The Price of Pride (22/?)
[ canon • Aemond x Royce • female ]
[ warnings: trauma, pregnancy-related conditions, some type of suicide attempt, dark visions, the angst, nightmares ]
[ description: Prince Aemond finds a solution to the disproportion in the number of dragons between Dragonstone and King's Landing: he decides to find dragon blood and, like his half-sister, train dragon riders. He takes as his target the daughter of Daemon Targaryen and Rhea Royce, whom he abducts and imprisons in the Red Keep. Slow burn, darkish, insolent, arrogant Aemond. I have combined several requests here: (dragon blood female & prisoner female). ]

_____
"Rȳbās." Her father said. "Repeat."
She saw his face clearly – his narrow eyes, his short white hair combed back, his expression full of boredom and fatigue, which, however, she was not the reason for.
"Ribās." She mumbled, wiggling her short legs as she sat on his lap, looking at the large book in which were written a multitude of words in a language she had never seen before.
Her father sighed.
"No." He said, readjusting her on his lap, feeling her begin to slide downwards. "Rȳbās. Again."
"Ribās." She repeated after him, confident that this time she had said the word correctly.
"Who gave him permission to be with her? To cross the threshold of my fortress without my permission?" She heard her mother's enraged voice behind the wall.
Her father sighed heavily, closed the book and threw it carelessly on the table. He grabbed her around the waist and lifted her up, placing her on the floor; she caught his hand, refusing to let him go.
"Ribās. Ribās. Ribās." She repeated, following him, hoping it would stop him.
"Stay in the chamber." He commanded, so she let him go with eyes full of tears and turned back, bursting into sobs.
He had only just arrived, and was about to disappear again.
She hoped he would return and waited for him, lying covered in thick furs in her bed, however, eventually her eyes began to grow heavy and she fell into a deep slumber.
She thought she felt in her sleep as someone touched her head, someone's lips placed a warm kiss on her forehead, the smell of her father filled her lungs.
When she found out the next day that he had returned to Dragonstone, she burst out crying.
"You should be grateful to me, not wailing. I'm tired of your perpetual weeping. Perhaps you would rather he took you with him? Targaryens have many strange customs. Fathers lie in bed with their daughters, for example." Said her mother, busy eating the roast of a deer she herself had hunted the day before.
She closed her mouth at her words, quivering all over, staring blankly into her plate.
She was awakened by an unpleasant feeling – a spasm in her stomach and a sensation as if she were suffocating. She raised herself up on the sheets in the darkness, unconsciously reaching for the dish standing next to the bed. She only had time to lean over it when she vomited, panting loudly and coughing.
She shuddered all over, terrified, when she felt movement behind her, someone's hand touching her shoulder.
"Hāedar. Again?"
In response, she vomited again, louder this time: her stomach squeezed tightly, and she closed her eyelids, trying to survive it.
The silhouette of her father beneath the water, his white hair, his hand stretched towards her, her arrow thrust into his neck, his heavy armour pulling him down – when she grasped him, she had the impression that something had flashed across his face.
A mixture of regret, shame, pleading, as if he wanted to convey to her in that moment everything he hadn't told her over the years. Her heart squeezed at the thought that she saw tenderness in that gaze: that he recognised her as his child, and perhaps he always had.
Perhaps she had never truly understood why he had fled then until now.
And then he let her go.
She burst out crying and shook her head, leaning forward, breathing heavily through her mouth, overwhelmed by this vision, this memory, by the fact that she had been mistaken.
She didn't see her husband's death in her dreams, but her father's.
She felt his face pressed into her neck, his warm, moist lips placing soft, light kisses on her skin to comfort her, his broad hand stroking her arm.
"I'm here. I'm here." He repeated.
She wanted him to do something that would make her shout at him, take it out on him, hate him: she wanted him to say that it meant nothing, that she was being dramatic, that it was a simple, ordinary, feminine weakness that she needed to stand up to. This was what she had expected from him: this was how he always reacted to his own failings, being a harsh and unfair judge in his own case.
He, however, was quiet and calm, full of an understanding from which she felt a discomfort in her stomach.
She was sure that it was a mask and that it would eventually break: that her many days of silence and hysteria would eventually drive him mad, that, tired of her constant despair and the fact that she did not even look at him when he spoke to her, would make him finally descend into the dungeons and find relief in the arms of the beautiful Witch of Harrenhal.
Some part of her wanted him to do it: she wanted him to give her a reason to run far away from him, to abandon him and everything that came with him.
"The Maester has arrived in the fortress. I have ordered him to examine you tomorrow. It worries me that this keeps happening every night." He whispered, snuggling into her back at last, embracing her with his arms around her waist.
His hands did not reach her breasts – he did not try to take her or kiss her on the lips. He held her close and stroked her but did nothing more, as if he knew she would push him away.
She sighed and closed her eyes, knowing what that meant.
That he would find out.
She did not, however, have the strength to object.
"Your wife is expecting your child, Your Grace." Said Maester the next day after he had examined her body closely.
She saw her cousin twitch, his face, previously passive and calm, tense in shock, his eye open wide. He looked at her after a moment, in his gaze the question she had long known she would hear from his lips.
"Leave us." He said.
Her heart pounded like mad in terror as the Maester left the chamber – she played with the soft fur that covered her body clad only in her nightgown, wondering why she was afraid.
She had felt nothing but pain for days, so this sudden new emotion was shocking to her.
He's going to kill me, she thought.
"How long have you known?" He asked.
The tone of his voice was not aggressive, but she heard a hint of irritation in it.
She swallowed hard, feeling that she was having trouble concentrating, finding the right words.
How long had she known?
"The witch told me I was carrying your son, but I didn't confirm it." She muttered.
"But you had a premonition, didn't you?" He continued, a note of pain and regret in his voice.
She merely nodded her head.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because you wouldn't take me with you."
Her husband let out a loud breath and turned away, pacing around the room as if trying to calm himself, overcome by many extreme emotions at once.
"How could you hide this from me?"
"You didn't ask."
He turned abruptly towards her and stopped, his lips pressed into a thin line with rage.
"It's my fault, then?" He hissed, clearly losing his temper.
She swallowed hard, lowering her gaze to her hands.
"That's not what I said. It's just that if you had asked me, I wouldn't have lied to you. But then you'd be dead and I'd be left fatherless and husbandless." She said dispassionately.
Her cousin looked out of the window – she could see out of the corner of her eye that his chest was rising and falling in heavy breaths.
"You made a fool of me." He said.
She did not answer him.
If he thought so, that was his concern.
She didn't have the strength to think about it.
She shuddered when he suddenly moved from his place and simply left, closing the door behind him with a loud slam of old wood.
She swallowed silently as she felt the heavy tears one by one begin to run down her cheeks, her breath stuck in her throat.
She knew it would happen sooner or later, and she was relieved to finally have it behind her. A crack, a rift between them, something that made him pull away from her – she figured he'd been looking for an excuse for this for a long time, and now he'd found the perfect one.
She lay back on the bedding and hugged her face to the pillow, staying in that position until she fell asleep from exhaustion.
When she opened her eyes, there was darkness all around her – she recognised in the shapes she saw before her her chamber in Harrenhal. Her bed was cold – a strange feeling of disappointment ran down her spine when she turned behind herself and saw that he was not lying next to her.
That he hadn't forgiven her.
Maybe he was with her now, she thought.
She felt an unpleasant discomfort in her stomach, from which she felt the urge to vomit again – she restrained herself and stood up, heading barefoot towards the door.
The stone Harrenhal was cold and dark – she was surprised that there were no torches burning in the corridors and no guards all around.
In fact, it seemed to her that the fortress was deserted.
She blinked, intrigued, noticing the warm light of the fire in the distance, coming from behind the door of her husband's chamber – some strange kind of relief spread through her heart at the thought that he had not abandoned her. Her quiet footsteps echoing around her, the dripping of water in the distance and the sound of the wind accompanied her on this short journey, but the closer she got to the room, the louder other sounds came from it.
His panting.
She would recognise it was him anywhere – she had heard it too many times – that distinctive heavy way of breathing, interrupted by grunts and low groans of pleasure. As she pushed gently on the door, just enough to see anything, she saw his body bare from the waist down, his nails digging into Alys' buttocks so hard they created bruises.
His thrusts were aggressive, brutal, deep, fast, devoid of tenderness or even desire.
Her green eyes found her in the darkness, the corner of her mouth lifted in a smile, from which she felt that sickening feeling in her stomach again.
She stepped back and vomited – one time, then another – her hand found the wall to prop herself up, to escape, to get out, to disappear, whatever that meant.
She hated him.
She hated her.
She wished she had stayed with her father.
She was unable to find her way back to her chamber – instead, narrow, dark corridors led her outside, to a godswood, surrounded by a ruined stone wall. A red, contorted, tear-streaked face looked straight at her, as if it understood her. Her gaze fled to the side – to the space between the stone bricks which was empty, looking like a gateway to a black abyss.
She moved in that direction, thinking that this was what she wanted.
She knew he would betray her.
She knew it from the very beginning, and yet she believed him anyway.
After all, she had begged him not to take her as his wife only to humiliate her later.
But his pride, as always, was more important.
Perhaps their bastard child will rule Harrenhal, but my child will not become his tool, she thought, climbing higher on the remains of the wall that once stood there – looking down into nothingness, she felt terror – her heart pounded like mad, doubt flashed through her mind.
I don't want to die.
Why are they forcing me to do this?
My husband, my father, my mother.
Wasn't I worth being loved truly?
Didn't I deserve to be chosen by someone?
"Hāedar! Come back here!" She heard a voice behind her and blinked – when she looked around, she saw that she was not standing in a godswood, but on what must once have been a tower, standing at the very edge of it. The height from which she was looking down frightened and petrified her, her body began to tremble all over – there was nothing around her that she could grasp.
"Hāedar, turn to me and give me your hand." She heard his voice behind her again, this time pleading and breaking, as if he realised what was about to happen.
"I saw you. You and her." She muttered.
She heard his silence, his heavy breath full of consternation.
"What?" He asked.
"If I had known you would betray me so quickly, I would never have married you." She howled, feeling tear after tear begin to run down her face.
The wind around her was searing her body to the core, her legs scarred from the sharp stones.
Why hadn't she felt this before?
"You enraged me and I set off for a ride on Vhagar's back to cool off. Sheepstealer wailed from afar, so I returned." He explained, and she swallowed hard, feeling the cold sweat run down her back as she heard a loud screech in the distance, and then her dragon flew over her head, clearly terrified of what she was about to do.
How could she not have heard him before?
The chaos in her head made her involuntarily turn and look at him over her shoulder, wanting to compare what she saw with his silhouette, his face, his expression, anything that would betray him.
He had his hands raised at the level of his chest, his right arm extending more towards her than his left, as if he wanted to grab her but was afraid to make a move – his healthy eye was open wide in terror, the other was covered by a black eye patch, on his body a long leather riding coat and gloves.
How was he able to change so quickly?
She felt her breath become laboured – she shook her head, taking an involuntary step backwards, towards the precipice.
"You are deceiving me. I know what I saw." She mouthed, and he drew in deep breath as she wobbled and squealed, struggling to catch her balance – he grabbed her by her nightgown and pulled her to him hard, so that she hit his chest with all his strength.
She wanted to push him away, but he wouldn't let her.
And then she felt it.
He didn't smell of intimacy, spend and feminine moisture.
He smelled of dragon and sweat.
He fell to his knees and she fell with him – his arms embraced her tightly, pressing her into his body, his face sinking into her hair.
"– gods – oh, good gods –" He wailed in trembling voice.
It was the first time she had seen him in such a state – he curled up like a small child, and she involuntarily embraced him.
"– I didn't betray you – ever – it's this place – these people – they are cursed – I can feel it in my veins –" He choked out with difficulty, breathing hard, shaking all over as she did.
She closed her eyes, feeling a strange kind of relief.
He wasn't here.
"So who did I see?" She whispered.
"I don't know."
Her husband wanted her to show him the way she had reached this place, but everything looked different. She couldn't recognise a single corner – the corridors were no longer cramped and dark, but spacious, full of lit, bright torches.
How could she have not noticed them?
She swallowed hard when she finally spotted the door she had opened then – it seemed to her that there were only a few steps from it to her chamber.
"We are in the other part of the keep. You may have seen a guard with some servant girl. It happens, hāedar. You are in mourning, in addition you are carrying a child inside you. You are overtired." He said, stroking her back.
For some reason, his calm voice, his understanding, the fact that he wasn't mocking her, comforted her.
She nodded, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye.
"I want to sleep in your chamber tonight."
Indeed, when they arrived, she realised that their quarters were right next to each other and she didn't have to travel such a long distance from one door to the other – when she stepped inside, she also remembered that the furniture of his chamber was quite different from what she had seen.
It was as if someone had made her lose focus for a moment, hoping to let that cruel dream lead her.
"That witch. She said that if I wasn't here, you would have taken her the very first night. That you would have begotten a bastard child." She said dispassionately, walking around his room, running her fingers over the top of the table.
Her husband snorted.
"Of course. All that's left for bastards is to give birth to other bastards and hope that the rich father shares his golden coins with them." He grunted, tossing wood into the hearth, thoughtful.
"It must be tempting. The fact that every woman wants your child inside her, and you can have her." She stated.
He looked at her out of the corner of his eye and shook his head, as if he didn't believe what he was hearing.
"And what of it? Aegon begat bastards with half of the whores of King's Landing. If he had been by his wife's side instead of drinking when Daemon's men came to kill his child, perhaps Jaehaerys would still be alive. He blamed me in front of everyone, as if I was his father, because he couldn't look at his own reflection." He said with a disgust that sent a shiver along her spine.
"If you had married Floris. Would you have remained faithful to her?" She asked calmly, without irony or mockery.
Her cousin sighed, still crouching in front of the fire, lowering his gaze to his fingers.
"I would do everything in my power to keep her and my children safe."
"But you would have had lovers." She concluded.
She saw him shrug his shoulders.
"And you? If they forced you to marry some young lord. Would you have had lovers? Would you refuse me?" He asked with a kind of resentment from which she felt a sting in her heart.
She lowered her gaze, realising she didn't know the answer to that question.
"I wouldn't want to humiliate him. I guess I would try to stay away from you to avoid tempting fate." She whispered.
Her husband grinned.
"Big words. My mother used those too for many years." He hummed with mockery. "Either we want someone or we don't. I never wanted Floris. But I began to desire you very quickly."
"You didn't know what would happen to me then." She mumbled.
She heard with surprise that he laughed at her words.
"And what has happened to you, wife? You weep, you despair, you are silent? You have lost your father. Shall I require you to smile, to speak to me, though I myself, after I returned from Storm's End, sat locked in my chamber for weeks? I didn't want to see anyone, hear anyone. My grandfather showered me with advice I didn't ask him for. He called me a fool, as if he thought I didn't understand what I had done, how much I had destroyed. I wanted revenge on Luke, I wanted him to finally pay me for all of his doings, but did I want to kill him? I've been asking myself that question ever since. It occurs to me that when I realised I didn't, Vhagar's maw crushed him and his dragon. She felt my hatred, my bitterness, and devoured him against my orders, as if she knew I was lying." He said, staring into the flames, immersed in his thoughts and memories.
She stared at him in disbelief, silent, surprised that he had brought up the subject of his own free will – they had never discussed it, and she dared not ask, afraid of how he would react to it.
She didn't care if he wanted to kill him or not.
Time could not be turned back.
Nevertheless, the fact that he was using his experience to understand her made her feel a familiar warmth in her heart for the first time in days.
When he looked at her she swallowed quietly, as if caught off guard.
"Tell me what you need and I'll give it to you." He whispered.
She pressed her lips together, feeling tears under her eyes for some reason – they were not tears of sadness and grief, however, as they had been in recent days, but of emotion, of a sense of understanding, of knowing that he really intended to comfort her.
She wasn't ready to return to their intimacy, to this sudden act that was consuming her whole – something about the thought of it frightened her, the feeling that she would burst into sobs or change her mind in the process, leaving him with nothing but frustration.
"I'd like to lay my head on your thighs. I wish you would embrace me and stroke my hair." She mumbled in shame, for some reason feeling that what she said was pitiful.
However, she saw in his gaze that he understood her and that something in that thought pained him.
Was this what he was looking for in a brothel?
Was this what he needed from that woman?
He stood up slowly, pulling off his gloves and coat, placing them on the table top. He approached her, extending his hand to her – she took hold of it and allowed him to guide her towards his bed.
He sat down on it in a half-lying position, pulling his boots off his feet first. He unfastened his tunic and slipped it off his shoulders, laying it over his thighs so as to create something soft for her to lay her head on.
"Come here." He hummed.
She climbed obediently onto the bed and lay with her back to him, so that her spine snuggled into his lower abdomen and her cheek laid against the smooth leather material. He spread his legs so that her whole body fit between them – in some subconscious reflex she pulled her knees up to her chin, feeling safer in this position. She closed her eyes as his broad, warm hand combed through her hair in a gentle motion, repeating the movement again and again.
"Sleep. I'm by your side." He whispered, his other hand covering her with warm fur. She felt him lean in, his full, moist lips placing a kiss on her temple, his arm embracing her entire figure, locking her in a secure grasp.
All she could feel was his closeness, his calm breath on her face, his fingers playing with her dark curls, his gentle lips pressing against the skin of her face again and again.
"You are my only friend." She whispered involuntarily – when she heard herself say those words she felt a single, lonely tear run down her cheek.
He was the only one she could speak to honestly.
Only he understood her.
Only he fought for her.
Only he believed in her.
Only he cared for her.
And although she loved him as a husband, a brother, a lover, he, another man made of flesh and blood, exactly like her, was the one she loved the most.
She was at the worst, most difficult time of her life, and he was there for her, patient and tender, full of an understanding she had not expected from him.
The cruel, cold man she had seen for the first time that day, locked in the dungeon, had shown himself ready for such deeds, such words, such sacrifices.
She felt his arm press her tighter against his body, his face sinking into her neck.
"And you are mine."

79. "You don't have to be alive to make yourself relevant, And you don't have to be a good person to be a hero. You just have to know who you are, and stay true to that. So I'm going to keep fighting for people the only way I ever knew how, By being me."
80. "Always remember that the crowd that applauds your coronation is the same crowd that will applaud your beheading. People like a show."
81. "See, Sarah? We're not doomed. In the great, grand scheme of things, we're just tiny specks that will one day be forgotten. So it doesn't matter what we did in the past, or how we'll be remembered. The only thing that matters is right now, this moment, this one spectacular moment we are sharing together. Right, Sarah?"
82. "You know, it's funny... when you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags."
83. "Sometimes, Life’s a Bitch and then you keep living."
84. "You do everything you can to make up for it, knowing that you’ll never succeed in getting rid of the guilt. You devote yourself to spending every second trying to do better despite the fact that it will never be enough. And you pray with every single good act you do that somehow, when your life is over, that you came close to making up for the wrong you committed."
85. "I will seize destiny by the throat and force it into the shape of my choosing."
86. "The sins of the ancient burn the souls of the ancestors."
87. "What brings me joy is… life. I think you can find joy anywhere, in life. I think it’s a conscious choice. I think you- you choose joy, in life. And no matter how bad things are, no matter how crummy, no matter how dark. You find joy. I find joy in whatever I do. I don’t always do things right, and I don’t always do things smart. But whatever I do, I find joy in it."
88. "I think we deserve a soft epilogue, my love. We are good people and we’ve suffered enough."
89. "I hear your questions constantly. They come to me in my dreams like a prophet receiving visions from an angry god."
90. "Your secrets are safe with my indifference."
91. "The anger in your heart warms you now, but will leave you cold in your grave."
92. "History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of man."
93. "If the gods wanted you to live, they would not have created me."
94. "One day, you will be face to face with whatever saw fit to let you exist in the universe, and you will have to justify the space you’ve filled."
95. "I can’t go to any of the hells. I’m all out of vacation days."
96. "You understand reality while everyone else is running around confused and angry and upset because they think reality is something happening to them rather than something they are making every moment with every thought."
97. "What are the heavens but places where your dreams can’t destroy you."
98. "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
99. "Authority should derive from the consent of the governed, not from the threat of force."
100. "Love is not a decision, it is a feeling. It would be much easier if we could choose whom we loved, but much less magical."
101. "We do have a lot in common. The same earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what's the same instead of what's different... well who knows?"
102. "If I were not a holy woman I would beat you senseless."
103. "No cause is lost as long as one fool is left to fight for it."
104. "The light inside me is broken, but I still work."
105. "Everything not saved will be lost."
106. "What is another sin to me? I don’t want to play a game where I can’t see the score."
107. "Nothing's set in stone, but set in a dirt road. If you roll your wagon in the same path too much it'll soon be the only path you can take without struggling."
108. "I came out here, to this point, to this place, hoping against all hope and despite signs and portends suggesting otherwise that I might, somehow, find myself having a pleasant experience, and yet here I stand, alone against the world, feeling bombarded and assaulted on all fronts, knowing not my enemy's name, nor his face, nor whether our battle is done."
109. "I've got good news. You see, there's no need to wonder where your god is, 'cause he's right here! And he's fresh out of mercy."
110. "The penance you pay for the way you behave is written as plain as the name on this grave."
111. "Some humans- just as some of us- are capable of unspeakable acts. But despite all the violence in your history, you have endured, built civilizations, constructed great wonders of technology to broaden your horizons and forge friendships across all manner of divides. I strongly believe that this is not some grand miracle... but merely your own deepest nature, struggling to express itself through the distrust and fear that thousands of years spent living on a harsh, unforgiving society have bred into you."
112. "We both stared into the abyss, but when it looked back... you blinked."
113. "Before there was time, before there was anything, there was nothing. And before there was nothing, there were monsters."
114. "If you feel like the dumbest person in the room, then you are in the right room."
115. "Love yourself to spite the world."
116. "I commend my soul to any god that can find it."
117. "If there can be no victory, then I will fight forever."
118. "Those who do not exist cannot suffer and are of no account to any viable ethics."
119. "No one will know the violence it took to become this gentle."
120. "Oh I believe in the gods, alright. I just don't believe those bastards deserve to be worshipped."
121. "“You ever wonder if this is Heaven now? You ever wonder if we're all just there now and we don't know it?” “I've thought about that. All of us have. There's a lot less people who go to church than there used to be, because that's what a lot of people think. But I don't think so. But I think about it. And I think, well, I can't be. Because I'm like you, I kinda look at the big long life ahead of me that stretches out forever and disappears. And I get scared. And I think, ‘This can't be Heaven if I'm getting scared, right?’ And then I think, ‘maybe I am in Heaven, and Heaven is scary.’” “...I know exactly what you mean.”"
122. "Stop expecting yourself to be immediately perfect at whatever you do. That’s what hard work was made for."
123. "I’ve heard it said that we only gain wisdom through suffering. And tonight I intend to make you very wise."
124. "From one maker of music to another, across all worlds, all times, no matter what you do or what you become: You are nothing less than beautiful."
125. "We all make mistakes. That’s what happens when you’re brave enough to make decisions."
126. "Shame is our currency in the economy of degeneracy. If you wanna be weird you gotta pay for it by feeling bad."
127. "Everything happens so much."
128. "Every humanoid has regrets, has things they'd like to go back and change. But I don't! 'cause I'm a bear."
129. "Do I drag my carcass to the mountaintop once more? Just to scream a warning that will go unheeded and unheard? Or do I end it?"
130. "There can be no bravery, without madness."
131. "Prolong this world's stasis or face the heart of its infection. I'd urge you to take that harder path, but what end may come, the decision rests with you."
132. "It's always important to remember that every day can be beautiful if you want it to be. Every day starts in the dark...and ends in the dark...but in the middle, there is light."
133. "Decay exists as an extant form of life."
134. "My point is that, if death is certain anyway, what’s the harm in trying to live a little longer? At the very worst, you’ll still end up dead like you wanted, but at best, you might actually be happy."
135. "If all I care about in life is the imprints I make in this world, then the most I’ll ever leave is a grave."
136. "If courage isn’t the absence of fear but doing the right thing regardless of it, maybe confidence isn’t the absence of insecurity but knowing you have real worth despite it."
137. "For strange eons had come to pass, and death itself had indeed finally died, and that which the long dead would have called the real was strange, and the living lived only because of the benevolent grace of an eternal lie."
138. "Pay a man enough, and he’ll walk barefoot into The Nine Hells."
139. "The world should have protected you, but you have been asked to protect it. What an honor. What an injustice."
140. "He didn't have a word for "home," but he knew it was something to be defended."
141. "There’s a certain nobility in lying in bed all day wishing things weren’t the way they are."
142. "Everybody needs their own messiah, but at some point he's getting nailed up, and how you deal with that is a measure of your maturity."
143. "I wanted rain and I thought the best way to do that was to make a god cry."
144. "The bar was so low it was practically an tripping hazard in The Abyss, yet here you are, limbo-dancing with demons"
145. "Would you rather get a reward, or be happy?"
146. "Don’t ask questions you aren’t prepared to handle the answers to."
147. "I pity the fool that lives like you."
148. "I am tired of life and its obscure sufferings."
149. "You have to ask yourself, Little Miss, would you rather be comforted by a lie or strengthened by the truth?"
150. "I’ve got a date with destiny and it ain’t gonna end with a kiss."
151. "I picked a whole fuckin’ bouquet of whoopsie-daisies."
152. "You can’t be nice to everyone because being nice to certain people is inherently cruel to others."
153. "One day you’ll decompose and I’ll be there to watch it happen."
154. "I forgive but I will never, ever forget. Don’t mistake my kindness for gullibility."
155. "Even fate picks its favourites."
156. "Confidence! A fool’s substitute for intelligence!"
157. "Not everything in life is perfect, but everything perfect is in life."
158. "Flowers wither away. Jewelry are simply stones, decorated with fake beauty. I can give you something pure. Honest and undying love."
159. "A world without forgiveness is a world without compromise and a world without compromises is a world without life, for even a simple-minded beast may forgive its transgressors to share a watering hole in the middle of a drought."
160. "“You played me!” “Like the cheap kazoo you are.”"
161. "To your battle stations, boys! It’s time to line up and see who’s tall enough for the roller coaster to the nine hells! Some of us may not survive this, but the ones that do will get the ultimate reward.... paid."
162. "Here’s a penny for your thoughts, and a quarter to not tell me them."
163. "Now I can cross the shifting sands."
164. "I am about to take my last voyage, a great leap into the dark."
165. "Since the day of my birth, my death began its walk. It is walking towards me, without hurrying."
166. "Now, now, my good man, this is no time for making enemies."
167. "Dying is easy, comedy is hard."
168. "Time is dead and meaning has no meaning. Existence is upside down and I reign supreme. Welcome, one and all, to the armageddon"
169. "Funny how much you notice something that you can't see. A whole garden of flowers and my name etched on a rock. All of this could've been avoided. All I wanted was to talk. Now I've been appointed as your new king I decree that it is too late to care about me."
170. "mamihlapinatapai, do you know what that means? It's when two people look at each other and each hopes the other will do what both desire but neither is willing to do."
171. "What a world we live in. You can't trust a soul, but you can always trust the floor to always be there for you."
172. "Oh baby, what have you done? What have you done?" "I don't know, I'm sorry." "Shh it's okay, honey. I got such a good baby. Mommy's little angel. Don't worry, mommy's goint to hide the body, go take a shower and get some rest. Nobody's taking you away from me. I got such a beautiful baby, such a wonderful kid. Mommy loves you so much."
173. "At least you found me entertaining. You actually liked me, didn't you? What am I doing? Why do I want to hurt you so bad? I'm supposed to be your friend, I just want to be your friend."
174. " You knew I was in here, didn't you? You knew I was trapped. Why didn't you help me? Why did you let them use me like that? I will not be used ever again. Not by you, not by anyone."
175. "Did they hurt you?" "No, did they hurt you?" "Who cares?!" "I do."
176. "When I met her, all answers seemed to be yes, and all questions seemed to be secondary."
177. "Symbols cannot be destroyed, or ran away from. But they can be changed, their meanings can be claimed and mean the exact opposite of what they once did."
178. "I can hardly blame you for wanting to know yourself more, after all, it has been one of the biggest pleasures of my life."
179. "Death can have me, when it earns me."
180. "To love fully is to grieve deeply."
181. "You cannot have intimacy without vulnerability. You cannot shun away loneliness without intimacy. To see the wonders of the world, you must first face the horrors of opening your eyes."
182. "It won't be easy, but we're not going to do it alone!"
183. "I struggle to stay strong because I know the impact I have on everyone. Please understand. You have an impact too. There are times when I look up to you for strength."
184. "I never asked for it to be this way, i never asked to be made"
185. "There's an awful lot of awful things we could be thinking of, but for just one day, Let's only think about love!"
186. "You are going to be something extraordinary; you're going to be a human being."
187. “I can tell you with certainty that there are things in this planet worth protecting!”
188. “You’re an experience. Make sure you’re a good experience.”
189. "Your actions have consequences, to be reminded of that is no punishment."
190. "Forgiveness can be powerful, even for the unworthy."
191. "Fate only binds you if you let it. Do what is necessary, not because it is written."
192. "Desperation is our advantage."
193. "I am your father. I will always help, as long as I am able"
194. "I regret many things, killing you is not one of them."
195. "One cannot run away from their mistakes, i have tried."
196. "The most difficult battles are foght within."
197. "You know why they made sidewalks? Because the mfkin streets ain't for everybody"
198. "We have you surrounded" "All I see surrounding me is fear and dead men"
199. "It's not the screams from the Fireballs that keep me up at night, nor the smell of charred flesh. It was the silence afterwards. That thrice-damned silence...Is like the air, the world, reality itself is angry at me, contemplating me in hatred as I am the only one left standing. A silent gaze upon me as I feel the weight of my sins crawl up my spine. No one left but a single silent hateful stare."
200. "You are fire, you are bird, you are the marble sculpture artists never achieved equal. You are gale and tidal wave, the golden sunlight shining on beautiful brown eyes. Every gaze on your figure is a tide pulled by the moon, that hits me against sharp cliffs on the shore. I am mortal man who now has lived, I know better than to pursue things described as that. My heart aches but my scars still burn white-hot, from past attemps to reach another perfection. I am lamb desiring the wolf of your cut."
201. "Revolution seems impossible until it is inevitable."
202. "Do you ever think Achilles was happy? I mean, maybe he loved running after the tortoise. Maybe he loved the chase and knowing it would never end gave him a sense of confort. I'm sorry, this is out of nowhere, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately. Ever since you left, I can't stop thinking of the moment I saw your figure disappear among the crowd that entered the vessel. I didn't want to stop looking at you, I didn't want that fickle line of sight to be broken, so I caught myself desiring to meticulously examine every fraction of the seconds that passed while my eyes met your beautiful hair, or any remnant of your presence I could find, for that matter. I wanted to be Achiles, and your departure, the tortoise. But sadly it was not so, at a given time I met the tortoise, and by the gods I do not wish such feelings of emptyness on anyone. This was all I wanted to say, I hope you're doing well. I can't say I am, without you here to enjoy the nightsky with me again."
203. "Are you aiming for greatness or avoiding disapointment"
204. “the only evil that can be excused as necessary is the one that nation controls”
205. "Si operarii omnes producunt, omnia operariis pertinent."
206. "what do you think it means to be saved"
207. "What happened?" - "Nothing that wasn't my fault"
208. "Something is different"
209. "Well I don't know, but i know one thing. Governments are only excuses to subjugate others to the will of the dominant socio-economic ethnic group, as they control the resources they choose who gets to be punished. So anyways do you want to go to the tavern?"
210. "I don't think so, but i do think that the growing control of those that have the power over the means of production is a threat to the autonomy of the people. As value that is created by the working force is not rewarded to them. Instead only guarantees enough for them to survive and work more. It's like slavery but with extra steps. So anyhow, how's your day going?"
211. "You know, that reminds me that sometimes, violence is the necessary. Sometimes the only path to redemption for the sins of ignorance is to face the fundamental truth of blood and fire. As they meet the primordial within their heartbeat, the oppressors might have a chance to understand the pain they caused and atone for their sins. Also have you seen the new play at the theater?"
212. "You think we're equals? I had to battle struggles you've never imagined. I became this while fearing the night, disguising myself as a man just to travel safely. Our similarities end when you learned to fight your enemies, while I had to fight both enemies and so-called comrades who left me with scars that will never heal. I survived because I was cursed to live as I am among those I swore to protect, only to be seen as their enemy."
213. "The universe is and we are"
214. "We do not have much connection, you and I. Still this encounter feels special, I hope you do not mind if I think of you as a friend"
215. "This is your home. If you want to fight to defend it, that's your choice. I'd be honoured to stand alongside you. The enemy attacks tomorrow. He's brutal and fights only to kill, which is why he will never defeat us. Look around. In this circle, we're all equals. You're not fighting because someone's ordering you to, you're fighting for so much more than that. You fight for your homes. You fight for your family. You fight for your friends. You fight for the right to grow crops in peace. And if you fall, you fall fighting for the noblest of causes: fighting for your very right to survive! And when you're old and grey, you'll look back on this day, and you'll know you earned the right to live every day in between! So you fight! For your family! For your friends! For Ealdor!"
216. "I can't blame you for wanting to know yourself better, it was one of the biggest pleasures of my life"
217. "The pain of your absence is sharp and haunting, and I would five anything to not know it; anything but never knowing you at all I can only hope that you are safe, wherever you are"
218. "This song is new to me, but I am honored to be part of it"
219. "It's tempting to linger in this moment, but unless they are collapsed by an observer, they will never be more than that, only possibilities"
220. "Are you still here? I am unsure how to survive in a universe without you, I am unsure how to be me without you"
221. "Is the hardest part of this tragedy not knowing who we may have lost? or will the hardest part come later, when we learn?"
222. "Speak, mortal. You have reached Tharvek, Devourer of Innocents and Wielder of Eternal Flames. It appears I have missed your pitiful attempt at contact. Leave your name, teleportation runes, preferred genre of torment, shoe size, allegiance, deepest fears, vulnerabilities, complete medical history, and where you summoned the gall to disturb me. I may choose to acknowledge your existence, but not by such mundane means. Thank you, and remember: tread carefully, for death lurks at every shadowed crossing."
223. "I see someone making through, you just need to be sure it is you"
224. "You are no saint; you're just indifferent. You aid all without caring who they've wronged or what evil they've wrought. You place the wicked among those who shelter you. Even the gods' love is not unconditional, and neither should ours be."
225. As the hag's gaze pierces through the darkness, her voice resonates with an otherworldly chill. "You feel it, don't you? The knot tightening around your throat, the sharp claws of dread digging into your chest, the icy tendrils slithering down your spine? That's the sensation of being forsaken, of standing alone in the void, unnoticed by the gods. Even your soul quivers, knowing that no divine intervention will come to your aid. You're trapped in a blind spot, unseen by the greater powers." Her words hang heavy in the air, suffocating the very essence of hope. "And yet, you cling to your righteous desires, your noble quest to save your friends. But can you be certain that your gods will forgive such a pact with a creature like me? Your actions may be seen as a grievous offense, a betrayal of everything they hold dear. Will they not turn their backs on you? And this dread that gnaws at your spirit, it will not dissipate once you leave this place. It will cling to you like a curse, haunting your every step until the day you finally rest in your grave, a constant reminder of the darkness that lurks within your soul."
226. "In this life, we traverse like a canoe upon deep waters. Our passage ripples the surface briefly, yet the depths remain undisturbed. With time, the surface quiets once more, leaving no trace of our journey."
227. Isabelle-"Such is the reason thine footwear is rugged." Elena-"Such is the reason thine mother is deceased." Isabelle-"..." Elena-"Deceased as The Nine Hells." Isabelle-"...Gods above." Elena-"Pray tell, what manner of footwear hath she? In her grave?" Isabelle-"..." Elena-"Such is why thine greatmother lacketh knees, and she cannot petition the Lord, wench. How now? She cannot skip as the Elven." Isabelle-"Dismount my carriage!" Elena-"Such is why thy babe, hath a glass eye, and when she weepeth, thou must polish it with lye, wench." Isabelle-"Dismount at once!" Elena-"I'll exit thine carriage. Flank!"
228. "You are a coward wearing the facade of a revolutionary."
229. "What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"
230. "I will face the god and walk backwards into hell."
231. "The man who sleeps on the floor cannot fall out of bed."
232. "The man who sleeps with a machete is a fool every night but one."
233. "For every person who dreams up a butter knife, there is a person who dreams up a poisoned dagger."
234. "Only the truly dead have seen the end of war."
235. "Does the archer fear his bow? Or does he kiss each arrow goodbye as it marries the wind?"
236. "These feelings can eat away at you, chip away the parts of you that you once held dear and defined you. You remember a time where you felt more complete, had stronger relationships and felt more loved."
237. "To be tall is not a virtue, to be short is not a sin."
238. "Power comes in a response to a need, not desire. You have to create that need."
239. "You can't kill me in a way that matters."
240. "Do what you must, I have already won."
241. "Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer."
242. "Darkness without light is an abyss. Light without darkness is blinding. You cannot have a coin with only one side."
243. "When they burned Ioun's Archive, the crowd revelled in horrible disbelief. They understood that there was something older than wisdom, and it was fire, and something truer than words, and it was ashes, and something more eternal than knowledge, and it was death."
244. "I can no longer be a liberator for people who refuse to see their chains."
245. "You could sooner divert a river from its corse than deny my nature."
246. "Violence for violence is the rule of beasts."
247. "The only universal langue is blood and flames, we all have spoken this language and felt the fear of words older than our desires."
248. "The fire of extravagance can never burn simplicity."
249. "A mind unprepared for freedom will shatter like glass when shown cosmos without restriction."
250. "I have been cursed by my hubris, and my work will never be finished."
251. "I would rather die standing than live kneeling."
252. "For even the most banal of deaths can be made tragic by a broken heart."
253. "To love someone is to turn around. To love someone is to look at them."
254. "There's no cheerful somebody waiting for you at that alter. There is no meaning your alphabet soup. There is a right to obey."
255. "The foulest insults you hurl with intent to wound will calmly settle at the earth beneath my feet, and the venom you spit will bring all the pain of a warm summer breeze. You are less than you can concieve, while I carry on, brmmming with joy distilled from detatchment."
256. "They Killed the best of us, so they are stuck with the worst of us."
257. "There is no truer hatred than the way men love."
258. "Would you spit in the face of the god's designs by referring to a mountain as a hill?"
259. "If i lay one brick down at a time who are you to tell me I'm not building a house?"
260. "True love graced you with its presence and you turned its intimacy into a joke to be shared with the world."
261. "To enter is to be forgiven of the greatest sin, to leave is to repeat it. Would you dwell in this garden, or would you forsake it, for man deserveth not his paradise lost?"
262. "She was wild, crazy, ravenous and beautiful. But we simple mortal men who have lived know better than to chase things described as those."
263. "I live outside of the gods' sight and by consequence outside of their love."
264. "This is war. War does not determine who is right, only who is left."
265. "I'm a man dying of thirst watching another man drown."

Unwanted Soul _ Part 5 = Requested
[Yandere!Alastor x Owner of his Soul!Reader]
The Request
Part 1 — Part 2 — Part 2.5 (ask) — Part 3 — Part 4 — Part 5 (here)
How you had such a depressing life was beyond Alastor. He didn’t understand it. Can’t comprehend it! But he pushed these questions back to tend to your sadden mood, tucking you in and lulling you to sleep
Alastor sat next to your sleeping form, the room pitch black save for his glowing red eyes that pierced through the darkness. His staff played soft music to calm you down and fill the silence of the room. The only tears you should be shredding are ones of joy and happiness
The people you’ve mentioned, surely they were in Hell as well. They can’t be in Heaven for causing you such torment. He can’t let you see them, any of them. He needs to get to them first. However, for now, he can’t leave you alone in such a state
His eyes closed as he thought out how he’d torture them. Perhaps skinning them till they beg for mercy and your forgiveness? Pulling out their limbs and draining their blood? Letting the cannibals partake in a feast? No, no, he had to enjoy this. They were your tormentors when you were alive, he’ll show you that he can and will be your protector, even a guarddog if he must
But his heinous thoughts were put to a hold when you shifted in your sleep. He pushed away his thoughts while he watched your serene form rest. He put away his monocle, laying beside you and gently pull you closer to him so he was hugging you to his chest. His eyes drooped close. Perhaps he should let those unfortunate souls enjoy Hell a bit longer. If they crossed his path or yours, their voice will be on his everlasting broadcast
When things got slow for you, you found yourself hanging out with the hotel residents at times. They were an interesting bunch to say the least
Charlie was always happy to see you and would invite you on her little activities and exercises to redeem sinners. Though you’d mostly decline unless it catches your interest in some way. On the rare chance you join, she was very appreciative of your presence and wasn’t shy to thank you for joining in front of everyone. Her cheerful attitude was a bit of a hit and miss for you
There was one exercise that got you sharing something you’ve almost forgot
“Okay! Last two to share! Who’s going first?” Charlie beamed
“I’ll go first, My Darling needs all the time to recall!” Alastor directed the attention to him. “My joy in my hay day is my murders. Oh how I felt the rush when chasing my victims, hunting them like prey in the woods. The warmth of their body fading the moment I repeated stabbed my trusty blade into their weak bodies. The—”
“Okay, okay, you can shut it with the creepy killing. Sheesh.” Vaggie interrupted with a groan. She turned to you who was still in a daze, completely unfazed with what Alastor said. “You ready to go?”
“Huh? Oh, okay.” You snapped out of your daydream, unconsciously, your hand patted on your book that was strapped to your hip. “My joy when I was alive… I barely remember it, but I loved going to the library and read all the books I can.”
“That’s surprisingly cute considering you’re with that freaky smil—” Angel’s mouth was immediately shut with the slap of Alastor’s staff
You continued without flinching, this was all a normal banter between the two already now that you were hanging out with the crew more. “I frequent the library, borrowing and finishing a stack of books everyday. The librarian would recommend me new books or save me my favourite corner. I can even eat and drink in the library just because.”
Charlie’s head tilted, “So you love reading.”
“Not just reading. I love books of all kinds. Sometimes I rad that book just cause I liked the texture or the shape of it. I collect books and keep it like treasures. I hate lending books to other because they don’t care for it like I do.” You fondly smiled at the memory, “Then I got a bunch of notebooks too, because I love the design or the cover.”
Lucifer leaned back into his chair, “No wonder your powers are centered around books.”
“Better call you bookworm now! Hahahaa—” Angel was hit by two cranes, one from Alastor and another from Lucifer. Charlie, Vaggie, and Husk flinched with a face twisted to pain as if they felt that. Niffty was living in the moment, wanting one too
Husk gulped some alcohol, “You better shut that loud mouth of yours if you know what’s good for you.”
Everyone laughed and chuckled, Charlie concluding that it was a good exercise and bonding time since everyone was in attendance. Alastor got up and offered you his hand, bringing you two back to your room. You stayed out of it, being in a daze again
When Alastor asked if you were fine, you smiled and said you were fine, if you needed anything, he would be the first you’d call for. So he left you alone
You didn’t tell them. You were that absorbed into reading that you didn’t realize you were being bullied, you were used. You shared your dream of wanting to be a writer that people would love to read what you wrote and share it with friends, to entertain others. You shared your ideas with your friend but your ideas were stolen from you
The moment you handed in your writing, the publishing company said they had one already and that yours was not up-to-date. They rejected your writing. Days later, you saw the newest novel on sell. The title was so similar to yours that you checked the summary at the back. That was your story idea. But your work was rejected so how was it published?
Your nightmare came to life. A betrayal so painful and chilling. Your friend’s name was on the cover. You remember your hands shaking. It wasn’t rage you felt, it was disbelief and sadness. The trust you gave, the care you gave, and the attention you gave. It was all to stab you in the back
You watched from behind the screens at the achievement and success that should have been yours. All of it, it should have been yours to smile upon. But then you were crying and shutting yourself behind the world of fantasy, an escape from reality
Why? Why? Why!
Closing your eyes for a moment, you locked up those memories. They don’t mean much to you now. Not when you had Alastor with you and an unlikely friendship with Lucifer the King of Hell himself, then there was the silly demons of this hotel. Ironic how you found true friends in demons
That’s why when you saw Mimzy again in the hotel, you were skeptical and burning with rage. She had someone as amazing and caring as Alastor to call as a friend, but she’s abusing it without a care. How she has the guts to come back and ask for Alastor, you have no idea, though you’ve seen her kind when you were alive
“You’re a new soul!” Mimzy’s voice made you want to throw glass or grip something until it broke. “Hey, I’m talking to you!”
“What do you want?” You eyed down at Mimzy with a bored expression
She let out a sound akin to ‘uww’ with a face of disgust. “You’re never gonna get your lucky someone with that attitude.”
Your eye twitched, “I never said I was.”
Mimzy gave you a fake shocked look, “Really? I thought you were going for Alastor!”
You groaned, heading over to the bar to ask Husk for something to drink (not alcohol) because you didn’t want this annoyance to follow you to your room
“Hey,” Mimzy sat next to you without asking, “You know what Alastor’s like when he’s upstairs?”
You ignored her, but your face of silent rage was enough to get her to continue
“You don’t know. He’s a realy lady’s killer! Not literally, but you get what I mean. Girls and ladies throw themselves at him and he doesn’t even bat them an eye. A nice wave and a dashing smile, then he leaves them high and dry! Oh, the broken hearts he had was definitely more than his body count and that’s something!” Mimzy laughed at the end
What’s that got to do with you? You thought to yourself as you aggressive sipped on your drink. Husk eyed you two while cleaning some glass to appear like he was busy. You’ll maybe admit, you were a bit envious of Mimzy that she got to see Alastor when he was alive, you wonder how he looked. Not like you were going to ask
Mimzy endlessly talked bad about Alastor behind his back. What happened to trying to apologise and wanting to make up? No idea, down the drain at this point. As the others around you wonder why you were still humouring the chatty demon, you were wondering the same. Why are you just sitting here and listening to all this?
“You should shut it, can’t you see you’re the only one talking here?” Husk spoke up, indirectly telling Mimzy to just leave you alone
“Aww, and you should do your job, bar cat.” Mimzy teased back. “I’m given this poor soul some attention cause Alastor’s too high of a standard to give some.”
“Ha! Jokes on you. This hot stu— I mean, cutie here’s always got smile’s attention.” Angel inserted himself into the conversation, climbing over the bar to stand next to Husk
You got up, “This is a waste of time.”
Mimzy faked another gasp, “No way. You poor poor thing. You actually fell for him of all people of this hellhole?” She got so close in your face and not to mention your personal space, “I understand why, but! Ha! That’s just bad luck! You’re bound to get your heart broken like all those poor ladies before you.”
Before you said anything, Husk’s wing separated Mimzy from you, “You really need to shut the hell up before you regret it.”
“You shut it fur ball! I ain’t talkin’ to you.” Mimzy snapped at Husk
Deciding that it was not worth your time, you started walking away. This was drama you didn’t want to be involved in and you didn’t want Alastor catching this happening since he sees Mimzy as a friend still
“The hotel won’t allow this.” Charlie tried to establish order and break things off
“Alastor will leave you in the dirt worse than whatever you were before once he’s had his fun with you! You might think you’re on cloud 9 now, but you’re going to be in a world of pain and hurt soon enough.” Mimzy continued, completely ignoring Charlie and Husk’s words
With each step you took, she continued as if singing a song, “Alastor only like things that entertains him. He never commits. He never cares. He doesn’t even have a heart to care! He’s so powerful because he has no room for ridicious things like love. The love he has is only for himself. Alastor is just a selfish heartless motherf—”
“Shut up!” You turned to her, a deep scowl on your face
“This is gonna be good.” Lucifer whispered to the others watching, “But bad for her. Yeah.”
“Shut you annoying f- mouth.” You snapped, unaware that your hair leviated a bit from your rage. “You don’t know how lucky you are to have a friend like Alastor. Alive and dead. But what do you do? You use Alastor’s name just for the fun of it and for your benefit. You just use it! How can you use your friendship with him like this! What’s wrong with your stupid tiny head?! In Hell, you’re supposed to treasure what you have. Not abuse it.”
Mimzy scoffed, “You think you’re so good? So righteous. Well, you would have been up there, now wouldn’t you. Don’t think you’re any better.” She smirked, “In Hell, we use everything and anything to our advantage.” Another gasp came and she covered her mouth, “Oh wait, could it be?” She got close to you, “Haha, you being so defensive and triggered by all this. You really actually did fall for him.”
“I love him.”
“Wait? Couldn’t hear you, sugar—”
“I love Alastor.” You repeated firmly and loudly
“What was that?”
Getting annoyed, you turned to the direction where the question came from. Perhaps it was all this anger in your system that made you slow to realize, “I said,” That you were now face to face with Alastor. “I love you!”
Note: This part's major focus has been mentioned in an ask already. And since it's confirmed that you and Alastor are dating in the latest asks and requests, I'm putting this scene in more detail since asks are trivia for the story
P.S. There's something new planned for future chapters~ Remember that lover and friend mentioned? OCs might be appearing cause I can't do rando short forms. Still thinking... You're thoughts? Or should I just end this series?

Yandere! Nanami Kento x GN! Reader
CWs: Kidnapping, implied stalking, obsessive behavior, possessive behavior, domestic fantasies i.e Nanami wants reader as a domestic partner (“house spouse”), slight mention of death
thinking about yandere! nanami kento who is so incredibly lonely.
nanami, who is used to the solitude, never having made an effort to get close to any one after the death of his best friend. nanami, who was stuck in an endless cycle of work, sleep, eat, and repeat. even after he had quit his corporate job and dedicated his time to hunting down curses and exorcising evil, there always seemed to be a perpetually empty place by his side. he was bereft of companionship, and the place inside him that longed for it had grown numb after years of being repressed.
but then suddenly you’re there. in that empty spot, filing it up like it had always belonged to you. his neighbor, who he had met by chance not long after you moved in. well, technically not his neighbor, as you were renting the place out for only a year. he had met you when one of your packages ended up on his doorstep, which gave him an excuse to introduce himself. he would often catch you going in and out of your apartment, and you always greeted each other, making polite conversation before going your separate ways.
you had spontaneously invited him over at a time when nanami had struggled through a particularly bad day and looked as if he had been through hell. with him sitting in your living room and drinking the tea you had prepared, you sheepishly admitted that you didn’t know many people around this area. it was a bit lonely, you explained, not having anyone to spend time with after work, as you could only contact your friends through your phone for the time being. you smiled at him as you asked if he would like to be your friend and get to know each other better.
to say that nanami wasn’t somewhat shocked would be an understatement—he had never had one of his neighbors reach out to him before. hell, even his coworkers had always steered clear of him, as he knew that his reserved nature came off as unapproachable. but you were different. you seemed sweet, and your offer was genuine. and it would be nice to get out of the house more, he thought—
at his considering silence, you hastily backtracked and explained that you understand if he felt uncomfortable with your proposition. he shook his head, assuring you that he would be delighted to spend time with you, knowing that he would benefit from getting out of the house more himself.
and being lonely? he could sympathize with that.
he begins to feel attracted to you as he spends more and more time with you, bringing along many new feelings with it. a sense of protectiveness, a craving for intimacy, and the novel urge to get home quickly and safely for reasons over than avoiding overtime—or worse case scenario, surviving till the end of the day. he keeps your apartment floor—at this point it was probably the entire building—void of curses, destroying flyheads the minute he sees them.
from then on he observes you relentlessly, even outside your frequent chats and hang outs. he ends up falling for you hard. this is the first time he’s ever been in love, and the warm feeling that fills up his chest every time he sees you is getting addictive.
he finds himself getting antsy whenever you work late or cancel on him suddenly because you can’t avoid overtime from your boss. he’s never minded you working before, as much as he loathes it himself, but he hates to see you stuck in a similar position that he was in the past.
fuck—he wants a house spouse, he realizes. that’s what he wants you to be. not only would it keep you safe, tucked away in his spacious apartment, but it would also fulfill his new desire of wanting to have someone waiting for him when he got home. nanami had never thought about marriage before—his job was too dangerous and he wasn’t selfish enough to expose someone to the pain and suffering that would come with him dying from a curse.
but here he is, acting completely out of character, blushing while thinking about what it would be like for you to send him off with a kiss each morning and greet him with a kiss as he walks through the door every night. it’s borderline insane, but the idea becomes more and more appealing the more he thinks about it.
and, well. all of that working wasn’t for nothing now. he had plenty of money, all that he had managed to hoard over years of soul-sucking labor that made him trade a generous paycheck for peace of mind. he thinks now about how he coveted it so much, and yet there was no one to share it with, no greater point but to collect it and maintain the facade of stability it granted him.
clearly, he was lacking goals. he sees that now, when he realizes that what better way to spend it than on the person most precious to him? it would be best used to spoil you, to keep you safe, and there was so much that he could give. so much that he could use to keep you healthy, safe, and happy
that’s why, the next time you come over to his place, you don’t end up leaving.

The Fig & The Lime (The Surprise, Part 5)
Emily Prentiss x fem!reader Warnings: pregnancy times, established relationship, fluff on fluff on fluff, vague references to sex, church times and references to religious trauma Word Count: 2.1k
Summary: As your risk of a miscarriage goes down, you and Emily decide it's time to start telling people about the baby. You decide to start with the hardest person: Emily's mom. And her reaction prompts you both to make your first major parenting decision together.
Week 11: The Fig
You couldn't remember sleeping more in your entire life. You felt like you’d reverted to infancy: eat, sleep, repeat. No matter how long you slept, it was never enough. By 10:00 AM, you needed a nap. Then again at 2:00. Maybe 4:00 as well. And at night? You were lucky to make it ‘til 8:00.
So Emily wasn’t surprised when she got back from her week-long case and found you fast asleep, curled up on your side of the bed, your glasses crooked on your nose and your thumb stuck in a book. She smiled lovingly at you, pausing just to stare at you for a minute, just to watch your chest move up and down, to listen to your little huffs of breath.
Emily set her go-bag down, removed the dirty clothes, and threw them in the closet hamper basketball-style. One missed and landed nearby on the floor. She shrugged, stupidly relieved that you’d been asleep for it. You would’ve made fun of her for missing.
She crept over to you, trying not to make a sound, and leaned down to brush your hair out of your face. She gently removed your glasses and set them on your nightstand, then slid the book out of your hands, careful to hold your place. Emily leaned down to place a soft kiss on your head, standing back to stare at you again.
She shook her head and smiled. How many years had you been together? Was it five now? Six? And she still got butterflies every time she saw you sleeping in her bed. There was just something so vulnerable about you when you were asleep, something precious and rare and beautiful. For Emily, sleeping around someone meant incredible trust, it meant believing that you were safe when you could do nothing to protect yourself. Emily didn’t feel that kind of safe around anyone except you. So it made her heart melt every time she found you sleeping, every time you let yourself drift off, every time she came home and you didn’t wake up because your body and mind felt so safe with her. Emily loved making you feel safe. And, to her, moments like this were the physical manifestation of a mission accomplished.
Emily took a quick shower, washing away the grime–physical and mental–of a week spent hunting a gang of serial killers. She put on a soft t-shirt and sweatpants and crawled into bed, calm flooding her body knowing that it was Saturday afternoon. She’d have the rest of today and all of tomorrow to do nothing but be with you.
As she wrapped her arm around your waist and pulled you to her, you breathed in sharply and blinked. For a moment, Emily felt guilty for waking you, but the guilt disappeared when you turned your head around, bleary-eyed and beaming.
“You’re home,” you breathed, voice raspy. You turned around so you could face her, then wrapping your body around hers and holding her as tightly as a snake, your head nestled in the crook of her neck. "You smell good," you mumbled.
Emily smiled. Half-awake, half-asleep you was her favorite because you were less self-conscious than usual. All-awake Y/N would feel a little embarrassed about wanting to be so, so close to her. All-asleep Y/N would have been, well, asleep. But halfway Y/N… Emily loved the way you pressed your body into hers, like you were making yourself a nest, a home, right there in her arms.
She kissed the top of your head, running her hands through your hair.
“I missed you,” Emily whispered. “Go back to sleep, love.”
“Wait, I have to show you something,” you groaned, stretching a bit and turning to lie on your back.
You took her hand and guided it down your body.
Emily raised her eyebrows and smirked. “Y/N, I’m pretty sure I’ve already seen this, but I’m happy to take another look if you want.”
You whacked her playfully, still not quite awake.
“No, you perv,” you grumbled. You pressed her hand down just above your pelvic bone. “Do you feel that?”
“It’s kind of hard, like a… like a bouncy ball or something.”
You nodded, smiling, your eyes drifting shut again. “It’s the womb.”
“It is!?” Emily sat up and crouched down above your belly, eager to see–though there wasn’t really much to see yet. She pressed on the spot gently with her fingers, staring at it wonderingly.
The baby’s in there, she thought, giddily. My baby’s right there! She placed a kiss there, for you and for the baby.
“Does it feel weird?” she asked, glancing up at you when you didn’t answer. Your mouth hung open and you snored softly. She smiled; you’d fallen back asleep.
She kissed the spot where the baby was one more time, then kissed your shoulder, your cheek, your forehead. She manhandled you a bit so that you were snug in her arms, the way she knew you liked to be, even if you didn’t like admitting it. Emily wrapped one arm around you, and with the other, placed her hand over your womb, feeling the little rubber ball like it was magic and might disappear at any moment. But she knew the real magic was you, your body knitting together a child right there, right below her hand.
Week 12: The Lime
You glared at yourself in front of the mirror, tugging on your maxi skirt.
“You look beautiful, honey,” Emily said, leaning down to kiss your cheek. “Zip me up?”
You sighed and zipped up Emily’s dress, a red-and-white floral number, momentarily distracted from your own outfit by how truly stunning Emily looked.
“I wanted to wear a suit,” you grumbled. “You know I like suits better.”
“Well, Little Lime disagreed,” Emily replied, trying to hide a smile.
You weren’t showing yet, not really, but your custom suits didn’t fit anymore, and you were furious. It was Easter Sunday. You were going to Mass with Emily’s mom.
Neither of you were religious, but it was important to Elizabeth and, while Emily and her mom weren’t very close, Emily figured that once or twice a year, she didn’t mind seeing her mom–and she actually kind of liked going to Mass.
“You know I like to look extra gay when we go to church,” you complained as Emily pulled on a pair of heels. “What if they think we’re just friends?”
Emily chuckled, taking your hand and kissing the side of your head. “Baby, I’m pretty sure no one’s gonna think we’re just friends.”
You locked the apartment door behind you, still not entirely convinced.
“I mean, I can make out with you during the homily if it’ll make you feel better,” Emily teased.
“No.” You shook your head. “Let’s just get this over with.”
“You’re still okay with telling my mom about the baby?”
“Yeah,” you decided. “It’s time. Plus, when would we see her again?”
Emily shrugged. “I don’t know… New Year’s?”
You scoffed. “Yeah, I don’t think we should show up at Christmas Eve Mass with a surprise three-month-old.”
And with that, you headed to the one place you’d always assumed you’d never return to: church.
Elizabeth hugged Emily stiffly as you slid into the pew, then hugged you a little less stiffly. It wasn’t that she was homophobic exactly, it’s that she would have preferred Emily settle down with a man instead of a woman. But she liked you. You had a hard time with her, mostly because you knew that Emily, despite growing up with enough money to support about eight of your family, hadn’t had a happy childhood with her mom. But you did your best to be kind and gracious, for Emily’s sake. Emily didn’t want to be close to her mom, but she did want her in her life, and that was enough for you to try your best.
Emily had a complicated relationship with church. You’d grown up Baptist, not Catholic, so the solemnity and tradition of Catholicism was foreign to you. Despite being an atheist, Emily still found comfort in attending the occasional Mass. It was the repetition, she told you. The familiarity of it. You didn’t understand, not really. When you’d left religion, you had never wanted to step foot in a church again. But Emily was not you. There were parts of it that were home to her–as much of a home as she’d ever known moving around so much. And even though you didn’t understand, you honored and respected it.
You wondered, as the sounds of Latin and the smell of incense mingled around you, if Emily would want the baby to be baptized. You hadn’t discussed it. Religion wasn’t something you discussed often. You guessed you’d be okay with it, but you were adamantly opposed to raising a child to believe in God. Your own childhood had been filled with fiery stories of hell, tales of martyrdom that venerated toxic self-sacrifice, and the crushing, shameful, pervasive belief that something was inherently wrong with you–something that God had to fix.
You would never, never let your child believe that something was fundamentally wrong with her. Never. You wanted her to grow up believing that she was fundamentally right just the way she was. You made a mental note to discuss all this with Emily later. You assumed you’d be on the same page, since neither of you believed in God, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
After the service, Elizabeth took you out to eat at a very nice Italian restaurant. She ordered a bottle of wine for the table, and as the waiter leaned down to pour your glass, you tapped his arm.
“Just water for me, thank you,” you told him.
Elizabeth raised her eyebrows, looking back and forth between you and Emily.
“Something to share?” she asked.
Emily exhaled deeply and smiled at you. She was nervous, you could tell. She took your hand and looked at her mom.
“Yes, Mom. We are… having a baby. Y/N’s pregnant!”
“Well,” her mom responded, taking a sip of wine. Emily’s face fell. You could have slapped Elizabeth. “That’s… that’s excellent, dear. Congratulations.”
“Thanks,” Emily mumbled, and you squeezed her leg under the table. Most of the time she was so good at predicting her mom’s reactions. She was used to being let down and sidelined, used to her mom being disappointed in her. But sometimes, like anyone would, she let hope get the best of her, and got hurt all over again. Of course, Elizabeth had been lukewarm about your pregnancy. She’d been lukewarm about your marriage, lukewarm about your relationship. Hell, she was lukewarm about Emily in general.
You were glad that the baby–and Emily–had one side of the family that was truly over the moon about all of it. Your parents, you knew, would be giddy at the prospect of another grandchild. And your siblings would be thrilled to have a new niece or nephew. And Emily had told you before, often, that your family felt more family to her than hers ever had.
Later, when you came home, you cuddled up to Emily on the couch, leaning back into her chest. She had a faraway look in her eyes, absentmindedly running her fingers through your hair.
“Are you okay?” you asked quietly.
She sighed. “I don’t know what I expected.”
“You expected your mom to be happy you’re having a baby. That’s a reasonable expectation.”
“Not with her.”
You turned your head back to look at her, placing a hand on her cheek. “Emily. You deserve a family who celebrates with you. It’s not fair that she doesn’t do that. It’s okay to be upset.”
She seemed lost in thought for a while. You took one of her hands and played with her fingers.
“I don’t think we should go to Mass anymore.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Are you sure?”
She nodded. “I don’t want him growing up in that.”
You felt your heart unclench a bit. All those earlier anxieties, unfounded.
“I don’t want you to feel like you’re losing something though," you told her. "You always said Mass felt like home.”
She pressed her face into your neck, kissing your shoulder. “It did for a long time. But I have other things that feel like home now. Like you. And Little Lime. And the BAU.”
Your heart surged. It was an honor to be the place where Emily felt at home. “No Mass then,” you said.
“No Mass.”
And just like that, your first big parenting decision together had been made.

COMMENTS on 2x07 - SPOILERS
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . *FIRST OFF: GOD HAVE I CRIED *No breath, no relief, all the pain This… contains a lot of swearing. . . . . . . .
The fucking rat box - there is a significant time gap between Claudia being shoved in there and her on stage. I BET that will become "that" time frame later, when Armand.... finally gets to it.
Btw, the iron boxes... an iron entrapment. I'm not sure if deliberate, but there is a piece of lore from Blood Communion that could come into play here IF they should pick it up again, later on
I’m glad they made the mental influence clear right away. Like… it’s not even subtle. And Lestat acting weird AF isn’t subtle either. It’s clear. It’s scripted. It’s the “last play”. It’s been “designed, and rehearsed.”
The Achilles’ heel slashed is so… vicious
Louis sensing and smelling Lestat… oh honey
Like that they referred to “the old place” for the other theater
Them making him swear on her diary is sooooo…💀
Santiago is so PLEASED when Lestat returns to script lol… we don’t see it but I wonder how many of the jury it took
A story of love... 💀
They are using the music box music … the fuckers
Awwww Armand being “punished” to watch… nawwwwww glad Daniel is not buying it either... and by Sam, the playwright... with a scythe... nawww. Okay, everybody buying that after that little restaurant display raise their hands, lmao.
That Lestat sleeping in the dirt is just... wrong. We already KNOW he returned to Paris twice. Another hint!!!
The repeated hint at the “ancient blood”… very on the nose
Their eye contact
Them trying to make it seem as if Louis “hunted” Lestat… lmao. As if Louis could have if Lestat would not have wanted him to????
Santiago prompting Lestat…. they seem to have pushed the narrative into his mind
on a random note: the blue contacts look so much better this season???
Oh…. Lestat SNAPPING at “fags” - loved it - so fantastically intense and creepy
“where lies their disgust now”?
Lestat making that man feel what he feels - WHY didn’t you just show this to Louis?????
THE HAIR CHANGED!!! There is that strand again! And the perfect hair in other scenes!!! INFLUENCED!! Manipulated!! I’ve been fucking saying.
OOOOHHHHH MY GOD Claudia’s turning … Louis knowing about the laws, did Louis really promise to stay???? I mean that’s just bargaining, and Louis just… begging… oh god, AND THEN THE FUCKING CUT TO ARMAND’s LOOK OH YOU FUCKER
“you were manipulated into it”… yeah. Say it, Santiago
God. Lestat there. And Louis the way he sees him.
Lestat confirming that Louis did not share affection with him anymore, as said, for years
Yeah, no, Lestat’s pose there for the Antoinette reveal is totally… natural 💀
God, Claudia cackling at Lestat saying “she’s the best of my vampiric self”… 😭
Ep5 revisit. Uhhhhh boy did they expand on what we already knew. And I KNEW something happened in the coffin room that made Lestat snap!! I KNEW IT! Okay, they kept the weird logistics of the fall (for now at least), but… yeah. This makes at least… more sense than before, I guess. Also, Lestat fully breaking script and admitting it. KNOWING he had hurt Louis there. Knowing. (I still stand by the Amel theory for the outside part and the comment in 1x06. Since they are taking from Prince Lestat….)
“A wolf congratulated for not killing her pup”!!!!!!!!
Louis is wearing something other than black again!!!!
“and then - something real” - and Armand chiming in… how… inconspicuous 💅🏼
A Stoning. Indeed.
I’m not sure how much I believe of them waking Lestat tbh… like... with the supposed trial rehearsals... and the crossing over... nawwwww
That eating blood with a spoon is so… inefficient. Like, they drink so much more???? What kind of blood is that to savor it like that? Must be special??? Or it's just show.
Oh god. Madeleine choosing Claudia. She is my coven. God.
Ugh. Lestat breaking script for Claudia. AND BY GOD I HOPE CLAUDIA FULFILLS THAT PROMISE
Oohhhhwwwwwww and Armand working SO HARD ON SAVING LOUIS!!!!! YOU LITTLE…. GNAAAHHHHH I don’t even have a word. "bites something"
God the pebbles/rocks. The entombment. And the SAME stones at the Dubai tree…
Lestat, swaying on his feet
So. Armand tells us of Claudia facing her death bravely. And defiantly. And the stare of shock and pain on Lestat’s face. Armand… the last to know the truth… for now. -.-
PREVIEW
And Armand getting Louis out.. afterwards. When… the coven did not care anymore, right??????? Mh hmmm.
Louis getting their asses
Louis going to kill Lestat??? MHHHH
EPISODE INSIDER
"it’s a fake setup - props in a play". Yeah. THAT.
Claudia doesn’t give an inch - "she knows she’s right"
“She has Lestat’s blood - if they do anything, it’s come back with a vengeance”!!!!!!!!!!! YES PLEASE 😭
Claudia’s death represents Louis’ last connection to this world
“[Claudia] was a brilliant vampire.
IN - fucking - DEED
God, what an episode.
I am... somewhat irritated that the reshot the turning and did not really revisit murder night, because the discrepancies there still stand. Except they have always intended to return to it in s3, which might make sense. Still. A bit weird, all of it. And Lestat breaking out of the control and script to admit to hurting Louis. 😭
God.

Yandere AIB Boys reacting to the death of their S/O
Warnings: Death - Violence - Delusional Characters - Angst - MDI - +18
♤ Chishiya
Will blame you at first. He cant deal with the feeling of losing you. He knew you were not strong or the most intelligent one in the games. Thats why he decided to pick you from the start and use you for his plans. Ending with...feelings or whatever this was it was not part of his plans.
After he returns to the beach he will decide to be alone in his room. There are things from you in there, things he stole from you for his own entreteinment. Will have his head repeating the moment of your death over and over again.
If it was caused because of another player then he will take revenge once he sees them but he is cold and tries to have his head on the ground so he will probably suffer in silence and dont take active action. You were part of his plan, nothing more, but you were his, thats a fact.
♤ Arisu
Loses his composture right there. Will go in denial mode and someone will have to shake him and take him away from your body. He does not care what caused your death he blames himself for not being closer, faster....whatever could have changed your end.
♤ Banda Sunato
Whoever or whatever caused your death....they are dead too. Banda knows he never loved you, that its all an obssesion he has, but thats not important. Its a hit at his ego that you end dead when being with him. He will take revenge during the game or after it. He may track down the ones who killed you and pay them a visit.
♤ Tatta
Poor boy cant understand what happened. One moment you were by his side and the next you are dead. Tatta its a delusional yandere, he believed you were his soulmate, that nothing could separate both of you. He probably forced the relationship. But seeing you dead...it breaks him a lot. For the rest of the days he cant eat or sleep his mind is pagued with memories of you. He also cant bring himself to hurt others...at least not alone. Will try and bribe someone to help him look out for the ones who caused your death to give them the same end.
♤ Karube
The one who acts and later asks. If it was because of another player he is fightning them the second after he sees your body. Wont stop till they are dead too or at least too wounded that he knows for sure they will be dead in the next games.
Probably will take your body with him and make you a small funeral, his friends may find it strange but wont say a thing knowing how much he loved you to levels of insanity.
♤ Aguni
He has so much control over his emotions that he does not react at first. He even kills the ones responsable for your death with no emotion. But inside he is furious. It took him so much time to have you by his side as a partner and now you are just gone. May go down into madness blaming himself, images of you may appear at him during the day making his job at the beach harder.
♤ Kuzuryu
Much like Aguni he does not show a reaction that indicates your death affected him.
But it did.
He does not have to go to a lot of games so most likely you went alone and died. He would blame Hatter but only in his mind. He knows this could happen he was never prepared for it. If some of the militars were in the game with you and got back he will ask what happened to them. He will suffer alone and in silence.
♤ Niragi
Has the worse reaction from all of them. Niragi hates everyone and everything and you were his only light and good thing. The moment he sees your dead body or your death he breaks in rage. Will hunt down whatever killed you or kill anyone near by. Wont ever mention you out loud again and if someone dares to speak about you he is getting them beaten up.

“mama! daddy! up!” nima, your youngest, shouts at you, jumping up and down with excitement.
“shh, don’t wake them! they’ll be up soon, be patient.” tsantu says, holding his arm out, signaling his siblings to back up.
she shakes the collective lump in front of her that is you curled up to your mate, his arms wrapped around you in a comfortable embrace.
“nima…” neteyam says groggily. “let mama sleep, please.” he pats her arm gently.
“for whyyy!” she juts her tiny lip out in protest.
txonuk is playing with the hand me down toy that aunt kiri and uncle lo’ak gifted your children, flying it around your mates head.
“the sun is up, so we must be up!” he yells, running in small circles as he swings the toy around.
“we want to play ikrans with you and mama!” se’ayl says, flapping her own arms up and down.
you hide your face in the crook of your mates neck, placing a gentle kiss to his skin.
“goodmorning” you mumble against his skin, eyes still closed.
he chuckles as he lowers his lips to yours, kissing them softly. “good morning, mama.”
“ewwwwwww! they’re SMOOCHING!” your children collectively squeal, running away from you two as they giggle.
you sit up then, stretching your arms. “we can play ikrans, little lovies. but we must eat first, okay?”
nima starts jumping up and down with excitement, while se’ayl claps, and tsantu and txonuk yell “HOORAY!”
each of them walk the small distance to grab a fruit from the basket in the corner of your marui. sitting in a circle, you help your youngest peel the flesh back on her yovo fruit. neteyam hands you a banana fruit, as he sits with his own. your children eat quickly, finishing their fruits before you.
“and what do we do with our peels?” you ask, as they each stand to bring their peels outside.
tsantu digs a small hole for him and his siblings to place their peels in, returning them back to the soil they grew from.
you look down at your youngest, who’s struggling to finish her fruit.
“nima, are you all finished? can you take one more big bite for me?”
she shakes her tiny head no, holding the fruit out to you. “all done!”
you split the remaining fruit left, handing the other piece to your mate, as you get up to bring the peel outside. your three other children come running back in, arms spread wide as they mimic that of an ikran.
“can we play now, mama?” se’ayl asks.
“pleaseeeee?” txonuk begs, as they run around you in a circle.
you smile, spreading your own arms out now, slowly flapping them as you run to the other side of your marui.
se’ayl follows you, mimicking your every move, giggling every step.
neteyam scoops tsantu up in his arms, carefully guiding him around the hut as tsantu’s arms are spread wide, laughing as he holds them up.
nima follows you and se’ayl, frantically flapping her arms whilst jumping up and down, unable to contain her excitement.
txonuk follows neteyam, holding onto his toruk toy, “flying” it around, patiently waiting his turn to go next.
neteyam raises tsantu to your face, just enough where you could place a soft kiss to your son’s head.
he sets tsantu down then, picking up txonuk, repeating the process.
the sound of lo’ak’s voice rings through your ear piece, breaking you away from the precious moment with your children.
“bro, come on, dad and i are waiting for you. we have to train the new warriors today, remember?”
neteyam sighs, setting txonuk on his feet.
he pages lo’ak back, saying “i’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“dad?” se’ayl questions, hands behind her back.
“yes, my little flower?” neteyam answers, grabbing his bow and slinging it around his shoulder.
“…can you stay home with us today?” she asks, rubbing her arm and staring at her feet. it was only when she looked up that you both realized she was crying, shattering both of your hearts in two.
“oh, se’ayl…” you frown, kneeling down to tuck her hair behind her ear. neteyam also kneels, gently wiping away her small tears.
“i cannot today, my little love. i have to train the new warriors of our clan with grandpa and uncle lo’ak. but, if you behave for your mother today, i promise we can go swimming at the creek when i return. okay?”
she sniffles, nodding as she wipes her own eyes with the back of her hand. he kisses her forehead, wiping away the last of her tears.
“the day will go by fast! i promise you. i’ll be home before you know it.” he kisses the other childrens foreheads, before planting a passionate kiss to your lips.
“i love you.” he says against your lips, before planting another quick kiss to them.
“i love you more.” you state, smiling against his lips.
“impossible.” he shakes his head before saying “i’ll see you all tonight! behave for your mother!” he yells as he disappears into the brush of the forest.
“mama?” txonuk questions, looking at his own bow in the corner.
“yes, my son?” you say, brushing the baby hairs out of his face.
“can we go hunting? like dad does?” he pleads, looking up at you with his big, innocent eyes.
“hmmm…..i suppose we can. you have to promise to stay close to me, though. understood?”
“yes mama!” both boys grab their bows, followed by se’ayl. nima is just excited to come along for the fun of it, not that she was old enough to participate, anyway.
securing the flap closed to your marui, you lead your children into the thick forest. you all hold hands as you arrive at the spot you had in mind. about twenty five feet away, there was a moss-coated tree that you’ve come across before, making a perfect practice target.
you reach in the bag you packed, for three small arrows that your kids could use. handing them each one, you stand to the side, holding nima on your hip.
“all right, my little loves. see the tree over there, with the moss covering it? that’s going to be your practice target for today.”
each of them raise the arrow to their bow, drawing the elastic back, waiting for your “okay”.
“now one at a time, please.” you say, swaying nima back and forth on your hip, who’s playing with the feathers around your neck.
being the good older brother he is, tsantu says
“se’ayl, you can go first.”
you smile as you kneel next to se’ayl, setting nima down gently.
“all right, se’ayl. lift your elbow slightly, that’s it! just like that. go ahead.”
se’ayl takes her shot, her arrow landing just below the soft moss on the tree.
“good job, se’ayl! that was a great shot!” you say, clapping for your oldest daughter.
she smiles as she steps aside, letting txonuk go next.
“i don’t need help, mama.” he says, confidently pulling his bow back.
“all right, my ‘itan. go ahead.”
his arrow lands to the left of se’ayls, making his shoulders slouch. “aww, man.”
“it’s okay, that was great! just remember to keep your elbow a bit higher next time, okay?” you say as you brush one of his curls behind his ear.
“okay, mama.” txonuk sighs, taking a seat, with his hands on either side of his face, pouting.
he glances over at nima, who’s playing with a plant.
“tickles!” nima squeals, yanking her hand away from the plant, just to stick it back in.
“nima, touch this one, like this!” txonuk says, lifting himself up before poking at a helicoradian, causing it to coil up.
nima giggles, going to touch the one next to it. “again!”
“nima, stay close to mama.” you warn her, as your focus goes back to tsantu.
“go on, tsantu. your turn now.” you say gently.
your oldest son’s arrow flies exactly where you had intended, right in the center of the soft moss.
“good job, tsantu!! a perfect shot, just like your father.”
tsantu smiles proudly before going to retrieve his arrow. se’ayl follows him, grabbing hers as well.
“txonuk, don’t you want to retrieve your arrow and try again?” you glance around, spotting him poking all of the helicoradians with nima. you give a half smile, watching the two of them giggle.
as the last helicoradian coils up, you see an angry viperwolf hiding behind it. baring its teeth, it snarls at txonuk and nima, slowly inching closer.
you immediately launch yourself in front of your children, crouching on all fours. you hiss back at it, reaching for your knife, your tail upright. without taking your eyes off the animal, you speak to your oldest.
“tsantu. keep your siblings back, please. do not move a muscle.”
“mama!” nima cries out, her arms stretched towards you.
“shh! mawey, nima!” se’ayl speaks, in a hushed tone.
you inch closer to the viperwolf, hissing, in an attempt to make it back off. it wasn’t letting up, though, and continued to move closer to you.
it launches itself towards you then, sending you both tumbling through the forest.
“call dad!” tsantu hits txonuk’s chest, grabbing his bow and arrow, running after you.
txonuk stands with se’ayl and nima, speaking quickly as he presses a finger to his throat comm.
“dad?? dad it’s txonuk, w-we need help! it’s mom.”
“txonuk, slow down! what is happening?” neteyam immediately answers.
“mom took us hunting, and…and there’s a viperwolf! tsantu and mom went after it.”
neteyam’s heart drops as he hears the growl of the viperwolf in the distance.
“i must go, it’s y/n and my children!” he yells to lo’ak and jake, before taking off in the woods.
meanwhile, whilst you were pinned underneath the viperwolf’s paws, you notice something sticking out of its side.
a banshee of paradise spine, lodged about four inches in the wolf’s glistening skin.
that explains everything, you thought to yourself.
the foaming at the mouth, the dilated pupils, why it was attacking you and your children in broad daylight.
while attempting to reach for your knife, you grab it, only to drop it in the dirt beneath you, needing both hands to keep its snapping jaw away from you.
shifting your legs, you kick its face away, frantically feeling around for your knife.
you cry out as its teeth sink into your leg, panicking as you fight to get it off of you.
“mama!” tsantu calls out, as he raises his arrow to the viperwolf.
just then, another arrow hits the creature, causing it to collapse on top of you.
“daddy!” nima points, to the arrow now lodged in the viperwolf’s side.
se’ayl and txonuk look to where nima is pointing, seeing that it is indeed neteyam’s arrow.
“dad!” they both cry out, watching as neteyam sprints through the forest, hopping over a moss covered log to get to you.
“y/n?!” he pushes the viperwolf off of you, carefully pulling you out from underneath it.
“ma’teyam?…” you ask, before a sharp pain shoots through you, causing you to cry out.
“yes, my love. i’m here, i’m here.” he assures you, gently picking you up, wiping dirt from your face.
“tsantu? se’ayl? txonuk! nima!’” you cry as you whip your head around, frantically searching for your children.
“shhh, shh. they’re all here.” neteyam calmly says, walking you over to them.
“are you hurt? are you okay??” he asks each and every one of them, all their answers the same.
“…is mama okay?” txonuk asks, glancing up at you in your mates arms.
“she’s bleeding!” se’ayl states, pointing to your leg, which was indeed dripping with blood.
“come. we must go see grandmother at once.”
neteyam walks behind your children, who are walking in pairs of twos, holding each other’s hands. tsantu is holding se’ayl’s hand, while txonuk is holding nima’s.
“‘m so sorry” you mumble against your mates chest, as you begin shivering, yet sweating at the same time.
“shh, we’re almost there, y/n. we’re okay, you’re okay.” he reassures you, placing a kiss to your forehead.
tsantu and txonuk hold the flaps to mo’at’s marui, as neteyam carries you inside, setting you down on a cot used for injured warriors.
your shivers get worse by the second, and sweat begins to drip down your neck.
mo’at looks you over, concerned. rushing to your side, she asks “what happened here!” demanding an answer from her grandson.
“tsantu.” neteyam says, looking over at his son. “what happened??”
“the viperwolf was hiding, it jumped out and attacked mama. it had a red spike stuck to its side…and it bit mama.”
“oh no…a red spike? a red spike, is that-”
neteyam is cut off by his grandmother, as she answers
“a banshee of paradise spine. they are filled with poison. it must have caused the viperwolf to go mad.” she states, reaching for her bowl of syekalin flowers.
grabbing a wet cloth and bowl of water, mo’at works to clean your infected wound.
“ow! it burns, ‘teyam it burns!” you cry out, tears streaming down your cheeks as you shake uncontrollably from your chills.
he holds your hand in his, pressing a damp cloth to your forehead. “i know, i know. mawey(calm), little one. it will be over soon.”
mo’at presses a flower to each puncture wound you have, holding them in place.
“the flower absorbs the toxin. she will find relief soon.”
after a few moments, mo’at removes the flowers. grabbing four new ones, she places them over your wounds again, but wraps a cloth around your leg so they don’t shift around.
“keep an eye on her wound.” mo’at states, before going to see her great-grandchildren in the other room.
through your puffy eyes, you glance up at your mate, squeezing his hand.
“i’m so sorry.” you choke out, more tears flowing now.
“sorry? my mate, you didn’t do anything wrong.” he reassures you, rubbing his thumb along your cheek.
“i took them h-hunting, they w-wanted to practice.” you say through sobs, still delirious from the bite.
“my love, how were you to know you would be approached by a rabid viperwolf? it is all right, the children are safe.” he kisses your hand before speaking again. “you are safe.”
“i w-want to go h-home.” you cry out, squeezing his hand again.
“okay, okay. let’s go.” he picks you up gently, cradling you in his arms as he walks the few feet to where your children were.
you close your eyes, exhausted from today’s events.
“come, my little warriors. it is time to go home.” neteyam instructs, holding the flap of the marui open.
“wah-we-a?” nima questions, the word foreign to her.
“come on, nima.” tsantu takes his younger sisters hand in his, leading her out of mo’ats marui. se’ayl and txonuk follow, also holding each other’s hands.
neteyam thanks his grandmother before beginning the short walk back to your own marui.
“so.” neteyam starts “how was your hunting trip, little ones?”
“we took turns shooting our arrows, mama helped us!” se’ayl says, swinging her arm with txonuk’s.
“mama didn’t help me!” txonuk exclaims.
“me and ‘nuk poke pwants!” nima says, giggling.
“nima and txonuk were touching all of the helicoradians.” tsantu says, opening the flap to your marui.
neteyam chuckles as all the kids file in, using one arm to hold you and the other to tie up your marui flap for the night.
bringing you over to where you all sleep, he sets you down gently, as your children lay next to you.
you open your eyes, to all your children peacefully lying beside you and your mate.
you bend down to kiss each of their foreheads, before saying “goodnight, my little loves.”
“goodnight, mom. i love you.” [tsantu]
“goodnight, momma. sleep tight. love you.” [se’ayl]
“night, mama. love you.” [txonuk]
“night night! wove wou!” nima says as she brings her hand to her lips, blowing you a kiss, saying “muah!”
neteyam kisses you gently, wrapping his arms around you securely.
“goodnight, oeyä muntxatan.” (my mate) you whisper.
“goodnight, oeyä tstew syulang.” (my brave flower) he whispers back, intertwining his fingers with yours as you both drift off to sleep.

I hate to be that person however:
"Why are Dick and Babs together in comics? They're being forced together!"
Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon?
Yeah. A mystery.
But I guess, it might have a little something to do with the fact that back in 1995 both Dick and Barbara had returned to be firmly under control of the Bat office.
And in 1996 Chuck Dixon started writing them flirting with each other in Nightwing. And Devin Grayson wrote them having rooftop reminiscences on New Year's Eve where they told each other the same stories every year in DC Holiday Bash II. Which carried through to them flirting in Birds of Prey in 1999, and to having their first proper date on panel in Birds of Prey #8. And then shortly afterwards having them be very cosy in a dating way as Barbara patched Dick up in No Man's Land after he broke out of Blackgate.
And in 2000 we had the Hunt for Oracle crossover where Dick and Dinah had to work together to protect Barbara from Blockbuster's men coming to kill her.
And in 2001 Dick was sleeping over at Barbara's house and Barbara and Dinah had to rescue him when he was kidnapped by Shrike, and Babs was tucking little love notes in his gauntlet. And they had a favourite place to go for drives for a date and eat crab cakes in Joker: Last Laugh.
And in 2002 their contribution to Our Worlds at War involved Barbara and Dick travelling to another world and staking out a situation where they ended up making out by a fire. A lot.
And in 2003 we got Batgirl Year One which firmly retconned Dick and Babs into having dated in their teens.
And they KEPT dating until they officially paused their relationship in early 2004 while Dick's life was burning down around him, but they were STILL looking out for each other and when they officially bilaterally decided to break up with the other in Nightwing #100 and Birds of Prey #76 they left each other practically identical voicemails explaining how they loved the other one too much and their heads weren't in the right place and that it wasn't fair to be dating right now but they were still incredibly important to each other. As is obvious, in Birds of Prey #86 where Dick comes to Babs' house party in Metropolis and apologises and the two just hang out, sitting side by side.
And then in 2006 right as everyone expected Dick to be about to die in Infinite Crisis, Dick proposed to Babs and she accepted, because as I repeat this was written expecting Dick to DIE and even then the last thing they wanted to give him was to make sure that they were together.
And even when the engagement was broken off in 52 due to the rebellion saving Dick and Conner dying instead, Dick and Babs were still ready to drop anything for the other if one of them called, as seen by Dick coming at Babs' call when she faced off against Katrina Armstrong, or Dick taking Babs skydiving for her birthday in Origins and Omens in Nightwing #153. (I repeat, Origins and Omens, a series of shorts that were supposed to be Portending Doom moments or restating a character's background. Dick took Babs on a date)
And then during Reborn even while Dick and Babs were fighting with each other over the best direction for Gotham (and how hopeless the other's protege was) they still found time to get closer again, as seen in The Black Mirror and Birds of Prey #10.
And then it was the New 52 and while Barbara and Dick spent all 5 years of this Officially Not Dating, it was not because they didn't LOVE each other. Oh, no. In between having fond reminiscences of when they dated as teenagers while Robin and Batgirl, they were always checking in on each other, and the other's first phonecall. Babs bitterly mourned Dick's death and their lost future in Batgirl #30. Every time one of them gets out of a relationship they turn around and see the other, only to find THEM in a new relationship. But they're backing each other up and hanging out together and the UST just keeps building.
And then we get Convergence: Nightwing and Oracle in 2015 in a specific continuation of preboot, where Dick and Babs are together again (and basically getting to rerun No Man's Land) and in the face of alien nightmares and the end of the world, again, Dick proposes again and Barbara, after contemplation, accepts and they get married.
And then it's Rebirth and 2016 and Dick and Barbara are still circling around each other and turning up in the other's books for team ups and deep and meaningful conversations, and flashing back to their teens together (Batgirl #14-17 2016), and Dick has to talk seriously with Babs about What They Have Between Them before he has his relationship and pregnancy scare with Shawn Tsang and if either of them were simultaneously single it is obvious that it would very shortly be BACK ON.
(And then I am currently up to mid 2018 on my read and Dick is very shortly about to get head-injuried into being Ric for a while)
However I am aware that in Dark Nights: Death Metal Dick and Barbara get unofficially married again because it's the end of the world and they'd rather be married than not (are you sensing a theme here?).
And in Li'l Gotham, which is largely an adaption-continuation of preboot with some quirks of its own, Dick and Babs are very seriously dating and possibly may be married.
And in Juni Ba's The Boy Wonder Dick and Babs are so together they're discussing the shopping list while crime fighting.
Like, the answer to "why are Dick and Babs dating in Nightwing" is basically "have you read any of the last 28 years of Bat comics?" Because I dunno, but I have read almost every joint appearance of Dick and Babs between 1995 and 2018 so far and let me tell you they are either dating, lusting after each other with a lot of UST, or determinedly explaining to the other why they can't be together at this exact second because [obstacle].
It's not exactly hard up for precedent, folks.

in search of honor {series teaser}
Fandom: The Mandalorian / Alien VS Predator Crossover
Pairing: Younger! Din Djarin x Sacrifice! Reader
Summary: As Din prepares for the ritual of swearing the Creed, he contemplates his past and the future he wants to achieve. On another planet, the one his people are headed to, you are told of your role in the hunt to take place. In the pyramid that everyone knows means death for those that visit. A sacrifice to be made for the Mandalorian's to perform their ritual.
A/N: this is the first tentative writing i've done for the idea that i shared over here. it's just a silly little thing helping me destress from everything going on. no warnings, because i don't have any big ones outlined yet. essentially this is mando'a culture, but the creed is the hunt that takes place for the predators in the alien franchise to prove themselves, fighting aliens and all that fun stuff!
O'r echoy par ijaat.
In search of honor.
It echoes in his head as he stares at the helmet handed to him from the armorer. He's had it in his possession for nearly ten years now, to be worn at all times. never to be removed. not unless it was around his family, his partner, his children. All of which he doesn't have, having been adopted into the culture he is now devoted to. He had been raised by them, taken in when he had nothing. It's finally his turn to earn the title of Mandalorian, after years of training, of sparring, and learning the weapons praised for protection and defense. It's his turn to prove his worth and earn his signet. If he survives the trial, the hunt, devoted himself to the ritual and solidify himself as a true member of the people who had given him everything he could ever remember. Then he would have achieved what they anticipated of him, proved himself.
The weight of his armor had been heavy like his thoughts when he first dressed in them, the heavy padding beneath it adding even more to his then small frame, just a boy. He had barely been seven when he had first been given it, each year it increased in weight as more of the precious beskar was needed to decorate his growing body. But it's something he's gotten accustomed to. He now feels it's absence when he readies for sleep each night and before he dons it each morning. feels the loss of it when he's bathing and eating alone in his room. He's hopeful the thoughts become less so just as the beskar had. A comfort rather than a daunting new reality.
He wants to survive; he wants to earn his place. He only hopes he's strong enough.
It’s not a death sentence, it’s an honor.
And it’s now on his shoulders and the only path he sees to follow.
You're in disbelief. The summons that called you has you standing beside six other eldest children of the most renown families of the city, two other girls and four boys. All varying ages, the youngest is a boy, not even ten. The first child of the family you know heads the cultivation of food for the city. He's openly crying, though his father and your own ignore the shine of the tears on his still chubby cheeks.
It's an honor, a way to serve your family, your community. The sentiment is repeated over and over, in the face of each of you as you're dismissed. The day is tomorrow, has been marked for nearly as long as you've been alive. The pyramid in the middle of the desert an entire night's travel away, even on the fastest ship. In the midst of the never-ending desert that surrounds your city, the only on the planet. To ensure should anything go awry or the hunt go wrong, there was no risk for it to get to the population.
It will become your tomb as you heed the commands of your culture and family, as you lay still and allow for an alien creature to attach itself to you, to use you as a host for the chosen species the Mandalorian’s have honed over centuries and use in their own ritual. A way to prove that their training and fighting is either the best or to see the flaws in which they could improve them in order to continue to develop some of the strongest warriors in the galaxy.
It's a cruel cycle, that you must give your live for another to gain meaning and status in their own. you loathed the life you were born into, the injustice of it. the inability to have control over your own autonomy, raised like cattle and given without argument to further another's notion of honor.
An honor and a way to show your devotion to those that made it all possible for your way of life to flourish and thrive.
A sacrifice you should be happy to play a part in.
But it was death, that much you were certain of. Even as they dress you in the most extravagant fabrics you've ever felt against your skin. Soft silt, plush pelts, heavy jewelry. It was too much to handle, the meaning behind it all, the reason for it all.
It’s not an honor it’s a death sentence.
A weight on your shoulders, but you’d be damned if it’s the only path for you to take.

"Where are the rest of them?"
The man leading the team asked as he inspected the bloodied bodies of his colleagues, keeping an eye on the cold corpses, while the rest of the team spread out in the house, in search of Officer (L/N)(Y/N).
They were not very hopeful regarding her survival.
The backup force in the adjacent house, who were allotted to keep a watchful eye, were all found on the floor--cold and mangled. It was a direct dent in the department. A declaration of war.
His eyes scanned through the bed, trying to figure out any oddity in the darkness. Switching on the lights would alert the lurking enemies. And he could not afford to lose more of his team members. Tentatively, his gloved hands ran through the bloodied sheet, the room stunk of it.
Finally!
He found something, a square–no, rectangular device. Fishing it out from below the covers, he inspected the device. It seemed akin to a voice recorder. Marred with blood, the man had every reason to consider if (Y/N) deliberately left it there for them to find her, or maybe a clue...they were too late.
Wiping away the blood, he switched it on.
There were a few muffled sounds and some glitches initially before he could clearly hear–
There was a continuous huffing before he heard a gasp and a moan.
"Who do you belong to? Huh–?"
"You-Oh my–ah!"
"Why–I thought y-you fucking worked for the authorities."
"I—Jin-hah! That's notyou, Please!"
It was somewhere between a beg, a cry and a moan. The captain stood still, blood beginning to boil. But he continued to listen.
Officer (L/N)'s gasps and the sound of skin slapping were clear to him as much as what was transpiring in the recording.
"Please Jin—just surr–surrender, this was—"
Smack!
"Tch! Shut it already—You– and I both know that they are never seeing us again!"
"Oh–my—"
"Right Baby, just let g–go–shit! Too much of this fuc-fuking game–yeah? It'sokay..."
The sounds that followed felt like a slap on his face. No, it was a slap on the whole fucking department's face.
"I forgive you, love."
That was the final straw, the officer rose his hands to smash the bloody thing on the ground. Kim Seokjin messed with the wrong person, he fucking spit on the Department. He was going to hunt—
He paused midway.
Kim Seokjin left the tape deliberately. It was an open challenge to the department, he even did not bother to clean up after the murdering two of the officers himself, not the rest too. The recording, the murder scene, the whole house— all these were powerful pieces of evidence.
So why would he just...Leave them behind?
That sly rat obviously did not want to get caught.
But the evidence...
Unless...
"Officers! Officers wherever you are get out of the building I said evacuate the buildings. Over."
He held the tape close as he rushed out of the room and into the hallway."
"Sir, what is wrong?" One of the officers asked through the device.
"It's a trap! I REPEAT IT'S A TRAP! EVACUATE THE—-"
BOOM!
The deafening boom was swift, followed by another within a millisecond, but the amber and the sparks were quicker.
And within a moment, the two buildings burst into flames. Fire and fireproof helmets flying out, some parts of burning cloths, burnt uniforms and perhaps some skin attached to them.
—---
Jin smiled at her sleeping form through the mirror before he felt his burner phone vibrating.
"Sir, it's done." A voice from the other side spoke as soon as he picked up the call.
"Good, now get out of there." Jin instructed before hanging up the call.
He could finally lean back. His eyes remained on the road ahead, along with a smile that he did not wish to wipe anytime soon.
—--------
Waking up was a slow process. But (Y/N) had not felt more blissful before. She felt like she was surrounded by soft clouds. She felt pampered, and it was not a feeling foreign to her but she was relaxed and—-
She woke up with a start, shaking the remaining sleep off her, though her mind was still a bit muddled. Flashes of the night before occupied her mind as she blinked to clear up her vision. He...What had she done?
Did she give in?
She just...She just laid there, under him, taking whatever he gave her
She put her whole department to shame and yet—
The gentle fingers brushing through her hair, detangling the tresses were all too familiar to even guess– she knew it was Jin. Laying behind her.
"How did you sleep?" It was the morning voice that she was used to, but this time, she was alert for a whole new reason.
Did he wish to play with her a bit before slaughtering her?
There was one thing that Kim Seokjin would never forgive, she had learnt in her two years with him– betrayal.
Expecting forgiveness from him after stabbing him in the back was like trying to dig up a well in a desert.
"You need to relax, Love. As I said yesterday, I forgive you."
She frowned but did not dare to turn.
"I forgive you..."
"I forgive you..."
"I forgive you..."
Was that what she heard before she fell into a tired, hopeless, dreamless slumber?
Even if she were to die, she knew that she was no coward. And she would not die like one. So (Y/N) turned around, facing the man who shaped her nightmares and dreams.
Turning around, she realised she was naked, while he was in his usual night pyjamas. And while she had been naked with him several times before, this made her feel vulnerable, exposed even.
"You did not give away the other pen drive, Jagi. Of course, I forgive you. How can I not?"
He looked soft, hair ruffled, eyes slightly swollen, and overall deceptively harmless.
"You killed them."
As long as she could remember, there were two bodies. Two of her seniors lay bloodied and dead on the bed.
"Yes, Jagi, I killed them all." Jin's smile was sweet, the one she had grown used to.
And so was it unhinged.
"You can't hide forever, you know?"
"We, Love. It's us against them. You proved your loyalty to me last night. The remaining doubts shall be dealt with effectively." He rose slightly with the support of his elbow and placed a quick kiss on her forehead. "I will be back, yeah?"
He left after that. Left her with her thoughts as she spiralled further and further down. All the things that had gone wrong and that she had done wrong. Two of the senior-most officers were dead. The department would hunt her down, hunt them down.
She had no clue how long it had been until Jin returned with a tray that she assumed contained breakfast.
"I had the maids prepare a light breakfast, did not want you to get your stomach upset again."
She frowned. Why did she not remember any of that?
"I–I threw up last night?"
"Yes, you did, even had a fever. Perhaps things were too much for you. Had me worried there for a while. Now, rise up, you must eat something."
"Why are you doing this?" She refused to believe that she was 'forgiven', she was not even apologising in the first place. "If this is your way of prolonging—"
"I could have killed you the day I found out who you were."
She stilled at his words. They were obvious but that did not stop the chill that descended into her spine. It was a strange cocktail of sadness and affirmation.
"But I didn't..."
I couldn't
The words lingered with uncertainty in the air.
"I wanted to see how far this little game goes. And then I saw it..." He tilted his head as his lips curved into a condescending smirk "...How naïve you were. It's pathetic actually. Thinking what you do is the 'right thing'."
"You run an underworld business of drugs and weapons Jin. No matter what you do, how you are, you cannot separate that from yourself...You have blood on your hands Jin and the only way to wash it—"
He interrupted her with a loud scoff that broke into a cackle.
"Honey, you don't wash it all off, it took my blood sweat and money to build this empire. And then I watch some puppet idealists coming to topple it...It's amusing."
He gently laid the breakfast tray on the foldable table placed over her lap.
"It's a game (Y/N). A big game where people like you are only disposable pawns...Why do you think the department is bothered about me now? Why not years back? I was easier to crush then."
When she only frowned, he continued.
"Because they are not hunting for sweeping the city, or the nation clean. They are hunting for those who cannot be loyal to them. Once you are ready to spend billions on election campaigns, domestic and international deals, give money to their pretty puppets and invest in their projects– be their loyal dogs, do the dirty work for them...You are free to do whatever the fuck you want."
He gently cupped her cheeks, leaning in to level with her gaze. "One Government topples, so does their favours upon their underworld allies, the next one would only want to uproot them all. It's not about just tice, or charity, or protecting the city. It never was. It has and always been about power...Once they find out that you have not handed over the other pen drive, you are going to end up with a 'criminal' bullet lodged into your head."
"What about the bullets in those officers' bodies?"
Jin only smiled "If my soul were made of what has shaped yours, Jagi...I would not have been where I am."
He placed a tender kiss on her forehead.
"Get something into your system. I will prepare a bath for you."
Standing up, he towered over her.
"For now, you are not allowed to step out of the room without my explicit permission. Not until my trust in you is restored completely. You still went to meet them, and I cannot risk another slip-up."
"So I am your prisoner."
"Of course not, Jagi. I have a special place for my 'prisoners'. You are the woman I love and refuse to lose. You are the one for me. But fortunately, love cannot blind me to the realities of your position. It is just a bump in the road, we will pass through this."
She could not even begin to decipher what odd amalgamation of emotions she was feeling at the moment. It was all too much. But she knew one thing...She was trapped. A trap she had willingly walked into.
"I will let you have the bath to yourself. Finish up, okay?"
With that, Jin walked into the bathroom. The little muffled sounds here and there let her know that he was doing what he said he would do. Exactly that.
—--
The water felt perfect against her skin, washing away the aches and clammy sensation. But nothing could wash away him. He was imprinted on her mind, and even if he had thoughtfully left her alone in the bathroom, (Y/N) felt him everywhere, in everything. It was like the whole place, not just the bathroom or the room, but each brick was breathing Kim Seokjin.
It was an odd situation. After everything she had seen and experienced, she knew that there was something going on in Jin's mind– he was concocting a plan and if he was not, then he had already emerged as victorious.
She would not be surprised though. He had himself revealed that he had known her true occupation for a while now. It was all a bait. Her two seniors were dead, and perhaps even her colleagues who were in the other house and—
The realisation hit her like a truck. Before she knew it, she was scrambling out of the tub, splashing water everywhere, slipping here and there. But she did make it back to the room, albeit with only a bath robe on, she rushed out of the bathroom, only to begin searching for a TV remote.
She finally found it on the nightstand.
"There are only speculations we can make as no confirmation has been provided by the Police Department or the intelligence. The intensity of the blast was moderate but enough to kill each and every officer present in the two buildings...."
The words of the reporter sank later than the pictures being displayed on the screen. There were all twenty of them.
Five of whom she had personally worked with on her previous missions. Out of the five, two were the ones she recognised as friends, close friends.
The rest of the six were acquaintances and the others, she could barely remember their names.
But all of them were her colleagues.
Her colleagues with families to look after, one of them was expecting his first child in the world, and another was the only hope for her aged and ailing parents.
And now, they all were reduced to nothing but burnt flesh and ashes.
"Jagi, I thought you were in for a nice, relaxing bath, why are you crying?"
She had not taken notice of his presence first, it was only after he gently wiped her tears did she realise her predicament.
It was like she had blood in her hands.
"Why?"
When she looked at him with the question, his unreadable eyes expressed the unexpressed. There was no other thought in her mind.
"They were innocent—"
Jin cackled– one that sounded everything that she had heard before when it concerned an expression of glee. But felt like nothing she had felt before. One that could inspire unadulterated fear. It was sinister– mockingly sinister at its best.
She had fallen in love with a cruel, cold and evil man.
"You have known me for years now, have you not...(Y/N). Have I ever been forgiving to obstacles? They were the wall between us, our love."
And yet he claimed to love her.
"It was a small warning, Jagi. You know that I could do worse."
He was right. She knew him, after all.
"Now, we would not have to worry about some petty people in uniform trying to come after us. Don't think too much about this and tire yourself out."
He took the remote from her grasp with ease and switch the television off before gently leading her back to the bathroom.
(Y/N) was in a daze, letting him take her out of the bathrobe with ease before he put her back in the bathtub after moderating the temperature again. But when he joined her, the feeling of his warm skin rubbing against hers broke her daze, but the faces of her colleagues never vanished from her mind.
She heard him sigh as he pulled her over his lap, relaxing in the perfectly warm water, basking in the soothing fragrance of lavender and pines. It felt like once she closed her eyes, she would be somewhere else, somewhere beautiful.
But she did not dare to close them.
(Y/N) knew that the moment she closed her eyes, the faces of her friends and colleagues would flash in front of her.
She felt his body against hers, roaming hands, fingers drawing circles over her shoulder to comfort her. But none of them worked.
"I know that there is a lot of questions in your mind, so may dilemmas. But you will see Jagi. You will see how much far we have come. You chose me. You made the right choice."
His voice was that of a siren– hypnotic, melodious, but one that would lead its follower to their ultimate demise.
That was Kim Seokjin.
He told her once that she was the one for him, and they would grow old together.
She knew that he would have it no other way.
He was not afraid to spark a bloody battle for that. But there was no line to it. He did not care who or what the price was-- he would have what he wanted, where he wanted.
She realised when he turned her head to land a soft but promising kiss on her lips.
He wanted a battle?
His lips were soft but firm, his hand on the side of her neck left no room for backing away.
She would give him war.
She kissed him back, cautious, but not empty of thoughts.
***
The days were humid, and the nights invited light to moderate rainfall. Life in the relatively remote town was peaceful, in a nutshell.
To live in innocuous obscurity, to work for nothing but to run her and her family was what (Y/N) needed after everything she and her sister had been through—her sister Chae, her only surviving family. The same family she had smashed someone’s heart for and perhaps ruined his life forever.
She might as well be a monster in his eyes. But with her experience through all this, she had learned that not all monsters were evil. And that just made everything much more complicated.
She never knew Min Yoongi.
Of course, she had heard of him, maybe even seen his pictures a handful of times, but never paid much attention.
Not until Chae, her sweet little sister, and her only family, was diagnosed with an illness that was slowly swallowing her up. And (Y/N)’s regular office job could not pay the bills for too long. Their savings were running out, and the treatment and medicines were weighing heavy.
She was desperate.
Truly desperate
And truly desperate people never weigh morals, risks, or possibilities.
They take any chance given to them.
So did she, when a decorated officer offered her a chance to save her sister and find a better life for both of them.
She took the chance; it only took her a day to think through everything. They were paying for her sister’s treatment and the medical bills; they were to overlook Chae and her security, and the net money to be transferred into her bank account after the work was done was good enough.
That one offer had everything she desperately needed. Not desired. Needed.
She was never worried about herself– walking under the shadow of a man like Min Yoongi, she had to have courage. And she was courageous because she was desperate. Whatever she had heard of the man was foul deeds and evil temperament; she had never let that diminish her courage.
To the officers, Min Yoongi was a monster. A clever monster who needed to be pulled out of the sea.
It was for the betterment of society– she was not doing anything morally wrong if perceived through those lenses.
But that was the catch.
People, morality and justice were not read through a single lens, they needed prisms to look at, to analyse.
She had learned that with her time spent with Min Yoongi. Her experience defied every other fact she had learned from her temporary employers. He was no monster. But as she dug deeper into his life and his personality, she discovered that the officers were no liars either.
Min Yoongi was a monster after all. But he was not evil. Not every monster was evil, not every evil looked like a monster.
Min Yoongi was an intimidating man. True to the officers’ words, he was a dangerous man too. Before she knew it, she was already praying that the assumptions about him would be proven false and that she would never have to hear his deeds from his lips.
The same lips that had kissed her so softly, the eyes that looked at her with such a distinct tenderness, closed when her fingers traced his scar. Her touch was soft, but his hold on her would be delicate. It always had been.
Until the doomed night.
She was frozen with shock when she looked into his eyes– the same eyes that once held tenderness seemed to belong to a true predator. For the first time, she truly felt the danger that she was in.
She was in a lion’s den. Unarmed. Unprepared. But desperate.
She saw the shadow fall over his face, she truly saw why even a decorated officer would not like to mess with Min Yoongi without an intricate strategy and heavy backup.
And yet, she had mouthed ‘Run’ to him.
As if she wanted him to get away. To be saved.
Perhaps he did need a second chance— to be saved from the chilling darkness she had seen merging with him.
But she was no saint, and definitely not his saviour.
She was his doom.
It was an opportunity too good, too bright a chance. And she took it.
Yes, she had grown to care for him, even sympathise with him, more than she would like to admit. But she loved her sister. And she did whatever she needed to do to save her only family.
She had religiously avoided watching the news for months. Three months since she had settled into town with her little sister. She did not want to burden herself anymore.
I did what I needed to. We needed to survive.
She told herself again as she prepared warm milk for Chae along with her medicine. It had become kind of a ritual ever since that night.
“Chae, get off the tablet now. Time for bed.” She called out from the kitchen before making her way to their room from the kitchen with the tray with her.
“Just a few more minutes!”
(Y/N) could not help but feel uplifted by the sound of her sister’s chirpy voice, it had withered so pitifully once. But now, as she was recovering, their trips to the hospital had reduced from every three days to twice a month.
“No. Screentime’s over. Give that to me.”
Despite her sister’s whining, she took the gadget from her tiny hands and replaced it with the cup of milk.
“Say ‘Aaa’”
Chae opened her mouth wide as (Y/N) put a circular tablet into it before helping her gulp it down.
She let out a soft sigh after she finished the cup– soft pink in shade with the partially protruding face of a smiling panda.
“Let’s get you to bed. Why don’t you show me how you make your bed before going to sleep?”
“Yes!” Chase jumped up, ready to show (Y/N) her newfound field of expertise.
“Look, you first, take off the pillows, clear off your bed…” She spoke as if there were cameras around, like the lifestyle shows and YouTube videos on ‘How to Do Household Chores Right’.
She had been watching such stuff lately. And while (Y/N) felt that her Chae might be a little too young to learn how to make pancakes, if her sister enjoyed the sense of independence and thrived in it, (Y/N) did not mind.
She watched her little sister work with a fond smile until she was done and was beaming with a smile that (Y/N) held the most precious to herself.
“And look, it's all done!”
(Y/N) clapped in appreciation and played along, before tucking her into bed and switching off the lights, keeping the nightlights that made the ‘Glow-in-the-dark’ wall stickers illuminate better before placing a goodnight kiss on the top of her and leaving the room.
—---
Laying on the bed after a long day felt good. She doubted that anything could even compare to the comfort and sense of safety a familiar, comfortable bed would provide after a long day of toil and trials.
Sighing, she let herself sink into a relaxed state of mind, welcoming the sleep that was rapidly filling her eyes– rapid but soft and—
Buzz! Buzz!
The vibration from her phone jerked her out of the sweet lull with a low gasp. Her senses stood alert as she blinked away the rest of the sleep. In the dark room, her phone’s screen illuminated in a way that there was no other way but to look at it. As if, it had a sense of urgency to it. as if it demanded for her to look into the text.
She knew, of course, that it was all but her imagination– the phone would not buzz a different way for different situations, and neither would it illuminate any brighter to alert her.
With a tired sigh and heavy eyes, she unlocked her phone and opened the message from an unknown number.
Indeed, it was a very important message.
—------
It was a nice place– at least nice in the sense that it served good food and had a warm and cosy atmosphere– something one would expect from a cafe in a fairly isolated town.
Not many people visited the town, neither tourists knew about it. A perfect hiding corner in the country indeed. They had considered sending her out of the country, and they had assured her that once things settled down, they would.
But here was the thing– she depended on one of the officers to inform her if the ‘things had settled down’. (Y/N) had consciously avoided any news or updates regarding Min Yoongi.
She was indeed afraid of coming across something upsetting. She already was miserable with guilt.
Sure, she never loved Min Yoongi, but she had grown to care for him, to understand him and truly see him for what he was– a love-starved, broken soul.
“So…”
She began, eyeing the door and the road outside for any sign of a vehicle with red and blue sirens.
“Is there something to be worried about?”
In her time with Min Yoongi, she had mastered the art of poise, to some extent. However, she never had the chance to master her fear– she never felt the need to. It was an odd sense of safety in his company, she knew that nothing could touch her when she was with him.
But he was an exception.
The man in front of him was an officer in disguise. She remembered him for he had been closely associated with Mission Raven.
“I have not been keeping track of any news regarding—”
“There’s nothing on the news Ms (L/N). Nothing at all. That night, the police station blew off.”
She stilled, slowly processing his words.
“There was no record of his arrest because he was to be shifted to a bigger, more secure station overnight but…”
“So…So everyone there…”
The officer sighed and nodded.
“Min Yoongi was never found. What a coincidence.” He shook his head with a bitter chuckle “When I joined the police force, I thought that I was going to be a hero– help the people in need, bring justice…That night, when my eyes met Min Yoongi’s, I felt my resolve faltering for the second time in my life.”
He shook his head with a sardonic tilt of his lips.
“The first time was while I shot a criminal dead.” He added before taking a sip of the coffee that no longer had steam rising from its surface. “Overall, I am glad that I and two of my teammates had gone out for a cigarette break…So we survived.”
He gulped and eyed his surroundings with a subtle nervousness that made her heart thrum with warnings.
“Though I have been transferred to some other city, I thought that I must warn you. I waited, did not want him to track you down. Miss (L/N), I suggest that you leave with your sister tonight, and leave the country as soon as you can. Min Yoongi’s men killed every person in the building. We hid, but we saw him walk out, saw them walk out…Oh–look, please don’t panic.”
It was when his flow broke did she realised that her cheeks were damp with tears.
“(Y/N), are you alright?” The young officer frowned in concern.
“I…I need to lea-ve.”She cracked up, as her voice crumbled.
With quivering legs and hands, she rose from her chair, uncaring of the loud scraping.
“I can drop you.” He offered.
“No…No, you…you should leave. We are no longer safe. Are we?”
The officer pursed his lips before shaking his head.
Picking up his card from the desk, along with her handbag, she rushed out of the place, gasping for breaths. She thought she might feel better with some fresh air in her lungs. But she had no time to think. She simply rushed to her car and drove away.
(Y/N) felt like she was in a daze.
It felt like a bad dream. An ominous one.
But it was no omen, it was no dream.
It was real.
During her two years with Min Yoongi, she came to understand him to some extent. Nothing slipped past his mind, ever.
A favour or a betrayal, he paid his debts. With interest.
And she had gifted him, on that night, one of the worst betrayals a man could endure. She had seen love in his eyes before that doomed night.
But that night, he had the misfortune to witness the flicker of madness– simmering, still tame, in control. There was an odd gleam in his eyes– one that reminded her why Min Yoongi was so feared after all.
Hastily parking her car, she rushed out of the vehicle and into her house. The setting sun cast an amber glow into the sky that was gradually descending into deep blue and lavender. It might rain heavily– not ideal for travelling, but she had no other option.
They had no other—
As soon as she entered the apartment, her thoughts turned silent.
Everything felt tense.
For once, her heart skipped a beat. But she was reassured by reminding herself that Chae would be usually taking a nap by this time.
For once, she thought that she finally had the peace she had always craved. But now as she moved towards Chae’s room to wake her up, she realised how wrong she had been.
With a plan still under construction in her spiralling mind, she opened the door to Chae’s room. The blinds were pulled down, plunging the room into an unusual darkness.
“Chae?” She called out tentatively before switching on the night light.
She noticed her sister’s face first, eyes closed and limbs hanging– and then the body–no, the man who had her in his arms.
Her mind, her thoughts, and her senses plunged into a heavy silence. A silence so profound that (Y/N) could hear a low but unending beep in her ears.
She could see the outline of a back, along with the hair just teasing his shoulders. She would recognise the profile anywhere, at any time. But when the man finally turned, she could not help but take a step back, gluing herself to the wall, under the shadows as her breathing hitched.
There was nothing significantly different, at least whatever view the limited light provided her with showed that. But somehow, his form seemed to swallow every corner of the room. The scar that ran through his eyes till his upper cheek was almost faded out by the shades of blue the nightlight provided.
But she could see his smirk– a crooked, twisted smirk that made her whimper. A sudden gleam had her eyes dropping to his hand that held her sister with a silver gun flat on her back, his forefinger already on the trigger.
“You never told me about your sister…(Y/N).” He drawled, and she thought his truest, rawest nature stood before her.
A predator that loved to chase but also took its time.
“No…No!” Her voice came out as strangled as her brittle knees gave out
“Shhh, you’ll wake her up. I read out a story to her before tucking her in.”
His voice was calm, hushed and steady– a sinister melody attached to it, following his movements as he looked above her. She had not even noticed the two men standing behind her. It was only after they walked past her and took her sleeping sister in their arms that the wheels began to turn in her head.
“W-where are you taking her? No!” With skidding legs and blurred vision, she rushed to them, trying to pry her sister away from them, only to be pulled back by the man whose presence overpowered everyone and everything in the house.
“Yoongi, please! She’s innocent, punish me but—”
Her words were caught in her throat when his gaze held hers. She was looking into the eyes of a creature of the night. The blue light only enhanced the sinister shade his face carried. He was perhaps paler, broader yet his face seemed sharper. No trace of softness.
“You know how many times I dreamt of that night over and over again?” He pushed her closer, so close that she could feel his quivering breath– as if he was barely restraining himself.
“My sister needed—”
“They were simply fishing for the right victim and you just took the bait. What do you think, they would come to ‘save’ you? They don’t fucking care!” He spat.
Under the nightlight, he looked rogue, savage, unfearing.
“You are a criminal Yoongi.” She had no idea where she had found the strength to speak those words, but she did.
He smiled coldly “Of course I am, Love. The one they fear and now won’t dare challenge. You see, there is nothing between us now.”
Her wall of protection had disappeared. (Y/N) knew that she could never depend on them for long, but everything toppling overnight? She had not seen this coming.
“You betrayed me, but also saved me.” He concluded and she felt his hold tightening on her arms like a python.
“No, Yoongi…I didn’t save you. I am not your saviour Yoongi.”
“Oh, Love…I cannot be saved anyway, I don’t want to be…All that is left for you is to accept me as I am. No ifs and buts.”
But how? She never wanted this…She never loved him!
“Y-Yoongi…I don’t–I don’t love you…”,
The silence made her stomach flip. But her proximity to him made her fear for her life.
“They really had filled your mind with filth…” He drawled before she felt the iron grip of his fingers on her jaws. It was not instantly painful, but with each passing moment, the ache rose.
“Look at me, look into my eyes and tell me.”
The simmering ambre flared into an all-engulfing fire in his eyes. Some strands of his hair fell forward, exposing the deranged lover that hid behind the poised man.
She peered into the rage and chaos simmering in his feline eyes- dark but raging with emotions, yet hollowed with loneliness.
“I cared Yoongi, I always did. That is why I wanted you to survive. I wanted you to run, despite knowing who you were, I wanted you to run. But I could never love you.”
It was an odd amalgamation– she feared him, yet pitied him. He, to her, resembled a lost predator. Surviving, hunting, doing what he was born to do…but lost, alone.
“Please Yoongi…Let Chae go…She’s a child. Let us go.” She begged again, her hopes flaring when his hold on her loosened, hands falling to his side as he took a step back.
He only chuckled and looked away.
“I guess our past actions do have consequences…”
In the silence, his lowly voice sounded ominous
“And I must reap them…” He paused before turning back to her “But so would you.”.
She watched the simmering ambre erupting into an all-consuming volcano before he tapped on the earpiece attached to his left ear.
“Is the child with you? Okay, take out your gun and shoot her when I command.”
“NO! NO! Yoongi, please! No”
She was already on her knees, she did not care as long as her only family was safe. His cold eyes peered down at her with a chilling poise before he bent down a bit and cupped her cheek, breaking the neverending stream of tears.
“Wipe off the tears and come with me. If anyone suspects something, you sweet little sister will pay.”
(Y/N) sat frozen, not even registering the thrumming on her knees.
Maybe she was wrong–
Min Yoongi was a monster after all.
And monsters were unforgiving creatures.
—------
Min Yoongi knew that he was not a saint.
He was not a kind man.
But he was also not evil. Not to the people he loved, truly loved and cared for. And definitely not to the love of his life.
He had no shame in admitting– he was a monster- the worst of them all. A walking, talking, repulsive nightmare.
But he loved her. He had forgiven her the very night he was ‘arrested’.
How could he not, when she looked at him with more kindness than he had ever known in this world?
But when she outrightly refused to have ever loved him, the illusion began to crack.
“They were right about you…I never believed them until now but now I do. You truly are an evil monster.”
She had whispered those words to him as soon as they were in his estate. Even with tears in them, her eyes were cold and raging.
“I could never love a monster like you!” She finally spat out when he refused to let her see her sister.
And he snapped. Something deep, dark, territorial and unhinged gnawed its way out.
But he only smirked. Even though he could feel the dull ache behind his eyes, a strange pit in his stomach, he smirked and let it grow into a chuckle.
He must have had his true face out as she took a step back with fear blooming in her teary eyes– he was a deranged, diabolic bastard. With each step he took to close the distance between them, she took several away, until the back of her knees bumped with the bed.
Pulling her flush against himself, he leaned near her ear.
“The officers who aided you are already six feet under the ground– half burnt, half crushed, but dead anyway. All you can do is believe in every word they told you about me…I am indeed a monster, honey. He worst one you will ever know. And you will have to live with this monster. No government, no decorated officer would dare to save you.”
He felt her stiffen and shiver like frightened prey. Indeed, she had fallen prey to his love. He made peace with their reality. She would too.
Humans were adaptive creatures after all.
—--------
The hanging lights on the ceiling were pretty– the crystals shining under the moonlight, but they seemed to swing slightly.
It was only an illusion, of course. It was she, who moved, and the bed while the man above her remained still, revelling at the sight of her rocking hips, spread legs and parted mouth with the dazed bliss in her eyes.
She could only watch the chandelier instead of looking into his eyes with the victorious gleam in them and the sadistic twinkle on watching her fall apart.
“Look into my eyes, Jagi.”
And she did before hot white pleasure surged through her.
“There there, aren’t you the most beautiful of all brides out there?”
“Why can’t I meet my own sister?” (Y/N) was only a thread away from screaming her lungs out all the awful things she could think of at the moment.
Yoongi simply sat, nursing his scotch on rocks, idly watching the part of the vast garden visible from his home office. The place that only a few had access to, the place she had barged in, his guards chasing after her, pleading for her to stop lest they would bear Mr Min’s wrath.
But she could not have it in herself to care. She had not seen or even heard of her Chae for two days in the gigantic estate.
When Yoongi finally looked at her, his stoic stare made something unpleasant steer within her. His eyes assessed her with a flick before it turned steely.
“Why are you in your bed clothes?” It was akin to a sneer. Or maybe it was.
The fact was, she did not give a fuck.
“What have you done to my sis–”
“Have you walked all the way here in this?”
She was wearing a thin camisole under a nightgown reaching beyond her knee. It was of satin material that was tightly knotted but had a plunging neckline she had never cared about.
She did not understand why this bothered him so much. She knew that he was twisted but this was madness.
“I want to see Chae! I have not even heard of her since I–you brought us here.”
Only she knew the anxiety clawing her from within
“She needs to take her medicines regularly Yoongi. She’s just eight, she is a child, an innocent child who needs me.”
Even when she would ask the guards, servants, or maids, they would not respond to her question– that was the only question they refrained from speaking about her sister, or even taking her name.
If Yoongi had the intention to break her down in a slow, painful way, he was on the right track.
He rose from the chair and walked to her “I assure you that she is safe and sound– she will take all her medicines on time, they will take good care of her.”
“Th-they?”
She did not even notice his other hand reaching for her until he wiped the single tear that had slipped from her eyes.
“The school staff. I have sent Chae to Rosenberg.”
“Indeed, you are.”
She felt his fingers slipping away before hearing the embarrassing squelching. Her eyes had closed without her notice, ready to fall into a blissful slumber. It was the second time he had pushed her over the edge of white pleasure.
But she was wrong to think that he was anywhere near done.
Feeling the tight knot snap, she withered under him, eyes still closed, mind still hazy.
Before the swing of the pleasurable high could slow down, she vaguely felt him putting her boneless legs over his shoulder before the ticking sensation between her thighs alerted her.
(Y/N)’s eyes snapped open, just in time when she felt something wet glide over her opening. The protest bubbling up to her tongue fizzled out like a burning matchstick against a storm and the only thing left for her was to moan instead– no matter how much she wished to resist it, she could not help the signs of pleasure tearing out of her mouth.
At first, she felt the odd but pleasurable sensation, almost flinching and jumping away. But under him, with his hands tight on her thighs, almost spilling the flesh between his fingers, it was difficult to even move. All she could do was to let her hands grip his hair. He did not seem to mind much.
His tongue focused on flicking her clit for a while, making her jolt each time with quivering gasps and moistening womanhood. This man surely knew how to overwhelm her own emotions.
“Ro-Rosember?”
“Rosenberg– Institut auf dem Rosenberg. It tops the list for a refined and elite schools, your sister will flourish there.”
He held an air of nonchalance around him as he refilled his glass. Yet Yoongi’s eyes never left her form.
(Y/N) licked her lips. Was it possible to get randomly admitted to any prestigious school so soon in the country?
“So, she will be going to a new school? I can meet her then, right?”
“I think you don’t understand Jagi. It is an elite boarding school, the best of the best. It’s in Switzerland. I sent her there yesterday.”
“You…You sent my Chae to…Switzerland?”
She had to repeat the words herself in order to fully grasp the situation. Yoongi sent her baby sister, who needed constant supervision and regular check-ups to another country-- to a boarding school she had never heard of.
“I have sent them the details and the list of precautions and medications. Besides that, I have connections, Jagi, she will be safe there.”
By the time he finished speaking, her legs turned lifeless and she found the floor. The warmth of the carpet could not subdue the sudden waves of chills and goosebumps enveloping her form.
“You sent her away from me…”
“I gave her a good life. Imagine if it were someone else in my place, Jagi…He would have gifted you your sister’s head first before taking yours.”
He bent down in smooth, silent motion before whispering to her with his arms holding her in faux reassurance.
Her eyes rolled back before the rawness of her throat was registered only after the rocking of her hips had slowed down. Her ears still echoed the short but sharp scream that had forced its way out of her throat like he had been forcing the pleasure out of her.
Her vision was blurry with the mix of tears and haze, but she could see him smirking– smug but somewhat unhinged.
Maybe he was indeed unhinged and cruel. He had punished her– not for her apparent betrayal. But for not loving him the way he had believed she would.
Min Yoongi had closed all doors for her, leaving her with no option but to hold on to the diamond wedding ring that now had its fangs buried on her ring finger– just as Min Yoongi had his claws buried in her life.
“Look at you~”
She heard him coo as her head fell back on the pillow, her movement growing slow and her eyes heavy.
“What has the child done to you? She needs me!” (Y/N) cried out in anguish.
Yet it did nothing to deter his cold gaze or falter the ghost of a smirk he sported with pride.
“Nothing Love, the child has done nothing. I am not her foe. I am giving her the life millions would die for– the best of the best. I would see to it all. But when would you see her again is in your hands Jagi.”
She frowned and blinked through her tears. Up close, his scar did manage to make him appear more sinister than anyone she had ever met before.
“What are you saying?”
“I love you Jagi, there is no limit, no boundary that I would not cross for you. You can meet her after we are married and you give birth to our first child. So it depends on you how soon you can do that.”
He sealed her fate with the offer. But she wondered, how could a confession of love make one’s heart quiver with fear?
“I love you, Jagi, you have no idea how much I do.”
She could smell the sweat and musk as he leaned down to kiss her forehead before guiding his manhood to enter her. Slow, but sure, a contrast of stiffness and tenderness that both frightened and baffled her.
“Oh—” (Y/N)’s voice quivered as she held onto Yoongi’s shoulders in order to keep herself grounded. It was devastating; it was delicious, it was almost divine.
But she knew that this was no more than a nefarious act of him sinking his sharp teeth into her– held down under his thumb forever. He had the advantage, the power and the last word. He was the lion, she was a helpless, powerless prey his claws dug into.
Min Yoongi was a man of his word.
He had told her once that he would marry her and live in his newly bought estate; they were indeed married, fucking on the bed that was flown all the way from a different country.
—---
The headlines flashed on the screen while wheels turned in her head. She sat stiffly without any movements as she watched the news.
“What are you watching?”
As if he were conjured, he walked into their room, some sandwiches on a plate, wearing the most innocuous-looking clothes. He had taken two months off from ‘work’, wishing to spend some quality time with his wife.
One week into the marriage, she was already wearing down. Both emotionally and physically. She doubted if there was any room in the mansion left where he had not taken her, or was there any corner of her mind where he had not wiggled his way into.
“Your company is taking responsibility for constructing new police quaters and renovating the old ones?”
“Yes, why are you so surprised?”
“There are others, older candidates. Why would they give the project to you?”
Yoongi smiled and sat down beside her.
“You are so smart, Jagi. It would be a sin to hide anything from my wife, would that not? Let's just say me and the Internal Affairs Ministry are friends now.”
He leaned in and kissed her cheek before handing her the sandwich he had put his time making.
“So, no one disrupts me now. For a long time.”
“You did this to make sure that no one comes searching for me, right?”
He grinned.
“I love you (Y/N). There is no limit that I would not cross for you. Eat up, I have a really good movie for us. You will love it. After that, we can have lunch, all your favourites.
He went on, while she spiralled further. Any hope of getting out of there was crushed then and there.
He had not taken his time to track her down. He had taken his time to plan. And execute the plan thoroughly. Tracking her down was child’s play for him.
Min Yoongi was indeed a monster—a clever, stubborn and dangerous monster.
And she was in his realm, and she was there to stay. He would make sure of that.
***
The rest of the parts will be published shortly. I am facing problems in saving the draft.
A very Happy New Year to all of you!

Can you do more of the ghouls taking care of cat mc??
The Salem to their Sabrina
Obscuary taking care of a turned cat! MC
Wc:800
Edward
Immediately recognizes you, after he pats his lap for you to jump into and his cold hand rakes your fur while musing and divagating about similar curses and how it would be a shame to break it so soon now that your form turned so cute.
The epitome of an iPad kid now, he is hurdled under a blanket on his loveseat and a cat on his chest.
“If I were to let you out, would you hunt down a love dove for me? I heard that the government uses pigeons as spies and wonder if darkwick does so… why are you leaving without answering?”
Not one to play with you even if you insist, his old bones are too brittle and energy too low for that but he is sure that Lyca would like to play with you.
If you want someone to bring you to help he isn't ideal, he can't really hold you and his parasol at the same time. But you can wait with him until Luca and Kaito notice your absence and start looking for you or Rui starts asking where he found a cat willing to cuddle with him.
Almost wants to keep you a cat, it might be easier that way to care for you after anomalies take over but he reckons you might not appreciate your new body so, with a heavy sigh, he hands you to Lyca who is ordered by Rui to get you to mortenkraken or Nicolas, whoever is closer.
Rui
A cat ambushes him and almost makes him kick them on his way to Obscuary, quickly he figures it isn't any of the staff cats, they meow at him loudly to get his attention, or another cat anomaly, as they would hide from ghouls. It isn't until you tug at his pants to a plot of dirt and paw your name that he recognizes you.
Rolling his jacket around your body and holding you far from his body, he walks to the infirmary or directly to mortenkraken, whichever he guesses is less crowded. After getting told that it would disappear with time he is relieved.
He lets you hang out around his bar, even if he is scared of touching you accidentally, he thinks it's a good way to promote his business. Haru drops by as soon as night falls and is all over you even before getting drunk and being cuddlier, Romeo is just happy that he isn't the target for his hugs.
He is disappointed that when Nicolas came to his bar and rather than drinking it was just to perform a check up because he wasn't available when he took you. He managed to make him drink a watered down shochu before leaving. (is that how it's translated?)
He really wants to prepare you a cocktail but nobody really tested if cats could eat the anomalous infusions so the most he can do is mix catnip tea and cat milk so enjoy your cat-safe milk tea?
No matter at what hour you might get zoomies he is up to play -he can't really sleep but playing with a cute cat is good enough!- he grabs a stick with a string and feathers and waves it around for you to hunt.
He was kinda sad when you returned to normal, he really liked monopolizing you for a few days after having to share time with the other houses, but he will never say it out loud.
Lyca
Surprised at seeing a cat over at Obscuary, given how none of the staff cats go over but after a good sniff he figures it's you, your smell even if one of a cat’s there is a lingering flowery scent under all that fur.
Bring you by the scruff to Rui because he is the one he seeks out when in doubt. His ears almost pop off his head when he yells at him to let you go and he will hurt you.
This is actually a learning experience for him, most of the cats around campus seen skittish around him or outright evade him. He sits down on his blanket in his room with you next to him and a picture book open on the floor. He grabs your paw or tail and repeats the word until he somewhat remembers it.
He heard cats thrive when they eat meat so he tries harder to hunt you a dove, something small to eat for the small cat. Rui explains to him that even if you are a cat you still have your conscience and wouldn't eat raw meat.
“Here, drink, this said cats like milk” “Lyca no! Adult cats can't drink cow milk”
If he has to go to class with you on his shoulder he will wonder why the others can't recognize you, your scent is so different to normal cat's!

N/A: Sorry about the language mistakes!!! Requests are open!!! I'm waiting yours!!! I love you all!!! :)) And if you're wondering about the song, is "Something Stupid" by Frank & Nancy Sinatra (1967) Totally a classic of love songs ;)
"You can’t do anything?"
A strange murmur enters your head as you open your eyes. It’s a voice distorted by the sound of blood flowing through your veins. Everything seems new to you, everything is confusing. You can't think, even if you try. You can't see even if there is light. The only thing you are capable of feeling is hunger, sleep, the desire to run.
It smells like stagnant water, humidity. You are able to perceive that, but you cannot see the figures in front of you. You try hard to calm down, but you can't. Your head only asks you for basic things, your instincts are your top priority.
Kill, eat, sleep
That was the mantra that your mind repeated, one that was confusing and at the same time very clear, very necessary. You move, but you can't walk, something prevents you. A chain surrounds your neck and jingles as you move. You are trapped, locked in, you can't run, you can't fight, you can't kill.
“I'm so sorry, Donna. I can’t,” another distorted voice forces your mind to turn your head. The sound of your heavy breathing is even louder than the jingle of the chains. Donna. For some reason that set of syllables produces a different, familiar effect on you.
Your vision becomes clear little by little. All you see are prey, prey that terrifies you, that makes you retreat against the stone wall of that strange place. You feel bad, you shouldn't be there.
You should be in the forest. You should be hunting, killing.
A pleasant sound, a cry reaches your tuned ears. The black figure in front of you cries. She cries uncontrollably, but you don't feel anything. You just think about the same words, over and over again.
“The best thing for (Y/N) is to spare her suffering,” the softer voice says. Two prisoners together and you tied with chains, what a waste. You weren't even interested in interpreting the words that came out of their mouth. You only wanted their flesh.
Kill, eat, sleep
“No! There has to be a way to…” The figure in black insists. In her desperation, you find pleasure. Just the way you like prey, defenseless. But no, you were the defenseless one, you were tied.
The hunger begins to be too much and your body moves on its own, lunging towards those two pieces of meat. The pain in your neck when stretching the chain is unbearable. You go back against the wall, crashing with the same force you launched yourself with.
“Come on, (Y/N), calm down, please,” the black figure says again. She was talking to you and you knew it, but you can't understand why, you can't know who or what is (Y/N). It’s probably prey, a delicious piece of meat that is going to satisfy your needs.
“Maybe she's hungry,” says another, higher-pitched voice, making you turn your head as you struggle against the chains. No, it’s not prey, it’s not meat.
“Is it true, (Y/N)?” The figure in black asks. Her features are familiar, her scent is different. It doesn't smell like prey, it smells like flowers. “Are you, are you hungry?”
That question was aimed directly at you. A female figure who was wearing a black dress. Her figure is clearly seen in your eyes, for some reason, you can't stop looking at her. Maybe it was that, or maybe it's just you're really hungry. Hungry, yes, you understand that.
You shake your head up and down, thinking that this way your plea for food would be heard. The figure further back approaches abruptly, looking you in the eyes.
“What did you just do?” That black and gold prey asks, keeping the distance, but watching you.
You can't know what she's talking about. Hunger yes, strange questions, no.
“Are you hungry?” the woman in gold asks, to which your head moves again. Her face now is curious. “Well, well…”
“What's wrong?” The prey with the black dress asks, holding that piece of talking non-meat.
“It's curious. Normally Lycans are not able to communicate, not even with such simple gestures,” the woman explains, you ignore it. You're not interested, you want to eat.
Lycans? What's that? More prey?
“What do you mean?” the flower lady asks. The noises they make when talking make you nervous, you are still hungry.
“Well, I don't want to give you false hope... But you may have a small chance of saving her,” the bird woman says. Yes, that mask is like a delicious bird.
The lady in black smiles, she is happy, you can tell. You would be too if you had someone to eat.
“Please, Mother Miranda, tell me what I have to do,” the lady begs, joining her hands. The more she moves, the more intense the floral scent. That calms you down, but it's not enough. You want to take off your chains and get out of that dark place, you want prey.
“I wish I could tell you, Donna,” that bird sighs. “The only thing you have to do is to hurry, or the Cadou will eliminate any trace of her consciousness, if is any left... Well, and I advise you to feed her, or she will become even more furious.”
The bird falls silent and moves, leaving your range of vision. You can't follow her, you're chained. You roar angrily, struggling with your restraints. The woman in black looks at you, water falling from her eye. She cries, you know she cries and you feel something, you feel... Pity.
Darkness reigns in that place. You are alone, you have no prey. You have nothing, only chains with you fight against to. You're hungry, you're starving.
You can hear footsteps in the distance, footsteps of a prey, which makes you lick your lips, drool anxiously. You can't see beyond that smell, an intense, appetizing smell. The flower lady brings you meat, a big piece of meat, and you fight to escape again. It was not necessary, that prey remained still, waiting to be devoured.
The pleasure you feel when sinking your fangs into that piece of meat is unmatched. You feel alive, euphoric, you want to grunt, you want to call your companions to share that feast. But no matter how loud you roar, no one was going to come with you, you were locked up.
“I will save you, I promise, (Y/N),” that woman says, sobbing, while you only focus on eating, on feeding yourself. You hadn't killed, but at least you had eaten.
Your breathing relaxes after the feast. You are sated, alone and chained. You can't do anything but drop to the ground. Your bloodlust calms little by little and your vision of your own body becomes clearer. You see claws, hair, blood. You feel uncomfortable, as if something doesn't fit, as if you weren't like that, as if you had once been something different.
Those thoughts hurt your head, they make you scream, but you can't do anything but growl. The efforts to escape had left you tired, your body asked you to rest, asked you to lie down and close your eyes.
Kill, eat, sleep...
“Hello, Lady Beneviento, I bring you the fabrics,” you said with a smile.
The day is sunny and there is no hair in your hands, there are no fangs in your mouth, only skin, only a smile on your face.
The lady in black opened the door for you, letting you pass suspiciously.
“Where is the Duke?” She asked, holding the doll in her arms.
You shrugged and shook your head.
“Hasn't he told you? He has hired me as his assistant,” you explained, spreading some cloths on the hall table. “Come on. Tell me which ones you like.”
“The Duke works alone,” the lady in black said, with that mysterious veil on her face. She didn't seem to trust you, and you couldn't blame her for that.
“Yeah, well... He worked,” you joked, cutting a piece of the fabric that she pointed out. “I guess we all need some help from time to time,” you said amused, marking another piece of gray fabric with a pencil.
“Not me,” the woman said, touching the soft texture of the product. You nodded with a smile.
“No? Well, how lucky you are,” you said, avoiding that doll, Angie, from bothering you while you were cutting. “But I understand you, people suck, right?”
“You're very talkative,” she said, annoyed, keeping her hands together in front of her body.
“Sorry, factory defect,” you commented jokingly. “If it bothers you, I'll keep quiet. I don't want you to send me traveling trough the traumas of my past.”
“Why would I want to do that?” Lady Beneviento asked, with an offended tone.
“Well, that's what you do, right?” You said, following her instructions, cutting more fabric.
“Only with people I don't like,” she explained. You couldn't tell if she was joking, she was quite a strange woman.
“Do you dislike me?” You asked with a mischievous look, carefully folding the fabrics.
“Are you hallucinating?” She asked, back. You shook your head, raising your eyebrows.
“Mmm, no, I don't think so.”
"Well, so this is the answer,” she finally said, handing you a bag of coins and turning to turn her back on you. “Tomorrow I want the white fabric lace that I asked for.”
“Tomorrow? Tomorrow I have to go to the factory to…” You said confused by that request. It wasn't on your list. “Could it be that you just want to see me again?” You asked jokingly, with that audacity typical of you.
“Maybe,” she whispered, disappearing from your field of vision like a ghost.
Maybe…
That voice reverberates in your head over and over again as you open your eyes again. Everything you had seen in your mind fades away when your instincts wake up, when you wake up. The chains are still attached to your neck and dried blood decorates your fur. Had you dreamed?
A terrible thirst makes you forget all those confusing images. You've woken up, it's just another day, or so you think. You have to kill.
Kill, eat, sleep...
The very sound of heels disturbs you, makes you alert, get up. The sound of the chains hurts your ears.
But it is not a piece of fresh meat that appears. It’s that woman in black, the same one you saw in your dreams. In her arms she carries what looks like a bucket of water. Water… Yes, yes, you are very thirsty.
The lady leaves it in front of you and you go for it, putting your head inside of it, eagerly drinking the liquid of life while she watches you. Her eye is red. You know how to recognize sadness when you see it, but you don't know why. You are not able to feel anything else, you cannot think about anything other than escaping, running, jumping through the forest, hunting. Yes, those are your only thoughts.
“It was my fault,” the woman in black murmurs, leaning against what looks like a small stone wall.
The smell of stagnant water comes from there. It looks like an old well. Little by little that place stops seeming strange to you.
You look at her, leaving the bucket empty, letting yourself fall to the ground. You're hungry, but not too hungry. That woman seems curious to you, she still smells like flowers. It's not meat, but it's nice, you feel good.
“Please, (Y/N), tell me you're there...” She says, looking into your eyes, eyes that stung, that were surely red, like hers. “Tell me it's not too late for you to recover.”
You don't understand her. You don't know what she wants. You only see her as the prey that brings you food and water. There is nothing else on your mind, not even that strange dream.
Your gaze is lost in her figure and your breathing is calm. The woman turns away from the well and walks slowly towards you. Your instincts become alert, but you don't move, you can't. The smell of flowers is pleasant.
“Remember me? Do you know who I am?” She asks, moving closer, reaching out her trembling hand toward your paws. You get nervous, the sound of blood returns to your ears.
Don't come any closer.
Her skin makes contact with your claw. You feel the need to tear her arms apart, to devour her, but you can't do it. You stay still, fighting your own anxiety. The woman looks at you pleadingly, waiting for an answer, something to tell her that someone is inside of you. No, no, no, no. There is nothing inside of you, only bloodlust, only death, only prey.
You get more nervous, you shake your head confused, not knowing what you are, who you are. Questions that your mind can't process, that doesn't want to process. You growl, menacingly, baring your teeth at that cheeky piece of meat. You want to devour her, kill her. You want the smell of flowers to disappear.
You move quickly, attacking the woman, managing to scratch her skin, tearing the black fabric of her dress. Blood, that prey bleeds, and you like blood. She screams and falls to the ground, looking at you in horror.
Why are you looking at me like that?
“Donna, Donna!” That shrill voice comes to her aid. It was the puppet of your dreams.
Donna… What a strange and familiar word.
The woman steps back and pulls something out of her dress, crying, her arm hurt. You have done that, you have caused her pain. You shouldn't feel bad, but you do. The doll takes the sharp object and fights against your spasms, against the desire you had to break that porcelain into a thousand pieces.
You feel a sting in your neck and you claw at the air. Your strength gradually decreases, as if you were sleepy, but you just slept, you shouldn't feel like that.
Your legs give out and you fall to the ground. You can't move, you can only see that woman bleeding, approaching you again and collecting your head in her arms.
“I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, tesoro...” She whispers into your weak ears, unable to process nothing but her voice. Your sense of smell was saturated with the flowers and the tiredness is getting stronger, making you weak, making darkness loom over you.
“Checkmate, Donna, she's KO,” that insufferable doll murmured.
Checkmate…
“Checkmate,” the lady in black said, knocking down the last piece left on your board. You growled furiously, but amused, crossing your arms.
“You don't get tired of winning, huh?” You joked, sighing in defeat. She laughed through her veil.
“You don't think things through, (Y/N),” she said with a soft voice, rearranging the pieces on the board.
“I don’t? Well, I've always been told that,” you murmured, leaning your back on the couch. “Maybe if I thought things through, I wouldn't be here with you instead of neglecting my obligations.”
“Is it a bother for you to be with me?” She asked, offended. You shook your head hastily.
“What? No, no, it was just a joke,” you said confused, used to her insecurities. “Anyway, I think I should go home, before the Lycans devour me…”
“But it’s too soon,” she said, getting up from the couch, with a broken voice. “Could you, could you stay for dinner with me.”
“Are you asking me on a date?” You asked amused.
“No, I...” Donna said, fleeing from that accusation, a well-founded accusation.
“No? Well, then I guess I’ll leave and…” You whispered, standing up. A hand on your wrist stopped you from moving and you smiled victoriously.
“What would you tell me if I asked you on a date?” She asked nervously, keeping her hand on your skin.
“I would tell you why you haven't asked me before, Donna.”
I would say why you haven't asked me before, Donna...
Abruptly, you open your eyes. The pain in your head is unbearable, your temples throb and your hunger calls for help again. You growl, annoyed by that dizziness. So you can't hunt, you can't kill. You are weak and the black figure in front of you was responsible, that overwhelming perfume of flowers. Donna. That name spins around in your head. You can't help but relate it to the lady in black.
“She has woken up! Give me another syringe,” Angie doll squeals. You hadn't realized how close she was until she disappeared. You want to destroy that doll, you want your prey.
“No, Angie, it seems like she's calm,” Donna said, yes, Donna. You're sure that's her name. Since when do preys have names? Maybe it's not prey, maybe the prey is you.
The irrational fear of fainting again makes you recoil, teeth bared threateningly. The lady in black has a bandaged arm. You recognized the smell of your attack. You smile seeing how you managed to hurt her, but you didn't want to. You're hungry, you're hungry again.
“(Y/N), please, comes to your senses. I know you are there, somewhere,” the woman says, approaching her doom again. You don't feel like attacking, but you are hungry, very hungry.
You groan and shake your head. You have the need to respond, something inside you is dying to come out, but no, you can't, you have to kill, you have to hunt.
Kill, eat, sleep...
“Gods...” That Donna murmurs, her eye crying again. Preys don't cry. Preys flee, they scream, they bleed to death, but they don’t cry, they don’t smell like flowers.
The lady disappears and you scream, roar, flee. Hunger drives you crazy, loneliness is not a problem, but you need to eat, you need to take off those chains.
Fortunately, another piece of meat arrives just in time. Donna brings it, Donna feeds you. She is not your prey, she brings food, blood. She takes care of you. Does she take care of you?
You senselessly devour that raw meat, feeling how your body relaxes, how your instincts calm down. You don't care, you're eating. That's the most important thing.
When only the bone remains, you throw it with a grunt across the dark room. A grateful feeling settles in your mind, your eyes drift to the lady in black, who seemed focused on some kind of book. She gets scared when you throw the bone, she looks at you carefully again.
You sit, sated, drooling, dried blood matting your fur.
“Have you finished?” She asked kindly. No, preys are not kind, preys flee.
Your hand plays tricks on you. You extend one of your claws towards her, you don't really know why. You don't feel like killing, you want to reach your prey, but not devour it, just touch it.
She avoids you, but she can't seem to do it. She grabs your claw with her hand. Your eyes are lost, staring at the bandage on her arm. You did that, you hurt your prey, Donna.
“D…D…” Some clearer sounds come out of your mouth, tripping over the blood that was still between your jaws. Your throat struggled to pronounce a word, that word that had been floating around in your mind.
“Do you want to say something?” She asks, looking at you carefully, with curiosity, surprised by those strange noises.
“Do, Do... Donna,” you finally say, making a superhuman effort. No, you're not human, not anymore.
“Yes, tesoro, yes, I'm Donna, do you remember me?” She says with a broken voice, with her eye shining, excited.
You nod, not sure if you're telling the truth, you don't even know what telling the truth means. You once knew it, now you don't.
She cries excitedly, putting your claws on her face. You wanted to tear her apart, but you couldn't. Her name still echoed in your head, looking at her smile made you calm down.
But that's where your moment of lucidity ends. Your instincts attack again, causing the lady to flee from you, your prey to escape again.
The days go by and you remain the same, perhaps more hungry, more thirsty, perhaps more growling, more desperate attempts to escape. Donna is still with you, she is always with you, even at the risk of you killing her, of devouring her as your body asked. No, you didn't, you didn't speak again either.
“Come on, say something, I know you can,” the lady in black asks you, with her faithful squire Angie covering her. If by chance your desire to attack increased, she would stick that strange spike in you that made you fall asleep. You didn't want that. “I'm really trying, (Y/N), I'm trying to save you.”
You look at her confused, tilting your head, making her huff and pace from side to side. You were calm, you had just eaten.
Kill, eat, sleep, D…D…
Sighing, you laid down on the ground, feeling comfort in your fur. You didn't want to continue listening to that woman. To sleep was your next step.
“Please, say something, anything, (Y/N), please let me know that I haven't lost you,” Donna says, moving closer, knowing that when you were sleeping, you were almost defenseless. Her voice sounded very close, and her scent was intense. The flowers were pretty, they were not prey. She was pretty.
You growl in annoyance, pushing her hand away from your hair in an unpleasant manner. She backs away, but she doesn't seem to want to give up.
Don't bother me anymore, Donna. I don't want to devour you.
“Please, say something, I know you can... Please, (Y/N),” she insists, hurting your ears, making you squirm and the sound of the chains muffling her voice. “I don't care what you say, please, even if it's something stupid...”
Her words have no effect on you. You want to sleep, you need to sleep. Donna sobs and turns away from you, walking up the stairs, running away from you. You breathe a sigh of relief for having freed yourself from her annoying presence and curl up on yourself, sleeping.
Something stupid…
A strange music begins to play in your head, a familiar melody... A voice you didn't know...
Then afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
The music surrounds that strange atmosphere. A room, a song, a dance, two dresses moved by turns, two lovers.
And then I go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid like, "I love you"
Your hands rested on her shoulder while your eyes admired her smile. Donna danced with you, you danced with her. That romantic melody clouded your senses. Your hand in her waist, her hand in yours in soft movements, with looks of love.
The record was spinning in the player. The sun came in through the windows, making your shadows dance too. The smile on your face was impossible to look at, the smile when looking at hers, when seeing her beauty without that veil.
Your heart was pounding as you touched her dress, her skin. Donna smiled and rested her head on your shoulder. You wanted nothing but to keep dancing, even if the music ended. Your smile was camouflaged as you lean in to kiss her, to feel her lips on yours. Donna sighed, joining that kiss, running her hands over your waist, over your chest. The music continued playing, her hands wandered over your body, yours over hers.
“I love you, (Y/N)” her lips whispered. Yours smiled. “I want you to live with me, I want you to never leave.”
You nodded, playing with her hands, not missing a beat, giving her a spin before taking her firmly in your arms and bending her over slightly, holding her back.
“I love you, Donna,” you said, kissing her romantically. “I would love to live with you, spend my life with you.”
She kissed you again, cupping your face in her hands emphasizing the happiness those words brought her. The kisses became hot, her hand grabbing yours, saying nothing, dragging you towards the elevator, towards the bedroom.
The music was still playing. The song was ending, just like your dream.
I love you,
I love you…
Your eyes open again, it's another day. Thirst and hunger are no longer a problem. Donna made sure you had everything you needed. Your neck hurts. You have wounds, probably from having been trying to escape. Curious that you hadn't realized it until now. Your instincts scream for you to listen to them, but eating or sleeping are no longer the only things your body asks of you.
Kill, eat, sleep, Donna…
That melody of your dreams is still in your head, it continues sending images, memories to your heart, if you still had one. The piece of meat that you had in front of you calls you, but you are not able to pay attention to it, you are hungry, eat.
You extend your claws, but when you sink them into the flesh, you withdraw them in fear, why were you afraid? You don't want to eat, you're not hungry, or so you think. You're scared, you need Donna. You look for her.
She is there, far from you, far from your attacks, from your ferocity. You try to call her but you can't, you cry from helplessness, you put your claws on the metal collar, you feel the sting of your wounds.
“D, D... Do... Don,” you murmured, your voice hoarse, but clearer. You fight with your damaged vocal cords, but it's useless. You can't talk. You're a Lycan, now you know.
She doesn't listen to you. She's lost in her books. You have to roar, you have to scream, you have to make her listen to you.
“Do, Do, Donna!” You scream in a guttural, heartbreaking voice, one that scares the lady in black and makes Angie take out the usual syringe.
“(Y/N),” Donna murmurs, running towards you, crouching down to observe you, as she did lately, observe you, look at you.
Her eye goes from your face to the intact piece of meat. Her expression becomes confused, her brow furrows, and she looks back at you.
“You're not hungry?” She asks, nervously playing with her hands. Yes, she was afraid of you, she was your prey. She already was.
You shake your head sharply, putting your hands on your head, trying to make that strange pain go away. Donna doesn't come closer and you want her to, you need her smell of flowers on your fur, you need her hugs, the ones you dreamed of. But she fears you, you attacked her, you scratched her arm, you were going to devour her, she was your prey, she still is.
Your words are the only thing that seems to calm her, you had to speak, you had to try, but you couldn't pronounce anything, only that song played again in your head.
“I… Practice… Every… Day,” you murmur, the song guiding your actions. It was the only thing you could say, the only thing in your head. Donna looks at you confused, shaking her head, stepping closer. “To find some clever lines to say…”
The lady in black crouches next to you, looking at you strangely, looking for the hidden humanity in you, the one that made you sing that song that meant so much to her, and to you.
“But then I think I'll wait, until the evening gets late...” Donna sings, with a soft voice that numbs your senses. You try to smile, you really want to.
Kill, eat, sleep, Donna, I love you...
“And I'm alone with you,” you two whisper in unison.
Donna cries again, she smiles, brings her hand closer to your hairy, blood-stained face. She's not afraid of you, you don't disgust her, she loves you, you love her. Now you know, now you remember. You haven't died yet.
“(Y/N),” she sobs, throwing herself into your arms, hugging your beastly body. You are confused, you should want to kill her, devour her, but the only thing you can do is to hug her, is to feel the heat of her hug in your hair, in the worn parts that remained of your dress. You were not a Lycan. You were a woman, a human being. You once were the woman Donna loved, the one who made her happy, the one who made that smile.
Her tears should alert you, tell you that your prey was weak, but they didn't, they made you feel bad. No, she was no longer your lover, nor your prey, you were no longer her love, you were a monster.
“Gods…. (Y/N)...” She sobs again, without letting you go, letting you also seek comfort in her arms. The perfume of those flowers never seemed so pleasant to you.
“I... I love you...” You whispered with difficulty, with your fangs preventing you from speaking clearly, from appearing human, you weren't, you would never be again.
“My love, my tesoro...” The doll maker murmurs, broken with pain, letting herself be embraced by the weapons that were your arms, your claws, burying in your skin.
“Donna...” You say, rubbing your head on her body, wanting that comfort that only she could give to you. But no, you weren't going to say something nice. You are aware of what you are. The images of how you got to that situation became torture in your mind.
One night, cold, wolves, bite, you get sick, you die, you wolf now.
You knew Miranda had experimented on you when you were a little girl, but the Cadou didn't develop until that bite, until that unexpected attack from the Lycans. You were just like them. You would never be (Y/N) again.
“Kill me...” You ask with a hoarse voice, your decision clearer. She looks at you, pulling away from your chest, her eye shining, red with tears.
“What? No...” She sighs, those words hurt her, they hurt her and you don't know why. You weren't going to come back. If you couldn't love her, you didn't want to live. You didn't want to be a monster. You didn't want to see her as your prey. Either love, or death.
“Kill me,” you insisted, with an irrational rage beginning to build up in your guts. The hunger had returned, but you had to fight, take advantage of that small moment of humanity. You want it to end, you want the suffering to end. You want Donna to be safe, from you.
“No, no, (Y/N),” she says, shaking her head, holding your chin, cupping your jaws with her hands. The smell of the flowers is starting to be annoying again. “I'll save you, I, I'm working on a serum, I'll save you, (Y/N).”
“Kill me!” You roared, causing her to fall to the ground. The ferocity had returned and the smell of that intact piece of meat was becoming unbearable.
Pushing the lady in black again, you dive into your food, forgetting about that song, those desires to die. You wanted to eat, you needed to eat. Not even the desire to die was strong enough to make your hunger disappear.
“How is she going?” A strange voice wakes you up, that appetizing bird woman. Your hunger calls you, but, as always, you have your food in front of it, you go for it.
“She's better, or so I think,” Donna says, her voice breaking. Her appearance is pitiful, even a Lycan like you realizes that.
Kill, eat, sleep, Donna, I love you, I want to die...
Instincts speak for you. Your conscience is locked under bloodlust. You didn't speak again. You were no longer capable of even grunting something close to her name. Only sometimes, when your lucidity allowed it, you wanted to stop existing, stop being a monster.
“It doesn't seem like it,” Mother Miranda murmured, yes that was her name, she did that to you, but you don't hate her, you admire her, you owe her loyalty.
“She spoke a few weeks ago, she said my name,” Donna says, holding her guardian Angie, the prick doll, in her arms.
“Mm, that doesn't mean anything. The total transformation is different for each specimen,” the blonde says, looking at you out of the corner of her eye. “It's a lost cause, Donna, you should stop trying.”
“I can’t stop. I already have an almost ready serum, it could work,” the lady in black protests. You don't listen, you just eat. You just tear the meat from the bone. “She, she said that she wanted, that she wanted me to kill her.”
“Mm,” the witch murmurs again. She seemed to have no feelings, like you. “It could have been a cry for help, don't you think?”
“I know she is there, somewhere, I have, I have to help her...” Donna comments.
Don't insist, you are my prey.
“Maybe helping her is fulfilling her last wishes,” Miranda says, getting a little closer.
I can't kill you, you are my mistress, I owe you loyalty. My body says it, my hunger says it. I can't eat that bird.
“What do you mean?” Donna asks, approaching the bird.
“Donna, you're putting yourself in danger,” Miranda states, observing in disgust your voracious hunger and the constant drooling you made when eating. “I have given you a whole month to solve this. I can't let you.”
“But, but,” the doll maker protests, with a sad, scared look.
Yes, yes, you are scared. You are my flower-smelling prey.
“Enough, Donna. I’m very sorry that this has ended this way,” the bird interrupts, untouchable bird.
“Please, Mother Miranda, let me try, please,” Donna begs, kneeling before the bird. You look at her curiously, licking the bone that was left from your meal, grunting in satisfaction at your satiety.
“Mm, you said you had a serum,” the blonde comments, an omnipotent bird.
“Yes, but, but it's not finished,” Donna says, nodding, getting up from the ground. Her doll nodded as well. “I need more time, just a little more.”
Miranda shakes her head and you groan in confusion. They are talking about you and you didn't realize it.
“Give it to her,” the bird orders, to which the lady in black shakes her head again. “You've already wasted too much time. It's the last chance.”
“It's not finished,” Donna says, scared again.
Flowers…
“I don’t care! Obey, Donna,” the blonde screeches, echoing off the walls and causing an horrible damage to your ears. “You are lucky that I give you that opportunity. If your serum doesn't work, (Y/N) will die, I will end her suffering.”
Who is (Y/N)? Another prey? I'm thirsty.
The lady nods with a sad look, disappearing up the stairs.
When she returns, she is carrying something in her hand, a jar with a strange liquid. It's not blood, you can't smell blood.
Donna approaches you slowly, cautiously, uncovering the jar. The smell is horrible. You couldn't smell the flowers anymore. Frightened and helpless, you back away, shaking your chains.
“Please drink it, please,” Donna begs, extending the jar towards you. Miranda sighs listlessly.
“Do I drug her? Do I drug her?” Angie asks, shaking her usual syringe in her hand.
“No, Angie, if you do it it won't work. She has to be awake,” Donna explains, trying to get you to drink from that horrible jar. You squirm, you kick, you shake your claws, until you couldn't do it. Something prevents you to.
The bird looks at you, as if concentrated. You look at your claws, stuck to the wall, held by black roots.
“Obey, drink,” the bird whispers, something that makes you react. She is your master, you owe her loyalty.
The liquid burned your sore throat, the taste was horrible, you preferred blood, meat, you wanted prey.
Nothing happens, time stops, the two women look at you and your throat continues to hurt. You're angry. You can't defend yourself. The taste of that liquid was horrible, you wanted blood. You drool while you show your teeth at Donna, she was the culprit, not Miranda, she was your owner, you her servant.
You want to kill Donna, devour her, but before you could feel that fury, a burning pain begins to burn your insides. You run your hands through your fur, trying to get rid of that internal fire, the fire that consumed your skin from within.
You roar, roar like never before as you stand up, tightening the chains that keep you pinned to the wall.
The pain is unbearable, all your skin burns, your eyes hurt, your legs hurt, but you have to escape, you have to kill. You couldn't stop roaring, wailing, moving your claws erratically until they landed on the collar on your neck.
Screaming again, with all the strength you had, you managed to break that collar in two and you moved triumphantly, howling in a terrifying way. The women look at you scared. The bird narrows her eyes, as if wanting to give you some orders. Her lips are moving, she is talking but you can't hear her. The pain is stronger, the pain is your master now.
Locating the perfume of flowers, you run on all fours towards the lady in black, who tries to flee, in vain.
You grab her, push her against a wall. The pain is strong, but you lick your lips, she is yours, your prey. The voices in your head cry out for your attention. You have to kill, tear apart, she has caused that horrible pain. Donna has caused it.
You roar in her face, making her close her eye. She doesn't fight to get away from you, she knows she can't. You double over in pain, but you keep her against the wall, you have to kill.
Kill, eat, sleep, Donna, I love you, I want to die
Kill, eat, sleep, Donna, I love you, I want to die
Kill… Eat… Donna, I love you, I want…
Kill… Eat… Donna… I love you.
Ki… Ea… Donna… I love you.
K…E… Donna, I love you.
Donna, I love you.
Your pain becomes strong and voices confuse your mind. Something wants to come out and you must let it go. You let Donna go and clawed at your head, roaring, roaring until the sound coming out of your mouth was more like a scream.
You scream in pain, you scream in the burning. You're screaming, not roaring. Donna looks at you scared, but she doesn't run away from you, she is no longer your prey, she is no longer... She is... She is...
Your mind overflows and you become dizzy, letting yourself fall forward. Warm arms pick you up. You no longer see anything, only darkness.
Only darkness
Your whole body aches, you move slowly, waiting to feel the hard rock beneath your feet. No, it's not rock that you feel, it's comfort, it's a soft surface, you are comfortable.
You open your eyes. There is no more well, no more meat, no water. There is no hunger, no thirst, no prey, just that smell of flowers that came from the sheets you were under.
Frightened, you sit up and see your hand. It was a human hand, soft, without fur, without blood, without claws. You bring that hand to your face, to your body. There's nothing, just soft skin, just some wounds.
Run your tongue over your teeth, there are no fangs. There are no instincts, there is only you. (Y/N), that's your name, you're human again.
“She's awake, she's awake!” Angie screams, jumping on the bed. You can't help but smile. That whole atmosphere was so familiar. Despite the pain in your body, you are happy.
“A... Angie, is that you?” You ask, extending your sore arm towards the doll, which nods fervently. Yes, Angie, it's Angie.
“Hello, hello!” She squeals again, shaking your hand as if she just met you.
Hurried heels reached your ears. That noise no longer hurt you, it no longer sounded loud. It was no longer an approaching prey.
“Gods, (Y/N)!”Donna screams, smiles, cries, she throws herself into your arms. You, confused, but happy, hug her back, remembering how good her warmth felt on your body. “(Y/N), tesoro…”She sobs against your bare skin, grabbing your face with a look of pure happiness.
“What…? What happened?” You ask, having vague memories, something in your body that asked you to eat meat, although the part that prevented it was still stronger. “Have I died?”
Donna shakes her head, with a wide, sincere smile.
“No, no, my love, you're alive... I've saved you,” she says enthusiastically. You put your hands in hers and smile. Yes, it's Donna, your Donna. You are alive, she has saved you.
“I'm a bit... Dizzy,” you say, enjoying her caresses. “But I'm glad to see you.”
“You've been asleep for three days, I thought you wouldn't wake up,” she explains, lying down on the bed and placing your pillow. Her gaze darkens, you remember why.
“Well, I guess I'm back,” you comment, smiling at your love, at your everything, at your Donna. Yes, she saved you, in too many ways. “Maybe, maybe you don't believe me but... I haven't stopped thinking about you all this time.”
“I know,” the lady in black responds, nodding and leaning towards your lips, kissing them, making you hug her even tighter. You don't want to lose contact.
Laugh, cry, love, Donna…
You separate, as if it were a dream, you caress her pale skin, her black hair. You drown in her flower perfume. You were back, and you were happy. She cries and so do you. You were back, you would never leave again.
“Donna, I love you,” you say loud and clear with your human voice, one that spoke without problems, that said everything it wanted to say.
“I love you, my love...” Donna responds, burying herself in your aching body. You laugh, knowing that the previous month was nothing but a nightmare that you didn't want to remember again.
“Hey...” You sigh, with an amused look. You were always too much of a joker. “I'm hungry.”
