the buffalo sabres truly get me, this is the content of my dreams. i love hockey players wearing prep jerseys, and getting to watch them pick one out is such a delight. “i’m wearing st. joe’s because it’s extra large,” says the big dog with great pride. “the seagull’s jacked!” exclaims honey bunches of jost.

my whole world opened up when i told my therapist about eddie and why i loved him. she asked “liv, what does he give to you?” and she made me sit and think about it in a way i hadn’t really thought about it before. after a few moments i told her, “i guess he makes me feel free. he makes me like the whole world is open for me and that i can do anything. when i imagine myself with him, i imagine my most authentic self and i imagine him supporting me as my most authentic self. i am reminded that i do not have to be perfect or good in order to be loved.” and she smiled and said, “yeah. yeah. because that’s what you need right now.” and that my fantasies are like food cravings, telling me what my body is deficient in, and that shipping with eddie, shipping with all of these characters, is my body’s way of fulfilling those needs. of telling myself what i need to hear and giving myself the love and the affection and the support that i’ve needed. and there’s something so magical to me about the fact that i did it all without knowing. i thought i self shipped for fun. for entertainment. but my brain and my body knew what i didn’t know, knew how to heal me and help me grow and this whole time i’ve been subconsciously trying to keep myself alive and strong and happy without even really thinking about it.

ive been playing a lot of pokemon-like games lately to search for something new to fill the void of the desire to collect creatures... so many games show so much promise but there's always something holding them back. it's usually just like one thing and i cant get too mad bc a lot of them are either extremely inexpensive or outright free. but it sucks to be playing a game thats otherwise solid only for it to suck bc like, the writing is abysmal or the gameplay loop is miserable. the most egregious thing ive encountered in a lot of these games is the lack of a robust bestiary. like thats the main reason i played pokemon and stuck with it, when prof rowan asked me to research for him i took that seriously 😭 i want to know abt the animals please for the love of god give me a description, a habitat range some fun facts. please
#strato.txt#i got spoiled to gen IV dex w/ footprints and the height and weight scale and the cry remixer and form differences..#when they took away footprints i sobbed cried and screamed. i was like WHERE ARE THEIR LITTLE PAWS....#maybe its cause i associated footprints w/ that guy who gives you a ribbon if your friendship is maxed out#cause he reads how much ur pokemon love you by the way they leave footprints in the sand... sigh#anyways. the scale for showing u how much pokemon weighed was cool too. how it launched dawn/lucas if the pokemon was heavy enough#i just really. REALLY want to feel like a field researcher that was always so important to me as a kid. going out and learning and growing#the villainous team is just a roadblock. and obstacle in my path to learn and see the world#i feel like gamefreak has shifted from learning as a narrative to coming of age and saving the world as a narrative. im sick of it tbh#is that what kids want these days. when i was a kid i wanted to be an astronaut and a paleontologist#so many games are getting the 'whoa cool beast' thing down. theyre the tyrannosaurus lovers. they like the cool animal and its evolution#but theyre neglecting like... the nature part? the part where the animal clicks in with the world. where its part of the ecosystem#they know that trex is cool and huge but not that it lived in a subtropical climate dominated by angiosperms.#the pokemon co and gamefreak have gone to great lengths to make pokemon feel REAL#they exist in their environments and shape them and interact with each other. many prey on each other#pokemon inhabit certain regions of the world bc thats their /ecosystem/. theyre not just randomly placed...#oh my god. i have more to say but im stopping here. im stopping

About to go to sleep, but I'm remembering Wilbur's pond water jars- his closed ecosystems.
And... I can so make that g/t.
Maybe he takes a scoop of pond or ocean water and accidentally jars an itty-bitty mer or frog tiny. He's already taken the jar home with him, but hasn't sealed it up yet luckily. He sets up a tank for them to live in. Instead of a cool new jar ecosystem, he gets a cool new tiny friend!
Maybe he knows exactly what he's doing... But he's curious. He's always been fascinated by tinies after all. Wouldn't it be cool to have one in one of his ecosystems? He'd have to research carefully and make sure to pick a tiny that can survive in an environment like this. But once he finds them... He seals the jar.

Mixed juniper forest
Junipers are tough, hardy little conifer trees and are masters of the “well nothing else can live here but I can” strategy. They are quite widespread and live in dry, scrub ecosystems in a range of elevations and tend to do quite well for themselves there (sometimes to the detriment of other species tbh).
They have either needle-like or scale-like leaves, depending on the species. Some species even have both and can vary based on maturity or environmental conditions.
They also have seed bearing cones that vaguely resemble a small fruit (the “juniper berries”), meaning they’ve basically co opted the seed dispersal strategy primarily used by angiosperms (meaning animals will consume and disperse the seeds)
Well done junipers. Keep it up

the sea.
Nothing reclaims quite as well as the water. Turquoise, deep blue, a deadly hue, filling the deeps with dread. A calm rage. Ships felled, drowned, the water's rampage. Hull, body, oar, anchor; metal displacing the wild waves. Screams muffled by the depths, every cavity filled with salt, sweat, the heavens' tears. Rampant fears. The water hears none of them. Look here, after a hundred years. A car wreck, bodies strewn near it. Skeletal screams stored in the conches. The ocean's lull preserved in their bodies. Corals grow on its metallic frame; living, breathing, glowing. A fluorescent luminance of the ocean floor, thriving on the dark rust of the gears. Twisting, turning, circling, glorious. Spiraling out of the frame. The ocean's creatures feasting on them, thriving in the ruins of the land.
The sea, my lady, she smiles and she laughs, tracing her teal hands across the sandy beaches. This is her charity and her warning. All the lands that once were hers shall belong to her once again. All the rest, the forests, the plains, the deserts, the lanes; the mountains and hills and grasslands and peaks- every last bit of our lands shall be hers. Someday the skies shall reek of her ichor and salt. Someday our blood will be seagrass and fault. The sea will wrap the frail sands in her saline embrace and claim the world her child. We will become a part of her, drowning where we once swam. 70% water, they said. All hers. All hers.

MORE end city thoughts: They are built out of blocks that you can't get with ONLY the resources available in the end (actually, with only the resources available in the end without the end cities, you have access to no blocks at all). They've got chests, smelted things, glass. They have seeds stashed in their chests but there's no dirt in the whole dimension. So. I don't think the End has always been this barren. I think it used to have a bit more life, more kinds of rock, maybe even some water
OOOO GOOD POINT!! also if i'm not mistaken i believe the endermen used to be able to pass in and out of the end at will before being trapped there by the ender dragon, separating them from the endermen who similarly got stuck in the overworld & nether...
i wonder if the lack of communication with their home dimension simply leaves them feeling disoriented and lost, as opposed to some kind of de-evolution that a lot of ppl theorize. i think them moving and holding blocks is the only way they know how to ground themselves, remind them who they once were (builders, architects.) my personal theory is that they could communicate telepathically, but after the ender dragon took reign all they can hear is static, preventing unity, community, collaboration, ideas. sad :(
