#terror : comme y a déjà eu plein de dessins déjà terrorisants ce mois ci, là j'ai voulu imaginer une situation ultra anxiogène. Des êtres invincibles qui déracinent chaque arbre et tue quiconque tente de les replanter, des groupes de résistants tentent de survivre d'arbre en arbre avec des bouteilles d'oxygène mais sont affaiblis, en hypoxie, et tombent sous les tirs des monstres... la lutte de tous les instants pour une bouffée d'oxygène... Earthlungs is a body of work that reflects my perception of the land and sky around me, as it breathes ever-changing colours and moods”

I really love Valerie Wartelle’s felted artwork as each piece is full of drama and atmosphere. I personally think some felted artwork can appear dated largely due to garish blends of colours, and think that subtler tones can look more sophisticated. However, the natural, earthy shades within each piece of Wartelle’s work certainly reflect the intensity of the weather on the landscape. Looking at her work I am reminded of vivid descriptions of weather and pathetic fallacy in Literature, such as Daphne Du Maurier’s ‘Jamaica Inn’.
