Thinking abt Ace Attorney Social media HCs

Phoenix: Technologically illiterate, doesn’t really know what social media is or how to use it and refuses to learn because the longer he keeps up the bit the funnier it gets

Edgeworth: Doesn’t particularly care for social media, but found out about tumblr through Maya and now has an anonymous Steel Samurai account. His tagging system is meticulous and he has all notifications turned off. He treats it like he does office work. He and Maya are mutuals. Doesn’t have a personal account to speak of

Maya: Runs a semi-popular canon url pink princess and steel samurai fan tumblr. Also has a personal Instagram that’s mostly her eating burgers

Pearl: Didn’t have social media for a long time because of Morgan, but Maya introduced her and she has a very inactive private Instagram. She’s also in charge of the Kurain Village socials, which are very neat and professional

Mia: Was technologically illiterate and died before the social media boom was completely inescapable so nada

Diego: Socials weren’t as big before he fell into a coma and afterwards he doesn’t care too much about his image so he has nothing. HOWEVER, Maya started a twitter called “dead philosopher wisdom” that’s just random Diegoisms. He’s doing NUMBERS on there but is unaware of it because he doesn’t use twitter

Franziska: Knows how social media works because she needs it for her job but doesn’t use it very often. Her account has like 2 posts on it and she mostly uses it to keep track of targets and online paper trails

Kay: Runs an instagram account called “Edgeworth where he shouldn’t be” that’s nothing but silly and embarrassing candids of Edgeworth. Oldbag won’t stop messaging her asking who she is and how she’s getting these pictures

Apollo: Has a twitter with two followers that he uses to retweet and comment on legal academia news. He’s super active on all the law forums and legal advice columns and unfortunately has definitely posted on r/AskALawyer on mutliple occasions. His real claim to fame, though, is the anonymous Instagram he runs for his cat Mikeko. It’s called “The Pawsecutor’s Office” and he dresses up Mikeko like all the prosecutors (Miles Edgepurrth, Clawvier Gavin, Franziska Von Catma, etc) for photoshoots and silly skits. It’s wildly popular and Apollo would die if he were revealed to be behind it

Klavier: Super popular across all platforms and loves being silly online. If Edgeworth saw all the thirst traps he was posting he would prolly have a heart attack

Kristoph: Has a very minimal personal account for professional reasons but his REAL online footprint is the dozens of alternate accounts he uses to cyberstalk people and send his brother hate mail

Athena: Perfectly normal social media user. Has personal accounts that she posts to occasionally with cute photos of what she’s doing. The only person using it correctly

Trucy: Insanely popular on socials for her magic act. Knows how to market herself online better than anyone. She has a smaller personal account where she occasionally posts silly things about the WAA

Blackquill: Ran an edgy anime Tumblr for years before his incarceration and was posting on AO3 a lot. He comes back after his release explaining the break between chapters of his latest fanfiction was due to him being put on death row for seven years and continues posting normally with no mention of his prison sentence ever again. When he finally posts another AMV it’s a joyous day indeed

Ah, the very first concept-arts I've done for Deciphering, Edgie's and Nicky's outfits! Damn, it was a year 2022, holy cow. I say it, creating an outfit for Phoenix was waaay easier than for Edgeworth! Nick was supposed just to look casual and sporty as he is already disbared, but Edgie, ooooooh, I just wanted to get rid of his jabot, because it's tedious to draw every frame, but then I thought, hm, what if I'll look for a more interesting vest and damn, it turned into a whole journey into Victorian fashion for vests and cravats. By the way it's funny how I've never used this shade of blue of the Nick's hoodie in the comic x) It changes every single chapter! The same goes for his eye color as it's tied to the color of his hoodie x) Welp, the same goes for his face and hair too, especially in the beginning, as I was really struggling with both.

I was wondering how you think Manfred would handle Miles receiving all the letters from Phoenix throughout the years. I'm fairly certain it isn't mentioned in the anime, and I can't remember if maybe you've covered it in one of your fics. The only reason I think Manfred would make Miles throw them away is because he wanted Miles to get rid of his Signal Samurai charm, and also Miles never responded back to Phoenix (but several other things could have factored into that). Phoenix's letters may be a sentiment he doesn't want Miles to cling onto, or he may not care, as long as Miles remains unattached is kind of what I'm thinking?

phoenix never sent letters to miles. that is a headcanon.

i don't think manfred von karma cares about anything miles did or anyone he knew back before he came to live with him. why would he?

in the anime mvk just thought miles' keychain was a toy. he had no idea what the significance of it was. miles did not explain it to him. manfred von karma clearly has no reservations with pieces of miles' past in that canon because miles has a giant photo of gregory on his side table.

truly, i do not relate to the part of the aa fandom that thinks mvk did anything besides mentor and support miles as he found himself & his truth. miles edgeworth ignored phoenix's attempts to reach out because miles edgeworth is a traumatized orphan and a deeply complex individual. he ignored phoenix and left him behind because he wanted nothing to do with him anymore, because he did not think he deserved phoenix's kindness, and because he struggles to comprehend that he is loved and therefore mourned. these are all things we know about miles because these are all ideas he shows us in canon.

So, aside from Tumblr, if you are chronically online on Twitter as I am, you might have seen that one post about the little gingerbread man plushie being bought and then loved by the owner after being considered ugly. If, besides being chronically online on Tumblr and Twitter, you are specifically sailing aatwt waters you must have seen that post being reblogged with "Apollo Justice" being associated with the gingerbread man plushie. Now, hear me out. That plushie post is so real for Mr. Forehead. Because, as someone who has just finished 6-2, I can testify this is what can absolutely happen with Apollo Justice. Because we aren't all Klavier Gavin and so we might not be capable of speedrunning the Apollo Justice Love Parade faster than the smol gay man in Walking Mode on GoogleMaps, the first impression about Mr. Justice is usually "oooh, he is such a bug". Horned hair ― he chooses to have those ― that seem to have a life of their own, short, big forehead, loud suit and louder voice. A stag beetle, as he kins.

Then you start AA4 and you see him balancing being on the verge of a Breakdown Breakdown with competing for the Smuggest Lawyer Boy Ever award. So, average Ace Attorney experience, but you are intrigued and you are cheering. Gogo Bugus. This is the first stage and descent towards the "Apollo Scrimblo" phase.

You proceed through the Apollo Justice game and you get to see him more. You realize how unintentionally funny he can be. How his monologues are so sassy and mean they put Godot's bitterness of his coffee to shame. "I'm a lawyer, I live for needless procedures", "Try working on cases", "I am more concerned about the other criminal. The one who kills people." "Objection! That's… that's just dumb." "Well, hello Ms. Fancy Pants! Please forgive my lack of ladder discrimination." "Believe me, any comic relief I may provide is entirely unintentional". So, you inevitably start to love the guy, he is now your pookie. He is still Just A Guy but also a pookie and a short king. Then, there come the fanarts and fancontent. Now, feeling the Eyes Literally Open with fanarts (like @/u3pxx's Swapollo) was literally the phase I was at when that post of the plushie dropped. So much so that my comment on discord and twitter was "I get Game Apollo isn't exactly hot, but some fanarts are eye openers". And finally, after such fancontent phase, you continue playing and you start to notice more things. Small tangent, but I don't like the idea of most Ace Attorney men being called twinks (like, especially in the OG trilogy, y'all... Edgeworth is built like a fridge, and not a small hotel room one. No one would be able to measure his shoulders even with those Ikea Paper Measuring Tapes they gave out before either capitalism or a good choice for the environment took those away). There are some that can qualify (Simeon is one of them), but I digress.

And so you see: Apollo is no twink, he has damn good arms actually. Good built too, somehow. Red Suit is totally working. Those thoughts get enhanced once you see both his DLC costume and the Only Real Good Thing to come out of DD Apollo (aside from Clay actually, I would have loved him if there was more care in his writing, but I digress again-), aka the bandages and edgy look he, a bug that is going on an upgrade crusade, apparently pulls off. Also, let's remember Juniper. I love the Comp-het Lesbian Juniper HC, but I have an adoration for hitting the bi beam on my favs too, so think of Juniper and the fact you can gather she manifests a crush on Apollo in DD. Klavier, instead, has been down so bad he is bleeding on the floor. So, even in universe, the beetle is considered cute. From there... it's over. Once you reach 6-2 and see him grow more and more and inflict third-degree burns to Retinz and Nahyuta with each sentence, you have come to realize it. Apollo Justice is hot. Loving Ace Attorney Men is a disgrace.

Phoenix: cleric. 1000000% with his obsession with helping people? Absolutely wants to be the healer and the cleric spell list gives a lot of options for chaotic play.

Trucy: a coward would say sorcerer. They are wrong. She is a forever DM. Don't forget she isn't just a performer, she's also a stage director. Plus her desire to constantly cheer up her friends translates perfectly into campaign design. I think he has special effects set up and has Mr Hat come out for scenes with 2 NPCs

Apollo: there are two choices. Either he's never played before and is just a begrudging human fighter, or he and Clay used to play all the time and he comes in with the most insanely fleshed out well constructed min max multiclass you've ever seen. But it's not like an annoying minmax where it take away from the other players, it's min maxed in a way to cover the rest of the parties flaws and actively heighten them all. It is a solid 50/50 he either gives no shits or gives the most shits ever

Athena: barbarian. She is using this to get out her aggression and good for her.

Pearl: she's new at this and kinda nervous but I think she has a cute little elven druid made up. She was going to go cleric but didn't want to step on Phoenix's toes.

Maya: Sorcerer and an absolute powerhouse of one at that.

Ema: Wizard. Fully roleplays the whole scholar of magic vibe too.

Edgeworth: the most paladin paladin player to ever play. His character is mounted because of his knight chess thing and they start off heavily based off a steel samurai character but I think he then uses it to channel some of his feelings about mvk so he may well go oathbreaker somewhere down the line

Klavier: Do I need to say it? Bard. Horniest horny bard you ever saw. But I think he keeps it relatively pg for trucys NPC's and focuses his flirting solely on Apollo.

Simon: samurai fighter. Edgy backstory. Actively causes chaos at all times.

Franziska: is invite but doesn't play.

I have a silly headcannon that Maya and Edgeworth gave the shovel talk to each other... at the same day. They invited each other to a Steel Samurai marathon, Miles wrote his speech and memorized it the night before, Maya just ate burguers with Phoenix and decided to improvise.

They do it at Miles room because it's fancier and also cause both see it as a tatical advantage (Maya thinks intimidating Edgy at his own house adds extra intimidation points and Miles thinks that have the room makes the process of scarring Maya easier). After the first episodes when they have already a nice friendly flow going, the stop the show to order food and that's the moment. The get ready and both go "If you hurt Nick I'll kill you and make sure your spirit gets lost in a real bad place" and "If you harm my sister I can assure you, you'll wish you had simply be arrested in one of your false accusations" except they do it at the exact same time and so it sounds way more akward than either of them intended. They look at each other in a mutual understanding Fraziska and Phoenix would be fine, nod, go back to the marathon and never talk about it ever again.

Phoenix and Franziska never really had a shovel talk. They just met outside the courthouse once and Phoenix said "I should probably tell you that if you hurt Maya there will be consequences." Franziska sent him an offended look because she would never hurt Maya except Phoenix went "Except I don't really worry about it, you're clearly crazy for her and she is better taking care of herself than I am these days". That actually gave him a bit of respect from Fran (not that she will ever say that it did). Her answer was a "likewise I think you're too much of a lovesick fool to ever hurt Miles" and Phoenix was really happy because she always mentioned Edgeworth ominous letter and how she blamed Phoenix for it and he always felt guilt (even after Miles telling him it wasn't his fault) and to see her forgive him for that or even maybe state he did nothing wrong meant a lot. They also never talked about it but this time was because Franziska hates talking about feelings and Phoenix didn't want to destroy the relationship progress they made.

Beannix did give some shovel talks. Specially to Klavier. He is a dad now and as a dad this is now his new area and he is creeply good at it.

Reading your impressions made me happy i didn't buy investigations yet. Honestly also had been force fed a lot about how Investigations is the "BEST AA game evar" and how it makes Edgie shine and based on your impressions, it seems I may need to temper my expectations.

I really seem to be in the minority here, so perhaps if you do ever play it you will end up thinking I am wrong lol, but yeah personally I think all the years of "it's the BEST one and it totally explains everything about Edgeworth" are really adding insult to injury for me. I don't think it's the worst Ace Attorney game I've played, but it's pretty close to the bottom and it has yet to tell me anything about Edgeworth I didn't already glean from the trilogy in a more interesting way. I do think 2 strives to have personal stakes, which is a welcome change from the first game where everything was remote. But, well, ultimately I don't really think Yamazaki gets what made the original games' characters so beloved, and you get a funhouse mirror fanfic-y version instead, whittled down to one or two traits.

I think Edgeworth's at his blandest in the Investigations games despite being the lead. That he sometimes looks directly into the camera and explains the character development he had in the trilogy doesn't really change my opinion of that.

Investigationsworth is boringly well-adjusted, moral and emotionally invulnerable. They didn't even give him any sprites expressing any emotions besides smug, glare and neutral. Last summer a friend of mine ran a poll on Twitter that was every iteration (eg trilogy/anime/movie/stage/etc) of Nick vs every iteration of Edgeworth and The People voted AAIworth the best of everyone, which I found hard to believe at the time and unfathomable now lol.

Summary

THIS GAME WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. The setup throughout the whole trilogy was great, especially all within Trials and Tribulations. I love how bits and pieces of each case(or even large portions) had a ton of relevance to the final case. The characters were amazing and had great development, I loved playing as Mia and Edgeworth, that was such a delight, and im so glad we got to battle it out against Franziska as edgeworth. I love the other 2 games but the cohesiveness of the entire story within this game was spectacular. It truly reminded me of DGS 1&2 and why i love it so much. I really love how we also got to see young feenie, bratworth, and mia, the dialogue was especially entertaining. I cannot get over the twists and turns of the last case. I could never have predicted what was going to happen. I love complex mysteries like this, they're so entertaining but also im constantly thinking 'how do you even plan this all out?' The narumitsu in this game is so perfect too... omg. Incredible game , I absolutely loved it!

So, this is a chapter, though technically this story doesn't have chapters, where Nicky realised that even openly flirting with Edgeworth won't help him XD He rocks the boat, he makes Edgie get flustered and blush, he almost kissed him, but this silver-haired twink is too hard to crack. Or too dense, who knows. It's a main intrigue afterall x) But we are coming back for a murder case and are getting closer Nicky's nightmare. But not only that. We'll see the flashback when he realised he fell in love with his best friend. Golly, it will be fun x)
