Handwoven Headbands from Nepal: Perfect for Every Season and Style
When it comes to multi-functional fashionable accessories-the Baba headbands come up to age as the best in the list of timeless choices. These are much beyond fashion; they are a total mix of art, tradition, and utility. The headbands, as per my knowledge, are woven by hand using the age-old techniques by artisans. Today, these headbands are globally recognized for their unparalleled quality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
Tumblr media
Whether you prepare for the cold winters or are looking for a light summer accessory, these handwoven headbands from Nepal will suit all styles and seasons. In this blog, we will see what makes these headbands so special and why they deserve to be in your wardrobe.
The Art of Handweaving: A Nepalese Tradition
Nepal is known for its rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship, and handwoven headbands are a shining example of this legacy. Each headband is handspun with utmost utmost customization by skilled artisans, even today often using the old traditional looms and techniques developed for hand-weaving generations ago.
The designs were inspired from the beauty of Nepal's scenic landscapes and cultural motifs, which result in elaborate patterns and bright colors. And thus, no two headbands are alike. Every headband is the unique creativity and touch of an artisan who made that particular headband.
Warmth and Comfort: Perfect for Cold Weather
One of the major uses of wool in Nepal is the weaving of headbands. Because of its insulation property, wool serves as a natural insulator and provides good warmth without the bulkiness of traditional winter hats.
Ear and forehead covers made up of wool headbands are cozy even in harshly cold temperatures. Be it along snowy trails while hiking or just going to work or evening walks, woollen headgear keeps one warm in a wonderfully chic manner.
Breathable and Lightweight: Ideal for Summer
In fact, handwoven headbands are not winter accessories alone, contrary to the general belief. Lightweight cotton or blended versions are actually ideal for use during the warm months. They absorb sweat and keep one comfortable throughout summer outdoor activities such as yoga, running, or attending festivals.
Such lightweight, breathable materials come as a bonus to this: they keep you looking stylish without relenting into comfort, even when it is donning hot.
A Fashion Statement for Every Style
Handmade Nepal headbands come pretty versatile; use them in any fashion for any occasion. Here is how one can use it to elevate one's look:
Casual Wear: Add a pop of color to your everyday outfit with a patterned headband.
Bohemian Vibes: Pair a vibrant, textured headband with flowing skirts and layered jewelry for a boho-chic aesthetic.
Outdoor Adventures: Keep hair in place while hiking or skiing, all while staying warm and stylish.
Formal Flair: Opt for a muted or monochrome design to complement a more polished look.
With a wide variety of designs, patterns, and colors available, there’s a headband for everyone.
Durable and Long-Lasting
These handwoven headbands are made to withstand the test of time. It's the craftsmanship and quality materials that keep them in shape, color, and functionality over time. Unlike their mass-produced counterparts, these headbands will not stretch out, fade, or lose their beauty after just a handful of uses.
Proper care, such as washing it by hand and air drying it, will extend the life of your headband; essentially making it an investment you would cherish for several years. Shop durable headbands for heaven and earth at Heavenly Himalayan.
Eco-Friendly and Sustainable
In this era of quick fashion, hand-knitted headbands made in Nepal have proved to be a wonderful sustainable alternative. These primary constituents, wool and cotton, are natural products and biodegradable. The hand weaving activity itself utilizes a most environmentally friendly method, and anywhere from little to no energy is employed during the whole cycle, producing very little waste.
Wearing a handwoven headband means a life that supports environmentally friendly fashion and reduces your carbon footprint.
Ethical Impact: Supporting Artisan Communities
Indeed one of the best reasons to choose hand woven headbands from Nepal is that your purchase has a tangible difference. Many of these headbands are produced under fair trade processes where artisans receive proper wages and work in safe, ethical conditions.
For many rural women in Nepal, this crafting of headbands for sale is their sole means of livelihood to keep their family going and improve their way of life. You buy these headbands and thus directly promote the welfare of such communities while also preserving the art of weaving.
Perfect for Gifting
If you are looking to give a thoughtful and meaningful gift, then nothing can be better than this beautiful handwoven headband. Its unique look and cultural significance make it unforgettable on any birthday, holiday, or special occasion. Besides, the present combines beauty and purpose: it contributes to sustainable and ethical practices.
Why Hand Woven Headbands from Nepal Are Worth It
Handwoven headbands from Nepal bring about a unique blend of style, practicality, and ethics. Versatile enough for any season, really sturdy enough to hold for years, beautiful enough to enhance any outfit, not to mention the inherent factors that brought them about.
Beyond their functionality and aesthetic appeal, these headbands represent a commitment to sustainability, tradition, and community support. Choosing these accessories does not just ornament your wardrobe-it becomes an endorsement of the world in which you would like to live.
Find Your Perfect Hand Woven Headband
Are you ready to know the magic of Nepali skills? Heavenly Himalayan is where you can find the hands-down best collection of handcrafted headbands from Nepal. Halloween with Sevika, Little Fucker and the twins?
Little Fucker wears an inflatable Garfield costume
this is fucking adorable
men and minors dni
it's the twins' first halloween.
sevika was never big on halloween until little fucker came along-- but upon realizing that the holiday gave her an excuse to dress her baby up in adorable little costumes she fell in love with the whole thing. and now that you've got three kids, sevika's a certified halloween lover.
tonight, you've decided to be a family of cats.
little fucker fell in love with an inflatable garfield costume she found at the costume store-- it cost nearly a hundred dollars and you had to buy an air pump to inflate the thing, but it's all worth it for the excited little dance she keeps doing inside her costume and the cackles you get from your neighbors as garfield comes running up their yard begging for candy.
the twins are all bundled up in their stroller-- both of them in kitty onesies, little whiskers painted on their cheeks with some white eyeliner you found in the bathroom. they've been asleep a majority of the night, but on occasion they'll wake up to belly laugh at their big sister, jumping around in her garfield costume.
you've stolen a cat-ear headband from little fucker's stash, dressing practically besides that and the black scarf little fucker stuffed in your back pocket to act as your tail.
and sevika's looking sexy as hell as a half-assed cat-woman-- most of the sexy leather costume replaced with her own warmer clothes, but she's kept the mask. (and the whip-- which is waiting at home for the two of you to play with once the girls sugar crash.)
"ma! the jamison's are giving out full sized candy bars!" little fucker shouts as she toddles up to the stroller, candy trailing after her as it falls out of her little pail. sevika chuckles and cleans up after her daughter, stashing the candy she's dropped in her own pockets.
"oh god, what are we gonna do with all this candy!?" you ask, grabbing your daughter's pillowcase. she cackles.
"eat it, silly!" she squeals. you snort and tug your little inflatable cat to your chest.
"how are you gonna get it in your mouth if your all sealed in there, garfield?" you tease. little fucker giggles.
"mom's been shoving candy bars through the little air slots here." she says. you cackle.
"she's a horrible influence on you."
"you talkin' about me?" sevika asks as she trails after the pair of you, pushing the stroller. you grin and turn around to wrap your wife up in a hug.
"always." you say.
sevika hums, kissing your cheek as you watch little fucker take off for the next house. "she's fucking adorable." sevika chuckles as you watch the orange cat bob up the porch.
"she's so fucking happy in that costume. i dunno if we're gonna be able to get her out of it tomorrow." you laugh. sevika giggles. "i dunno how she even knows who garfield is."
"she doesn't. she just saw the big orange cat costume and pulled out the puppy eyes." says. you laugh.
"ma! can the babies try some m and ms?" little fucker asks as she jogs back up to her little family, waving a bag of m and ms at the stroller.
"just smush 'em up first." sevika says with a shrug.
you watch your eldest daughter carefully crush two separate m and m's and gently feed each of her sisters the candy. shithead squeals with excitement at the sugar, and stinkerbutt manages to get chocolate in her hair. little fucker bends down, trying to kiss her sisters through her costume. they both burst into cackles as the giant inflatable cat's head invades their stroller.
beside you, sevika sighs happily and kisses your head. you grin, reaching out to wrap your hand in hers, then nudging the stroller forward. "c'mon, kids, i hear the next house gives out hot chocolate!"
"oh fuck yes!" little fucker squeals as she takes off down the sidewalk.
beside you, sevika cackles.

So... Sarada's Timeskip Design
Tumblr media
First some positives:
The design works in both Haruno(choker, red) and Uchiha(earrings, black) elements. Even though they are few, I prefer it over the complete absence of both like we got in her last manga design
I like the somewhat unique choice in headband placement
The outfit is pretty fashionable and I can easily picture a teenager wearing it
Her earrings are a nice touch
Her haircut is really cute
Now the negatives(oh god are there negatives). I can't shorten this to simple bullet points so I hope you like the paragraph format. First, the obvious:
It Doesn't Look Practical In The Least
She's wearing big-ass heels, her leg warmers are loose enough to get caught under her feet, her shorts(the bottom half of her romper?) are short enough to give her a wedgie, she has pretty much no leg protection, the shuriken holster attached to her leg without bandages looks uncomfortable, the belt is completely useless, her jacket is baggy and unzipped and begging to fall off, her sleeves look like they'd get in the way during combat, her glasses feel noticeably fragile, and what woman in their right mind would wear a strapless bra into combat? (I can only let the last one slide because it's two men who're working on this manga) If not for the metal plate, shuriken holster, and open-toed shoes, I wouldn't even think she was a ninja(or from the Naruto franchise, for that matter). Lack of practicality doesn't tend to bother me since this is fantasy and every character wearing maximum practicality outfits would get boring, but Sarada looks like they didn't even make an attempt at making her look combat ready. Still, all of this would be fine if not for my next point.
This Doesn't Look Like Something Sarada Would Wear
If impracticality was in character or served a narrative purpose, it would be a point in the designs favor. Except, Sarada isn't the type of character to wear something so impractical. In the manga, she's the character that takes being a ninja the most seriously, she's one of the few with clear goals, and she's the resident team leader and smart one. What part of her design tells us any of that? Yes, manga Sarada is weirdly flirtatious. But that aspect of her personality already contradicts her otherwise disinterest in boys and romance, it doesn't mesh well with her portrayal in the anime(which is also supposed to be canon), it's already an inconsistent part of her personality, and there's already been so many complaints about it(even in Japan from what I can tell) that you'd think that Ikemoto wouldn't continue with it.
Why Does It Invoke So Much Akatsuki?
This might just be me, but I think the design has too many nods to the Akatsuki. The oversized jacket, the fabric around the bottom of her leg, and the black, red, and white/silver color scheme in similar ratios. I'm not saying you'll confuse her for an Akatsuki member by any means and there were certainly more things they could've done to make her resemble the Akatsuki if that was their goal. What I'm saying is that if I were trying to make nods towards the former villain organization in a character's design, I'd use similar design elements.
The worst part is that this was entirely avoidable. Even ignoring that they could've scrapped the more impractical aspects of her design to avoid this, her color palette didn't even have to be this way. Red isn't the only color that can invoke connections to Sakura; shades of pink, light green, and white are also colors of Sakura. Black isn't even the most common color that Uchiha's wear, shades of dark purple and blue are. Purples and blues would've also been a better nod to Sasuke. Maybe they wanted her to wear "Uchiha colors," but, once again, those aren't really Uchiha colors. Black is, but red has only appeared in Madara's armor, the sharingan, and the clan crest and white has also only appeared in the clan crest(I don't even remember an Uchiha that ever wore silver). If you wanna argue that Sarada's color is red, then I ask why wouldn't they just keep red as her primary color instead of making it an accent? Her last manga design had black and white as accents, I don't think keeping her color palette the same would've bothered anyone. I know that Kishimoto added black to Naruto's design to help make him look more mature, but Sarada's design doesn't invoke "mature" anyways and it certainly isn't a more mature version of her last design because, much like the majority of the two blue vortex designs, it looks nothing like her last design. It's even worse than when they started adding too much black to Naruto's design because now it reminds people(or at least me) of an organization that I doubt she's meant to be affiliated with. But who knows? Maybe like the metal plate of her headband being on an easily removeable jacket, this is all foreshadowing to something.
I don't blame anyone for thinking this is a nitpick, but it bothers me and I wanted to express it.
Conclusion
Sarada's design is the worst for the same reasons her last design was the worst plus it looking too much like she took inspiration from the Akatsuki's wardrobe. Forget needing a second draft, this design needs to be scrapped and replaced. Maybe the anime will find a way to fix it, maybe it won't. Only time will tell and it'll hopefully tell us good news.
(Side note: why is she constantly drawn with her feet pointed inwards? it makes her look insecure.)

The 1980s
All About the 80s
the popularisation of, and globalisation of
The 1980s saw a greater diversity in fashion than ever before, with it changing quickly. Fashion trends travel more quickly and widely than ever before as a result of growing world integration and popular culture. The decade's clothing and styles reflected increasingly different groups. In the past, there would often be one or two dominating styles at any given time, but in the 1980s, a number of different and separate sets of trends were all sharing the popularity at the same time.
Tumblr media
Technology advancements, the growth of cable television, and networks like MTV made it easier for fans and viewers to see what celebrities were wearing, and a rising celebrity fascination propelled fashion to the fore of pop culture.
Tumblr media
Jacqui Palumbo. (2018). How MTV Has Radically Reinvented Its Look Over Nearly Four Decades. [Online]. www.artsy.net. Last Updated: 1 August 2018. Available at: https://www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-mtv-radically-reinvented-four-decades [Accessed 4 February 2023].
The newest styles that their favourite musicians and actors were sporting in the newest music videos, movies, or public appearances were easily imitated by young people by going to the closest retail centres. Additionally, this was one of the first occasions when celebrities turned into fashion models and vice versa. For designers like Calvin Klein, well-known celebrities like Michael J. Fox became brand ambassadors. Celebrity definitions began to include fashion as a key component, and it has only grown in importance since then.
The Style
Big teased hair or spiral perms for women, mullets or more clean-cut styles for men, baggy and oversized tops, leggings, high-waisted jeans, ripped and acid-washed denim, tight exercise wear for everyday (leg warmers and spandex), headbands, shoulder pads, boxy silhouettes, large bold prints, and vibrant pastels and brights are just a few examples of the decade's fashion and clothing/style trends.

BIG. In this decade of excess and consumerism, overconsumption, overindulgence, and plain excess were hallmark characteristics. It was a period of plenty, hope, and blatant greed.
Supersized versions of shoulder pads were back in style, and the "Power Suit" represented women's rising stature in the workplace. The word "Yuppie" was created to describe the Young Urban Professionals in their 20s and 30s who were career-driven and preoccupied with money. The Yuppie set favoured khaki slacks, classic blue blazers, immaculate white shirts, polos by Lacoste and Ralph Lauren, and cotton cardigans thrown over the shoulders or loosely tied in front as their go-to casual attire. Designer logos evolved into exclusive status markers.

In the 1980s, bedazzled evening clothing adorned with sequins and beads was considered glamorous, as shown in the hit TV programmes Dallas and Dynasty. Hair was extravagantly coiffed, teased, and permed to ever-greater lengths. The jewellery of the day, which included big statement necklaces and long, dangling earrings, was also bright and bold.

With the rise of MTV, which popularised music fashion, music continued to have a significant impact on fashion. In addition, several pop music singers developed into fashion icons. Legendary musicians like Annie Lenox, Boy George, David Bowie, and Grace Jones influenced androgyny in dress. Japanese fashion designers persisted in breaking down barriers in the industry by experimenting with sculptural, avant-garde designs that cross gender lines.

As part of this self-conscious and self-indulgent decade, the fitness boom of the 1980s gave rise to a fashion trend that brought dance and exercise wear from the studio and gym to the runway and the street. Women quickly embraced the neon leotards and leg warmers that Jane Fonda wore in her workout movies as fashionable accessories.

The Designers
Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood focused her attention on Adam Ant, the lead vocalist of Adam and the Ants, after the Sex Pistols split up. He served as a showcase for Westwood's most recent designs, which became known as New Romanticism. She made the brand-new romantic "Pirate" seem successful. Her business now includes ready-to-wear, haute couture, a designer line, and accessories including bags, shoes, and jewelry.
Giorgio Armani
The 1980s were dominated by brands. In terms of fashion, Armani was the most exclusive brand you could have and still be considered truly fashionable. One of the first brands to venture outside of merely clothing to include various things like socks, sunglasses, and perfumes.
Polo Ralph Lauren
Polo Ralph Lauren created the preppy style that became so fashionable in the 1980s, especially among the wealthy.
If you watch most 80s teen movies, the conceited popular man will be sporting a Ralph Lauren-inspired preppy look! PRL is one of the most popular styles even today. In 1981, Lauren established history by being the first American fashion designer to have a store in Europe. He had expanded his fashion company by 1983 to include home decor items like pillows, beds, and blankets.
Calvin Klein
One of the decade's most popular fashion designers. After beginning his work in the late 1960s, Klein became a major brand creator by the early 1980s. His creations brought in roughly £487 million worldwide in 1982. His sportswear was available in high-end and more budget-friendly pricing ranges. He subsequently began to associate his name with kitchen and home goods. In this era, the most popular items that Klein created for both men and women were pants and underwear.
John Paul Gaultier
Gaultier, a really distinctive fashion designer, led the way in avant-garde design during the whole decade. He set the trends, thus everyone else imitated him as a designer. combining his wild imagination with observations of street flair. Gaultier introduced the world to the most amazing fashion during the 1980s. Even Madonna, the most stylish woman of the 1980s, had clothes created by him.
Azzedine Alaia
Another French designer who altered the woman's silhouette is Azzendine Alaia. In the 1980s, the fashion press gave him the moniker "King of Cling." He experimented with fabrics that adhered closely to the body, and it is thought that he created the use of Lycra for many clothing, including the body suit, cycling shorts, and stretch miniskirt.
Thierry Mugler
Several designers will introduce a fresh silhouette to womenswear. By designing a more feminine style with highlighted curves in the 1980s, he helped fashion move away from the hippy movement of the 1970s. Compared to the flowing costumes of the "Me decade," this was a far cry. Mugler created angular dresses instead by angling the hips and shoulders. The designer, who insisted that his clothes were merely modern, was given the nickname "prophet of futurism" for his groundbreaking approach to fashion, which included incorporating vivid colours and a tinge of theatricality in his designs.
Christian Lacroix
In the 1980s, the French fashion designer Christian Lacroix is credited for inventing a flurry of fresh haute couture styles. He departed the Patou fashion house at the end of the decade and launched his own line.
Lacroix incorporated vivid colours like magenta, orange, yellow, green, and brilliant pink into his creations, and he adorned them with large bows, exquisite beadwork, and eye-catching jewellery. In the 1980s, he was influenced by modernist color-based artists. His appreciation of opera and the theatre also informed many of his collections.
Japanese Takeover
Beginning in the 1980s, a new generation of Japanese designers became important figures in the global fashion industry. Rei Kawakubo, a designer for Comme des Garçons, and Yohji Yamamoto debuted their designs in F alongside Issey Miyake, who is credited with establishing avant-garde fashion.
In the 1980s, Japanese fashion designers introduced a fresh form of innovation that Europe lacked. There was a little bit of a shock factor, but it's likely that Europeans are now awakening to a new value.

Leopard Print Cat Ears - Jason Todd x Reader
I’m pretty sure most people have considered dropping out of school and becoming a stripper at least once in their life, well now you get to do it. Any who here is another fic because I write at god speed and have nothing else to do due to quarantine. ps.
WARNING: Reader is a stripper so if you don’t like that then click away my friend.
The dressing room is stiflingly hot and you can almost feel your makeup melting off your face. Looking in your mirror you fix your lip liner up slightly before straightening your spotted cat ears on top of your head. You pull out your freshly styled curls from beneath the headband so they frame your face nicely. Once you are happy with your appearance you grab your fan from off your dressing table and use it to gently waft cool air into your face.
“(Y/N), your on in 20 minutes,” one of the back stage workers calls to you from the stage door and you nod at him and he turns away and leaves you and the rest of the girls to carry on getting changed. Feeling slightly faint due to the heat you get up from your chair and make your way to the back door of the dressing room intending to go out and get some fresh air. Opening the door slightly -so as not to expose the other girls to anyone who could be lurking in the ally way beside the strip-club you are currently working at – you slip out into the cool night. You feel better already as you lean on the wall of the building next to a set of dumpsters and drink in the feeling of the cool air against your bear arms and legs. You didn’t bother to pull anything on over the top of the leopard print costume you are currently in – your club had decided to put on an animal themed show tonight – because the alley way was usually deserted.
You hear a whistle come from a bit further down the alley way and you see three burley men approaching you. Standing up straight you pushed your back off the wall. You curse slightly for not throwing on a robe beforehand.
“How you doing girly?” The guy to the right yells to you, twisting his baseball cap to the slide as he does so.
You ignore his advances, turning around and heading back to the back stage door but one of the other guys who is closer to you grabs your wrist. You go from feeling uneasy to downright scared as you try to yank your hand out of his grip only to be unsuccessful.
Turning around you face him, “Would you let go of my wrist?”
“Now, now darlin’. We just want to play for a while,” the same man who has his hand wrapped around your wrist says.
“Well unluckily for you, I don’t want to so get your dirty hands off of me.” You attempt again to get away from his grip but he only tightens his hand around your wrist - so hard that you are sure that it will leave a bruise.
“Don’t be that way honey.” This time it is the man with the baseball cap talking and the sound of his voice is enough to make you shiver. The third man remains silent but still looks at you as if he is undressing your scantily clad body with his eyes.
The man moves to place his other hand on your waste and the moment it touches your skin your self-defence instincts kick into action and you knee him in the balls.
“I said get your hands the hell off,” you yell at him as he sinks down to his knees on the ground cradling his groin.
Seeing you take down his companion the man in the cap charges at you, fist aimed for your face but you dodge it and slam you high heel clad foot onto his toes. He screams as he goes down too, falling onto the guy you had kneed and successfully knocking him out.
“Try me,” you say to the last man, putting your fists up but before either of you can do anything a man clad in a leather jacket and a red mask jumps down from the roof above you and kicks him in the back, sending him sprawling to the floor, nose spewing with blood.
“That aught to hurt,” the man in the mask chuckles before turning to face you. “Are you a new vigilante or something?” He uses one hand to pinch at the cat ears perched onto of your head.
You yank your head away from him, “Watch it creep or you’ll end up like them.”
He chuckles lightly and you can almost imagine him smirking from under the helmet. “You underestimate me, doll. You wouldn’t even be able to land a hit on me”
“You want to bet?” You retract your fist, aiming for his face and he catches it with ease bending you arm behind your back and bringing you flush against his chest.
“Now answer my question,” he says before releasing you and you stumble backwards.
“No, I’m just a stripper.”
“I can’t tell if you are being serious or not.”
“Dead serious,” you reply pulling at the tail attached to your costume. “I have to go now anyway so thanks for getting rid of that guy… I guess.”
With that said you turn your back on the man in the helmet and make your way back into your back stage area.
“Oh my god, there you are!” One of the other workers, Crystal (it is her stripper name don't @ me) says. “We were thinking we would have to put Tiffany on instead of you, where the hell were you?”
“Just out back getting some air.” Crystal pulls slightly at one of her false lashes.
“We didn’t think to look there,” she says before leading you over to her dressing table to fix your hair as it is slightly messy from the fight.
“Tiffany your on,” a man calls from the stage door.
“It is fine (Y/N) is back,” Crystal calls.
“Come on then,” the man grumbles before slipping out of the door.
“All done,” Crystal says pushing the last pin into your hair.
“Thanks,” you smile gratefully before getting up and making your way out of the stuffy room. When you get out onto the stage, you feel the heat of the big lights directed onto you and if possible, it is warmer then the dressing room. Walking up to the pole in the middle of the cat walk like stage, you attach your hands to it and sway your hips a bit. As your doing this you spot a flash of red near the bar area and looking closer you can see the guy from earlier sitting at the bar watching you. Not knowing whether to feel annoyed or uncomfortable you carry on with your usually routine, swaying your body to the music and performing a few tricks on the pole until your song is over.
Once the song and applause are over you make your way off the stage and due to still being high on adrenalin from your performance you make your way over to the bar instead of back to the dressing room - knowing he can’t pull any funny business in a packed club. You get a couple of wolf whistles as you make your way over but you ignore them, sitting yourself down in the seat next the man from earlier who has now taken off the red helmet, instead opting for a domino mask so as to be able to drink his drink.
Swinging one leg over the other and leaning on the bar with one elbow you get straight to the point, “Do you make a habit of following every girl you meet in the streets?”
“Only if they are hot,” he says smirking at you and nudge him with your arm and role your eyes. “I have business here.”
You look up at him from under your lashes and flush a little in embarrassment for assuming that he was following you. Trying to shift the awkward atmosphere you order a drink to take the edge off.
“Who do you have business with?” you question, twirling a piece of your hair in your fingers.
“That’s for me to know and you to never find out,” he says with a wink and again you role your eyes leaning both elbows back onto the bar counter.
“What is with the mask?”
“What do people usually wear masks for, sweet heart”
You flush again and turn away from him slightly. Lucky for you, your drink arrives at that exact moment and saves you from having to answer. You sip on your drink casually in silence for a moment before speaking, “so you are a hero then?”
“Something like that,” the man says circling a finger round the top of his glass nonchalantly. This confession makes you feel more at ease and you relax slightly into your seat.
“So is that what you were doing back there with me and those guys, saving me?”
“I mean it didn’t look like you needed much help but I couldn’t resist the dramatic entrance.”
You laugh lightly before looking up at him. He is rather handsome, with a nice jawline and messy black hair and as he grins down at you, you feel your stomach jerk slightly in excitement.
“Red Hood?” a man dressed in a black suit addresses the man sitting besides you. “Mr Donavan has arrived.”
Red Hood smirks at you before getting up, scribbling something on a nap-kin and placing his cup on the bar behind him.
“’Till next time,” he says before sauntering off with the man in the suit leaving you behind with his number and his empty cup.

THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF ZELDA: CHAPTER 16-THE NEW GIRL
Tumblr media
CORDELIA SPELLMAN, NOW 12, FEELS UNEASY AROUND THE NEW GIRL IN HER CLASS…
Cordelia Spellman, smiled at herself in her full-length mirror, as she finished buttoning her blouse and admired her new skirt. Then she sat down at her vanity and picked up her golden chain with a single crescent moon attached. Ever since her parents had given her the necklace as a Yule gift 6 years ago, Cordelia never left the house without her necklace. Whenever she felt anxious or upset, Cordelia would hold the half-moon and pray. Guess being the daughter of a high priestess made you believe a little more. It was a long-standing family joke that if Sabrina’s black headband was her trademark then the necklace was Cordelia’s. After fastening the chain to her neck, Cordelia gathered her school books together and putting them in her backpack when she heard a bird. Turning around, she saw a dove in a tree right outside her bedroom window. A dove that Cordelia knew well.
“Hello, October.” Cordelia greeted the dove before grabbing her backpack and exiting her room. Out in the hallway, Cordelia encountered another animal. A huge brown greyhound lay across the floor, directly in Cordelia’s way. However, this was no mere dog. This was the familiar of Cordelia’s brother, Jake.
“Come on, Apollo, move! You’re in the way!” The dog did move when Cordelia scratched him behind his ear. The dog and the 12-year-old walked through the living room together. As they neared the kitchen, Apollo ran ahead, searching for food and his master. Cordelia stayed behind just long enough to put her book bag down on a hallway bench. Inside the kitchen, Cordelia found the usual suspects: her parents
“Good morning, Mom and Dad.”
Her brother was now feeding Apollo a strip of bacon, and Vinegar Tom, her mother’s dog wasn’t far behind.
“Morning, Jake.”
And her cousin, who unlike her parents and her brother, didn’t live there but worked there and often showed up early enough for breakfast.
“Hey, Ambrose.”
Plus 1 new face around the table.
“Hey, it’s the good doctor.” Cordelia hugged her big sister before sitting down next to her.
“Good morning, Cordy!” LJ smiled. “You don’t seem that surprised to see me here.”
“I’m not,” shrugged Cordelia as she dug into her oatmeal. “Perhaps that’s because I just saw a certain dove perched outside my window not 5 minutes ago.”
“Damn that October! I swear that familiar of mine spoils all my surprises! Anyway, the official reason I’m here is to drop off some medical forums for the boys but I also wanted to check up on you. Are you sure you’re ready for what you need to do today?”
Cordelia couldn’t help but smile. Not only was today the 1st day of school, but it was also Cordelia’s 1st day of 7th grade at Greendale Middle School, the very class that her father taught since she was 4.
Annoyed, Faustus came forward with his cup of coffee. “Hey, you have been teasing your sister all summer about being in my class. I wish you would stop it. I’m a good teacher and you, Cordy, don’t think I’m going to be easy on you because I’m your father.”
Cordelia shook her head. “I wouldn’t dream of it, Dad. I going to pass 7th grade with hard work and good grades, the same way I’ll become a top student when I attend the academy.”
Zelda smiled at her daughter. “Now, that’s the right attitude.”
“Butt kisser.” Jake teased his sister good-naturedly.
10 minutes later, everyone left the kitchen. Ambrose and Jake went to work in other parts of the house, while everyone else was heading out the door. Zelda, to morning assembly at the academy, LJ was heading to the hospital to start her rounds and Faustus started the engine to his white VW bug as Cordelia climbed in beside him.
“So, did you and Mom have the talk today?” she asked her father.
“What talk?” Faustus asked his daughter.
Cordelia shrugged. “The talk, the talk you and Mom have at the start of every school year.  The one where Mom asks you to come to teach at the academy and every year, you turn down Mom’s offer.”
“You know about that?”
Cordelia rolled her eyes. “Everyone in the family knows. What I don’t get is why you keep turning her down. When I was little, you told me that Ambrose is the most powerful warlock in the family but I’ve known for a long time that it’s you. Plus, I heard Uncle C and Aunt Hilda talking about how you used to work there and- “
“Cordy, I don’t feel comfortable talking about this.” Faustus cut in.  “Yes, I used to work at the academy, but that was a long time ago, before the curse.”
“Of course!” His daughter spat. “Whenever I try to bring up anything about your past, all you ever say is it happened before the curse. Never mind that you always say you’ll tell me about this curse someday, but you never have. Dad, I’m 12 now, whatever this curse is, I can handle it.”
Faustus sighed as he pulled into the school parking lot. He couldn’t blame Cordelia for her anger toward him. She was right, of course, he brought up the ‘before the curse’ line a lot but what the child didn’t know was that he tried twice as much to tell his daughter what the curse actually was. Yet, he just couldn’t do it. Even when Zelda was right there beside him to support and help him to explain it all. But 1 look in Cordy’s innocent, trusting eyes, and Faustus chickened out every time. You’re weak, boy, you’ve always been weak. His father’s words were never far in Faustus’s mind. No words could be enough to express how thankful and grateful he was to the Spellmans for their unending understanding and support of him for the last 13 years. However, no matter how loved, safe, and secure his family would make him feel, something always happened, a memory, a nightmare, (last week’s was a real doozy) to trigger his never-ending guilt yet again. That’s why he declined Zelda’s yearly offer to return to teaching at the academy.  It was no longer a school to him, just a scene of his crimes. He felt the same way about the church, though he found it easier to avoid the school. When he did go to mass, he sat in the very last pew, even if as the spouse of the high priestess, it was his right to sit upfront with the rest of his family. He liked to get in and out, to see as less of the coven as possible. Even if the coven and the family’s forgiveness had lasted for 13 years, Faustus still lived his life as if that forgiveness could be revoked at any moment. This is why he couldn’t tell the youngest Spellman that it was only because of her mother that he wasn’t trapped forever inside a wicked, murdering husk. Sometimes it felt like Cordelia was the only 1 left in the world who didn’t know of his crimes and, selfish or not, he liked it that way.
“No, your mother and I didn’t have ‘that talk’ today, we had it yesterday.” There, it was all Faustus was willing to say on the subject. Faustus parked the car and pointed. “There are your friends.”
Thankfully, the sight of her best friends, blond triplets Emily, Erin, and Erica Warner, was enough to distract Cordelia from their current conversation.
“Thanks, Dad,” Cordelia pecked her father’s cheek, left the car, and made a beeline for her friends. “Hi, guys!”
“Hey, Cordy,” Said Emily.
“Hi, Cordelia” Replied Erica.
Erin just waved.
Cordelia frowned. “What’s wrong with you 3? You all look like you didn’t sleep a wink all night long.”
“We didn’t,” mumbled Erin.
“How could we when Mom and Dad had another all-night screaming match.” Emily agreed with her sister.
“Again?!” Cordelia frowned, the triplets confided in her that their parents were having marriage problems for quite some time.
“Hey there, girls!” came a voice from behind.
“Sara!”  All 3 Warner girls cried and turned to embrace the girl coming towards them.
Cordelia wasn’t sure what disturbed her more.  The fact that she had never seen this new girl a day in her life or that she got a warmer welcome from her besties than she did. However, Cordelia easily dismissed the thought when Erin turned back to her.
“Cord, this is Sara Reed. She just moved 3 doors down from us about 2 weeks ago. Sara, this is Cordelia Spellman, she’s been our best friend since, like, ever.”
“So, I’m finally meeting the famous Cordelia Spellman.”
“Well, I don’t know about famous,” Cordelia smiled.
The bell rang so the girls headed inside the school.
“Are you kidding?” Sara told Cordelia, “the triplets talk about you all the time. To hear them tell it, your family owns the town.”
“Hardy,” Cordelia giggled. “Truthfully, they only own 2 businesses, but they are all over town. Let’s see, my uncle owns Dr. Cerberus’s books and spirits and he runs it with my aunt Hilda.  She herself co-owns the Spellman Sisters mortuary with my mother but Mom teaches high school with my oldest sister, Prudence. So the mortuary’s day to day business is run by Ambrose, my cousin, and my brother Jake. Not too far from Uncle C’s shop, is the new office of my other cousin, Sabrina, who’s a therapist. LJ, my other sister, is a doctor.”
“What about your father?” Sara asked.
“Oh, Dad’s right here,” Cordelia answered. “Dad has been teaching 7th grade at this school since I was 4.”
“Which means that Mr. Spellman is our teacher this year.” Erin pointed out.
This made Sara confused. “Wait, I thought you guys were going into 8th grade?”
Emily shook her head. “Nope,7th.”
“I’m going into 8th.” Sara declared.
“I thought she was 12, like us,” Cordelia whispered to Erica.
“She is, but Sara is so cool, I’m not surprised she skipped a grade.”
“Oh yeah,” Cordelia smiled. “What makes her so cool?”
“She’s a Wiccan.”
Her friends didn’t notice when Cordelia froze and her smile disappeared.
Nina Robinson was the school’s new 8th-grade teacher and she was not at all happy to be there. Some teachers’ passion was children, but Nina’s true passion was men. That was got her in her current troubles. If her boyfriend-correction, ex-boyfriend, had simply told his wife about them, he probably could have avoided a political scandal.  Yet here Nina was, in a backward hic town instead of her beloved New York.
How am I going to find Mr. tall, dark and handsome here in the middle of Nowhere, USA? Nina thought to herself just before Mr. tall, dark, and handsome walked by.
Luckily, Nina was standing right next to Theo Putnam, the vice-principal of the school.  “Um, Mr. Putnam? Who is that?” Nina asked, pointing.
“Oh, that’s Faustus Spellman, he’s been teaching 7th grade here for 8 years. His niece, Sabrina, is a childhood friend of mine.”
Nina could care less about childhood friends as she checked out this Faustus guy and she liked what she saw. Most women would back off when they saw Faustus’s wedding ring, but not Nina. She liked a challenge.
“So, how are you today, Mr. Wilson?” LJ smiled at her favorite patient.
“Much better now that you’re here.”  Mr. Wilson took LJ’s hand and kissed it.
“Well, I’m certainly glad that those 3 surgeries didn’t rob you of your charm.”
LJ turned as the door opened and there was a man LJ didn’t know. “Excuse me, Mr. Wilson? I was sent here to check your I.V. and do some bloodwood.”
“Well, do it, then. Can’t you see I’m trying to flirt here?”
LJ chuckled as she moved to allow the stranger room to work. LJ also check the chart at the end of Mr. Wilson’s bed. “Everything looks good here. I’ll check back on you this afternoon.”
LJ and the man left the hospital room together. “I’m sorry, but have we met?” LJ asked the man out in the hallway. “It’s just that I’ve worked here for the last 5 years and I can’t place you.”
The man smiled. “Nor should you. I’m part of a group of interns that just transferred here from Moon Valley.”
“Oh, okay. Well, welcome to Greendale Memorial Hospital. How are you liking it so far?”
“I like it very much. I mean, the people are great. There’s only 1 thing I’m nervous about.  My pals keep telling me how tough our supervisor is. I haven’t met him yet; some guys say that our new supervisor is some hard ass resident named Dr. Spellman. Oh, where are my manners?” I’m Peter, Peter Watson.”
“LJ. LJ Spellman.”
Peter stopped walking. “You’re kidding, right.”
LJ kept smiling as she shook her head. “Afraid not.”
“Look, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
“After I get my foot out of my big mouth, how about I apologize properly by buying you a drink after work?”
LJ’s smile got bigger. “I would like that.”
Over the years, some found it odd, that everyone at Greendale middle school, both staff and students alike, all had their lunch break at noon sharp. Yet today, it was a blessing. For at 10 after 12, a fire broke out in the southeast end of the school. Far away from the cafeteria and the teacher’s lounge. By 12:30, all the fire alarms were screaming at full force and the firetrucks were arriving just as the yard was filling with people. By 1 pm, the principal and vice-principal were busy calling parents to tell them not only about the fire but also the happy news that no one was hurt. To give the school a chance to air out all that extra smoke, afternoon classes were held outside, made possible by the nice weather. Although the flames were brief, it did ruin 2 rooms. The library and the 8th-grade classroom were burnt and would be unusable for months. By 3, it was safe to come back inside. By 3:30, the school was over and Cordelia was putting some books in her locker before heading into the girls’ bathroom. Cordelia pushed open the door and froze. There, among a dozen lit candles, were her 3 best friends and the new girl, Sara, all hovering over an Ouija board.

I recently found out that I'm a lesbian (I realized I don't like men at ALL) and I'm femme, but sometimes it bothers me that people might not know I'm a lesbian. Is there any way I can still be femme but dress in a way that Fellow Gays would be able to recognize me? (I realize that stereotypes don't matter- I'm just asking in case there's any advice you can give. If there's anything ignorant I said, please let me know, because I'm still pretty fresh to this. :) )
this is a thing! it’s called flagging, its dressing in a particular way in an attempt to signal to other wlw that you like women!
i can super relate, people never even entertain the idea that i might not be straight, and it can be hard to meet other women when you dont even come up on their radar
before i get any further, i should give a quick disclaimer: there is no one way to “look gay,” and you dont have to conform to any sort of fashion standard to be a part of the lesbian community. if you’re a lesbian, then congrats! you look like a lesbian! but sometimes other people don’t say it that way, which can be disappointing. so i get it. i’ve been there.
there is a lot of stuff online for flagging, but some basic things that a lot of women do to signal that they are into other women are very femme-friendly, although there are certainly ways to “look gayer” that might not suit your style
I have a “how to look gay” tag but knowing tumblr, i cant imagine any of my posts on it would come up with a search, so here are my hot tips!
some common (but sometimes used by straight girls) things would be:
a flannel, i prefer mens because they are softer and warmer, but tying it around your waist can be a nice femme touch, although i will layer with flannels too.
you can double-denim/canadian suit it up. one way i like to do this is with like a black denim pant and a loose denim shirt or jacket over the top of a t-shirt. if double denim is too tacky for you, splitting it up into two separate-looking denims can help. but theres nothing wrong with a tacky denim get up!
things like undercuts or sidecuts, with one section of your hair buzzed short. may not be your style, but definitely gets the message across if youre into it
asymmetrical piercings. i have a double cartilage in my left ear but nothing special on my right. i hear industrial bars are a big thing, too. nose rings can be pretty hit or miss, i tend to believe they are gayer than other people do imo. but i have a nose stud so... i guess i cant really talk
in the same vein, tattoos. this one is also pretty hit or miss, because there are PLENTY of straight people who like tattoos (tats are cool, who can blame them) but i always think twice when i see a girl with a sleeve or a shoulder tat.
less conventional makeup. it doesnt even have to be too out there, but maybe like, you just dont wear foundation, or only do lipstick, or go really bold with your brows. my first term at college i saw a girl with really bold brows, a couple face piercings, and a flannel, and i just. Knew she was into women
boots. they dont have to be combat boots. but combat boots are pretty gay. people usually say wlw dont wear heels, but i know some who do.
accessories. this is a big one. i know a lot of lgbt people who are big on the rainbows, like rainbow bracelets, earrings, headbands, belts, pins, buttons, etc. generally i feel a little too loud with big rainbows all over my body, but there are other options! i like the interlocking venus symbols as a lesbian symbol, as its a bit more subtle but also relatively recognizable. i have two interlocking venus symbol necklaces, and a hat with a little rainbow on it. some lesbians like the labrys from the labrys flag, but it doesnt really seem as recognizably gay to me
theres definitely a quirky kooky femme fashion niche that i (sadly) cant say im a part of, but a bunch of femmes like to dress kind of tacky. there’s a big joke about “tacky lesbian fashion” because lesbians can be known to wear some interesting combos, like crocs with a skirt, etc, but this can be dressed up, too. louder prints that might not be too appealing to the average straight man OR woman can be a subtle way to give off vibes
hats. the classic beanie. even in the year of our lord 2019, i know nary a straight girl who would dare don a beanie. its just so classically lesbian. but you can opt for a baseball cap or bandana, too. backwards hats? very gay. my belief is that this stems from the classic lesbian pastime, softball.
dyed hair. usually unconventional colors. this one can go both ways, too. pastels tend to be “less gay” but that doesnt mean there arent lesbians out there rocking some pastel pink hair. streaks or an ombre of a bright or non-natural hair color give off vibes. the ends of my hair have been purple on an off since i was a freshman in high school.
the way you carry yourself. this one isnt a way of dressing, yeah, but it can be just as effective. my gaydar tends to go more off behavior/body language than appearance. it obviously isnt 100% (none of flagging ever is) and takes some practice, but I’ve generally been pretty good at figuring out if someone is gay from interacting with them. it isnt instant, takes practice, and can easily be wrong, but its usually my method of choice. unfortunately, this method almost NEVER gets the point across the straight people, who tend to think if you have long hair then there’s no WAY you could be a lesbian. body language to look out for: not sitting in chairs properly (a meme that reflects reality) like “manspreading” but as a woman, generally more confidence/self-assuredness, focusing more on women, being less “meek” and more “aggressive” with taking up space, accommodating for women’s comfort but not for mens, disregard of the male gaze, that sort of thing.
lastly, all of these things are just suggestions of how to “look gayer” based off stereotypes, some of which were played up by the lesbian community in an attempt to find each other. you dont have to change how you dress, act, look, or anything else to be a real lesbian or to “look” like a lesbian, because there is no one “thing” that lesbians look like. some of us dress to stereotypes, and some of us dont, but we are all lesbians at the end of the day, dressing and looking the way you feel most comfortable should be the goal. if that includes some things on this list, great! if not, thats fine too! you don’t have to do everything. just the stuff you feel good about

I just have anger issues
Many people don't know where it comes from but sometimes I do get feed back through my distributors.
