michael townsend and why i lowkey dont fw him

minor (?) spoilers ahead and don't worry i don't hate him nor do i dislike him

i know him and dean have their issues because of dean's backstory and michael's own one too, but dean was always way nicer to michael (at least in front of cassie) than michael ever was to dean. truth or dare in the first book: the bad seed comment?? and whatever, i get it, their relationship is complex as hell, but i still dont fw this / also just to bring in lia and HER personality, i fw her more because she's actually direct with her jabs. michael's jabs are the kind where if you tried to confront him about it he would be like what are you talking about i never said anything wrong! (and i take this personally)

him and lia. i like their toxicity (SUE ME WE HAVE THREE OTHER HEALTHY SHIPS LET ME LIVE) but he did NOT treat her well. when cassie first came to the programme, and mind you, even lia pointed this out, michael immediately pushed lia aside and started flirting with cassie AS IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN RELATIONSHIP AT ALL. (i quote "did you pursue her, the way you got all moon-eyed over cassie when she first showed up?") and then the moment cassie picks dean instead of him, he goes back to lia?? FUCK YOU MEAANNNNNNN and dont get me started on the "in five seconds i'm going to tell you that i love you" (i get it, he wanted her out of the room, but still) and "longer and better than i've loved you" scene (he had way nicer ways to say this) / and can i just say this girl is too damn forgiving wdym he pushed you aside and came running back after he got rejected and you STILL TOOK HIM BACK OH MY LORRRDDDDD but whatever i support your choices girlypops

OK WAIT I KNOW I ENDED THE HIM AND LIA POINT BUT truth or dare in the first book: he asked her in front of ALL the naturals INCLUDING THE NEW GIRL(akacassie) something he KNEW was personal to her and didn't want to reveal. "what's your real name?" and it makes me mad because i know lia got him back-ish with the dean and cassie kiss dare and then dean and cassie's back and forth truth or dare (that they did on their own accord) but that was NOWHERE near as bad as what he asked lia oh my GAWWDD

to his credit, his redeeming factor is his relationship with sloane and celine. it's clear he cares about them a lot and he's NEVER lashed out or glared at sloane even when he was about ready to murder someone for something. and he obviously cares about celine like he was ready to risk all his friendships with the naturals just so he could find out what happened to her (e.g. if his father was screwing her which is weird in hindsight but anyways) and when he thought she was murdered by the masters (like fr this time) he was so worried and needed everyone's reassurance even though he usually deals with everything alone. so yeah i don't hate him he has his perks for sure but he is my least favourite natural unfortunately (I LIKE HIM THOUGH DONT TWIST MY WORDS)
