Echidna and/or Minerva
I will go with both, I like challenge ! (sorry for the wait ADHD was digging holes into my brain today ^^')
(Also yay more ladies I love <3 Thank you for requesting them)
Echidna
Honestly, it work very well. The design really looks like she got everything she could use as a piece of armor. And it’s made sense as a member and chief of the resistance. It’s not a coordinated group it’s a bunch of people who bring with what they have.
So the fact her outfit is just some green and orange (which are not colors who look harmonious together most of the time) cloths put togethers work very well for her characterisation. It’s also making her stand out when we are more used to classical medieval armies with silver armors coordinated outfits... She’s messier but she doesn’t care about some fashion, she’s here to fight for her cause.
Also, the crocked bandana is just perfect with that.
The only things I would change is maybe having her whole arms covered by the bandages she has on her wrist, like she was hiding some scars.
Also in her original design, I found the armors on her shoulders is a bit wacky, but it was pretty much corrected with heroes (btw if she was just a bit more muscular, this art would be perfect).
Minerva
Her design is very fitting for both a princess and a wyvern fighter. As an exemple, just the fact that the white tissue combined with the armor look like wyvern wings is just so cool.
With the full red armor with gold decorations it looks very majestic like a bird of fire flying and ready to attack you.
I also like how when her brother’s outfit mostly black and her sister’s is completely white, her is very colorfull, with a very vibrant scarlet red, the color which we associate with Macedon the most.
Love how fitting it is with her role in the game.
But sadly, she’s a victim of being the first one of a whole fire emblem archetype: the fiercefull wyvern woman knight, which made her a bit less recognizable inside the whole roost of playable charcters because we’ve got other red wyvern knight (especially Melady who have the same haircut as well).
Even if her armor is more decorated with gold and she has a green bandana she needs now more recognizable features.
I felt like maybe with accentuation of the gold color or maybe add another warm color (maybe with little purple parts, a bit like what her resplandissant did) could make a good job at it. I felt like it would give her even more majesty and also made her stand up more.
Honestly, they’re both great, what I did was really me being nitpicky about it. They both great characters with great designs. And I love them a lot. Cool ladies for the win!
I wrote a bit less than with Nailah because they’re all very strong ladies so they’re quite similar on some points (I don’t want to bother you all too much by repeating myself too often) but also I don’t have the best knowledge about Archanea’s games, I know about Elibe’s more but it’s not the best, and for Echidna especially because I prefer Elffin’s path (Why I can’t play them together?! TwT) while I can write page about Tellius lore.
I will not spoil you too much… but the next one will be salty…. Like sooo salty. 👀

Chapter 16 - The True Enemy (Section 2)
*Note: The 1st 13 chapters are FE7's novelization.
“The Death Mines” was the infamous second name for Mount Eburacum.
The Etrurian lords that controlled the Western Isles sent the local citizens to the mines and forced them to work so the lords could hoard vast quantities of the islands’ rich underground natural resources.
It was cruel, heavy labor for which the workers were not paid. They also were not granted any opportunities to see their families, nor were they even given medical attention if they were injured or fell ill. And the treatment of those assigned to Mount Eburacum was the worst of all. Word spread all around the islands that once you entered its mines, you would not come out alive.
But a group of brave youths vowed to save the people and created the Resistance. They were now fighting to help them escape from Mount Eburacum.
However, the Resistance’s numbers were pitiful, and they were unable to make any major accomplishments. Still, they continued to fight all the same, rallying around their leader, a woman named Echidna. While to the citizens of the islands, they were a ray of hope; the lords thought they were a blight upon the land that enraged them so much, they sought to eliminate them entirely.
Once word spread that the lords put a high bounty on the Resistance leader’s head, Echidna was being targeted by not only the lords, but also bounty hunters.
Castle Armagh was located in the mountain range south of Mount Eburacum. Its lord, Nord, was one of the many people trying to claim the bounty.
Fortune was currently in his favor, as he’d succeeded in capturing a Resistance member the day before.
“So, how is the Resistance spy doing?” Nord asked.
He’d just finished his breakfast, and was lounging in his bedroom as he digested his meal. His thin body looked like a dead twig on his luxurious sofa. The previous day’s events came back to him suddenly, and he called in the soldier responsible for interrogating the spy.
“Has she cracked yet?”
“Well… She just keeps saying that we must have the wrong person.”
That news made him snort. “Hmph, she really thinks she can get herself out of this with just that? Then I will go speak with her directly…”
‘She will talk.’ With that thought on his mind, Nord stood up from the sofa.
But the moment he did so, he received a report that a messenger from the Lycian League Army had come to the castle.
Nord’s eerie face, so thin he looked skeletal, twisted into an expression of slight surprise as he muttered, “Ah yes, the army summoned to chase out the ‘bandits…’”
“They are requesting permission to pass by this castle en route to the northern mountains.”
“...The Lycian League Army, huh…? Lord Arcardo did give an order to come up with a believable reason to eliminate them while they are here in Fibernia…”
Arcardo was the governer-general, and possessed the highest rank over all the Etrurian nobles and soldiers assigned to the Western Isles. He skimmed a small portion of all the resources exported from the Isles to Etruria, amassing a great horde of wealth for himself.
And now that he was so wealthy, his whims were absolute, and he possessed the greatest influence of anyone over all matters across the Isles, making him more akin to a dictator.
If Lycia was here by Etruria’s order, then why did the Etrurian Army have to attack the Lycian Army? Because no matter how unusual an order was, if it came from the governor-general, then they had to follow it. Arcardo’s wealth and power allowed him to make any report he did not like vanish before it reached the mainland.
Meaning that it would be a wiser decision to drink poison then defy Arcardo. Of course, Nord was no exception to the threat of Arcardo’s power.
“...Keh keh keh. This is a chance to gain Lord Arcardo’s favor. Order the soldiers to deploy and attack the Lycians!!”
“Yes, Milord! And what of the messenger?”
“Kill them.”
“Understood, Milord!” The soldier did not even flinch as he accepted such a cruel order.
On the Western Isles, money was power, money was everything, and those with the money were right.
That was the logic Nord operated under as well. “Prepare the ballistae, and skewer them all!!”
The Lycian Army was currently on standby near the mouth of the river located northeast of Castle Armagh.
They were waiting for the messenger requesting permission for passage to return. Roy used the time to reflect on everything they had observed since they arrived, creating a picture of the current state of the Isles.
There were few men to be seen, leaving only the elderly, children, and anyone too injured or sick to work. The women worked hard to grow crops, but at the rate that weeds grew, they didn’t have the strength to pluck them all themselves, leaving many fields filled with weeds.
And because the threat of bandits was always looming over the people, they all looked to be in a constant state of fear.
Every time Roy saw them, suffering in destitute poverty and trembling in fear of bandits, he became ever more enraged.
‘What are the lords here doing, while the people suffer so much?!” He shouted to himself as his clenched fists shook.
He grew up always watching his father, who was beloved by the people.
Eliwood worked himself to the bone to protect his citizens. He was a perfect example of what all lords should be, and Roy worked hard every day to become just like him.
But the lords of the Western Isles held values that were the exact opposite of his own. They exploited the people and did nothing to help them.
The people could not keep silent about being treated this way, and formed the Resistance to fight back and take down their tyrannical oppressors, but their operations were still so small that they were not yet a threat.
Collecting excessive taxes and treating the people unjustly were both serious crimes. Roy wished to report to Etruria immediately and request they work to improve the current conditions, but he was not Etrurian. If he said the wrong thing, he would be accused of meddling into their affairs, and accomplish nothing more than creating an international conflict. For as long as Lycia needed Etruria’s aid to fight against Bern, they had to avoid that possibility.
‘...Can I do nothing but watch them suffer?!’
As Roy was gritting his teeth in frustration over his powerlessness, Wolt rushed up to him and shouted, “Lord Roy! Soldiers are approaching us!”
His words made Roy look up straight ahead, wary of Castle Armagh.
Just as Wolt said, soldiers and cavaliers were pouring out of the castle, all marching in perfectly uniform rows.
“Maybe there's bandits in this area as well?” Roy asked, though he sensed something unnatural about the battle formations the Armagh soldiers were beginning to create.
They even brought out ballistae, weapons used for castle defense and completely unnecessary to fight against bandits.
Their appearance made Roy furrow his brow. ‘...Wait, are we their target?’
As if Wolt had read his mind, he said, “Actually, they clearly seem to be aiming at us.”
“...What happened to the messenger we sent?”
“It's already been a while, and they aren't back yet… Meaning…”
They had killed the messenger sent to request permission for passage without remorse.
As he became enraged by the cruelty of the castle lord, Roy questioned, “Why is the lord of this castle attacking us?”
They'd come to the Western Isles by order of his lords back home in Etruria. To draw their weapons against the Lycian Army also meant that they were drawing their weapons against their homeland.
Yet the forces pouring out of Armagh before his very eyes were not hesitating to attack them.
As his face stiffened in panic, Wolt turned to look at Roy directly. “The enemy is approaching! Your orders, Lord Roy!”
“...Do we have any other choice than to fight back? For now, let's get closer to the castle. We might learn something.” Though Roy was unsure what was happening, he could not stay quiet. If they were defeated, their beloved homeland would have no army to defend it, and Bern would immediately attack Lycia once again.
“Move out, everyone! We will break through the enemy army here! Avoid getting into any more fights than absolutely necessary!” Roy shouted as he pulled his rapier from its sheath.
The structure of the Lycian League Army during their assignment on the Western Isles was established as such:
Roy was their general, and also the commanding officer of the Knights of Pherae.
Lilina commanded the Knights of Ostia.
The mercenaries all followed Dieck’s orders.
Zelot led his Edessa Mercenary Knights.
And their ranks also included the medic unit, consisting of Saul and the other healers; as well as Merlinus’ transport unit.
In case of an emergency back home in Lycia, they did not bring the independent cavalier armies each marquess commanded, instead ordering them to stay home and guard their own territories.
Though the Armagh Army beat them out slightly in numbers, both Armagh’s morale and combat skills were clearly inferior. Compared to the Lycian Army, who had fought grueling battles with Bern one after the other at this point, the Armagh Army only had experience fighting small groups of the Resistance in conflicts completely outside Elibe’s current main conflict.
From the very beginning, the Lycian Army had the upper hand.
“Sue! Take Sin and the other archers to flank the enemy! Rain down arrows upon them from both sides!”
“Understood!” At Dieck’s order, Sue took the unit she commanded with Sin, another young nomad from the same tribe as her, and galloped her horse away from the main army.
At the request of the Kutolah chief and Sue’s grandfather, Dayan the “Silver Wolf,” Sin traveled across Elibe as a mercenary to find Sue and become her guard. During the previous battle against the pirates, he found her fighting alongside the Lycian Army and became a new recruit in order to fulfill his duty.
Sue asked if her grandfather and parents were safe, but because he had set out on his travels immediately after she left the tribe with the women and children, he knew nothing about what was currently happening in Sacae. Though she was worried about the safety of her family and fellow tribesmen, she thought it more important right now to repay her debt of gratitude and continue fighting in this army.
She believed that if Lyn and Dayan were still fighting in Sacae right now, in an indirect way, lending her strength to the other army fighting against Bern would help her allies back home.
The daring nomads’ onslaught of arrows made Armagh’s mercenary unit immediately descend into chaos.
Dieck’s mercenaries, unlike the cavalier units that served their homeland, were not all the same type of fighter. Some used physical weapons, but others were mages. Just when an enemy realized the mercenaries had pegasus knights, they would also find out there were nomads amongst their ranks.
Dieck’s unit was so mixed because as the Lycian Army fought, they met more and more people who had their own personal grudges against Bern that made them want to join the fight, and they were all chosen to be assigned to Dieck’s mercenaries.
Each person’s combat skills and philosophies were different, so rather than have them join any of the cavalier or knight units, it was much easier to maintain command and control over them if they joined the mercenaries, who fought only for money, so they could act more freely. That was Roy’s logic when he selected Dieck to be their commander.
At first, Dieck grumbled against the decision, saying he wouldn’t be a good fit for them, but as they all fought together, he grew into his role.
He raised his Iron Blade and shouted, “Alright, the enemy formation has started to collapse! Wade, Lot, Rutger, charge into their ranks! Lugh, don’t forget to support them from the rear!”
Dieck ran forward as the vanguard, with everyone else close behind. Lugh cast a Fire spell to help them break through.
By that point, the arrows Sue and the other archers shot had also descended the Armagh mercenary unit into chaos. When Dieck’s group charged them, their formation collapsed completely in an instant.
After confirming they defeated the entire unit they were ordered to take care of, Dieck sighed deeply. “I blinked and it’s over… Not that I expected much from a bunch of soldiers not used to real combat yet.”
“Of course not, Boss! They were just a bunch of weaklings that beat up defenseless villagers!”
“Wade’s right. They were never going to be a match for us.”
The two brawny fighters said through heavy breathing.
Rather than pumping up their morale, the battle seemed to have made them so angry, they couldn’t control themselves.
Of course Wade was worked up, as he always spoke his mind; but even Lot, normally a man of few words, was enraged.
Seeing them like this reminded Dieck of something. “That’s right, you two are from around these parts, aren’t ya?”
“We sure are! As soon as we felt happy to be home, we saw that things are even worse than before…”
“Yeah, those good-for-nothing lords here never change!” Lot muttered with a look of displeasure on his face at the way Wade spat out his words.
The two were both from the Western Isles, and Wade’s older sister, as well as Lot’s much younger sister, were still living at home. Their village was very poor, and Wade and Lot wanted to do whatever they could to make their families’ lives a little easier. But if they stayed, they would one day be sent to the mines, so the two left and started working as mercenaries.
“We’ve watched them do as they pleased ever since we were kids…! Both of our dads were forced into the mines and worked to death!” Wade said bitterly.
“If you ask us, every single lord here is the real bandit!” Lot said as he tried to keep his anger under control.
“...I know how you both feel, but please don’t push yourselves. You can’t make your families suffer any more hardship. Remember that it's more important you stay alive than kill your enemies.”
As they trusted and looked up to Dieck just like they would a brother they were related to by blood, they both nodded in agreement.
Just then, Shanna flew down to deliver them their next order. “I come bearing a message from General Roy! The ballistae unit is causing a lot of trouble, so take them out!”
Dieck nodded, then turned towards all of the fighters included in his mercenary group and shouted, “You heard the lady! We’re going to destroy the ballistae! Come with me!!”
“Yes, Commander!!!” At his order, they all raised their weapons in response.

Top 5 FE units (here interpreted to mean “purely in terms of gameplay”)
Seth. It has entertained me for close to 20 years now that in a series that prides itself on how it gives you a wide variety of units and tries to encourage you to come up with a balanced and well built army, one game gives you literally the best unit in the game in the prologue operating at full capacity and capable of soloing the game.
Jill FE10. There’s nothing like being one of the only decent units in a roster of trash to really make an otherwise-good-at-best unit shine.
Lysithea, essentially infinite use warp goes crazy and that’s on top of already arguably being the best combat mage in the game, I hope more games in the future use the Gaiden/Echoes/3h magic systems
Rafiel, dancing four units a turn is an all timer crazy game design choice, what were they thinking etc (even if it’s balanced out by the endgame making you face like 100 units per map)
Maybe an oddball choice but Echidna, as a representative for every other time the games give you prepromotes in the mid-late game and they’re actually competent units that can immediately find a spot in your deployment list
Top 5 female fe units painfully shafted by shit balancing with heavily gendered stat points
Marisa. Eternally cool design, interesting character, statistically inferior in every significant way to Joshua who joins way earlier and in a way more ready to use state. You can’t even cope and say she’s decent as an assassin because luck doesn’t factor into crit rate in fe8.
Sophia. All time Nadir of FE gameplay design. Joins near the end of the fucking game at level one with worse averages than Every other mage so she isn’t even an Est. She’s literally just there to be a liability on the desert map. Holy fuck.
Lyn. Honestly so much of FE7 feels straight disrespectful to her. The bar to clear here was Celica man holy fuck.
Wendy. What if we made an armor unit that had no bulk and did no damage. Maybe the platonic example of “we made her worse than her niche competition because she’s a girl”. Fir is also a good example from 6, maybe a very subdued one in that she’s not terrible or unusable, just mechanically inferior to the male competition in the ways that matter.
Karla. Honestly similarly to Sophia she doesn’t feel like a unit you’re supposed to take seriously at all. I mean, hidden behind bringing a bad unit you won’t use along the whole game and getting him strong enough to face her in an arena but not so strong you’ll kill her, and then she’s worse even than the other pre promote swordmaster you get earlier at higher level for less effort? I guess Karel is technically optional, but still.
I thought of a good chunk of examples from Tellius but most of those were honestly more about how tellius hated a lot of unit types. Micaiah is maybe the series’ least impressive lord but how much of that is that she’s a girl and how much of it is the fact that she’s in a game that fucking hates mages.
