joshua, you have achieved your dreams.

 

before all else, i have always known that i would be writing this email, ever since we first became friends. i have always known that someday i will go back to my laptop and type another one of these messages that no one's going to read. so far, this is the third time.

 

the last time i wrote an email that a person will never receive was almost 3 years ago, and before i begin with expressing my gratitude, i will just say that i hate you for taking that path (for now), but thank you so much for leaving.

 

thank you so much for leaving my life, joshua hong.

 

thank you for stopping me from questioning whether there is more to us than friendship. you can't and will never be able to answer that, and neither will i.

 

i don't think i'm ready. i don't think i ever will. i am scared to write another email. hell, i am scared right now as i am writing this. for no reason at all.

 

joshua, i am so proud of you for taking another step in your career.

 

i am so proud of you for not letting me or anyone hold you back.

 

i am proud of you for not falling in love with me.

 

i am proud of you, and i am so thankful that you gave me a friendship that brought my hopes and dreams back to life.

 

joshua, you taught me how to dream again, as if i had never known how before, and for a while i thought we were going to dream together.

 

then i realized that i was just a part of your journey. i was your mere comfort zone amidst the chaos of your limelight. i was your blanket that comforted you despite the worry and doubts that constantly ran through your mind.

 

it's impossible for us to dream together when you have a different dream.

 

but if the time comes and you decide to dream another dream with me,

i hope i will not just recognize the risk but actually acknowledge it.

Sobrang favorite talaga si Ebe Dancel eversince. Like, nasa top list sya ng Filipino Artist na gusto ko talaga. Kasi hello????! Sobra na yung songs nya. Sobrang sobrang sakit. It’s like ALL of his fuckings songs ay para sa iisang greatest love niya lang. HAHAHAHA.

So whatever happens, I will watch him. Alone. Nag file pako ng leave para dito. Kasi hindi naman sya nagagawi sa south area. 🥹

I realized that my music preference is a mix of everything.

Case in point, my playlist tells a lot about my mood swings. There are days I enjoy 2NE1 and BTS to lift whatever gloomy feelings I have  and minutes apart I will entertain a sudden urge to play Adele, because why not? 

Perhaps, if other people use painting, dance or whatever medium to express themselves. I on the other hand, convey my feelings best with music. You see, dear reader,  words I cannot enunciate are usually translated by lyrics and melodies. 

There is Lo-Fi music to chill. The Cranberries if I feel nostalgic about the glorious years of 90′s music. Ben&Ben because they are demigods...and there is Up Dharma, Barbie Almalbilis, Ebe Dancel among others and them there are the eternals...Julia Fordham, Alanis Morisette, Gwen Stefani, U2,  Dave Matthews Band, Lisa Loeb, and dare I forget Beyonce? 

The list goes on....

Lately, I have been listening to Ebe’s version of Sugar Free’s Burnout. I guess my emo days are back because the lyrics speaks so much of how we feel things as of late....Burnout...and the need for us to pause and recoup....

I used to be the person who’ll go home ALONE. Palaging nasa isip paano kaya yung pakiramdam na may taong sigurado para sayo. I still remember myself from last year, February ata yon? Breaking down… crying.. asking for help and all cause Im so frustrated na Im looking for something real but I keep on meeting wrong person. Paulit ulit tumatak sa isip ko na Im not good enough ba? Hindi ba ko maganda? Deserve mahalin?

But YOU, you appeared infront of me. I know this person for months already that time. He was just “invisible” in my eyes cause he’s my boss. :) I remember someone teased me.. siguro dalawa to be exact ng same day what if ikaw nalang raw jowain ko kasi single ka naman? 😁 As time goes by.. nung nag simula ng tuloy tuloy usapan natin bigla ka ng nahahagip ng mata ko. Slowly smiling while looking sa mga messages mo.. but I feel like this might not end good (as takot at kota na sa ganong scenario) nakakapagod na rin kasi mag imagine na inlove ka tas poof trial lang 😴

And then… it happened. ☺️ Hindi na ko magisa umuuwi kasi hindi ka pumapayag na hindi ako maihatid. Hindi nako naaaliw nalang sa mga “what ifs” ko kasi pinapakita mo na “what is” ☺️ Hindi ako perpekto pero pakiramdam ko etong feelings natin sa isa’t isa yung pinaka perfect sa lahat. Hindi ko inexpect na ganito pala ka kalmado ang pagibig na totoo. Hindi ko inexpect na ganito pala kasaya kapag yung taong mahal mo eh mahal ka rin. Someone who’ll never get tired to listen sa mga walang kwentang chismis o juicy chismis.. 😗

Kung titignan mo ang bilis ng mga nangyare pero nakaka amaze lang rin dahil nag tagpo yung feelings natin dalawa. Nag abot yung gusto ko sa mga bagay na gusto mo rin. Ganito pala yung pagibig na SIGURADO ka no? Yung pagibig na alam mong paggising mo kinabukasan anjan pa rin. Hindi mawawala. Kung mawawala man alam mong naging totoo at puro yung bawat sigundong magkasama tayo. 😊

I think 1 month palang tayo pareho nating alam at ramdam na this will never end. We are meant for each other. Inshort, I found the one. :) Sabi nga ni Ebe Dancel, nag iisang tiyak sa isang libong duda.

Mahal salamat kasi dumating ka na sa buhay ko. Masaya kong ma experience ang lifetime na ito kasama ka. Palagi kitang ipagpapasalamat sa Kaniya. Palagi kitang ituturing na pinakamahalagang biyaya na mayroon ako. 🫶🏼 Salamat dahil pinaramdam mong sigurado ka na, kahit hindi tayo sigurado sa susunod na mangyayare…. Alam nating palaging tayo pa rin ang ending. Kasi ikaw na yung taong para sa akin, sigurado ako. ☺️

I’m feeling extra sentimental this week…

I don't have a consistent writing playlist but I often like to listen to specific songs if I'm going for a certain feel. I've been writing a lot of angsty stuff lately and a song happened to come up. It reminded me of Flowerworks.

The song is in Tagalog and it’s called “Halik sa Hangin,” which translates to "a kiss in the wind." It's sung by one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Ebe Dancel--who wrote straightforward, but still beautifully poetic and angsty lyrics that I basked in when I was in college.

The song talks about a love affair that had come and gone so quickly, it's as if one was...kissing the wind.

This also reminds me of that idiom, "throwing caution to the wind," which in some ways is also reflective of the story's theme.
