one of my favorite often overlooked details is that there were many characters in the vicinity where benny was being tormented by maloof and mikhail, and no one did anything about it. ford was right there, raking leaves, minding his own business. he probably would step in if they get too serious, but the point remains. nils, bobby, and chloe were literally right there, well within viewing distance, and they turn a blind eye. chloe and bobby even walk in the direction of benny's screaming, and it's implied they go on their merry way because bobby is painfully aware that he's outmatched (and also couldn't care less.) chloe would also not approve of such blatant earthling violence, but she has enough sense to know when to leave a problem alone. there's also the chance clem and crystal could see (or maybe hear) benny because crystal was able to spot chloe and nils, so maybe, they could see benny's jostling, wriggling body and decided to snicker to themselves (clem would think it's justified, crystal would feel a little bad for him, but it goes away just as quickly since benny is notably awful to her).
