I'm so behind on earbiscuit eps but I love what Rhett just said about people giving career advice so much:

however, it got me thinking. if they ever do get divorces, i feel like Rhett's will quietly fizzle out but Link's is gonna be messy. is that weird?

It’s not weird for several reasons. What I discuss below is purely theoretical of course.

Link and Christy are both more thunderous people but at the same time they are both more sincere than the McLaughlins. Christy has always been somewhat possessive of Link and would not like to break up with him. So if they do, perhaps she will make a mess and due to his honesty Link would be more likely to talk openly about it.

Rhett and Jessie are both very concerned with what others think. Rhett would probably not want to admit that a potential divorce was anything other than amicable or desired and agreed by both of them. Jessie perhaps would not like to make it seem like one of the two was getting the short end of the stick in this marriage (in case this indeed happened). So I think they would both agree to separate amiably and quietly in order to maintain their good look, even if there were feelings of resentment underneath.
