tholomule family portrait 💛🤎 (full tholomule parent designs under the cut!)
Tumblr media
the posthoot friday night inspired me to finish my mom and dad tholomule designs - their names are Atticus and Fiona 💛 Atticus is both boys’ bio dad, but Fiona is Matt’s biological mother and adopted Steve when she married Atticus. They both work in the Construction Coven which takes them away from home a lot, which is why Steve had to help raise Matt 💛 they attended Hexside, but worked in Latissa for many years before moving back to Bonesborough sometime during Season 1 (in order to put Matt into Hexside after Steve brought it to their attention he was being bullied at school). (I also worked on designs for Atticus’s siblings, one of whom is Boscha’s three-eyed-mom - I’ll post those hopefully soon but yeah the matt and boscha cousins HC is so personal and real to me)

103. High School (Frederick Wiseman, 1968)
I gasped when he zoomed in on the mother’s fingers nervously fidgeting with her handbag during her daughter’s disciplinary parent-teacher conference. It so perfectly underlines Wiseman’s remarkable sensibility as an observer and documentarian, but is also a dazzling formal flourish from a filmmaker who I’d previously only known as one whose camera never calls attention to itself. And later, when the English teacher plays Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Darling Conversation” for her students, asking them to consider Simon’s lyrics as poetry, he knows to keep the camera on her as they listen, watching her study their faces, hoping her lesson is resonating with them, or that at least one of them is as moved by the song as she so clearly is. Rating: 9.2/10

not to do two original posts in a row but actually yes to do that bc i took my adhd meds and drank two cups of coffee shortly afterwards and they are interacting. i love the babies at my placement more than anything. they are so small. but they are getting SO big. one of them is learning about how if you throw yourself down the stairs you will then be at the bottom of the stairs (very small stairs)(like two and a half feet of stairs)(carpeted)(practice stairs)(dont worry i was there to make sure he didnt hit his head) and perhaps you will have a small bruise. just wanted to let you know that he’s exploring that.

Home Ec compulsory?
At my school there were only two class groups worth of home ec which meant it was one of the harder electives to get statistically and at my school we only got the chance to pick two elective courses in our final year.
keep seeing posts saying kids should learn to cook at school...I assumed home ec was compulsory everywhere
feel free to put in the tags how much specifically. we did cooking classes between ages 12 and 14, and learnt a range of stuff from basic meals, cooking skills like chopping veggies, baking, etc

sometimes I still remember my job firing me for 'tardiness'
as if my taking medical leave, having to request an accommodation that prevented me from coming in early to ride the bus and monitor the kids, (the meds I take for sleep make it hard to wake up, I was literally falling asleep at the wheel. i was legit a danger to myself and others on the road) and generally refusing to do extra shit that I don't get paid for (like prom duty), as well as my never really being a 'joiner' when it came to school activities, and my lack of interest in making friends with these people outside of work when they try to sell that "work family" crap had nothing to do with it
But no, it was tardiness. Despite the fact that I checked my time sheets as far back as the system stores them. And my being tardy is a pretty frequent thing. I was tardy last year at this same school 144 times.
And nobody said anything. Bc typically I do arrive a few minutes late, but I always get where I'm supposed to be before the kids arrive. My students love me; bc I treat them like fellow human beings with basic human decency, and no matter how frustrated I get I never blame my students. (Should be the standard bare minimum in an EC class, but you'd be surprised how many EC teachers fail to meet it.)
Luckily the new EC teacher was amazing last year. She really worked hard to make sure the kids got included in general ed activities, had a new hands-on project every week, and we had a daily routine. The kids loved her

allow me to ramble/vent for a bit, but it's only tuesday and already my week has been crazy because of various student complaints and shenanigans with the classes i help in........
one student had a legitimate emergency/breakdown and came to me for help because the professor of the class was not being helpful to her, at least 5 other students complained to me about the same professor and how they don't like how the professor structures the class so now i'm gonna have to reach out to the professor and see what can be done (bc tbh even i'm not a fan of how the class is structured oopsie), and in my other class i have two students who got a 0 on their 2nd article summary assignment bc they both submitted the same essay :) and now i'm waiting for one of the students to show up for the appointment she booked with me because the prof is letting her redo and resubmit the assignment but she's not even at the meeting yet nor has she responded to my message on Remind
and yknow what idk if this is better or worse than the incident last week where we had a student use chat gpt to write her article summary straight up 😭
