Did you know❓ FINDER, which stands for Finding Individuals for Disaster and Emergency Response.. It is a collaboration between NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California, and the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate in Washington. Shock Absorbers Pt.1!

Hi everyone! 

Had a nice weekend? I sure did. Right on with today’s first part on shock aborbers!

I first saw this very innovative piece of technology discovered a few years back. For centuries humans have been affected by earthquakes of high magnitudes disrupting lives and many economies. Families are destroyed and buildings are violently torn down day by day from the constant tectonic activity which some people live upon.

Finally, a group of innovative people who specialise in finding a new solution for tackling the challenge of creating virtually earthquake proof architecture. First of which is entirely redesigning the whole idea of a building’s foundation derivative of most of today’s suspension and shock absorbing systems. One of many ways is to dissipate the shock from earthquakes horizontally. 

A SLIDING BASE! Imagine a house or mid-rise apartment with a sliding foundation as shown in the image attached to this post! This design has been tested on earthquake simulator platforms which is basically a giant vibrating ground where earthquake structures can be tested upon (I’ll show you in the next post!)

So technically as the earthquake occurs the house will move along with the earthquake effectively minimising any broken windows, vases, or damaging any other valuable assets inside your house!
