The Kehlsteinhaus (known in English as the Eagle's Nest) is a Nazi-constructed building erected atop the summit of the Kehlstein, a rocky outcrop that rises above Obersalzberg near the southeast German town of Berchtesgaden. Eagles! One of my favorite photos ever! . I spent 6 hours sitting in a cliff watching this eagle family. I have so many photos to share, but thought I'd start with this one that popped out to me. I have lots of the mom feeding the eaglet, too. Lots have this really loving tender feeling because she carefully put each bite in the eaglets beak. . It's amazing how fast they grow! . I'm kind of teasing the photos for two reasons: 1) I cropped this one for IG so you can see more of the detail, but I really prefer the higher resolution uncropped ones that wouldn't be any good for Instagram. So I put the whole gallery on my website already and really hope people will go there to see them. . It's DavidFromEarth.SmugMug.com . 2) I am thinking about trying to publish these and in some cases I think publishers prefer exclusives. Does anyone have any ideas where I might pitch these photos and a story to go along with them? . I have an idea for sort of a satirical story about the father eagle being kind of a deadbeat. In all the time I watch the mom and eaglet, I rarely see the father. On this day I saw him show up with a branch for the nest, which the mother did not seem satisfied with, she started screaming and I'm pretty sure pecked him on the head. He flew off and came back later with some pine needles and they seemed to get along for a while and then she seemed to have booted him out again. It's anthropomorphizing behavior I don't actually understand, but I thought it'd make a fun story, but I don't know if any nature publication that uses humor and I'm not sure the photos or observation are quite special enough to get published without some angle. . We stayed at a campsite near the Wye Valley on the edge of Symonds Yet river. On one of the days we explored a lookout point called Eagle's Nest. We visited Tintern Abbey on the way before following the A466 to a small car park under some trees. We followed a board with a map on all the way to the look out point.
