7. Realistically speaking, they would not be able to keep the child safe for a week. Because as much as they love children, they have a big target on their back currently and having a child means that they are risking that child's life and they won't be able to live with that guilt :D

Everything else is easy to take care of because he grew up with animals and plants and they love them very much.

12. Something that they think is normal and neighbors think it's weird as hell? Honestly probably talking to the ghosties in the neighborhood. For them it makes sense, they've been interacting with them their whole life. Outside of that though? The guy looks like he is cracked out and/or psychotic talking to thin fucking air.

It's sleepy mimis time, but I would really like to answer these before my typing skills become too incoherent:

They would emotionally never recover I think. They would sit and read the whole SAT prep book, cram an all nighter, pull up the next morning with those hydro-flasks filled with ice, redbulls, and at least 3 shots of blond espresso to keep themselves awake enough to take the test. After the test, they would literally collapse the in the closest thing resembling grass and cry for a solid 5 minutes before being plagued by the night terrors of this test.

Academically I think they would do fine. Not completely bomb the test, but isn't a gifted child. Like probably a 900-1100 range (idk what the range is like now, but when I was in hs this was the average)

TLDR: They can cook, they love(d) food, but cooking is a group thing

They love food in this house! Like damn!

They are not that great of a cook tho. Like will they burn the kitchen sort of bad? Naw they aint like that, but like they know how to but are too lazy to cook by themselves. Or does it make them feel sad and melancholy? Probably the latter tbh considering that they enjoy cooking the most when they help and prepping/making food is a group affair.

I feel like before his dead status, they were more active in the preparation of food because it was like duh i can get a sneak of a crumb here and there, but since their transformation, food has become a symbolic thing, and they aren't one to refuse a plate (considered rude if you do was how they were raised)

Anyways, they love making anything that requires alot of prep stuff because it's mechanical work that they don't really have to think abt doing but rather just do the thing

Sometimes I sit here, vibing, when I start thinking of all the sayings and old-timey quotes Ecstal's parents would have told them when they are young, and then it hits me at full force.

And I have one that hits different and would be in theme with their parents.

And then sometimes I listen to the Spanish pop songs to grab more inspiration. And then suddenly I have like 20 of them

Which kinda sucks ngl cause the lyrics lose a little bit of their meaning in translation but damn they hit deep (Like for example "Even grey skies are a part of paradise.")

Mourning rituals (According to Ecstal Soydere [actually Beauformont-Flores])

Now that I’ve had some time to think about it, and basing it off of an old post I’ve already kind of fleshed out but here is more. TW: grief process, mourning, child death mention, family death mention. Please also let me know what else I should tag in this please

Mourning rituals for Ecstal and the tribe he was raised in is a little mix of somber and sad but also a celebration of life. Like a mix of Viking rituals and Hobbit feasts.

It starts off with the celebration of food, and the tales regaled about the person in question. All stories, both big and small, every little moment that left an impact on someone was told. It is also around this time that the closest people to the deceased would take their time to dress the body in preferred clothes and things that would typically symbolize their family; the trinkets would accumulate as there are many people who belonged to their family (including their spouse, children, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc) as the body lays to rest on a pyre in the middle of the tribe’s meeting area

When that was done, it leads to the singing. The first mourning hymn is low, fueled by the deepest singers as this would be the very thing that would start the energy transfer from what they believed would be from the body into the afterlife. The next hymn would include the treble and alto singers, a symbol of the raising of the person’s spirit. Soprano’s would follow last as the end of the second hymn and would continue to harmonize as the chosen person lights a long stick. This is when the tribe falls silent and the chosen person lights the pyre the body is laying on and starts the first verse before the rest of the family (by marriage, birth, and/or chosen) sings the mourning song they have written together. This whole celebration/ritual could last anywhere between 4 days to two weeks, the time dependent on where on the social ladder they landed on as well as if multiple people died at the same time due to an unfortunate accident.

The mourning of children is much different. The family of the child in question would mourn for them in silence, there is no large feast, but keeps those who were close to the child in the loop of the mourning process. Each family mourns a child differently, and it is up to the discretion of the family to mourn for them. It is knows to the village that a child has based, but it is a social taboo to speak the dead child’s name three months after the child has based.

Everyone asks me (those who are fortunate enough to know abt Noorn outside of tumblr dot com specifically) why Ecstal is so secretive about so many things. I will give you a list:

They are a mercenary first and foremost. The less you know about them the better off everyone is.

They are also very slow to trust. They do alot of white lies and half truths to spin the narrative in case that if anyone were to try and get back at them there would be no way of knowing what is true and what is a lie.

Trauma and lots of it. The people they loved and cherished (most with very good intention in their hearts which is something Ecstal can understand now that they are older) more or less turned away when they needed them the most

The longer the campaign has dragged on, the more mixed signals they getting from the group. Are they safe to trust? It's only been a couple of weeks, a month at most, and everything that has happened since this little adventure began is overwhelming.

The fear of what people know about them is high. Not because they are people pleaser, but rather what bad shit they can do with that info. They could blackmail their family and the only way for Ecstal to bring them out safe and sound is to turn themselves into the guards and face the consequences.

Also part of them they don't want other people that they cherish to suffer because of Ecstal's own dumb actions.

Its fun as a player to hide things from others actually. It keeps everyone on their toes...

Idiot’s Guide for What to Look for when Ecstal is Undoubtedly and Uselessly in Love

Hello yes I bring the Being in Love for Dummies 101. I can make a part 2 if it’s requested, in which yours truly will do a little bit of a deep dive into Ecstal once they are dating/in a relationship with someone. Feel free to send asks if you have a question about any of these btw! (everything under the cut to avoid taking up alot of dash space.) 

Catch them glancing at the token of their affection whenever they get the chance. Like magpie looking for a sparkling tinsel, if the token of their affection is in the corner of their eye, their eyes can’t help but hold onto that image for a little while longer before going back to whatever they are doing

They will also start keeping in mind the little knicknacks that they think the person will like. If they notice they have a specific theme they like they start looking for similar things to start either buying them, stealing them, or making one.

That are also a big fond of physical affection. A little bit of it, they are an idiot and don’t really know how romancing works, but they are a big fond of physical affection. Hand holding, snuggling, arm linking, ya know the regular stuff (the lines of physical affection are blurred between romantic and platonic love though because they think it’s just normal for friends to hold/link hands, to take naps together, etc)

Growing up with 2 bards in the family, Ecstal will start singing and humming to themselves the songs that they saw their dad sing to their papa while doing chores around the house. All of the songs following a similar theme in their lyrics with “regardless of who you are, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, both in life and beyond; you are my life, my love, my one.” And tbh it doesn’t get more romantic than that in their eyes. 

They aren’t one to say they love someone outright. They would rather help around the house, cook and clean, play nurse when someone is sick (physically and/or mentally), being someone to comfort someone in the worst of times, molding themselves to best suit the needs of their partner (though standing on equal terms obvs). 

And if someone else points it out? Ecstal denies everything, saying things like “I don’t think that I’m in love, they’re just a very good friend” or a personal favorite being “If I were to be in love, don’t you think I would have done something about it?” heavily relying on the fact that the person would believe them since Ecstal is always the one to be like ‘let’s get this done’.

After all, considering how their relationship to Azerban and the trauma that came with that, they feel like they are undeserving of love, romantic or otherwise. But they are working through it, they were working through it with Azeron and Resitho before meeting up with the Cryptid Crew. The Cryptid Crew had opened up old wounds they weren’t even aware hadn’t healed yet.

He looks sick and gaunt but that's okay cause plot reasons

I've inverted his cape so now the red is on the outside and the purple on the inside UwU

Just the paper sketch took like 4 days to complete because the face and the left extremities look too long to make them look right

I am aware they look a little funny but I can't bring myself to fix it T.T
