As far back as he can remember, Django has always had a certain fondness when it came to learning the ways in which someone did their job. This possibly stems from the various talks he's had with many of his father's friends over how their business would operate. Now, was any of this appropriate for a child his age to learn? Probably not. But it did spark an insatiable curiosity in him for all manner of things. Whether they be one's profession, the way a device works, and whatever else he could fit in that funny little noggin of his.
Which brings us to today as Django happily explains to a soon-to-be contemporary of his just how how exactly retail in the modern day operates.
" And this right here is the program I use t' keep track of customers, their orders, and basically anything else that might be important. Think of it like bookkeeping, only you're using a computer and not some book that's as big as a tome. "

⠀⠀⠀⠀"— Hoooh?" The young mage has made a curious observation, a claim of... familiarity, so to speak. To the King of Heroes, the young woman is just another mongrel worth minor notice... but admittedly, her mage potential is a few marks above most others. However— there seems to be a chance that this is not a first meeting on her end.
⠀⠀⠀⠀"If you believe you have caught a glimpse of my glory once before, do tell. I will humor you, for a short while."

⠀⠀⠀⠀"You ask an awful lot of questions about the naval activities of this island, mademoiselle." It isn't uncommon for the occasional new arrival to have past experiences with the sea. Even then, the Count has little interest in speaking with such individuals regardless of any potential share interests. But this one is different— another Mage in the same vein as those of his realm. And judging by the style of her clothes, she certainly isn't one of the modern era. Just by studying the materials of her clothes and the fashion itself, she may even come from a time period before his own... It's enough for the Count to consider striking up conversation, at least.

⠀⠀⠀⠀"Geez, aren't you burning up in all that?" He gestures to the giant coat and hat of the mage before him, a look of disbelief at the insistence on display. Just looking at the getup makes Rider want to sweat a little, it just seems like a recipe for disaster. "The days are only gonna get hotter from here on, you really should consider trimming down the gear for a while."

she's been staring for the last half hour and yes, Olga Marie is aware of this. and yes, doing so could be considered rude by just about everyone but the societal demands of humanity hardly mattered to her much, nor did she really care if this woman thought otherwise.
" Did those hurt?" is how she breaks the silence, a hand raised to point at the tattoos running up the length of her leg.

" Sorry, but I'm pretty sure I'd remember a cutie like you if we met before. I'm pretty good with remembering the people I've met!" a product of her unique circumstances and one that came in handy. it's how she's sure she's never seen the mage before in her life but there's no hint of worry or suspicion at the other.
" This place does have a habit of making people's memories all funky, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maybe I'll remember in the future but for now, we can treat this as a new first meeting, alright?"

"Indeed..."
"And if I may add, you've given me a very positive first impression, Your fashion is very..." There's some hesitation as she thinks of what would be an appropriate word to describe her before finally settling on, "Bold, in a word. I don't think it'd necessarily suit me...but it definitely suits you."
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀Certainly, you should ! After all, clothes are part of anyone's first impression of you. You may as well have some say in the message they convey, no ? And from a less practical standpoint... the process of replenishing one's wardrobe is far more enjoyable when you have nothing but pieces that appeal to you.⠀ ❜ ⠀
#edelbloed#she's waving at both of us on the shoreline atp#maybe one day we'll be allowed on her yacht...

Holmes instantly go though his own mind palace. He might not have a instant knowledge of some stuff. But he do pride himself in his general knowledge since Watson first story publish on him about him not knowing the basics.
The key words are....Coyett, english noble, the fashion, history....
Huh....200 years apart almost. Fedrik was active around late 1600 ish while Holmes is a late 1800 man.
Then again with the lostbelts and all the pruned timelines it's often hard to tell. Holmes will refrain from saying to much except being polite.
"I was not aware Fedrik Coyett have a daughter. Follow me my lady. I know of a place in Golden Ward where the quality will not disappoint you and to answer your question....i find the caffeine help simulate the mind much easier with coffee. With how easily rain and fog being a common occurrence in certain parts of London. I do still enjoy tea...but coffee help easier when you have to sort out paper work at the dead of the night."
Or dumpster dive to obtain evidence. Holmes DO need to sleep but crime often do not. So many cups of coffee in his youth....
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀Another Servant ? And a very forthcoming one at that. Goodness, this island really does function on an entirely different level.⠀ ❜ ⠀AN ⠀Englishman by his own admission... Well, Dorothea could certainly parse that much herself. His demeanor was precisely what one would expect of the upper class — or perhaps more accurately, those that are used to dealing with the upper class. It confirms her suspicion that their eras must not be so far apart. Naturally, she reaches two fingers up to tip her hat with a slight bow of the head. ⠀❛ ⠀Dorothea Coyett. Lady Dorothea will suit me just fine.⠀ ❜ ⠀
⠀⠀⠀So it seems the information she's received thus far has indeed been accurate. This island draws a great many entities together, Servants included, but without any apparent ritual to enlist their aid in. That isn't to say conflict doesn't entirely exist... but it would likely be some time before she could confirm that much. For now, she should focus on the crisis at hand — he asked her a question in kind, after all.
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀The taste is of greater importance. As far as I'm concerned, any disastrous affair can be endured when there's delicious food and drink nearby. Although I must admit, if an Englishman can put coffee before tea... Well— color me intrigued. It would have to be divine.⠀ ❜ ⠀
#edelbloed#drink responsibly everyone.#Yes Holmes gonna pay for the food and drinks. He a gentleman after all.

⠀⠀⠀⠀"So, another party? Hmm..." He's not sure if he'll go, but— maybe a quick stop by will do? ... Oh right, the noble girl— "Sorry about that, little lady— glad you're so understanding. ... You thinking about going there? Seems to be more fitting for you, less for me."
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀How fortunate that you're so tall.⠀ ❜ ⠀SHE ⠀taps her foot idly as he takes his sweet time, tilting her head just enough for her hat to angle out of his way ( but not so far that the 'decorative' blades weren't a sneeze away from his jawline ). ⠀❛ ⠀I shall pardon you. This time.⠀ ❜ ⠀

" Oho, why thank you~! It isn't something just about anybody could do!" to say the compliment lifted her spirits would be a sore understatement. that usual smile widens as she does a half-curtsy, fingers grasping the edges of the dress to better display the skirt portion. " Custom-made, actually! I know someone and they were quick to deliver for the occasion. "
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀That fabric — it isn't easy to make such high-quality material look quite that breezy.⠀ ❜ ⠀HER ⠀eyes were automatically drawn to the striking shade of blue, and she finds it difficult to train them back on the woman's face — although her features are striking in their own right. ⠀❛ ⠀The color almost exactly matches your eyes. Tell me, was it custom-made ?⠀ ❜ ⠀

The Netwalk is, to this day, something of a...vexing place for her. She still doesn't know how to feel about it--it's good to know that the Netpups are a strange, yet natural occurrence rather than the product of horrific experimentation she had thought them to be, but they're still...disconcerting. Besides them, though, it really is a beautiful place, blooming with nature along the provided trails.
She doesn't have much of an eye for gardening herself, but she can at least still appreciate the work that's gone into maintaining these little patches of flora. Much, it seems, like this human woman nearby; Barghest turns her way in response to her question.
"I...suppose it would more be the flora, now that I know the Netpups aren't being harmed." She glances back towards a passing Netpup, still fairly evidently concerned about it, before turning her attention back to the woman. If Barghest had to guess, she would peg this woman for nobility--more for the eccentric dress than anything else. "I simply have an appreciation for the natural world."
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀These remind me of the gardens at my father's estate.⠀ ❜ ⠀ALTHOUGH ⠀tempting, Dorothea knows better than to cradle the delicate blossoms that line the park's pathways. She settles for crouching down closer to their level, her latticed hat sprinkling sunlight despite its temporary shade. ⠀❛ ⠀They seem very well cared-for. I wonder if they're being given any extra food, or if they're just in an ideal spot... ?⠀ ❜
⠀⠀⠀A much taller, broader shadow is cast not too far from her own, and she turns back to offer a genteel smile.⠀⠀❛ ⠀Are you here for the flora, or for these 'Netpups' I've heard about ?⠀ ❜ ⠀

"I've only ever been taught to be modest in what I wear, so I'm not familiar with the sentiment. Maybe it'd do me well to at least try to learn...it seems worth it when you put it like that."
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀On the contrary, I find choice to be of the utmost importance when it comes to fashion. You may use your wardrobe to express all sorts of things —much like flowers, the colors and patterns can speak their own language.⠀ ❜ ⠀

⠀⠀A moment of silence is allowed to settle in, a brief permission by the king's grace. Her words are worth mulling over in this moment, the way she rationalizes her choices in this tale of hers... Frankly, it's a little surprising that he has retained interest for so long. And it's not like the human mage has shattered any and all expectations he may have had of her... But even so, there is a laugh— not a lengthy one, but still one full of amusement. And once it ends, he takes a quick breath before giving voice to his thoughts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀"Ahhh— I will admit, my knowledge of mages long after my time is not up to par, nor is it a field I have a particular interest in. What I do recall is a common, boorish interest in trivial matters. Not only that, many would gladly cut down countless lives for such selfish goals, all in spite of progress to humanity and civilization. So, at the very least— you are somewhat more interesting than the common mage."
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀Fragile ? Never.⠀ ❜ ⠀DOROTHEA'S ⠀brows shoot upward, disappearing beneath her latticed hat — sincerely astonished at the very thought. Death is something inevitable for most mages, something they have no choice but to think about if they ever intend to pass their legacy on. The first step in the pursuit of knowledge is, for most, acknowledging that they themselves are stepping stones for their descendants; they must learn all they can, absorb all they can, and transcribe it for the next generation. All this is to say that even more than the average human, death is to be both acknowledged and prepared for by any half-decent mage— but one shudders at the thought of meeting it too early.
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀Anyone who welcomes death is a fool. After all, we're never done learning, so one is never truly done living. However... the cornerstone of that nobility you mentioned is a noble's obligation. A noble must extend that nobility, that privilege, to ensure the wellbeing of those less fortunate. I can think of no one so unfortunate as those caught up in a ritual among Mystics — the very concept they should be shielded from. So to put them at further risk on account of my own shortcomings... that's unacceptable to me.⠀ ❜ ⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀"A galleon... Hmm— that would certainly be too much firepower for the scale of our sailing expeditions." He briefly shook his head at the thought— while that certainly would fit the needs of this noble mage, Monsieur Morrel never required such a grand ship for what was needed. "The Pharaon was a three-master trading ship, and the one I was most familiar with. It would certainly be a rather humble vessel compared to what you would have had at your disposal."
⠀⠀Such a peculiar sense of nostalgia, almost foreign to the Avenger at this point. He can't recall the last time he spoke at length of those bygone days with someone that knew the trade— and he can't say it's been unpleasant so far.
⠀⠀⠀❛ ⠀Both of them ? You continue to impress— both in experience and deduction.⠀ ❜ ⠀SHE ⠀must admit, there's a mild swelling of excitement and pride— it feels as though it's been ages since she could converse with someone closer to her lexicon, her context. ⠀❛ ⠀You are correct. In fact, I was still in Japan when I found myself in this place... It was my first time traveling that far, admittedly. It seems we kept ourselves busy on opposite ends of the earth, Monsieur. I'd be curious to know what manner of vessel you preferred— a galleon was ideal for my needs at the time, but it certainly had its drawbacks.⠀ ❜ ⠀
