before drowning, though really it's that she can't drown.
Bella gets to leave Volterra unbitten and still alive, so they don't find out there, etc.
Bella may have died a number of times throughout the series but there's also always an explanation for her survival. No one, least of all Bella, stops to suspect that she may be immortal.
No, clearly, where this comes into play, is Renesmee.
Bella survives sex with Edward because she's immortal. They both think it's because he has great control. Her body is then turned into a hybrid incubator, I posit this still happens as this never killed Bella in canon. Oh, she was on the fast track to death, certainly, but she was able to survive the pregnancy up until the very end.
Well, then the birth happens. Bella's spine is snapped, Edward performs a C-section with his teeth, and he jabs a venom syringe into her failing heart.
Except... the heart doesn't stop.
Bella doesn't die.
Unfortunately for Bella, her spine has been snapped like a twig, her digestive system is completely out of whack/non-functional, and she has lost a shit ton of weight. Her body's on the verge of dying it just... refuses to give out.
If she's lucky, the venom can fix much of this without going the full vampire way (in which case Bella ends up a god even knows what creature who probably still drinks blood but has a human heartbeat).
If she's not--then she's stuck like this.
The AU Path
At some point in the series, something goes wrong. Edward eats Bella in the meadow, Bella gets hit by the van, James actually eats Bella, etc.
Bella has some encounter where it's very clear that she was not supposed to survive that.
She does.
Edward's not sure how to feel. On the one hand, his beloved Bella appears like she's going to be human forever, on the other hand she's not really human, is she? This causes him significant angst.
Bella, too, has angst.
She can never be with Edward, not really. She'll be human forever, may even still age, she will always be weak, and slow, and ugly, and forever Bella. Vampirism was her way out, her escapist fantasy to a better existence, and now it's gone.
I imagine she and Edward break up and Bella, while devastated, agrees with him because there's no future for her with him.
Bella probably tries to kill herself at some point afterwards as she did in canon. Of course, this doesn't work, and Bella proceeds to lead a meaningless and lonely existence where she despises herself.
In time, she may head to Volterra to try to ask for help/how to either make her a vampire or a normal human who can die like normal human people.

Note
What would have happened if Bella HAD succeeded in stabbing herself? I’m guessing she gets eaten
I mean, given the circumstances, yes.
Edward may be able to hold out, he's been in this situation numerous times before by this point (after James' attack and the birthday party). In only a few weeks time, Edward will be able to perform a C-section on Bella with his teeth.
My money's on Riley.
