BOOTLEGS 2023
The year is winding down, so it's time to look back at the last 12 month's crop of live tapes. Crowd noise, tape hiss, distortion, murk ... and plenty of magic, people! As I do this year after year, I ask myself: "Why do I do this year after year?" I guess it's a habit I can't break. But I do love something about these cloudy recordings — the immediacy, the imperfections, the possibilities. Each bootleg, no matter how lo-fi, contains a glimmer of hope, a potential for beauty and transcendence. The fact that not all of them (few of them, in fact!) really deliver on that promise is part of the deal. The search continues!
Anyhoo, here's a sampling of the Doom & Gloom goods from 2023 to get you caught up ... thank you to the tapers, the archivists, the fans, the innocents.

Bad Touch - Bittersweet Satisfaction
Release Date: 8 Dec 2023
Norfolk-based good-time blues rockers Bad Touch have found a renewed sense of purpose and determination with their new release, ‘Bittersweet Satisfaction’.
Recorded at The Marshall Studio in Milton Keynes, it was self-produced by the band, with a collection of classic rock anthems with heart and soul.
Founding member and guitarist Daniel 'Seeks' Seekings says, "We are a feel-good, good-time rock’n’roll band, and really, why does it need to be more complicated than that?" It’s been recorded and finished for half a year, and, with a more polished, mainstream sound than they’ve explored before, but still with its roots in the classic rock of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and The Black Crowes."
Frontman Stevie Westwood says, "We've never sat on anything that long because we're like kids in a candy shop, as soon as we write something, we want to get out there and play stuff. So, it's very exciting. It's slightly more mature. I love every song. It's a different sound for Bad Touch. It's less balls-to-the-wall rock, and the songs seem a bit more thoughtful rather than just kind of exploded out of a tin can."
‘Bittersweet Satisfaction’ sees Bad Touch back, bigger, and bolder than ever before. There are no filler tracks on this album; every track is outstanding, combining classic rock riffs with choruses destined for stadiums. Their fun loving attitude has certainly helped create a some of their best work to date.
Tour Dates 29 Sep 2023 - Edinburgh, Rockinburgh 30 Sep 2023 - Sunderland, Independent 10 Nov 2023 - Grimsby, Rockmantic 24-26 May 2024 - Lincoln, 'Call of the Wilde' Festival.

Swiss Portrait - All I Want (Indie Rock)
🕑 1 min / Text: Adrian Release Date: May 26, 2023 I think there needs to be no introduction to this talented Edinburgh-based artist. Yes, we featured Michael Kay Terence aka Swiss Portrait a couple of times here on our blog, and it's great to see him back with another fabulous release. 'All I Want' sounds pretty upbeat, a little melancholic, and even joyful at the same time, but the lyrics actually deal with stress and trauma. The melodies are very easy to listen to, and I really dig the amazing guitar and drum work the song has to offer. 'All I Want' is another outstanding dream pop / lofi rock jam and a great addition to our playlist. I really hope you like what you hear! Energy: ★★★★★ | Melody: ★★★★★ | Production: ★★★★☆ | Arrangement: ★★★☆☆ | Stream: https://open.spotify.com/track/6GPjqfueTBpiLdrcGsgkXV Follow: https://www.instagram.com/swiss.portrait/ ✔️ Available on our Indie Playlist on Spotify.

The Cultch lines up a sixth annual Femme Festival
The Cultch has announced the line-up for its sixth annual Femme Festival. With seven performances from women in music, theatre, dance, comedy, and circus, The Cultch’s Femme Festival will fill its three stages April 15-May 14, 2023. April 26-30 The Cultch’s York Theatre features the Festival centrepiece, Raven, a contemporary circus act from German circus collective still hungry, a company made up of acrobats Romy Seibt, Anke van Engelshoven, and Lena Ries. Raven is a show that presents the balancing act of being a mother and an artist. It explores the German concept of “Rabenmutter” (raven mother—a selfish, neglectful mother) with high-flying acrobatics. April 15th, the Festival opens with a performance from Juno-nominated artist, Jill Barber, who kicks things off as part of the tour for her new album Homemaker. May 11-14, wrapping the Festival, Amanda Sum presents her “part pop-up book, part performance”, New Age Attitudes: Live in Concert with Theatre Replacement.

May 3-6, another show bringing comedy to the festival is the dance show Body Parts from local choreographer Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg. Known for her unique style of performance, combining comedy and dance, Friedenberg’s Body Parts is a look at how body dysmorphia plays a role in how we all perform in society, while also a celebration of what our bodies can do. May 4-13, The Cultch offers something for those who love straight-up theatre with ?tszan (to make better), a story about Indigenous language reclamation created by Ucwalmicw artist Yvonne Wallace, and produced by Ruby Slippers Theatre. This play tells the story of a young women who starts to pursue language fluency when her auntie, who is at the end of her life, decides to stop speaking English.

Just got this in DM--someone from the Team saved screencaps of Susie Evans' IG stories, and LOOK what she posted on Sept. 26! The Four Seasons Hotel. 👇
Sam was seen in Scotland on Sept. 24. 👇
He's already looking pretty tanned there. So this may be AFTER the trip to Nevis. And Susie's IG story on Sept. 26 may have been a latergram. And then remember how on Sept. 28 a fan said she saw Sam with "his girlfriend" in Edinburgh? 👇
Here's my post about it 👇
Soooooo, thoughts?
Waking up to a ton of DMs and Anons alerting me to Sam Heughan posting an OBVIOUS LATERGRAM of him having vacationed on the island of Nevis. Thanks, Team, really appreciate you! Let's dive right in!
Earlier today, Sam posted this to his Instagram stories. It gives his location away, so it is FOR SURE a latergram, and he is no longer there. He would never let anyone know exactly where he is in real time. 👇
BUT, this pic didn't take itself and isn't a selfie from the back hahaha, and there is only ONE beach lounger next to him. Soooo, it's safe to say he wasn't alone and I can't imagine this wasn't a vacation with a lady friend. WHO is the question. 👇
He was very tanned when he pretaped the Kelly Clarkson Show, so he had already gone to Nevis when he taped this. 👇
Now remember when a couple of weeks ago I got this Anon saying they'd heard Sam was in the Bahamas and if "we see him with a nice tan," we'll know why? Look at the date of when I posted that--a couple of weeks ago. At the time, I thought the Anon was full of crap, but now I wonder if they did know something, but just got the wrong island. 👇
Nevis isn't the Bahamas but it's still an island, so maybe Anon just got the location wrong, but she did foreshadow him making an appearance with a tan. 👇
But Sam is no longer there because my longtime trusted source confirmed he was seen at JFK Airport on Oct. 22 headed to Edinburgh, like I posted a couple of days ago. 👇
And I added more info in this post. 👇
And then another Tumblr acct ALSO confirmed he'd been seen by an Instagram influencer at the airport lounge on the same date. The blogger left the comments in this post of mine. 👇
Here are the screencaps of the comments on someone other than my source ALSO stating Sam was at the airport on the same date--October 22, 2023. 👇
Soooooo, Sam went to Nevis a couple of weeks ago, with WHOM is the question. These are latergram pics for sure. And I got the source scoop that he flew from NY to Edinburgh on Oct. 22. He may not be there anymore but he was CONFIRMED heading there by my source and backed up by the IG influencer.
I'm running late for work, so please accept this as a blanket thanks to everyone who DMed me and I'll answer you individually when I get a break.
Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour It looks like this year will have a "Summer Renaissance" after all, because Beyoncé is finally taking her latest studio album on tour. For her first solo tour in six years, the pop and R&B queen unveiled the full list of cities she will be hitting around the world in support of her Grammy-nominated album, Renaissance. Kicking off with a European leg in May, the sprawling stadium tour is set to wind its way across North America this summer, hitting every major city along the way. The announcement comes a little over a week after Beyoncé performed at the opening of a luxury resort in Dubai, marking her first live show since 2020. While leaked footage from the show went viral on social media, the artist drew criticism for her decision to appear in Dubai given the United Arab Emirates' harsh laws targeting LGBTQ+ citizens. Beyoncé was allegedly paid $24 million for the performance but didn't play any material from Renaissance, which pays tribute to house music's queer history.Rumors that Beyoncé was set to take Renaissance on tour this summer first cropped up last fall when a ticket package went up for auction at the WACO Theater Center's 5th Annual Wearable Art Gala. The package, which featured first-class international flights on United, a three-night stay at a Marriott hotel and two tickets to the show plus a backstage tour with Beyoncé's mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, ended up selling for $150,000.Tickets are set to go on sale starting February 6 with an exclusive presale open to BeyHive members. Most likely looking to avoid the same headache that Swifties had to go through, Ticketmaster will be using their Verified Fan technology "to ensure more tickets get into the hands of concertgoers" per a press release. Ticketmaster is currently facing a lawsuit from fans and a Senate hearing over the Taylor Swift fiasco.Check out the full list of dates for the Renaissance World Tour below and head here to register to buy your tickets.
