HELLO SWEETHEART HOW R U TODAY? haha im hypersensitive because yuck last night i didn’t sleep at all, stayed up till 7am to edit/fix my newest update. i was too depressed in may and whole month i didn’t post or touch wattpad. i was surprised that it actually took me only 2 nights to finish my planned writing. i tend to write between 1k-2k words for 1 chapter because i do long series. only prob is do i have the mood for creative ideas or not. it needs to match my vibe of that fiction.

oh and tbh i crave for smut but i rarely write them (mostly avoid them intentionally) because it hurts my back (whole body). writing smut is a bigger form of art and yeh i usually enjoy eating up than cooking. 1 smut chapter tends to be somewhere between 3-6k words so... i... i mean... 😓 sorry for my readers. tbh i was sooo happy that they all greeted me when i came back after disappearing for a month without any warning 💀 (i feel so bad but at least i survived and served them hehe). 🤓💖✨ lucky and grateful to say that they love the newest chapter so much. they said i did so well (im so proud of myself and them 👽🚀 literally wrote that in 2 nights wtf).

sorry honey i talked too much again. just im very happy today ✨ u can totally tell cuz i usually do not use so many icons hehe. expressing love!! anyway i gain courage and support and yeh most importantly the mood from you after sending in the latest ask (i went to wattpad right after that ask to note down my ideas then fucking went feral with speed running) hope you’ll receive the same energy and have some good free time to write your lovely words down! writing and imagining is my way to relax/run away from reality/save myself so i usually use it as method to calm my unstable mental health hehe. wish you a great day/night honey. ily 🐰

That actually so cool for you. I can definitely relate to the speedrunning part because since I started this blog I had to do it an embarrassing amount of times. It's not my fault that Alhaitham was born so close to Valentine's day. Sadly all nighters aren't possible for me yet, but as soon as this shit is over I'm becoming a nocturnal creature.

And yeah, smut is hard to write. My biggest thing is that I'm scared of getting repetitive, like how many ways is there to describe a hole? I was actually planning to ask if I was becoming too repetitive.

I've already told you this, but I really don't think you need to worry about your audience. Like, if someone like me who disappears for a month after dropping each work can sustain decent following I don't think that you're in any trouble. But I'm really happy your readers like it. You should be proud of yourself.

I love reading your rambles, please don't stop sending them. It warms up my heart whenever I see you in my inbox it's genuinely insane. I'm glad my writing is having a similar effect on you. Coping with life has been becoming harder with each day, so many things going on at the same time, you know? If my presence means anything to you then I'm content with this blog.

fic i spent the least time on: oh man, here’s the thing, i do not spend a lot of time on my smaller fics, but i have to say Skilled Hands and Talented Tongues, my House of Cards fic which exists (for some reason) just flowed, so I’ll say that one. 

longest fic: for want of a nail, which is 23,212 words and counting (it’s going to go up...some day)

shortest fic: hmm, so i tend to post fics between 500 and 2k, but some of my old, old fics are shorter, so i’ll have to say Little Girls Shouldn’t Go to Space, a Star Trek AOS nearly drabble that comes in at 99 words. I posted that in 2013. I was a wee baby. 

most hits: i could go with a poem that i posted years ago, but it’s not fandom related (still it has over 7,000 hits which...uh, how), so i’ll go with a fic: Open Your Eyes, a genderswapped Bond fic which has over 2000 hits which I guess speaks to what happens when you post a fic 1) at the height of Skyfall and Q/Bond fury and 2) seven years ago. I tagged it porn without plot, which isn’t entirely accurate. But it’s probably the closest I’ve gotten to smut. 

most kudos: Open Your Eyes again, although my first Terror fic, you don’t have to be a ghost here among the living, you are flesh and blood, and you deserve to be loved and you deserve what you are given, and oh how much (i was on a Florence + the Machine kick, OKAY) 

most comment threads: i know i seem shaky, these hands aren’t fit for holding, an Expanse fic, which was my first dive into that fandom, and boy what a dive

most bookmarks: in a moment of joy and fury i threw myself from the balcony like my grandmother, so many years before me, a star wars sort-of ben/poe fic which i do enjoy very much, even if i don’t think it’s my best work

favorite fic: hmmm...i am rather fond of because i am done with my graceless heart, so tonight i’m gonna cut it out and then restart, a bellevue sort-of fix-it fic which i wrote in a fit of WTF IS THIS SHOW. (i’m fond of all my fics, though, they are my children) another fic i just LOVE is an Angels in America fic I wrote (I KNOW): In San Francisco, which is basically a love letter to Harper. 

fic i most want to expand on/rewrite: hmmm...so many of my fics are relatively new, but i do kind of want to expand on The Samuel Survives the Finale-verse series, even if I killed off Cobbs in Fever 1793 OOPS (maybe that’s just an alternate ending or something), mainly because i find the two of them post-series to be fascinating, and i’m pissed we never got to see them together again.

as far as rewriting goes, i don’t like rewriting for myself personally, and when i go back and read my fics, i don’t feel any pressing desire to reconfigure anything. i know that writing’s a different process for everyone, but i use my backspace key so much that i’m in a constant state of editing and revision. 

share a bit of a wip/story idea you’re working on: oh so many, but i did have a splash of inspiration for a casablanca fic set in the present-day, where Louis and Rick get stuck in Charles de Gaulle airport during a storm. i was supposed to write it for Lock Down Fest, but wasn’t able to, but I’d still like to write it. 

i also have that hogwarts/expanse AU fic that i’m working on, and it could end up being very long, if i’m lucky.

From the Ask Game Post celebrating finishing Act 1 of Gotcha:

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an "architect" or a "gardener"? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)

Grrrrr I have a very low opinion of him lol. But as to the actual question – with the exclusion of Gotcha, definitely a gardener. I generally get a snapshot or a scene or two, and then start working out from there. Sometimes it's just letting it sit for a while and see what starts connecting, and sometimes I'm actively going okay but what happened between? How did they get there? After I've got enough parts I have to start getting a little more specific about the daydreaming. Or, well, I don't, nothing is topping me from posting 2k of one random scene!

(And now I ramble about outlining Gotcha lord what a project:)

Gotcha is a very different experience. It started out because I wanted a lot of not that kinky sex between Quentin and Peter, way back in... ooof, Sept 2019. So I literally made a list of the things I wanted them to do, lol, and then kept thinking of more. There were so many that I wanted to be part of the same fic that I realized I'd have to have some sort of connective bits between, sigh.

And then, uh, the connective bits started getting more important and there were emotions and plot and wtf? By that time I had realized I couldn't put this all in one massive doc, but I didn't have a timeline or a real idea of what went where, just that some certain things happened and how I wanted it to end. Scenes kept popping up and it was getting more and more overwhelming. It didn't help that I was working overnights at a hotel during that time, so I literally had eight hours all alone with nothing to do but daydream and write (well it was a good thing too but).

I realized that as much as I've never been a fan of outlines, I needed something for this monster. I'd finished Better Than not that long ago and not having a structure for it was difficult.

I ended up really liking the format of the percentage outlining I found here, because I could figure out those basic points easily enough, and then start figuring out where the problems went, and then roughly how much space should be filled between them. I probably spent four or five nights messing with it, getting one for the fic as a whole and then one for each of the six acts (also basically why I did six acts vs any other number lol). And while a few things have moved around, those have stayed pretty solid throughout.

Great! But then I reached another point, where it was like... the space between 20% and 35% of one act ends up being like 20k, I need a little more structure withing THAT jfc help.

I spent a really, really long agonizing amount of time trying to map it out precisely on a calendar. Which was really frustrating when I had something pinned to a certain date – say, Halloween – but I wanted scene 1 to happen at least two weeks before that and that meant scenes 2-5 need to happen before that but scene 6 is tied to a date only a month earlier, how can I fit that many scenes in there???? But forcing myself to really work within that framework helped me make stronger connections between scenes and reasons for things to go where they do.

I've gotten away from being exact down to the day of a specific year and let most things fall 'sometime within this week', but it's still really useful. Right now I've actually got a sticky note map up on my wall that I was using to restructure Act 2 before I got really going on edits. I did that for 1-3 at one point and being able to visually see color coded clusters like that was incredibly helpful.

I kind of hope I don't ever have to get that exact or detailed for another fic because holy crap it's been a lot, but I also don't think I could have gotten far on Gotcha without it.

Small September Wins

1 - its JK's birthday, and BTS also got #1 Billboard 🥺 and then dave uploaded a video of him shaving his eyebrows. Somehow theres a lot of stuff happening as Sept starters! I hope all goes well in this month. Aamiin. DL, 6P

2 - DL, e (exercise), finished to 4 padi (took a while, but i still try to be proud), watched in the soop ep 2 yay!!!

Drank janjiw’s hazelnut latte and im still not sleepy (its currently 11 pm). like usually bcs i dont move a lot and its a boring routine day to day, im not 100% “awake”. most of the time im running on probably 90-95%, like there’s still that feel of tiredness looming behind, a slight feel on the head. (except after exercise or freshly woken up and bathed) but after coffee, my head doesnt feel the usual tiiiny weight, my eyes somehow feel like they’re fully open lmao. i see the bed and im not even thinking abt laying down and sleeping. my head feels clearer, if that makes sense. is this how other ppl feel all the time? but i feel sbux’s coffee doesnt quite have the “effect” on me like janjiw do. maybe bcs it’s arabica vs robusta. and today my back feels somewhat strong and not tired!! my legs were sore from yesterday but i can sit and do stuff for a while and not feel like ugh on my back
