ebaumsworld - yeah I know they literally stole everything and shove their dumbass watermark over them. but I was a dumb kid and it was one of the few sites (that strangely) our high-school internet didn't block at the time.
had some thoughts about how memes and internet culture has changed so much since i was a kid, so i decided to run a lil poll. let's go.

The only time i will mention anything vaguely politics/discourse related on tumblr (gatekeeping internet culture lets fucking go)
“Anonymous” aka probably some government agency are messing with Russian computer systems and it is in the news. Dozens of internet comments ive read not realizing the connection between Anonymous and 4chan. People who think anonymous is a tangible real thing and they wear Guy fawkes masks. I guess chanology got memory holed? Lots of people posting the “we do not forgive” copypasta like even people on 4chan didnt think it was cringe at the time. Everyone forgot about the hackers on steroids thing from fox news back in the day? Saw the worst comment section of my life the other day. Something like “4chan can do more than anonymous”. No joke most of it was like that
Encyclopedia dramatica was obviously bad but there were sites like the less fucked-up Everything Shii knows and with the loss of sites like that comes the loss of the sacred tablets of internet history (at least knowyourmeme and i think lurkmoar is still around ig)
Then there’s the migration of people to 4chan during the 2016 election (whose consequences were a disaster for internet culture as a whole) Its funny how post-2016 4channers go feral over reddit when thats where most of the old guard of something awful and 4chan went. Back in the day ebaumsworld and gaia online were the boogeymen
Then there are people born after rage comics were invented doing “webcore” vanity pages trying to imitate the old web they grew up Without but they are covered in incredibly personal information and i dunno, emoji pronouns (no offense to anyone who has them its just a sign of the times)
And dont get me started on the newgrounds revival. Someone was mad at friday night funkin (the game with actual pico from picos school as a main character) for having a school shooting joke (not that those cant be offensive its just weird that they dont remember the actual picos school existing)
In conclusion the internet has been gentrified and the image of 4chan anons in my head will always be the dude with the green head and not the guy fawkes mask (the mask is for epic fail guy u fucks) and i find it incredibly strange that ipad kids who didnt live through the early world wide web are trying to imitate the lawless hellhole/elysium it was with no actual connection to it
Also green-face anon will always be what i imagine when i think of 4chan anon. the guy fawkes mask is for EFG. that’s another problem btw because they wouldn’t even have had to go on 4chan to be exposed to green anon they just had to live through the 2010 tumblr x 4chan shipping trend which has also aparrently been memory holed

"Use memes to show how old you are," they say.
I'm older than your references, older than the roots of your sense of self. Older than LiveJournal or Geocities. Older than Tamagotchi. By your reckoning, I'm practically a fossil. Nostalgia is measured in last month's shitposts for some, it's measured in DARE ads for me and in Michael Jordan telling whoever to "Stop it - get some help" in an accidentally paternalistic tone.
It's strange, to think that I once was a teenager who saw his first few memes on eBaumsworld and who thought shit like Hamsterdance was about as far as the genre would ever go.
use memes to show how old you are, I'll start

Well, This Is Strange..
A Hungry Bear Waits Patiently as Campers Make Him a Peanut butter and Jelly Sandwich.
After a wild bear approached a group of campers, a man signaled it to be patient while he prepared a peanut butter jelly sandwich. Feeding wild animals is strongly discouraged because they often become a nuisance which forces authorities to euthanize them.

The Bye Bye Man maybe a shitty movie but it has a cool history.
So I was watching a random review on Youtube about the movie “The Bye Bye man”. They said it was nothing more then a shitty PG-13 horror movie. They are not wrong. The movie is bad and is nothing but jump scares but this is not about the movie. Oh no,  this is about the history around this movies story.
So The Bye Bye man is based on story from a book called  The President's Vampire: Strange-but-True Tales of the United States of America by Robert Damon Schneck.  The author,Robert Damon Schneck, is regular contributor to Fortean Times and Fate Magazine. He is director of the White Crow Society, a group that aims to educate and help those that have witnessed or experienced paranormal or other strange phenomena.
The kicker is that this story was being told and spread around since the early internet age. You can find post from 2008 on paranormalsoup.com ,post from 2005 on unsolvedmysteries.com, AmityvilleFAQ, and eBaumsworld all about this story.
The story is basically about what happens when 3 kids missed around with a Ouija Board on night and it  told them a story about a spirit called The Bye Bye that scared all of the other spirits.
To qoute the story itself
The creature it was afraid of was a man who was born about 1912 in Algiers, Louisiana. He was born an albino and was left at a local orphanage. As he grew up he lost his sight and became violent. He attempted to run away from the orphanage several times, but he was always found and brought back. One night, he took a large pair of scissors, attacked a nurse and fled to the train yards. He became involved with voodoo or black magic, and became a kind of a monster who developed a name that became a folklore figure, a bit like the “Candyman” from the movie. He began wearing glasses that were painted black – after all, he was blind. He started killing people; they began to find bodies horribly mutilated by the train tracks all over the country, or at least all over the south. The man then started putting together a friend or a pet, from the tongues and eyes of his victims that acted as his eyes. It would whistle when a victim was found and he closed in on them. But he found his victims in an unusual way – whenever someone would think about his name, or concentrate on the name he gave himself, it was a psychic beacon and the man was aware of them. As long as someone thought about his name, he would begin to move towards them.
After they hear this story then some typical kinda creepypasta things start to happen. For example they start to hear things and see shadows at 3am. At the end of the story the shadow is at one of the kids door and then sleeps on the floor to test if it was real or dream.  He wakes back up on the floor.  Thus meaning it was “real”.  The whole thing sounds like a urban legends because it is.
The morale of the story is that movie was awful that its own history tells a better horror story then its own movie.

These 26 Revelations Will Blow Your Mind When You Know Them. I'm Still Baffled By #3.
You may go through life, thinking that you know all that there is to know… but you’d be dead wrong. In fact, there are lots of things that you have experienced in your life that you probably haven’t thought about properly. When you do, after you read these pieces of strange trivia, you’ll feel blown away. What were you like as a baby? How big is the universe? How old is the oldest person alive? All of these questions (and more) will soon be answered. You might just have a headache after you read through these…
1.) The 2nd player in Duck Hunt could control the ducks.
2.) If you’re in a group of 70 people or more, there is a 99.9% chance two will share the same birthday.
3.) 1998 is as far away from today as 2030 is.
4.) There are more possible permutations of the 52 cards in a standard deck than there have been seconds SINCE the Big Bang.
5.) Everyone in the world has been an infant… but no one knows what it’s like to be one.
6.) People graduating college this year have never experienced life without The Simpsons.
7.) Ireland’s population has never fully recovered from the Great Potato Famine of the 1800s.
8.) 1 day on Venus is longer than 1 year.
9.) A human male’s genitals contain enough blood to power three gerbils (ew).
10.) Once you’re dead, no one else will remember your memories.
11.) High school freshman are as old as the Krusty Krab Pizza episode of Spongebob Squarepants.
12.) Mars’s population consists entirely of robots. Watch your back.
13.) When caterpillars undergo metamorphosis, they basically become liquid and then reform back into butterflies.
14.) Only 66 years passed between man achieving flight… and then flying to the moon.
15.) The fax machine was invented the same year as people were on the Oregon Trail (and their oxen died when they tried to fjord the river).
16.) You can spell “upside down” upside down by using the letters “umop apisdn.”
17.) Mike Powell set the long jump record at 29 feet. He launched himself 30 feet forward to do so.
18.) Private Wojtek was a (real) Syrian brown bear cub found in Iran and adopted by soldiers of the 22nd Artillery Supply Company of the Polish II Corps in World War II.
19.) People born blind have never seen a smile… but know to make one when they are happy.
20.) There are more atoms in a glass of water than there are stars in the universe.
21.) You always see your nose, but your brain filters it out.
22.) Russia has a larger surface area than Pluto (17 million square km compared to 16.6 million square km).
23.) Being the oldest person alive means that EVERYONE alive at the time of your birth is now dead.
24.) France was still executing people by guillotine when Star Wars was released.
25.) When you say the word “crisp,” the world travels from the back of your mouth to the front.
26.) If all 7 billion people on earth moved to Texas, it would have the population density of New York City.
(H/T Ebaumsworld) There are so many strange aspects of life you probably haven’t thought about before even in addition to these. Take some time every day to sit back and think. After all, some day you won’t have any more time to do so. Share this odd trivia with others by clicking on the link below.

24 Incredible, But Little Known, Facts About The Human Brain.
New Post has been published on https://kidsviral.info/24-incredible-but-little-known-facts-about-the-human-brain/
24 Incredible, But Little Known, Facts About The Human Brain.
You probably think that you know your own brain. After all, you use it every day. However, there are a lot of misconceptions and myths that people accept as the gospel truth. It’s time to debunk (or de-brain) those myths. Not only that, but we wanted to inform you of some strange brain trivia you probably weren’t aware of before. I don’t want to say your mind will be blown… but maybe your brain may be.
1.) You use more than 10% of your brain (in fact you use all of your brain). Most of your brain is active all of the time, even when you’re asleep.
2.) Actually, your brain is MORE active when you’re asleep.
3.) Information can go in between parts of your brain at a speed of 260mph.
4.) You have over 100,000 miles of axons in your brain. They could wrap around the Earth 4 times.
5.) Your brain doesn’t have pain receptors. It can’t feel anything.
6.) Its lack of pain receptors is why doctors can perform brain surgery on conscious patients.
7.) Kim Ung-Yong of South Korea had the highest IQ ever recorded (210).
8.) Your brain is the fattest organ in your body. It’s about 60% fat.
9.) Ancient peoples thought the brain wasn’t important as the stomach and heart. When mummifying people, Egyptians would pull the brain out through the nose.
10.) Brain tissue has a consistency that’s very similar to tofu.
11.) Your brain can generate about 25 watts of power at any given time. It could power a light bulb.
12.) Homunculus is a drawing created by Wilder Penfield. He showed us what we would look like if our body parts were as big as the brain space/power they use.
13.) Brain surgery is an old practice. Some cultures practiced trepanation, which is when holes would be drilled in the skull in an attempt to alleviate pain or cure sickness.
14.) Having a bigger brain doesn’t make you smarter. In fact, Albert Einstein had a relatively small brain.
15.) During pregnancy, a woman’s brain will shrink. It will take up to 6 months to regain its size.
16.) When you were born, your brain was about the size it is now. That’s one reason why babies have such large heads relative to their bodies.
17.) Experts estimate that, over the course of a lifetime, modern human brains will retain up to 1 quadrillion pieces of information.
18.) You had more brain cells when you were 2 years-old than you will at any other point in your life.
19.) It’s easy to trick your brain. For example, Square A and Square B are the same color. (What?!)
20.) There are more than 100,000 chemical reactions happening in your brain every SECOND.
21.) Your brain accounts for 2% of your mass, but uses 25% of your oxygen and energy.
22.) You could survive only having one side of your brain.
23.) Your brain will continue to develop until you’re in your late 40s.
24.) Every day, you have about 70,000 thoughts.
(via: ebaumsworld) Who knew that the human brain was so cool (and that you knew so little about it)? That complex organ in your skull controls everything about you. It’s about time everyone is more acquainted with their brain! Share these cool facts with others. I bet they didn’t know this, either.
