WIP Intro: The Masks We Hide Behind
Tumblr media
[Image description: a headshot of a grey wolf baring its fangs on a dark green and black background. Above the wolf’s head are the words “The Masks We Hide Behind” in white letters, and at the bottom of the image are the words “a WIP by Cloverponyz”. End id].
Overview ->
Genre: paranormal/supernatural, romance, young adult, LGBTQ+, mystery elements
Themes: identity, acceptance, what makes a monster, different kinds of love, hunter vs. hunted, knowledge vs. ignorance, truth and lies, different kinds of strength, history repeating itself
Expected length: 75k-90k
Expected content warnings: prejudice, discrimination, eugenics, homophobia and biphobia, internalized homophobia and biphobia, antisemitism, K slur, references to Nazism and the Holocaust, racism, mental health problems, panic/anxiety attacks, murder, child death, violence, violence against minors, near-death experiences, broken bones, vaping, alcohol, underage drinking, references to drug use and underage sex
Summary ->
Jay’s parents are dead.
For the last 5 years he’s travelled the States with his eccentric-but-loving aunt, never staying in one place long enough to make real friends or feel at home. He’s used to it, so when he and Aunt Lydia move to the small Texas city of Verstinas, he refuses to get his hopes up. But there’s something strange about Verstinas and its occupants, something dangerous. He’s convinced his new classmates are hiding something, something with sharp teeth and glowing eyes, something that howls in the night.
As Jay struggles to balance new friendships and family secrets, his identity is shaken to the core in more ways than one. A truth revealed, his life irrevocably altered and his heart and head pulling him in different directions, Jay must make a choice:
Leave Verstinas and its deadly secrets,
Or face them and face his past.
He isn’t sure which is more terrifying.
Characters ->
Jason "Jay" Cohen-Hunter: the new kid in school, he’s reserved and observant. Something’s up in Verstinas, and he’s determined to find out what.
Monroe Wolfhardt: the boy from first period, Monroe and Jay become fast friends, but there’s something suspicious about the way he dodges Jay’s questions.
Roxie Rosenbaum: the girl from lunch, a quick-thinker with a knack for solving problems, why won’t she help Jay solve his?
Lydia Cohen: Jay’s aunt, a woman constantly on the move with many strange scars, who seems to know more than she’s letting on.
The Masks We Hide Behind is my Camp NaNo July project! It’s one of my absolute favourite WIPs and I’m very excited to return to it after I started the first draft for NaNo 2019. The goal is to do the bulk of TMWHB in July and finish it before NaNo 2020. Its sequel, The Lies We Tell Ourselves, is a direct continuation of TMWHB and will probably be completed sometime in 2021.

hi i am that anon from like 29th Dec (last dang year) who said i read ur tsuki no hime and loved it and that u understand Aizou. i have read more of ur stuff since then and now i NEED to ask you for writing advice, on both characterization and general writing tips since I didnt mention it before. Sorry about that! i just forgot i sent an ask and i do not get notifs at all (or does anon asks not get notifs?) Also, ART STUDENT! That's why the nice art and art leaning!! I feel smart for sensing it
oh yup, tumblr doesn't send notifs for anon asks! but i'm glad you did see the answer anyway
this post is hideously long, so answer under the cut!
so, on characterization: it is mostly a matter of what would they say, rather than what you want them to say. the joke about "the characters do what they want to" instead of what the writer wants is pretty much true if you want them to be in character lol (that's why sometimes a little bit of OoC isn't too bad)
checking the source material is the most important thing: look at prior similar interactions the characters have had and how they reacted
this is kind of hard with LIPxLIP, as there aren't that many translated texts about them but with honeyworks the most canon and reliable thing to use as reference are the mvs. the mvs are drawn in a way that can pretty much be understood even if you don't have the lyrics, and sometimes it's even better if you can't read them, to properly focus on the images better
look at their expressions closely: while aizou is always explosive in his anger, yuujirou often has a more indifferent expression. so, when they fight, aizou is probably the one to blow up first while yuujirou maintains his composure better. it's kind of the classic "this was only a brief passing panel but i am going to expand on it" www
but the thing about fanfiction is that it's always a bit of a character analysis in itself. you don't start writing having already a color-coded folder of possible situations and reactions a character would have for each setting. you just throw the characters in a scenario and then think from there onwards, and eventually you'll be able to have the folder of situations and what you think their reactions would be like. (though, this links back to the prior point, if the characters have gone through a similar situation in canon, use that as guide! plus, finding little references to canon when reading is always fun)
for general writing, i'm going to mostly talk about my own experiences and process! i'm in no way a professional though
the basic is reading a lot. not just books but also fanfic. in fact, since you're writing fanfic, i Encourage you to read fanfic. even if your story ends up novel length, the way of treating the story is different from that of an actual novel. for example, because you're working under the premise that everyone knows the characters already. the general style of fics is different as well.
in fact, the style is the main reason i'm saying this slfkslfkslkf
read a lot of stuff and find a style you like. think of it as sewing together pieces from here and there to make a frankenstein amalgamation: this person's metaphors, the comparisons from here, the descriptions from there
personally, i adore the "long one-shot with a long title formatted (like this)" fics that are mostly feelings and descriptions and as little dialogue as possible, and some that occasionally play with the "show don't tell" rule, and some months ago i read a book whose descriptions amazed me because you could feel what the character was focusing on the most, rather than being general descriptions of the situation (i actually have a lot of thoughts about descriptions but that's a post for another day). but also i really like dialogue and plot-driven stories, descriptions can get boring and before trying to break rules, you have to be really good at following them
but, let's go step by step: developing an idea
for this i'm going to mostly reference the multichap i finished a while ago as an example
i started with just a few vague concepts in mind: non-idol au with aizou who does some sport and likes music but is insecure about his singing and yuujirou who does some music related thing and encourages him to sing in a way that's somehow related to the hozier song to noisemaking (sing), because it's what inspired me to write in the first place
then, from then onwards i wrote down what would happen in the first chapter of the story bullet-point-list-style, including things like the roommates part or the clubs the boys were in (at first yuujirou was in the choir club lol the change was a last second decision that idk why i took) and then bits of dialogue here and there that would be The Turning Points. those first dialogues were for the fight at the end of ch 1, the apology-date in ch 3 and then some vaguely unused ones for the "yuujirou encourages aizou" part, as those were the first key moments i thought of
because, since it's enemies to friends to lovers, an important aspect was character development
not all fics have character development bc not all of them are long enough (if you're aiming for short and sweet then there's no need). but if they do, i recommend you write down how the character was at the beginning of the story and then how they were at the end and then fill in the middle later, think of what those key turning points that made the character change were (the more little things you add, the more gradual it'll be)
samishigariya illustrates this very nicely: the song starts and finishes with the same lines, but the ending ones feel more light-hearted. the beginning has pre-arisa ken and pre-getting-along-with-yuujirou aizou, when they were the lonely people the title mentioned, and the ending, when they're not lonely anymore. the in between can be seen in depth during the other songs: ken before arisa was a playboy who didn't take love seriously, but after meeting her he realized that games were not all there was to love; and aizou used to be quite cranky and high-key a loner, but then he "meets precious things and knows of love". i will not elaborate on that because this isn't an aiyuu post but Oh You Know
for the fic, aizou would go through that same process, more or less: someone who doesn't really form meaningful connections with people but who, in the end, would end up having quite a bunch of people who care about him as his relationship with yuujirou advances too
since the relationship was the main focus, i wrote a very simple outline for how it would develop throughout 5 hypothetical chapters that was just: 1. civil w each other but mostly bad > 2. bad > 3. half friends > 4. pining > 5. date
and then with that in mind and the bullet point list, the final basic outline ended up like this:
Tumblr media
there were scraped ideas and ideas that made it in later, but i believe having a simple outline, a bare skeleton to add things to, is important. stories need continuity, development requires a prior buildup
it's especially important in multichapter fics where you post as you write, you need to have a more or less clear idea of what's going to happen because you can't ignore scenes you've already posted
shorter stories don't need it as much, you can think as you go, but it's still helpful to know where you're going with things to avoid getting stuck
and, on getting stuck: don't be afraid of deleting things. if you can't figure out how to continue things, then delete the situation and start again. it might feel like you'd be wasting time but in the end, it is so much better than being stuck on the same scene for weeks
in fact, you don't have to write in order. jump to the next scene and you'll figure it out later. you Can write the scene you want to write and then build everything else around it
it's normal to write a scene and then realize it would make more sense later in the story, or that it would be better if you added another scene earlier, or sometimes you just find it easier to jump from one part of the story to another. rely on your outline to keep track of what you've written, what you have left to write and what's the best way to arrange your story. make your story understandable
which bring us to editing
there's a lot of much better posts on editing stories, but yeah ctrl+f is your best friend: don't repeat yourself too much. and be sure to vary sentence and paragraph length, as well as sentence structure, to give dynamism to the writing
now, i've mentioned before the show, don't tell rule, but i'm going to talk a bit more about it because it's quite important
once again there's a lot of posts that explain more in depth what it is, so i'm not going to expand too much on that, but, very basically, try to avoid things like "then some time passed and they became friends". explain it: what happened exactly? how did they become friends? if it's important, show it to us, instead of summarizing
since things like these make the story longer, it also gives room for more development and proper explanation for things that happen
for example, the fic was originally going to start with them already in the room, and the whole situation would have been explained in a single paragraph somewhere, but by actually adding the scene where they first arrive to the dorms and argue with the lady at the main desk, the story flows better and it let me actually describe their first meeting
and uuuhhh i think that's all? this took super long to write i hope i didn't forget any super basic stuff lol
i want to add that for enemies to lovers i greatly recommend this post bc it's super good but yeah i think that's basically it, if you have any more specific questions just shoot me an ask

Feel free to focus on bolded sections to skim for the subject of every bullet point. I’m way too wordy, but I just want to be informative. I’m not actually very strict or demanding!
How I Play:
I am semi-private and semi-selective. What this means is that mutuals (meaning people who follow me and I follow back) are free to interact with me IC in asks or by tagging me in posts or by responding to my starters, and they are also free to DM me or send me any kind of ask OOC or tag me in posts they relate to me (so unless there’s some loophole I’m not thinking of, it’s basically ‘anything goes’ with mutuals). Plotting is cool; talking about things other than RP is also probably cool (though I can be a little shy with new people sometimes, forgive me). People who I do not follow back (aka non-mutuals) are still totally free to follow me. They can send in asks about/to my muse either IC or OOC or ask about my thoughts on YTTD-topics, but I am probably uncomfortable speaking OOC in DMs about RP or doing any kind of plotting. Non-mutuals can also send in starter memes, but they would be one-off types of interactions (meaning no growing relationship) and might not be continued very far in a thread. Feel free to message me with questions if this description isn’t making sense to you.
I may not follow back for myriad reasons all regarding my personal preferences (characterization choices, writing style/ability, frustrating blog layout, missing rules/info, etc). Please do not take this personally. If this happens, you are still welcome to initiate interaction with me in any way, IC or OOC!  Also, if I do follow back, I definitely want to RP with you!
I will likely unfollow and decline to interact if you have too much OOC drama / anti behavior / fandom hate / bullying / callouts / discourse / politics / worldview on your blog. Huge pet peeves of mine. I repeat, I do not support callout culture.
I am open to the possibility of interacting with duplicates of my muse. I will automatically assume one of them is an AI or doll, but whatever the case, we should probably talk about how to go about this.
I am up-to-date on the game. This blog is not spoiler free. That being said, it might be wise to communicate when in the timeline our muses are interacting.
I have depression as well as performance/social anxiety. My moods and levels of inspiration/motivation vary widely. I know that is inconvenient, sorry! So in general, I don’t push myself to be prolific, and can drop threads or be slow at responding.
I may drop a thread due to general anxiety (not necessarily related to the thread), lack of ideas, or loss of inspiration, my deepest apologies. Don’t feel bad and DO feel free to continue interactions with my muse in the future!
I operate my muse based on what I feel is in his character to do at that moment. Sometimes that makes planning difficult, because he may not respond to a circumstance in a way I anticipated. Sorry if things do not go as planned. But I do also love plotting and overthinking things, hah.
I am willing to play dark scenes including gore/violence, angst, horror, abuse, torture, my character’s death, etc., and there will be disturbing or mature content like that on this blog. I’m new to this fandom, so I’m not exactly sure how much content warning tags are really necessary, considering I presume everybody played this brutal game. However, any content warnings I decide to give will be noted with the tag “cw:” followed by the label.
I am open to the possibility of shipping everybody from high school and up. If you disagree with or object to this decision, please just unfollow/block/move on. I’m too tired.
I choose to write sexual scenes. I reserve the right to portray anything from healthy, fluffy relationships/scenes to dark, toxic, or abusive relationships/scenes. I don’t condone abuse or toxicity in real life. I respect the grave nature of such behaviors, but that will not prevent me from writing said subjects with this understanding of reality in mind. However, I respect those who do not want to see or roleplay sex, will never push said people to do so, and will keep explicit sexual content under a ‘read more’, tagged “smut”. I expect to be treated with similar respect for my choice in written subject matter.
I only roleplay smut with muns who are above the age of consent. I am uncomfortable doing so with underage individuals, so please do not attempt if you are under age 18.
What I Appreciate:
Let me know if something I’m doing in a thread with you is making you uncomfortable. I myself am comfortable with exploring some very dark themes. I will do my part to check your blog rules, and I apologize if I am ever forgetful about anything mentioned.
Please try to refrain from controlling my muse’s thoughts and actions (unless that is actually within the capabilities of your muse; ask me).
Please try to remember to start a new post instead of reblogging an ask post over and over.
I would be so grateful if multimuse blogs could tag the muse they are using in their posts. This helps me filter out the inevitable multitude posts on my dash that will not be relevant to my muse or even fandom and keeps it from becoming absolute chaos. Obviously it’s your blog, and I’m not here to tell you what to do, but this prevention of inconvenience will make me somewhat more likely to follow you.
Please do not steal my original (detailed) headcanons or icons or use images in posts tagged “My Edits” without my permission. If you’re not sure, ask me; I promise I won’t bite for such a question.
What Is Acceptable:
Mutuals always feel free to send me an ask, IM, or communicate in our RP thread if you have something to say or ask. Or if you just have a random comment! Seriously, anything.
Non-mutuals, honestly, if you’re not sure whether or not it is acceptable to interact with me in a certain way, and you try to interact with good or neutral intentions, I’m not going to be hostile or scary. If I’m not interested, I might not respond due to social awkwardness. Know that if this happens, I don’t want you to have hurt feelings; I appreciate your willingness to have wanted to interact with me.
It never hurts to follow me to see if I am interested in following back! At the very least, I am flattered for being considered.
If it seems like I’ve forgotten about a thread or neglected to respond and you really want to continue it, feel free to message me to remind/ask about it.
Let me know if there is something you want tagged, and I will try to accommodate with what I see as reasonable.
I am 100% cool with us engaging in more than one thread at once. Do it!
All starter/ask memes/prompts on my blog are open all the time, no matter how old. Feel free to browse the tag and send in something you like! I would only request that you try to include the title of the post/collection in your ask so I can find it more easily.
I accept some OCs and characters from other fandoms but can be picky about them. It would be nice to be able to find some background info on them on your blog. For characters from other fandoms, I will be much more likely to follow if they have a YTTD verse included in their description, but you can pitch me a different proposition if you have one. Try not to take it personally if it turns out I’m not interested in following.
I am sometimes okay with roleplaying total AUs (as in, a completely different setting), but it is not my default preference. The best way to go about seeing if I’m interested would probably be to message me.
As this is also just a general purpose Sou fan blog, all types of blogs (aside from spam/porn and antis) are free to follow, like my posts, and reblog non-RP-related posts.
Thanks a bunch for slogging through this!

This blog is not spoiler free. I have seen the playthroughs of all major Danganronpa games as well as much of the lesser-known content, and my posts will contain any such information without warning.
When Ouma is speaking, I have him adhere to Japanese customs to refer to others, meaning he will often use last names and honorifics when applicable from Japanese canon (to the best of my knowledge, which isn’t expansive or perfect).
I have depression as well as performance/social anxiety, and I am in college full-time. My moods, levels of inspiration/motivation, and availability will vary widely. I know that is inconvenient, sorry! So in general, I don’t push myself to be prolific, and can be slow at responding. Please try to remember to start a new post instead of reblogging an ask post over and over. It makes things look neater and more organized.

For characters from other fandoms, I will be much more likely to follow if they have a Persona verse included in their description, but you can pitch me a different proposition if you have one. Try not to take it personally if it turns out I’m not interested in following.
I am sometimes okay with roleplaying total AUs (as in, a completely different setting), but it is not my default preference. The best way to go about seeing if I’m interested would probably be to message me.
As this is also just a general purpose Akechi fan blog, all types of blogs (aside from spam/porn and antis) are free to follow, like my posts, and reblog non-RP-related posts.
Thanks a bunch for slogging through this!

Rules
Feel free to focus on bolded sections to skim for the subject of every bullet point. I’m way too wordy, but I just want to be informative. I’m not actually very strict or demanding!
How I Play:
I am semi-private and semi-selective. What this means is that people I’m following are free to interact with me in any way, IC or OOC. People who I do not follow are still totally free to follow me. They can send in asks about/to my muse either IC or OOC or ask about my thoughts on DR-topics, but I am probably uncomfortable speaking OOC in DMs about RP or doing any kind of plotting.
If this happens, you are still welcome to initiate interaction with me in the above-mentioned ways!
This blog is not spoiler free. I have seen all major canon content related to my muse and then some. I relinquish the responsibility of tagging or otherwise warning for spoilers.
I will not be recognizing Danganronpa V3 as canon. I have not seen or played the game in its entirety, but I have read its general overview and ending and don’t care about spoilers. I play the Danganronpa series as non-fiction within its universe. If somebody wants to interact with me with a V3 character, they are welcome, as I don’t begrudge the characters themselves, but it will have to be some kind of AU in which the events of DR1-3 actually occurred.
When Togami is speaking, I have him adhere to Japanese customs to refer to others, meaning he will be using last names. If you use first names, he will act like this is normal but continue to use my method in my posts. If this is awkward or jarring to you, let me know, and I can probably accommodate.
I have depression as well as performance/social anxiety. My moods and levels of inspiration/motivation vary widely. I know that is inconvenient, sorry! So in general, I don’t push myself to be prolific, and can be slow at responding. I may drop a thread due to general anxiety (not necessarily related to the thread), lack of ideas, or loss of inspiration, my deepest apologies. Don’t feel bad and DO feel free to continue interactions with my muse in the future!
I am willing to play dark scenes including gore/violence, angst, horror, abuse, torture, my character’s death, etc., and there will likely be disturbing or mature content like that on this blog. Content warnings will be tagged with “cw:” followed by the label.
I choose to write sexual scenes. I reserve the right to portray non-platonic relationships and anything that entails, as well as potentially darker, unhealthy scenes and relationships (all with consent from the other mun, of course).
Please do not attempt if you are under age 18.
IC ≠ OOC, muse ≠ mun. As I am a sensible human being, the thoughts and actions of my muse that I write or witness are not necessarily ones I would support or agree with.
What I Appreciate:
I am a huge fan of thorough communication. If you are planning on attempting to kill or torture my muse, it would be nice for some notification of this (either in the post/tags or in a message) at least one post beforehand.
Let me know if something I’m doing in a thread with you is making you uncomfortable. I myself am comfortable with exploring some very dark themes. I will do my part to check your blog rules, and I apologize if I am ever forgetful about anything mentioned.
Please let me know if any part of my blog layout/organization is frustrating or dysfunctional on your screen or in your experience, and feel free to point out any major typos you see as well.
Please try to refrain from controlling my muse’s thoughts and actions (unless you have an IC ability to do so; ask me).
Please try to remember to start a new post instead of reblogging an ask post over and over. It makes things look neater and more organized.
People I am following, always feel free to tag me in posts, send me an ask / DM, or communicate in our RP thread if you have something to say or ask. Or if you just have a random comment! Seriously, anything.
People I am not following, honestly, if you’re not sure whether or not it is acceptable to interact with me in a certain way, and you try to interact with good or neutral intentions, I’m not going to be hostile or scary.

Diversity in Erotica: Trans Edition. Part Three: How Trans Men Have Sex
((Disclaimer: Nonbinary trans people are a thing. Trans people who only id as ‘trans’ are a thing. For readability, I have limited myself to ‘trans men’ for this piece. Any use of the word ‘man’ or ‘men’ should be assumed to be about trans men- if I need to reference cis people, I will specifically say so.))
So, again, we’re going to start with the very basic statement that all sex (written and real) should start with- communication.
You have more leeway with characters if they are in a pre-established relationship and have had sex before. But in general, you’re going to want to have some sort of communication going on.
Maybe your guy sets the tone in terms of language first by saying he wants his partner to suck his cock. Maybe he’s the more nervous type and does anxiously babble a little bit in the beginning. Trans people don’t need to apologize for wanting to be touched, or not touched, in a specific way- but if it fits with your character to just be anxious about their body in general? There’s room to move. Maybe he starts out with ‘sorry, don’t want anything in me tonight’ and it’s an anxious statement, or maybe he says it in a half joking tone.
During the undressing stage, a pre-op man might need to take off his binder or the sports bras he layers to create a similar flattening effect. He might remove a packer, or wear special underwear.  There might be scars, either from bottom surgery or top surgery. These are other small details that can make a big difference. He might feel self-conscious about these things, or try to explain to his partner what they are.
Communication is so important and everyone has a different style.
Like I stressed in the post about trans women, if there was one thing I could get people to understand about sex in general- it's that penetrative sex is not the end all be all.
Because that is the most obvious place to go, we’ll start with penetrative sex.
Pre-op trans men are able to have sex in both of their ‘down stairs’ regions. Some of them don’t like to! Some of them love anal but wouldn’t dream of touching the other. Same in the other direction. Enjoying penetration doesn’t make them any less of a man- and on the flip side, not all trans men ‘bottom’ or are the submissive party.
The biggest thing to note with these kinds of sex is your language preference. What words are being used? Is there anything being done to mitigate dysphoria for those who might be experiencing it?
What I mean by that is are they doing anything to soothe dysphoria or make it less obvious? Maybe your guy likes to be fucked while having his packer stroked off. Maybe he prefers the lights off or to be under the covers so that he can’t see what is going on. Maybe he can’t stand when his partner talks about what is happening down there. Maybe he does- maybe he needs that reassurance.
Lube is often necessary for trans men if they’re on T- but how do they prefer it to be delivered?
Get a feel for your character and what he would like.
On the other side of penetrative sex- we have trans men as the penetrative partners.
Obviously they’re able to penetrate using fingers/hands just like everyone else. If they’re the kind of post op that takes skin from other parts of the body to create a penis, they can also penetrate using their dick. He may need other measures to get hard (some include a pump, others use a sleeve) but he does have a functioning dick.
Strap-ons are also an option. If so? How does your character feel about a strap on? Does he feel silly? Does he waggle his hips to show off how it can move? Does he like to make jokes with his partner about how many different dicks they can choose from for the night? Does he prefer one like the realdoe that goes inside of him as well as his partner? Does he wear his strapon over his boxers?
What kind of sensory details can you include regarding how it feels to the person being penetrated? Some strap ons are realistic some are tentacles or just colorful. Some are harder than others. These are little details that make such a big difference in the how real your piece feels.
Some other ways that pre-op trans men play (or post-op trans men who went with the ‘smaller’ option that doesn’t involve skin grafts) include doctoring toys or using things for slightly different reasons than their original purposes.
There are these things called nipple suckers which can be applied to pre-op packages to stimulate them. Some men use their stps (stand to pee device) to get off, placing the edge against them so that they can stroke the fake cock and the motion will still stimulate them. Other stps come with rods to help with the same thing.
Tenga eggs are masturbation sleeves basically. They have all sorts of different kinds of ridges inside, and they can be slid over their dick and rutted up into or rubbed down. Some trans guys think that the hole for them for them is a little too big, so this is something to keep in mind.
There’s also the Bro Sleeve made for ‘smaller’ men, which states that it’s great for oral stimulation because of the open top.
There is a masturbation sleeve made specifically for trans men. It was created by Buck Angel. It is specifically designed to be more the right size for trans men. Like the tenga egg it has a closed top which provides more stimulation. It is relatively new, released late 2016, so new versions may come out.
So it is up to personal preference and availability which one of these a trans man might use.
Some trans men even take a water bottle and fill it a third of the way to halfway with warm water, use a condom to cover the mouth and seal it off with a rubber band. They then lay back and cover themselves with the condom, rocking the bottle so that it mimics the way a mouth or vagina might feel around them.
Post-op men who opt for no skin grafts, as well as pre-op men on hormones can often jerk off their cocks as well, even if it is smaller than we think of usually with that activity.
There’s sex toys like the satisfyer pro 2 and the Womanizer (apologies for the name) that basically create a mock sucking sensation. These can be used with the handle up- and the handle be stroked while still supplying stimulation where they can get off.
Some trans men will use vibrators inside of their ass to stimulate themselves from that side. It can take a while to train themselves to orgasm that way- but not everyone aims for an orgasm anyway.
This seems like a lot of information about masturbation, but these are ways that a partner might stimulate them as well. Or a partner might watch them.
Again- don’t forget their upper halves.
Some trans men still have larger chests, some pre-op men don’t. Some men are post-op and have had their chests removed. You can remark on things like scars during descriptions, but also figure out whether or not your character enjoys nipple play. Whether or not they’re self conscious and want to wear a shirt.
Post-op nipples can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and sensitivities. They might have them tattooed on, might have their original nipples altered to be smaller or just have them regrafted. They might choose not to have nipples at all.
There are all sorts of ways that trans men have sex, and you don’t have to try and fit everything into one piece. But these are different things to consider while writing erotica involving trans men.
I included a comment about fetishization last time- and I think it’s important to do so again. Trans men are not the ‘best of both worlds’, don’t spend an unusual amount of time focusing on their genitals. Gay men who sleep with trans men are still gay and straight women who sleep with trans men are still straight.

7 January 2019
Writing class with Line Ulekleiv.
Wrote the following text:
One of these days I should sit down and think through the reasons why I resist so much declaring my references. It must be somehow related to my predilection for independent thinking and complexity, as opposed to any form of unconditioned admiration, personality cult and reductivism. At the same time I must admit I get a certain amount of pleasure in contradicting myself.
A while ago, a friend sent me a link to an interesting website. After a first quick look, I decided I definitely had to set time aside in order to study it in depth. As often happens, it slipped my mind shortly after, but it popped into my head on several occasions later on. I really must take a deeper look at that, I reminded myself at each time, and then again it slipped my mind.
I’ve just found the link and clicked on it. Actually the website’s name is quite easy to remember. Everybodystoolbox.net. From now on I shall remember it. It has been set up in 2006 as a wiki, an internet content pool that anyone can freely edit, by an open group based on interest and named Everybodys. It is a platform for the exchange of works, methodologies and production models, that focuses on the development and dissemination of tools and discourses that exist within the performing arts. The website includes a “Workshop Kit” composed of different sections. In one of them, a set of “Games” based on precise yet open instructions or rules, can be used to develop ideas or works. “Scores and descriptions” proposes to put in relation different forms of notation, such as existing or purpose-written scores and descriptions of performances, as a way to expand the possible understandings of a piece but also to develop new works. The section “Interviews” includes the instructions to conduct individual or group self interview, as well as examples contributed by a number of artists.
Sometimes I include written instructions in my work, while with other projects I use recognisable structures, frames or predefined models within which I let things happen, therefore allowing for a high degree of freedom and unpredictability. Such frames or models can be seen as forms of regulation hence, in my point of view, as a chance to find alternative solutions, a pretext to develop different approaches and practices by turning obstructions and limitations into resources.
Rules and instructions regulate the way things should be done within a defined context, a set of limitations and parameters that require a common acknowledgement but can also be interpreted and adapted according to the individual’s level of engagement. I am interested in the tension between rules as regulatory statements, and the discrepancies produced when interpreted and translated into practice. Such discrepancies can be accidentally or deliberately produced, and used in a transformative way. If rules define limitations and restrictions, they can also foster processes of adaptation, interpretation and transformation. Playing by the rules, playing with the rules, changing the rules or breaking the rules are options at the players’ disposal, some more suitable than others in challenging the rigidity of the game.
One of these days I should sit down and think through the specificities of the contexts I want to address, each one with its own implicit or explicit regulations, frames and models. One of these days I should sit down and define which game I want to play, which rules to keep, which rules to add, which rules to improve and which rules to dump.
I run out of time. I must suspend writing due to family obligations but I promise I will resume at a later time. I won’t forget this time. You know what? I am going to add it to my reference book! My reference book is an address book with alphabetical index tabs that I fill with names of artists, works, writers, books, films and so on. These references have been recommended to me by friends and colleagues after I showed them one or more projects I have done. Some references are relevant and on point, while other not as much...Unluckily I have not been very consistent with taking note of all the names and works that have been recommended to me throughout the years. Moreover, I forget to thoroughly study the names and works that made to those pages...I should definitely set time aside for this.
In the meanwhile, here is the current list: A-B Bernadette Corporation, Francis Alys’s Fabiola, Sven Augustijnen’s Spectres, Guillaume Bijl’s Souvenirs of the 20th Century, Ricardo Grey, George Bataille’s De la Part Maudite, Giorgio Agamben’s Note sul Gesto, Cezary Bodzianowski, Stanley Brown’s A Short Manifesto, Conrad Bakker, Walter Benjamin’s The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and Theses on the Philosophy of History, Hans Belting’s An Anthropology of Images: Picture, Medium, Body and The End of the History of Art?, Judith Butler, Roland Barthes’s Mythologies and La Mort de l'Auteur and La Chamber Claire and Éléments de Sémiologie, Marina Abramovic’s The Artist is Present, Roy Andersson, Louis Borges, Alain Badiou, Boyle Family, Baktruppen, Pierre Bismuth’s Where is Rocky?; C-D Adam Curtis’s The Century of the Self, the exhibition Correspondences at Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, DreamWorks Animation’s Chicken Run, Stefaan Dheedene, Tacita Dean, Régis Debray’s Transmettre, Sophie Calle, Koenraad Dedobbeleer, Martin Creed, Marquis De Sade, Nico Doxx, Dizionario di Retorica e Stilistica, Jacques Derrida’s Plato's Pharmacy, Gabriele Di Matteo; E-F Harun Farocki, James Ensor, Hans Peter Feldmann, De Appel Curatorial Program Fluiten In Het Donker, Olivier Foulon’s Isa Genzken’s Ring, Sigmund Freud’s Mourning and Melancholia and the concept of Polymorphous Perversity, Emilio Fantin, Robert Filliou, Andrea Frazer; G-H Hitchcock’s MacGuffin, Kristján Guðmundsson, Robert Pogue Harrison’s The Dominion of the Dead, Douglas Hubler, Sigurður Guðmundsson’s Pavement, Street, Tibor Gyenis’ Ten Superflous Gestures, Witold Gombrowicz, the term Happenstance, Ane Hjort Guttu’s How to Become a Non- Artist, Roger Hiorns, René Girard’s Théorie Mimétique; I-J Jasper John’s writings, Jean-Yves Jouannais’ Artistes sans œuvres, Christian Jankowski; K-L Komar and Melamid, Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon, Michael Landy’s Break Down, Joshua Knelman’s Hot Art, Kris Kimpe’s exhibition design, Marijn Van Kreij, Andrei Kuzkin, Joachim Koester, We communicate only through our shared dismissal of the pre- linguistic: fourteen analyses (1995) in Mike Kelley : minor histories--statements, conversations, proposals, Valery Konevin, Martin Kippenberger’s Lieber maler male mir, Shaurya Kumar’s The Lost Museum, Paul Klee’s drawings, Sherrie Levine, Rafael Lozano and Susie Ramsay’s Ok Art Manifesto; M-N: Kobe Matthys’ Agentshap, Ivan Moudov, Brussels’ Musée de la Police, Matt Mullican’s That Person, Paul McCarthy’s On the figure of the artist; O-P Nicolas Provost’s Plot Point, Ola Pehrson’s Hunt for the Unabomber, George Perec’s Life, a manual; Q-R Kurt Ryslavy, Alain Resnais’ Les statues meurent aussi, Ugo Rondinone’s Your Age and my Age and the Age of the Sun, Robert Rauschenberg’s Erased De Kooning Drawing, Gert Robyns, Michael Rakowitz, S-T Harald Szeeman’s Les Machines Celibataires, Edward Steichen’s The Family of Man, Taryin Simon’s Contraband, Adam Parker Smith’s Thanks, Schrodinger’s cat paradox, Simon Starling, Wolfgang Tillmans, SI-LA-GI’s Apology, Bálint Szombathy’s Lenin in Budapest, Koki Tanaka; U-V Van Eyek Mystic Lamb lost panel at STAM Museum in Ghent, Anton Vidockle’s Art without market, art without education: political economy of art, Enrique Vila-Matas’ Bartleby & Co, Ulay at Neuenationalgalerie in Berlin, Franco Vaccari, Paul Virilio’s L’accident original, Paul Valery, Mierle Laderman Ukuleles’ Maintenance Art Performances, Alex Villar; W-X David Foster Wallace’s A supposedly fun thing I’ll never do again, Peter Watkins’ La Commune, Stephen Willats; Y-Z Snorre Ytterstad.
