Or, she had wanted to believe him when he had told her that bullshit about not knowing each other— she had tasted the lies ushering forth from betwixt his lips like a serpent juts its forked tongue into the air to collect information with its tines, sensing its own unerring truth. Physical wounds were not the only type of impact to leave irrevocable damage, significantly if they cut deep enough. Nausicaa didn’t have all the information acquired, leaving her bereft for a time when she might have felt safe.

All she knew was that from the moment she had touched her hand to his by accident, the electrical jolt phased to segment through her body could not be disregarded. She felt him everywhere— the physical heat of his hand that thrummed along her skin. The wildfire feeling coursed through her veins and traveled along her entire form, demanding to connect with him further. Her entire lifeline opened before her, which contained forks in the paved highway that showed her how many times they had been taken from one another. And he had kept it all from her— and by what end? Why had he done this— playing this out and seeing it through to the end?

She could detect his lies like a coating, and now she wore them like Atlas wore the world's weight. It made her hurt all over as she yanked away from him. So, this was what it felt like to be electrocuted. She had found the wellspring of his mind, which had opened an entire line of telepathic wavelength to him; she realized she was privy to his thoughts, just as much as he could home into hers. She no longer felt safe— no longer able to have a single thought to herself. The sense that this was something they shared entirely threw her off, and she didn't even know how to rectify the situation.

She felt like she was falling— away from herself and everything she’d ever known.
