I was tagged by @eddiediass who was mean, very mean, and since I believe in fighting fire with fire...

“Hi.” Eddie smiles at him, that beautiful smile, the one that makes Buck ache down to every last inch of marrow in his bones.

He thought he wouldn’t ever see it again.

“H-hi,” he stutters out. He can feel the corner of his mouth curling up in a dopey grin, and he knows he probably looks like a lunatic, his pupils trying to turn into hearts, but he doesn’t care.

It’s Eddie. Eddie is here, Eddie is alive, Eddie—

“It’s nice to meet you.” Eddie sticks his hand out. “I’m Eddie Diaz, you must be Buck, right? Your captain was telling me about you.”

Everything comes crashing down around him and he swears he feels the earth crack under his feet. Eddie…

hey neethu! I’m curious to know what your favorite scenes were to gif? Does it have to do with the composition of the scene? Or the contents? Or both? Would love to hear your process!

hi! my favorite scenes are always those that are important for the character and/or dynamic, and at the same time have good lighting, with the characters in frame, and minimal panning. of course, it's very hard to get all of these aspects in one—there are very few scenes that check all these boxes. some that immediately come to mind, which i frequently use while making gifsets to lyrics/poetry/quotes are: everything before, during and after the 'no one i trust more' scene, the will reveal, madney's kiss in 2x18, henren's vow renewal, buck and eddie's hug in 2x18, etc. all these scenes are great in that they have amazing lighting (for both coloring and blending), they are important moments for the characters involved, and they're just easy to gif, in general. most of the time, though, i can't afford to be picky. take eddie's breakdown—it's one of my favorite scenes of s5, but it has the worst lighting, it is just so grainy, but i use it often in my gifsets anyway. so the content of the scene will always take precedence for me. i try to put thought into making my lyric or quote gifsets, i always want the scenes i use to match up with the words and give them meaning, so i avoid choosing moments based on aesthetic alone. so, if i was giffing, and a particular lyric was suited to, say, the lightning strike; i'd grumble about having to color that scene but i would ultimately use it lmao. always love it when the scene is aesthetically pleasing as well as a vital moment for character development, but that rarely happens!

i hope that answers your question, and that it wasn't too rambly 🙈 my process for gifmaking is all over the place and i always feel like i sound a tiny bit unhinged while trying to explain it

it takes less than 5 minutes to search somebody's blog and i urge everybody to do that because the slaughter of palestinians at the hands of zionists is not something we should be taking lightly. cutting off zionists in this fandom + others is the least we can do. quality fic and art and meta are not worth the deaths of 30k+ people.

also. say their names. vague-posting and turning people into hoot owls when they start asking who/what is just making more trouble for no reason and waters down the severity of the situation.

There’s a woman standing on his doorstep. She has thick dark hair spilling over her shoulders, and a soft face with big dark eyes. She has long lashes, and something about that—and the shape of her cheeks, her chin—

He feels like he’s seen her. Or some version of her. But at the same time, he’s never seen her before in his life.

“Can I help you?” he asks, because it’s seven in the morning and this is one of the few mornings he can sleep in and doesn’t have to bundle his kid off to school.

“Where is he,” the woman says. She’s clutching something in her hand—a rock?

“Who?”

The woman shoves past him. “Where is he! Where’s my brother? Where’s Buck?”

Eddie grabs her wrist. “Wait—did you say Buck?”

The woman looks back at him, her eyes blazing and jaw set. “Yes. Buck, my brother. He’s in this house. Where is he?”

Eddie stares at her, slack-jawed, because—this can’t be. “You’re Maddie?”

Her face crumples. “Yes. Yes. You know Buck?”

Yeah. He knows Buck. He knows Buck like he knows every scar on his chest. “Yeah.”

Maddie’s voice cracks. “Is he here?”

Eddie swallows. “You might want to sit down.”

Here's a little something I started today (it's all April's fault) and I'll probably have it finished either tonight or tomorrow, so let me know if you wanna be tagged when it's posted!

So, he’s not entirely sure what his newfound realization means for him and Shannon. He loved her, he absolutely loved her, and he’s gay. Those are two things that can and do co-exist, which is something he’s been working on for months with Frank. Him realizing he is undoubtedly very into men does not negate what he had with Shannon.

And, look, he knows he doesn’t have to explain that all to Buck. He can simply say I’m gay and Buck will smile and tell Eddie he’s proud and probably pull him into a bear hug that Eddie will sink into with a sigh and leave it at that.

But he wants to tell Buck. He wants Buck to know all the complicated tiny details that make up Eddie Diaz. He wants to share every part of himself with Buck because he knows the other man will never judge Eddie and that he will cradle the fractured shiny and dull pieces Eddie gives to him in his strong, gentle hands like they are precious and never let them fall to the ground again.

No one has or ever will protect Eddie like Buck. Eddie has never felt so safe and secure with another person before, and yes, Eddie is well aware that it’s because he’s in love with Buck, but it’s not the whole reason. Buck is just–he’s so fucking good and beautiful and the best friend he has ever had in his life. Even if Eddie wasn’t in love with him, he would feel like this, he’s sure.

And besides, Eddie being gay isn’t about Buck.

“I think I might be bad in bed.”

Eddie does not drop the pan that he’s scrubbing and instead sets it down gently in the sink, taking the time to dry his hands before turning to face Buck where he’s sitting at the table. He also carefully schools his expression as he takes in Buck’s—distressed and confused, like something fundamental to his worldview has shifted. With someone else, in a different circumstance, it might be funny—it still is a little, but with an undercurrent that suggests a certain amount of delicacy may be required.

“You’re still thinking about that call?” Eddie asks, leaning against the counter.

Buck shrugs.

“I just—” he blows out a breath and rakes a hand through his hair. “That guy and his wife…seemed like they’d been married for awhile but he was still worried that he wasn’t any good, and then in trying so hard to do better he just made it so much worse, you know? And I guess I—I don’t know. I’ve had a lot of sex where I’ve never really thought about it, where I just assumed I was doing everything right, and then I’ve had other times where I’ve pulled out all the stops trying to be perfect, but now I’m looking back and wondering if I was actually…pretty bad at a lot of it. And maybe wondering at least a little if it was even good for me let alone whoever I was with.”

Eddie rolls that thought around in his head, trying to decide the best way to respond, weighing the options of what Buck needs to hear versus how to say it.  It’s not a conversation he wants to be having, is part of the problem. Thinking about Buck desperately seeking connection through fleeting sexual encounters with strangers already makes him swallow back a wave of petty jealousy and possessiveness. But there’s an added level of insult to injury to the idea that Buck wasn’t even having good sex. Which maybe explains why despite his initial commitment to delicacy and tact, what comes out of Eddie’s mouth is—

“You probably were. Bad at it.”

Buck’s eyes widen, a strangled noise sounding from his throat.

“Well shit, don’t pull any punches,” he shoots back as he hunches in the chair and drains the last dregs of his beer.

“I didn’t mean it like that,” Eddie says, pushing off the counter to pull out another chair from the table. “Look, it’s—”

He sighs.

“Would you relax? I don’t think I’ve ever danced with anyone as tense as you are,” Buck laughed quietly and Eddie huffed and rolled his eyes at him. "I always sucked at this, and you're not wearing a dress with a big skirt to hide when I screw up." "Shannon did that?" "All the time," he said with a deprecating grin. "The army didn't exactly teach us to waltz. There were a lot of mistakes to cover." His eyes kept darting around the room, checking for anyone watching them. "Nothing too bad though, right?” Buck dipped his head to the side to catch Eddie’s gaze and get it back on him, off of the people occasionally glancing at them. “I mean, I never heard about anything." Eddie tipped his head back and forth, debating. "Depends on what you consider bad." Buck screwed up his face, both pretending to think and actually wincing at the memory he was about to share. "Sleeping with an ambassador's daughter?" Eddie's eyebrows shot up. "And then his son?" He was pretty sure that was the one that got him sent off to do charity abroad the first time, which worked out for him in the end, so he couldn’t feel too bad about it, looking back. They were both lovely people and kept in touch for a while after.  "Definitely nothing like that," Eddie laughed. "I was thinking more along the lines of slipping in my dress shoes.” "Then I think you'll be fine," Buck said through a grin, wishing he could’ve seen that. "And if things really go south, I can always kiss a dutchess." Eddie snorted. "I didn't think I was doing that bad." "You've stepped on my foot three times." "You keep trying to lead!" "That's how I was taught!" "Me too!"

And then I have this...thing? started, but once I got to the arms I realized things fit strangely, so we'll see if it goes anywhere. A downside to not planning anything and starting with faces.

Don't ask me where it's going because I certainly don't know.
