it's so wild to me how these old school medical shows have people being so insensitive to autistic people every time they feature one despite one to at least half of the main cast being so clearly fucking autistic

i thought they were going to scoot around this briefly in the episode of house i just watched bc they had wilson telling cuddy that house has "asperger's" (this is from when that was commonly used) and therefore needed his blood-stained rug back or whatever, but then in the next scene they had wilson telling house that it was bullshit and that house is just an asshole

which. yeah. house is an asshole. but he's also SOOOO AUTISM CODED and literally every single super genius or overly dedicated/obsessive doctor in any of these shows always is. but house especially is like. the epitome of men w autism (derogatory but his autistic traits are the least annoying part about him)

the grey's anatomy thanksgiving episode in season 2 always makes me mourn the fact that we will never get a george-conquering-comphet arc... it would make so much sense. he doesn't fit in amongst his extremely hetero family. but how good would it have been at this time to have an arc where this catholic family fully accepted their gay son

i've said it before and i'll surely say it again but a storyline where he and callie both realize they're gay while married and have an amicable divorce where the o'malleys accept them and still think of callie as one of them would have been so heartwarming to contrast the way her family reacted 😭😭

the only person in the entire show that derek has chemistry with is mark istg, there's no spark between him and any of the women they throw at him

i can't imagine finding out my best friend got pregnant by her boss and a) making it about me and my feelings or b) asking about HIM rather than asking if she needs anything??? girl... get your shit together

sometimes the way they write her doesn't make any sense. like, i get it, she's a hettie and the og pick me girl. okay. fine. but it feels like sometimes they don't have her take hard stances on things bc they're afraid that if the titular character does, everyone will hate the characters that she disagrees w or something and it's really frustrating

like are you telling me that meredith would be friendly with owen after he interrupts her child's birthday party screaming at her BEST FRIEND and shaming her for getting an abortion? NO WAY.

i would literally. saw off my own toe to magically rewrite the show and have them get together and ditch owen. LITERALLY. but even more than that. teddy actually respects cristina and is only trying to change her to make her a better surgeon and a better person while burke's motives were "make perfect wife who will later give this all up to pop out my babies :)"
