Granny Goodness

The New God known as Granny Goodness appeared and often acted like a kindly older woman, a grandmotherly figure… In truth she was a cruel and sadistic warrior and a chief lieutenant in Darkseid’s forces of Apokolips. 

Her ‘orphanage’ was located in the Armagetto on Apokolips where she trained the armies of Darkseid through torturous indoctrination.  A preferred tactic was the use of the dreaded ‘X-Pit’ an inescapable citadel where subjects were broken of spirit and remolded to have unquestioning loyalty to Darkseid.  Granny’s top students were promoted to the Female Furies, an elite team of woman warriors utilized for specialized operations.  

Despite her best efforts, Granny was unable to break Highfather’s son, Scott Free, who had been gifted to Darkseid as part of a peace treaty.  Scott’s resistance to Granny and his eventual escape were her greatest failure and she fell out of favor with her lord Darkseid. 

Granny was given the opportunity to redeem herself when she abducted Superman’s cousin, Kara of Argo, and tried to twist her into an agent of Apokolips.  Yet once more Granny failed and a disappointed Darkseid sent her away to be tortured by her own team of Furies.  

Following Darkseid’s death, Apokolips fell into civil war.  Granny amassed an army to seize control of the world facing off against another army raised by the Baron, Virman Vundabar.

Vundabar had taken over the X-Pit where he held Kalibak prisoner.  As the son and heir to Darkseid, Kalibak had become a powerful pawn and Granny schemed to free him and thus turn the tide of her war with Vundabar.  Scott Free was the only individual to ever escape the X-Pit and Granny extorted him into breaking in and freeing Kalibak by taking Scott’s dear fried, Oberon, as a hostage.  

With the aid of The Flash and J’onn J’onzz, Scott and his wife Barda were able to succeed in freeing Kalibak and thus rescuing Oberon.  And yet Scott bested Granny once more, tricking her and recovering Oberon while Kalibak was absconded to a prison on Earth.  Without Kalibak, the forces of Granny and Vundabar remained in a stalemate and the civil war raged on until Darkseid’s eventual return.  

The indomitable Ed Asner provided the voice for Granny Goodness with he villainous New God first appearing in the twenty-fifth episodes of the second season of Superman: The Animated Series, ‘Apocalips… Now! Part I.’

Edward Asner

Physique: Stocky Build/Heavyset Height: 5"7" (1.70 m)

Eddie Asner (November 15, 1929 – August 29, 2021), professionally known as Edward Asner, was an American actor and former president of the Screen Actors Guild. He is best remembered for portraying Lou Grant during the 1970s and early 1980s, on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Lou Grant, making him one of the few television actors to portray the same character in both a comedy and a drama. He is the most awarded male performer in Emmy history with seven wins, five of them for playing Grant. Asner died on August 29, 2021 at the age of 91.

A television legend, seven time Emmy winner and bear icon, it wasn't until 1993 when I saw him in a rerun of a TV movie called The Family Man that I first took notice of him. He was stout, hairy, masculine and so fuckin sexy. In my mind everything a man should be and an excellent addition to my spank bank. And over the years, Asner's prolific and much honored acting career demonstrates a consummate ability to transcend the line between one of U.S. television's most acclaimed and most controversial actors to unlikely sex symbol.

And I'm sure Asner had been clued into his own furry attractiveness by more than one admirer and was probably comfortable with the idea of being lusted after by other men.

With that being said, He was married twice and had four children, two daughters and a son from his first marriage; and a son from a relationship with Carol Jean Vogelman. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, appearing in plays put on for the troops as they toured around Europe. Asner has established himself as one of the most legendary actors alive over the course of his sixty-year career, all while serving in eclectic leadership roles and campaigning for charitable causes.
