Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears, corresponding to different organs and systems within the body. This ancient practice is believed to stimulate energy flow and promote self-healing.
Reflexology practitioners utilise their expertise to address a range of issues, from chronic pain and stress to digestive problems and sleep disorders. Massage therapy in Merthyr:

Massage, with its roots in ancient healing practices, is celebrated for its ability to reduce muscle tension, alleviate stress, and promote relaxation. The art of massage has evolved, with skilled therapists offering a variety of techniques, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and aromatherapy.
Massage is not merely a luxury but a holistic approach to health and well-being. The therapists in the area are committed to creating a serene environment where clients can unwind and experience the rejuvenating effects of skilled touch. Whether it's to relieve chronic pain, improve flexibility, or simply indulge in self-care, the massage therapists in these areas are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for their clients.
The Holistic Experience in Caerphilly and Merthyr Tydfil:

The towns offer a holistic experience that caters to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. Many holistic wellness centres in these areas provide comprehensive packages that combine the therapeutic benefits of reflexology and massage, offering a synergistic approach to healing.

Thank-you Pearl Harbour on his birthday It served to make up his mind He enlisted on the spot Soon to leave his family behind. It mattered not that he was young He bent the truth a bit He was not yet 18 He just got on with it. He trained and left quite quickly Serving in Papua New Guinea Putting his safety on the line In the hope others would be free. My father didn’t discuss his service But it echoed in heart and mind The victories and the heartaches And the mates he left behind. I know this story is repeated Within many a family When the brave take action And personal responsibility. I am in awe of their courage I thank them all this day For such brave and noble service Is the Australian way. This morning I attended the ANZAC Service at Ebbw Vale, hosted by the FINE IRON. ROD & CUSTOM CAR CLUB. It was a moving and appropriate service, a blend of information, respect and reflection. One of the speakers also shared a gem of information that filled in a piece of the puzzle of my family history. I often wonder about the community in which my father grew up. It seemed a close-knit community from the stories that I had been told. In World War 1, there were 290 people in the Ebbw Vale community. Of those, 22 people enlisted, the highest percentage in the state. This was the community in which my father grew up - one of serving others, of making the world a better place, one deliberate act at a time. Dad taught me to do the same. Today we reflect on the sacrifice of others and their actions. May their legacy be one that we honour in every word and deed. #drivebypoetry #poem #poetry #instapoet #poetsofinstagram #noblepoetry #poet #poetrycommunity #words #creative #creativewords #instapoems #prose #thoughts #poetsociety #micropoetry #anzac #ebbwvale #lestweforget https://www.instagram.com/p/COEHk69lqAA/?igshid=mqb4o5n362z5

A Hidden Note within the Destrubé Family Archive
Introduction: This photo is from the Destrubé family fonds in Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Victoria. The photo was originally framed and the backing read “see note inside.” Intrigued by this ‘secret’ note, we decided to unframe the photo to see what was inside!
Unframing: The process of unframing the photo began with cutting open the paper backing. Once the initial backing was cut and removed, we used pliers to pull the nails that held in the layer of cardboard backing. With the paper and cardboard out of the way, the note became visible; we carefully removed it from the frame and transcribed it. Here is what it said:
“Historical Notes – 5 Dec/76 – Pierre d’Estrubé
For the record; my memories of this picture. Years ago I saw a snap shot, from which this enlargement was made. The original is probably in Mémé’s souvenirs. I recall it to have been reputed by mother (Mémé) as Dad’s (L.G. d’Estrubé’s) – then known as Leon Georges Destrubé – Sopwith Camel, but that Father quietly corrected her noting that it was a picture of a Camel flown by one of his buddies in the same squadron. Apparently it was identical to ones he had flown himself. Piecing together information from his Army Book 425 – Pilot’s Flying log Book (Red leather cover & extra entries having been added by me in 1944-45 & carried with me in [illegible – one word] flying experiences of WWII) I would estimate that the photo’s setting was either Croydon aerodrome or Epsom. Judging from the snow on the ground & knowing that he graduated to Camels in mid-October 1918 the date was close to the armistice (11 Nov/18), the day he flew over London, as I recall, dropping leaflets commemorating the great day! On 17 Nov/18, while on an exercise, he crash landed @ Epsom, broke his nose, never to fly again as far as I know. “
A bit of background about the writer: Pierre d’Estrubé (b. 1923 – d. 2017) wrote this note about his father Georges d’Estrubé in 1976. As referenced in the note, Pierre served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in World War II. After the war, Pierre became a general practitioner and psychiatrist. He was described as being an advocate for the archival record which is affirmed by this informational anecdote that he preserved along with the photo.
Below is excerpts from the Destrubé family record’s biography which provides some background about Georges and the rest of the d’Estrubé/Destrubé family:
The bulk of the material in the Destrubé family fonds concerns the children of Ernest Destrubé, and in particular, the siblings who immigrated to Canada in the early part of the twentieth century – Maurice, Georges, Guy, Paul and Sylvie. It includes their lives as homesteaders in Alberta, experiences on the Front of the three brothers (Georges, Guy and Paul) who signed up to fight in 1914, and life just after the war.
Leon Georges [b. 1888], Paul Jean [b. 1893] and Charles Guy [b. 1891] were born in London. Guy left England to join his brother in Canada in 1907, followed by Georges in 1908 and Paul in 1913. Georges was a talented sketch artist. He had some training in England but decided not to pursue art as a career. Soon after War was declared, the boys travelled to Edmonton (first Paul and later Georges and Guy) to sign on with the Alberta dragoons, however, the first battalion had already left for the east. Their father sent them enough money to cover the trip to England, where the three brothers signed up with the Royal Fusiliers. After close to a year of training in England, Paul, Guy and Georges left for France to serve in the same company of the 22nd Royal Fusiliers. In spring of 1916, Georges was wounded at Souchez—shot through the lung. He was invalided to England and convalesced at Ebbwvale, Wales. Although he made it back to France in January 1917, his return to the Front was delayed by quarantine for Mumps. Due to this twist of fate, Georges missed joining his brothers in the Battle at Miraumont, where Paul and Guy were among the several -hundred soldiers killed, February 17, 1917. In the ensuing months, Georges applied for and was granted a transfer to the Royal Flying Corps. He returned to England for training and spent the rest of the War ferrying planes to and from France.
After the War, Georges married Suzanne Fournier (nickname Mémé). They lived for a few years in Rife, Alberta but Georges found that he was no longer able to do the difficult physical labor required on the farm. He sold his share of the homestead and moved with Suzanne to Victoria, British Columbia. At some point Suzanne and Georges changed their last name to d’Estrubé, although the rest of the family maintained the original spelling. In 1949 Georges and Maurice made a nostalgic return visit to Rife where Georges died suddenly at age 61.
