HUM HI SORRY Iā€™M LATE!!
My prompt was: Ā«Ā Two characters compete to see who will place the Christmas star first, while the rest of the characters are cheering them.Ā Ā» I used a screen I took from the game as a base!
Thanks again to Dicktat for the event and I hope yā€™all had a great Christmas or great holidays!!
Again sorry Iā€™m late but take into consideration I literally havenā€™t drawn in probably a year. Iā€™m struggling with very bad stuff but this challenge gave me the opportunity to draw outside of my comfort zone and I really enjoyed the whole process, Iā€™ll try to get more involved in the fandom and interact with you guys more <3
Also this is my first time drawing any of the characters so sorry if I messed up any of themā€”

Summary:
Maybe Sophie could be her daughter, too. No one could ever replace Jolie and Edaline would never replace Jolie but the house no longer feels like a hollow echoing shell of life with Sophie around. It feels infectious- Edaline feels scared to care for another daughter, feels scared to latch onto Sophie just to eventually lose her. But maybe, maybe- it can be Grady-Edaline-Jolie-and-Sophie. or: Edaline's journey in learning how to deal with grief and love another daughter
ao3
The moment they come back from Jolieā€™s planting, Edaline stumbles into her (dead) daughterā€™s room and collapses. Gradyā€™s footsteps follow her, heavy and echoing on the stairs of their (too empty, too quiet, too cold) home.Ā
Jolieā€™s bed is soft, covers arranged the way theyā€™d been while waiting for her to come back from the Elite Towers. Her room is frozen in time, a paused photograph of what itā€™d been before.Ā
Vertina flickers to life briefly, like every other time sheā€™s heard footsteps in Jolieā€™s room (like the lens of a camera, blinking the memory of time passed away), and meets Edalineā€™s eyes with her own (hollow) ones and clicks away again. Edaline wonders if she craves the way Jolieā€™s presence filled the room too. She wonders if Vertina realises this room is an empty shell of what it used to be- a museum of lost things and memories, preserved in grief and disbelief.Ā
Edaline forgets, sometimes. It's a force of habit to wake up blurry with sleep and knock on Jolie's door to wake her up- no one answers, of course, the room's been empty for a long time and will be for an even longer time, but the muscle memory is ingrained in Edaline's very being. It's hard to remember that your daughter is a tree in a forest (graveyard) when all of you were supposed to be immortal.Ā
Itā€™s hard to remember that there will never be mornings spent waking Jolie up again.
It really dawns on her then- sitting in Jolie's room in the ringing silence, wearing green for the first time in her life- that Jolie's gone. Jolie, light of her life, her pride, her joy- is gone.Ā
And the loneliness of it all meanders in Jolie's room, heavy and stifling, and weighs down on Edalineā€™s chest. This thing- this bundle of grief and despair and emotion- presses down on her lungs and clogs her throat and steals the breath from her lungs, leaving her choking on tears and heaving for air. Jolieā€™s room spins, Edalineā€™s sobs echoing around the room, in her head, and itā€™s all-
ā€œEdaline,ā€ the love of her life says, familiar (warm) hand on her back, ā€œEda, are you with me?ā€
And she tries to be right here and right now, tries to breathe in and breathe out, relax into the familiar (alive, alive) warmth around her, but itā€™s just-
ā€œI miss her,ā€ she croaks out, voice hoarse and throat hurting.
Grady brushes away the drying tears on her cheeks and presses a kiss to her forehead (warm, alive, forever). He whispers, ā€œMe too,ā€ and Edaline thinks she has never heard him this tired.Ā
Jolie dying tore Edalineā€™s heart apart, left it shattered and scattered across the floor of Jolieā€™s room, sharp as glass and bleeding sorrow. Edaline wonders briefly how they ever couldā€™ve lived without her, tries to remember and draws a blank when she tries to recall what Jolieā€™s room was before it became Jolieā€™s room. Jolie- Jolie was their whole life even if sheā€™d only been in their lives for less than a century, and their heart their home was so full of Jolie Edaline couldnā€™t imagine it any other way.
But Jolieā€™s room is cold, her blankets freezing to the touch when Edaline grasps them desperately, and she has never felt this lonely her entire life-
And then Grady gently pries the blankets from her grip and holds her hands, gently. He says, ā€œWe can miss her together,ā€ soft as when Jolie used to jump into their bed and curl up between them after having a nightmare. Edaline hears how Gradyā€™s voice strains, ever so slightly, and almost shakes.Ā
And- oh. Jolieā€™s empty room is cold, but Grady is warm and theyā€™re in this together. Jolie was their daughter and this is their grief to share. Edaline misses Jolie so much her grief nearly drowns her, but so does Grady. Grady will cry with Edaline and grieve their daughter together and watch their daughterā€™s Wanderling grow like they watched Jolie grow up together, and they will endure this crushing grief together.Ā
Edaline cries, their grief spilling from their joined hands and pressing close, one heartbeat missing. Two lonely people; two desolate heartbeats.
So when Lord and Lady Ruewen disappear from society for the better part of a century, Edaline and Grady grieve their daughter alone together.
-
Edaline finds Jolie thumbing at a butterfly chain, quiet, more solemn than Edalineā€™s ever seen her.Ā
Canā€™t be easy, Edaline concludes, to study in the Elite Levels while having a Talentless fiance. Sheā€™s- proud of Jolie, definitely, for being willing to go so far for love, but itā€™s hard not to get worried when you hear more than enough snide comments about your daughterā€™s unconventional engagement. So here Edaline is.Ā
ā€œJolie,ā€ Edaline says softly.Ā
Jolieā€™s head snaps up, on guard and expression weary. She smiles weakly when she sees Edaline, and Edalineā€™s heart hurts with how strained her daughterā€™s smile is. ā€œMother,ā€ Jolie replies, voice hoarse.Ā
Thereā€™s more to this, Edaline guesses, that caused the hitch in Jolieā€™s voice and worry lines in her forehead. More than just faint frowns from across the street or mean comments. Edaline doesnā€™t know what, though, and she knows Jolieā€™s grown up and has her own life, but she canā€™t help but worry. Sheā€™s Jolieā€™s mother- worrying is in the job description. She puts her hand over Jolieā€™s, and asks whatā€™s wrong.
Jolie doesnā€™t reply for a while. They sit there in silence, Jolieā€™s thumb brushing over the fake-butterfly wing.Ā
Vertina clicks in to check on them after a while, and just sits down, noiselessly, when she sees Jolieā€™s expression. Edaline wonders if Vertina knows whatā€™s on Jolieā€™s mind. She wouldnā€™t be surprised- theyā€™ve always been close, almost as close as Jolie and Brant- but it still hurts a little if Jolie wouldnā€™t talk to her own mother.Ā
ā€œWhat would you do,ā€ Jolie starts. Hesitates. Looks at Edaline for half a second, and turns back to the butterfly chain lightning fast. Shuts her mouth, pressing her lips together until theyā€™re pale with pressure.
(As if Jolie were afraid, Edaline thinks. Edaline wants to wrap her arms around Jolie the way she did when Jolie was young and met Verdi for the first time. Wants to tell Jolie that itā€™s okay, she just looks scary again. Edaline realises, faintly, that she canā€™t say that with the confidence that itā€™s the truth anymore.)
Edaline breathes. In, out. In, out- and Jolie follows, instinctively- in, out. They breathe together, butterfly chain fluttering in Jolieā€™s hands.
Edaline breathes, and she waits until Jolie starts again. ā€œI think,ā€ Jolie whispers. ā€œI think itā€™s time to walk away.ā€
Jolie says this like a confession, like sheā€™s letting Edaline in on a world-changing secret. Jolie treats this like sheā€™s letting her heart slip with every breath and sink into the ground-
Edaline doesnā€™t get it. Her mind spins with hypotheticals- is Jolie not doing well at the Elite Levels and wants to drop out? Did something happen with her and Brant? Itā€™s- itā€™s something with all the people pressing her about the bad match, isnā€™t it? For the first time in Jolieā€™s life, Edaline finds herself at a loss for what to say to her.Ā
Vertina watches them quietly from the corner. Jolie flicks her eyes up and meets Vertinaā€™s unmoving gaze. Flicks her gaze to Edaline, furrowing her brows. Goes back to staring at the butterfly chain like itā€™s something alien.
Edaline takes the chain from her. ā€œI raised you, Jolie.ā€ she starts carefully, straightening the wings of the chain, ā€œand you- youā€™d never forgive yourself if you gave up just because somethingā€™s difficult.ā€ She takes Jolieā€™s shaking hands, gentle, ā€œNever let fear drive you. Jolie, if anything- you will regret it if you let fear stop you.ā€
Jolie stays silent for a long time.Ā
Thereā€™s something on Jolieā€™s mind that Edaline canā€™t quite reach- something just beyond her fingertips, understanding barely half a breath away- but Edalineā€™s missing pieces of the puzzle that Jolie isnā€™t giving her, so the unfinished puzzle stays scattered over the floor, leaving Edaline to make sense of whatever meagre pieces she does have.
Then, abruptly, Jolie turns and wraps her arms around Edaline, burying her face in Edalineā€™s chest. Edaline stills for a moment, surprised and mind spinning to figure out what brought this on, but instinctively hugs Jolie back, motherly instinct overriding her worry (fear, spiking just for a moment in Edalineā€™s heart). Jolieā€™s fingertips dig into Edalineā€™s back, in the way that almost feels determined, but Jolie is Edalineā€™s daughter, and Edaline knows when her daughter is playing brave to try to overwhelm her fears.Ā
Itā€™s almost like Jolie is small and afraid of the dark again. Only now- now Jolie is twenty and has things to fear beyond shadows on the wall, and Edaline doesnā€™t know half of it. Edaline remembers the way Jolie used to describe every monster and enemy in her nightmares, tripping over words and tears in the middle of the night.Ā
Jolie doesnā€™t do that anymore- doesnā€™t tell Edaline and Grady about the monsters and the nightmares anymore. Edaline knows itā€™s just part of growing up, part of growing independent from your parents, but-Ā
Edaline feels like sheā€™s said something wrong, impending disaster catalysed by her unknowing words. Fear of the unknown, Edaline thinks dimly, is ingrained so deeply in the bones of even the immortal. And here, Jolie buried in her arms and clinging tightly to Edaline, Edaline would never let go if it meant that sheā€™d have the reassurance that Jolie would always be safe, always be her daughter her baby daughter. Feels a fraction of the fear that thrums through every beat of Jolieā€™s heart and echoes in Edalineā€™s. Feels the looming unknown bearing down on them.
But thereā€™s nothing to do except hold her daughter in her arms and hope itā€™s enough. Basks in the comfort of right-here-and-now and commands the prickling uneasiness (motherā€™s intuition?) silence.
ā€œThanks, Mom,ā€ Jolie says, muffled. Vertina sighs, silent.Ā
-
That night, a firestorm claims a life, a love, and a mind. Any hope of a future is burnt to ashes.
-
It wasnā€™t enough to save Jolie.
-
Decades later, Jolie's ghost- Sophie, Edaline chides herself, Sophie Foster- arrives at their door.Ā  Sophie looks confused, and shrinks into herself, and looks so much like Jolie it hurts. But Edaline just smiles at her, teaches her to take care of the animals and the imp that they saved.Ā
It scares Edaline how much it is just repeating motions, putting time on loop, flickering between this century and the last (between Sophie and Jolie, a stranger and her daughter, her daughter long-passed and revived in the shell of a lookalike.) Edaline goes out and buys dresses (purple, lavender drifting from photos buried twice over in dust) and itā€™s muscle memory to stride into Jolieā€™s favourite stores. Edaline goes with Grady to get Sophieā€™s Foxfire uniform and is thrown a century back in time, pictures Jolieā€™s proud smile on Sophieā€™s face, and has to light leap back home fumbling with her home crystal, burrowing into Jolieā€™s room.Ā
The first time Sophie puts on her Foxfire uniform, Ruewen family crest over her heart, Edaline nearly cries.
Ā Jolie was so proud wearing her uniform for the first time- smiling with two teeth missing, puffing up her chest, swearing that she was all grown up now. Jolie pricked her finger on the pin of her family crest, swatting away Edalineā€™s hand insisting that she could do it, she wasnā€™t a baby anymore. Edaline had laughed, held her hands up in mock-surrender and let Jolie pin the crest to her cape herself. It was askew, off-centre and tilted- the same Sophieā€™s is right now.Ā
Before Edaline thinks too much about it, she reaches out and fixes Sophieā€™s pin, brushing over her uniform and smoothing out creases in her shirt.Ā
(Jolie stopped letting Edaline fuss over her, pulled away and frowned whenever Edaline reached out. The last time Jolie let Edaline hold her was the first in- too long, anyway. All the lost years of Jolie refusing to let Edaline comb her hair, fuss over her clothes and hug her goodbye dropped into a chasm, all the could-have-been memories plummeting down, null and void after Jolie-)
Sophie stands still while Edaline fidgets with the family crest, clearly restless but holding still yet. When Edaline starts to pull away, Sophie furrows her brows. Edaline is starting to learn that it means, Iā€™m thinking really hard and Iā€™m not going to tell Edaline what Iā€™m thinking even though it is bothering me. Edalineā€™s hand lingers on Sophieā€™s shoulder.Ā
Sophie takes a deep breath (Jolie, following Edalineā€™s breaths-) and says, ā€œMy mom used to do this for me.ā€ Sophie doesnā€™t look at Edaline, head angled away from Edalineā€™s hand and leaning into her touch all at once. Her hands clench, unclench like a heartbeat, anxious and alive.Ā
Edaline spares one last moment taking care of someone who is not her daughter (someone she is starting to care about, Edaline realises, someone so alike Jolie but so different that he might just be her daughter). Her hand lingers on Sophie's shoulder, stilled at the thought of- maybes and what-ifs and but-then.Ā
(Maybe Sophie could be her daughter, too. What if it doesnā€™t just have to be Jolie, dead and long-gone, and Jolieā€™s ghost? No one could ever replace Jolie and Edaline would never replace Jolie but the house no longer feels like a hollow echoing shell of life with Sophie around. Their footsteps feel half as heavy and the storm-cloud of grief half as dark with Sophie in all her anxiousness and hopefulness.Ā
It feels infectious- Edaline feels scared to care for another daughter, feels scared to latch onto Sophie just to eventually lose her. But maybe, maybe- it can be Grady-Edaline-Jolie-and-Sophie.)
Dex calls for Sophie from the doorway, and Edaline shakes herself awake. Edaline folds her hands over her skirt, giving Sophie a strained smile. Sophieā€™s eyes flick over the room, everywhere other than Edaline, shoulders slightly hunched over, tense again now that Edaline no longer has her hand on Sophieā€™s shoulder.Ā
Edaline doesnā€™t say anything, and Sophie remains closed off. It doesnā€™t sit right with Edaline, but really thereā€™s no one to blame but herself for the distance.Ā
(Edaline would rather try and care about Sophie, but Edaline still wakes up some mornings and sees Jolie instead of Sophie, and sometimes she gasps awake from nightmares of holding another planting and Sophieā€™s Wanderling next to Jolieā€™s. The thought of loving again just to lose once more is enough to tear Edaline away more than once Sophie tries to bridge the distance.)
(She grows to love Sophie anyway. It hurts.)
-
Edaline cries when she and Grady go to cancel Sophieā€™s adoption process. It feels like losing another daughter even though Sophie is still alive and clueless and living in their home.Ā
When they get home and face Sophie, Edaline doesnā€™t know whether to isolate herself from Sophie or make the most of their remaining time together, but an accident with Iggy and the confirmation scroll makes the decision for her.Ā
Sophie tells them sheā€™s not their daughter and storms to school the morning after. The pressure around Edalineā€™s lungs builds, forces out too-quick breaths and tears. She rushes for Jolieā€™s room, surrounding herself with pillows and covers kept pristine even now. Her vision clouds with lavender, and all she can think about is Jolie and Sophie, her daughter and her no-longer daughter, memory and what couldā€™ve been.Ā
She wants- she wants to have Jolie, her daughter, back. She wants to let herself care about Sophie and fuss over her uniform and teach her elvin recipes and introduce to Prattles and custard bursts and everything that Jolie loved and Sophie would too. She doesnā€™t think she can look at Sophie and not be reminded of Jolie, frozen in time and lost to nature.Ā
She thinks she couldā€™ve, with more time and more opportunity but she threw that away, threw Sophie away and that feels almost as bad as losing Jolie.Ā
Grady comes to her, like he has again and again and again, always Grady-and-Edaline left. Edaline cries into his embrace and mourns, and Grady tells her softly to go to bed, rest, this is only making it worse.Ā
And- and Edaline knows that, alright? Edaline just hates that Gradyā€™s right, because it means that sheā€™s not better, and itā€™s been too long and Edalineā€™s so tired and she misses Jolie and she misses Sophie already.Ā
She tells him she wants to sleep in Jolieā€™s room, and Grady looks at her, quiet and heavy. Edaline hates that she sees understanding in Gradyā€™s eyes- it only serves as reminder that Grady is grieving just like her, loves Sophie just like her, knows above anyone else how much this hurts her.Ā
He reminds her that we agreed you wouldnā€™t do this anymore. Not since Jolie.
Edaline just sinks further into Jolieā€™s bed in response, and Grady sighs. He knows thereā€™s nothing to do when Edaline gets like this, makes up her mind and doesnā€™t budge.
Itā€™s quiet. Too quiet.Ā
It hasnā€™t been too quiet since- back then, the first few decades Jolie was gone, and before Sophie. Back then the house was quiet with solemnity and grief, mourning muffling the world around them. Now it just feels lonely again, devoid of Sophieā€™s lively presence the past few months. Sophieā€™s just upstairs, Edaline knows, but all she can see hear feel is her and Grady and Jolieā€™s room, empty of both the daughters they lost.Ā
The knowledge that she chose this- that her own two feet led them back to this lonely house has her asking Grady, ā€œDo you think we made the wrong decision?ā€
Grady hesitates, still and uncertain. ā€œIā€¦ donā€™t know.ā€
ā€œMe either,ā€ Edaline whispers. She sits up in the bed, looking at Jolieā€™s purple walls and her photos and her memories, and remembers what itā€™s like to care for a daughter. Remembers how happy Jolie was and how angry and defeated Sophie had been all at once. ā€œShe looks so hurt. Do you think we should-ā€
Grady cuts her off, wary. ā€œDo you think sheā€™d actually want to stay with us now?ā€ He pauses, ā€œBesides, I thought you said it was too hard having her around.ā€
And the thing is- it was, because Sophie looked so much like Jolie and had that same nervousness yet enthusiasm for the things in the world that had grown old to Edaline. It hurt in the way that looking at ghosts of the past do, and Edaline had spiraled into memories and mourning, haunted by resemblance. It hurt, reopening old wounds, but it was still so wonderful, having to care for someone and growing to love them.Ā
That night she stays in Jolieā€™s room, drifting into dreams of futures turned futile.
-
Then Sophie goes missing, and they hold a Planting for the second time, and Edaline is thrown back a century.
She spends nights curled up in Jolieā€™s room and days checking on Sophieā€™s, looking for memories and ghosts and hope. She grieves again as her world, her family falls to pieces again.Ā
They find the shredded letter announcing the cancellation of Sophieā€™s adoption proceeds. Edalineā€™s heart is as torn as the crinkled paper in her hands. They made the wrong decision, Edaline realises too late. Knows in her heart that they wouldā€™ve loved Sophie despite losing Jolie. Knows they shouldā€™ve kept their daughter even if it meant losing her again
She thinks about fires and ocean waves- how her daughters have been ripped away from her in laughably different ways, taunting her with loss.Ā
She thinks about second chances, and how sheā€™s lost them.
-
Third timeā€™s the charm.
Third timeā€™s the charm, Edaline mouths to herself over and over when she gets her daughter- when she gets Sophie back. Edaline holds Sophie tighter the way she regretted never doing before; the way she never got to hold Jolie one last time.Ā
Then Sophie chooses to stay with them, and she says, ā€œI love you guys.ā€Ā
In her mind, Edaline lets Jolie rest.Ā  She leaves the nights waiting for a daughter who will never come back in Jolieā€™s room.Ā Ā
She thinks of Sophie, lost and now found. She thinks of the way the house that has been too quiet for too long becomes home again with Sophie. She thinks of the empty spaces waiting for photos. For now, Edaline holds her second daughter close, and vows never to let go again.

Which line should I start my fic with?
(Context: it's canon compliant dexiana but I'm still trying to figure out where in the timeline it fits)
(Also these are not final versions so wording may change)
#1
"Biana had never understood Sophie's aversion to sedatives.
Now, being in her "Almost Dying" shoes, she understood even less.
She was bleeding, her face and arms were shredded, there was just so much painā€¦ all that she wanted at that moment was to be knocked out and forget all of it."
#2
"Biana had been beautiful all her life.
She knew it, she cherished it. She would bring attention to that fact with perfectly coordinated outfits and flawless, but simple, makeup and accessories. Never over-doing it, but always looking put together.
She got the highest grades, she had her fair share of friends (at least in Level One) but none of that got her as much praise as her reputation for being the prettiest in the school
Looking in the mirror, she doubted sheā€™d get that reputation back."
#3
ā€œBiana slept in a guest room that night.
It was the only place in the house that didnā€™t have any mirrors. Which was exactly what she needed at that moment.
She traced a finger around one of the larger scars on her right forearm. She could still see the faint skin tone difference in the dim lighting, but she was far too numb and tired to care.
But hey, at least she wasnā€™t crying about it. ā€œ

yā€™all Iā€™m trying to give Tessa the benefit of the doubt but when she thinks shit like ā€œSophie would be more beautiful if it wasnā€™t thanks to her scarā€ or how when she sees Camille, she thinks ā€œoh downworlders can be beautifulā€ girl like what did you expect?
I will give her some points.
1. sheā€™s very new at this whole being a downworlder thing, I get that
2. sheā€™s just been through physical and psychological torture
3. her whole family is practically gone and she doesnā€™t know if or where Nathaniel is
but sheā€™s so fucking sheltered and has this sort of one dimensional (if thatā€™s the word Iā€™m thinking of) thinking. yes the dark sisters are atrocious and these are the only downworlders she knows. the way shadowhunters at the institute talk about downworlders could also be part of her thinking. the codex doesnā€™t put them in a good light. but why would you assume theyā€™re all evil monsters who are ugly?????? GIRL YOU ARE A DOWNWORLDER EVEN IF YOU VIEW YOURSELF AS PLAIN
like Tessa goes on about how Nate is so sheltered and needed protecting but isnā€™t she sort of exhibiting the same behavior??????
Iā€™m sorry Iā€™m trying my best to try to like her but I just canā€™t. this series could have been about Tessa and what the downworlders endure since all CCā€™s books have a shadowhunter as the main characters but her books donā€™t do them justice. it could have been about Tessa adapting and learning to be a downworlder and everything that comes with that but CC put a little bow on it and it made it some romance mirroring almost CLACE as if we needed another version of that. then it became what Will needed and wanted.
WE DO NOT NEED CONTENT WHERE A WOMAN DOESNT USE HER MIND AND GOES THROUGH LIFE PLEASING HER MAN AND DOING WHAT HE WANTS (at least I donā€™t fucking want it)
and how dare she say Sophie isnā€™t beautiful??? or as beautiful????? yes tessa isnā€™t aware that Sophie has been through some abuse but sheā€™s got a scar, so donā€™t think sheā€™s not as beautiful because of it. like what if tessa had some mark due to her torture from the dark sisters and someone judged her for it??????
I donā€™t know, maybe Iā€™m taking this too far and thinking about it too hard but I just donā€™t like the way Tessaā€™s pov is going. to me, itā€™s just another ā€œletā€™s focus on the manā€™s feelings instead of how I feel about this sudden change and then just be a shadowhunter instead.ā€ she doesnā€™t use any of her power after TID. and Iā€™ll never forgive her for having sex with Will immediately after learning Jem is gone. Jem seriously loved the fuck out of her and I feel she only stayed with him out of pity. ā€œoh jems dying so letā€™s give him his last wish before he goesā€- Iā€™m sorry but I donā€™t like this message. it is personal to me because I donā€™t like people feeling bad or sorry for me because of my health which is something I donā€™t have control over. I would be okay with a Jem and Tessa pairing if it was real and authentic but it doesnā€™t come off that way for me
please donā€™t ever allow CC to write anyone with a disability/chronic illness/addiction EVER AGAIN
but I do want to state that I do feel for her and this situation but the writing is so against her. I donā€™t know maybe Iā€™m just being my extra self again lmao

Would love to hear u talk more about Clem and Minnie mirroring one another if u havenā€™t already šŸ¦…
i have Not >:) cracks knuckles
talking about minnie can be hard since she Really only exists in eps 3 and 4. eps 1 and 2 keep the twins pretty mysterious we only learn a few things about them. i think the most important thing we know about them tho is that they (or at least minnie) provided a sense of relief for the ericson kids. tenn saying how minnie would sing them "dont be afraid" when they were feeling scared. i think its safe to assume she wrote the song Specifically to have a way to make the other kids feel better when things were rough
when the twins die the kids lose this emotional support and we can tell its been hard on all of them (some more than others). but then in comes clementine. our girl whos been carrying the "light in the darkness" motif since season 1. and although she got that shit a little dirty in seasons 2 and 3 (ava going off in s3 about how clem and aj are light and hope and shit so we're still supposed to see it (and recognize that clem has become so Dark in s3 without aj)), she got her light back when she got aj back and she'll die protecting him
clem (and aj) fall very quickly into the hole the twins left. now its clem who makes them feel safe. first with finding them food then protecting them against the raiders ("youre our savior clem" "we were more scared than we let on when you met us. you made that go away"). its not an accident theyre put up in the twins room. and with the way violet grabs the frame and looks at it sadly we can even assume clem sleeps in minnies old bed (also the old torn down paintings seem to only be on ajs side of the room and hes got his whole "i wanna be an artist too" thing going on). clem has unintentionally taken on minnies old role of making the kids feel safe and reassured
then we finally meet minnie. and based on how the others described her there is definitely a piece of herself that shes lost (that shes killed). her light is gone now. and although her motivations have been warped, they remain the same. i do genuinely believe she is still trying to protect the ericson kids and do whats best for them, but just in the only way she thinks she can to stop more people from dying. she might even think the pros of living with the delta are worth the cons. clementine is the one teaching them to fight back but minnie knows from experience that fighting back just gets you killed, so she feels like if she can just stop clementine then everything will be fine ("youre the FUCKING problem here" "i wont let you get them all killed" and she does seem genuinely concerned if clem and vi are fighting in the cell. and obviously we know she doesnt want anything to happen to tenn). both minnie and clem want to protect the ericson kids they just have conflicting opinions about which is the right way to do it. but minnie Does show her ass when she ends her "if you just do what they say you can live" speech with "you can be rewarded just like i am" šŸ‘€ oh girl... she didnt just give up she gave in. killing sophie was her breaking point and i really wish we knew more about how that scene went down outside of lillys dramatic retelling i would like to see it objectively please. but based on the way lilly tells it, minnie (im sure begrudgingly) accepted her place at the delta before it even came to that, and was probably just pulled along by sophie when she tried to escape. which is probably why (im assuming) lilly gave her the choice to kill sophie to stay with the delta (her New family), and she did... she kills a piece of herself when she does this (only compounded by the twin imagery), and i think her seeing clem fight back reminds her of sophie and brings all those feelings to the surface. and if she can just kill clem everything will be ok, cuz it worked last time....
minnie singing "dont be afraid" when attacking them on the bridge. a song that once brought them peace now being used to herald death. but since she approaches already singing it she was probably singing it to soothe herself as she succumbs to her bite, walking away from the wreckage she blames on clem, her delta family dead (she Did care about them in a fucked up way), using a herd of walkers against them the same way clem used a herd of walkers to attack the boat. all minnie cares about at this point is finding tenn, and she does, and shes gonna take him with her. just like clem looking for aj, finding him, and taking him. but where clem would die to protect aj, minnie wants to kill tenn to take him "home" with her. add to this ajs feelings about ending up alone without clem and wanting to be walkers together if it came to it. this is why tenn dying on the bridge feels narratively fulfilling to me even tho i hate it šŸ˜ tenn wants to be with minnie (and sophie and their parents) and death doesnt scare him. it kinda comforts him. him and minnie dying together here is like the dark fate clem and aj barely avoid
and then vi fitting into this as she became tenns caretaker after the twins left. she also wants whats best for him so her and minerva fighting at the end for tenn is interesting. especially since violet (and louis but he wasnt tenns caretaker the way vi was) can die throwing him over the gap. i like the layers violet adds to being in the bridge scene, and it makes it even more sad when she cant protect him because thats all shes been trying to do since before clem and aj even showed up. plus aj shooting tenn puts violet in a similar position to louis in regards to marlons death
i really love the ways violets route adds to all the minnie and tenn stuff. and the way we can see clems influence change her. how a saved violet is ready to fight with clem but a kidnapped violet believes in minnies goals and thinks giving up is the safest plan for everyone. because regardless if you save her or not violet ALSO wants to keep the ericson kids safe and just doesnt know the best way to do it. clem encourages violet to step up and minnie encourages violet to give up (warping her character growth which is why i cant Not save her šŸ˜ and the betrayal of it all). using violet as a common denominator is another way to differentiate between clem and minnie. then throw the romance on top of that.... you can see why i get a little...Sillay.. this is ALSO why i dont like vinerva in any romantic capacity post the events of ep3 and why i love seeing vi with clem. its what they each encourage in her. minnies weakness, clems strength.... why seeing vi and minnie fight clem makes me want to cry but seeing clem and vi fight minnie makes me jump off the walls LETS GOOO
and i havent even talked about lilly yet.... how if lee took lilly up on her offer in S1 about stealing the RV together clem couldve ended up in her custody.... i definitely believe clem looks at minnie and sees some broken scared part of herself in there. she is Fiercely Loyal and would do anything for her family so if she was raised (or broken) in that environment (and it seems very "ends justify the means" with the delta as it sounds like its actually pretty good over there if you can look past the intimidation and torture and kidnapping) i could definitely see her being the one standing behind lilly in some other universe. its what lilly still tries to do with her but its too late (and so lilly tries it with aj instead which is still a way to get to clem). but clems grown now and shes been making her own choices for a long time. shes already been through this with the new frontier (and hell even with carver at howes). she'd die before she gave in. and minnie made the choice to kill her sister to save herself
even with the little info we actually have on minnie she still works pretty well as a foil to clem. this is why i find it easier to talk about minnie when comparing her to clem like i feel like its her main purpose. i feel like theres still more i could say its just eluding me. its not a coincidence that minnie almost takes clem down with her in the end. why shes the reason clems able to get bit. minnie blames clem for her own demise and she's gonna get in one last fuck you. and minnies fate is one clem is desperately trying to avoid. kinda šŸ‘€ to be taken down by your narrative foil

New voice claims for the Salvatorix crew
A note for Elliott's vc:
I said in a previous post from the poll that Elliott is a French Canadian/Quebecer man and I know everyone would be confused about why I gave him a French dub vc. There are similarities between French and Quebec French but I think it's the accent that changes between the two languages. I am trying my hardest to find a fitting vc for Elli but failed to do so and went on with the French dub instead. It really took me a while but I hope this will suffice.

One of The Many Tales of The Tomo Family.
Or: One Of My Tutors Wants To Know About My Lore.
Philip's day started, and he then heard someone falling down the stairs.
By this point, he has developed something of an additional sense to figuring out who fell down the stairs. But this time, a deep, feminine groan of pain told him it was Gunn.
Getting up, he made his way over to do his morning routine. Shower, brush his teeth, do his hair, put on his clothes; and as he looked at his mirror, and his reflection gazed back.
He was skinny. Nearly anorexic. Yet, his white hair fell back gracefully down to just above his knees, as deep purple eyes gazed back, little lavalamp earrings glittering. His everyday ensemble was extravagant to some; a greyish-purple tailcoat suit, with grey pants, boots and a large, purple cape.
The cape kept a little something he has as a surprise tool in check. But he'd have worn one anyways. If a bit smaller. Because he looks like Batman and not Ezio.
Philopator Agronium Isekaiden Tomo. And yes, his father was drunk while naming him. And everyone else.
He went downstairs, where he saw M'Gunnhildr Midorri Misstral Tomo, or Gunn, on the floor sprawled out. Short, dyed green hair and damp green eyes looked at Philip, herself dressed in a casual ensemble of pants and a t-shirt that says, 'yes i'm gay, was it the vibes that told you?'.
"Having fun?" Philip dryly asked.
"Oh, an amazing time." came Gunn's equally as dry reply. "Mind helping? I really can't be bothered this early in the morning."
Roll his eyes he did, but Philip still helped her up. Gumi's long ribcage expanded around her body, similar to an endoskeleton, and gave her the defence of a brick wall. Thankfully, not the intelligence.
"So, what's your work for the day?" Gunn called from the table, as Philip started to make breakfast. And with Gunn, it's always milk and cereal. In that order.
It's 2026 AMV, give her a break.
"A sudden Cocen meeting; I have to find Llo'Llo and An."
The Coven is the unofficial government of Diianas, and more of a talk show. Llo'Llo, the pint sized Ghoul Huntress, is a member, with her daughter Llo'An, or just An, as a guest, her daughter a Ghost Soother.
The point is, they have yet to come home after a late night ghost hunt. Normally, it wouldn't be a concern, but it was one ghost.
From behind the frame of the door, Malikuth Jiyuux Lilliean Tomo, her Marfan Syndrome riddled body coming into line of sight, looked at Philip, light blue eyes dead and her long blue hair in loose twintails lifeless.
Philip pushed the coffee mug to her and she nearly drank it all in one gulp. After a moment, and a silent "'Scuse me", Maliku looked up, eyes now less dead inside, as she tried to smooth out her creased suit and trousers.
"Thanks, I feel like I just hit by a bus." Maliku's voice wasn't as deep as Gunn's, mostly part to her being born female sans having the male reproduction organ, and more due to her tiredness in the morning. Usually, she sounds like someone who gets things done.
"Didn't you, though?" Gunn asked, a small quirk of her lips at Maliku, who blinked and sat down at the long table.
"'Bout a year back."
Another yawn, and as Philip exited the kitchen, T'hœmaas Makalinotol Tomo sat down, dark blue hair short minus the long wolftail at the back, along with dark blue eyes on an effeminate face. He wore his usually outfit, a suit over a blouse, and took a sip from his Darjeeling tea.
"Ah, excellen'. 'Ow are ya'all?" he sounded suspiciously like MĆ²rag from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. And that wasn't even a joke, he literally just sounds like her.
"Just about to head out, Thomas. I should be back in... call it an hour or two maybe."
"Righ', righ'. Off ya trot, troublemaker." that wry grin came upon his face, and Philip rolled his eyes, but a small smile was on his face.
"Sure, sure."
-----------------------
He first checked out the Bridge of St. Sophie. Llo'Llo is short, about 4'0, and her skittish personality off work doesn't help show she's 59 years old.
He did, however, find a short, black-haired girl and a taller, brown-haired girl.
Saiori, now called Heir Saiori of Haravin, and Nakitchi, the disgraced noble of Obliviution.
"Kcantro, lovebirds." a simple wave was all that was needed. "Enjoying the morning sun?"
That was something of a inside joke; Diianas was in the Frozen North, and many mountains, including Mt. Kiiriel, blocked out most of the sun. In this, enjoying the morning sun was more akin to, enjoying when it starts getting slighter brighter and before the Luxz turned on.
"Philip. And, eh." a nod and a shrug from Saiori. "The heck are you doing up so early?"
"Coven meeting in two hours; trying to find Llo'Llo."
Saiori's eyes, a molten gold, squinted. "You have got to be aljiralfrin joking me."
"Omaru, language." Nakitchi quietly spoke up, pink eyes glittering as she looked at her fiancƩ. Turning to Philip, she shook her head. "I'm sorry, but no. Last I heard was she was in the Garden."
"That helps, and nice talking to you both. See you later on, Saiori."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever..."
They're nice, really. Just not in the mornings, heh.
-----------------------------
Next was Llizel's Garden.
Finding the pale green of Llo'Lo's hair is difficult enough, even when her yellow eyes glow like traffic lights.
Even then, he next came across the stranger visitors of Diianas, from the neighbouring Minor City of Twerkana.
Trisha, X, and Ar'qil. Trisha was a regular human, with X an alien and Ar'qil on the same boat as X.
He quickly walked past them No offence to them, he just needs someone who gets around a lot and not just around the bedroom.
Which led to the blond magician and her black-haired helper, Marie and Mary.
Marie was very... flamboyant. Mary was quiet. And also very gay for each other.
It's 2211008 AD, give them a break.
This then led Philip to the Neon Streets, and to Katrinka, the debt collector, who actually had seen Llo'Llo earlier that day. Following the trail then led to Charlie, a newreporter from the other City, Will, who is Charlie's father and has a relationship with his son that Philip realky doesn't want to try and figure out, Shovai Noir, the resident goth, and Reii, the person who might be the eldritch being, Omega, but that's a story for another day.
Finally, he reached a small building, and inside was numerous supplies. Philip himself was no Ghoul Hunter, but he could tell that the two were pulled into an illusion cast by the Ghoul.
Quickly and efficiently, he used the limited resources--Thank you, paranoia of Llo'Llo--and made a door. The goal of the door was to appear in the illusion and get them out.
And a moment later, Llo'Llo and An came tumbling out.
"W-WHY DO I KEEP THIS JOOOOOOOOB?!" came Llo'Llo's cry.
An shrugged. "More fool us, heh."
---------------------------------------
They sat around in a circle of chairs.
Professor Kanae Severus, Dynol Cyn, Roshiua, Xaltrin, Llo'Llo, and Saiori.
"Everyone here?" Cyn's calming voice echoed throughout the room. Nods were given.
"Excellent." she smiled. "And then, with this, The Coven shall converse."

Let the denial begin:
Tumblr media
All of this because Sophie is wearing a dress she bought over 5 years ago. Yup, they don't understand why she's wearing old clothes. It can't be because it's a nice dress, it has to be photoshop.
And then there's the comment Gatorshit's brain dead followers posted under the picture.
Tumblr media
Maybe Ben simply had a hair cut. They do tend to do that when actors are filming. You know, so the hair looks the same. It was just a matter of time before we got a pic of the happy couple. Everyone knew that Sophie wasn't hiding or dying. Only Patty's cult members thought so.
But it seems some of her followers are slowly, very slowly, starting to see the light. Not sure how long it'll last though.
Tumblr media
It's not unusual, he never looks unhappy when Sophie is around. Maybe these 2 are finally starting to see sense. Though I suspect Gatorshit will bring them to heel soon enough. We all know she doesn't tolerate dissent among her cult members.

I just found some of these were searching on Waterstones that I didn't know had been announced. Also very aware that some of my favourite authors may also not have announced 2025 releases yet. I want to read more Agatha Christie, and I'm also determined to read at least one Stephen King book, but I don't know where to start, if anyone can suggest any?
So far this year I've read The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst which I enjoyed for a cosy cottage core fantasy vibe, The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop which I really enjoyed(I was almost sobbing on the Tube when she wrote about her husband dying), What Does it Feel Like? by Sophie Kinsella which I read in one sitting and made me want to give her a hug. I'm almost finished A Well Trained Wife by Tia Levings, which I've had to put down a few times as it's so difficult to read subject matter wise, but she is a great writer.
I've seen a lot of people do this already, so open tag to anyone who wants to play.

Tagged by @karlavhh omg I just love movies idk I think Iā€™ll try to think of three movies that I got more obsessed in every stage of my life
1. Anastasia (1997) - this movie is in my heart always I even had the yellow dress , got the doll , the music box , a Polly pocket , the XD soundtrack and even my 5 year old party was of Anastasia I know all the dialogues and songs , I always get nostalgia cause i loved my grandma like Anya
2. Hunchback of Notredame (1996) - this movie marked my curiosity in knowing more about the Roma people cause I wanted to dance like Esmeralda ( in later years I found out that dance was a lie and just performance and Roma dance is way diferent ) and Quasimodos struggle got me going to watch this on repeatšŸ„² like I used to sing heavens light like him cause I was like Iā€™m ugly
3. santitos (1998) -i was a kid when I saw this one and I just love it , itā€™s an underrated Mexican movie and was one of the first movies that taught me that death doesnā€™t mean gone and was filmed in Tlacotalpan
4. Anna Karenina (1997) this movie was one of my favorites to watch everytime I saw it was on tv and as I grow older I change my views about the characters , at first I was like poor Anna , then I was like men she was kinda toxic now I just love the side story of Levin and Kity , also I got a sick obsession to Sophie Marceau and I do a rewatch every year
5. Wuthering heights (1992) - Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes are so good , the soundtrack by Ryuichi Sakamoto, the visuals , and the fact they covered most of the book , and also I blame this movie for my love of toxic ships
6. The Virgin Suicides (1999) - I was 13 and got obsessed with this movie and the song playground love of air , Idk why I didnā€™t realize that liking a movie about a bunch of teen dying and having mental issues wasnā€™t exactly mentally healthy but I was just so into the atmosphere , and the girls and how they never figure out why they did it
7. All about Lily chou chou (2000) - another teen suicide movie I was obsessed I loved the soundtrack and this movie also got me into Asian cinema , cause they just capture the loneliness in a way I canā€™t describe
8. Fallen Angels (1995) - first Wong Kar Wai movie i saw and wanted to know everything about it , also started my crush in Takeshi Kaneshiro , I just love the loneliness that Asian cinema portrays
9. The crow (1994) - this movie is on my Halloween rewatch always , the plot is simple but man the soundtrack , the fact that is Brandon Leeā€™s last role and the vengeance plot got me , another one that always remembers me death doesnā€™t mean gone
10. Lady vengeance (2005) - my favorite Park Chan Wook movie , I just love vengeance movies and this was one of the first I saw of Korean cinema
11. Evangelion death and Rebirth (1997)- I was like 12 when I saw this and hadnā€™t watch the anime and I understood nothing cause this is like a review of the first 24 chapters and still I watched it in repeat
10 films i love
tagged by @zurdoabsurdo my bisexual wife (acrylics on canvas)
in no particular order except the first two im adamant about, also theyā€™re all very poignant because i donā€™t like to have fun
jean de florette/manon des sources ā€” counting these two as one because theyā€™re part the same story (theĀ water of the hills), and hands down the most beautiful films ever made (in my unbiased opinion). the score, the acting, the settings, the everything I canā€™t recommend them enough. theyā€™re very dear to me
persepolis ā€” a powerful movie adapted from marjane satrapiā€™s autobiographic graphic novel that rewired my entire brain when i was a child. I cry every single time šŸ¦¢
whiplash ā€” very intense, very beautiful, miles teller and jk simmons rock my entire world
iā€™m thinking of ending things ā€” iā€™m gonna stop calling every film in this list beautiful but itā€™s the truth (i even got a line/still from this one tattooed). i hated this one upon my first viewing because it confused me, and at the same time i was so fascinated that i eventually came back and watched it again and again and again. i find something new every time
bye bye morons (adieu les cons) ā€” another french one, a comedy drama that was very touching
tandem ā€” french, iā€™d describe it the same as i did the previous one. theyā€™re both about lonely people
the truman show ā€” another childhood favorite, itā€™s whimsical and it hits you hard
slumdog millionaire ā€” incredibly powerful film in my opinion, with an amazing score that i would listen to on loop as a kid
the chorus (les choristes) ā€” i joined a choir when i was little because i loved this movie so much, i still remember all the songs. this one holds a very special place in my heart
life is beautiful (la vita ĆØ bella) ā€”this one will also make me cry every single time. itā€™s a war movie but itā€™s about love what more can i say
tagging @la-pheacienne @geitonas @themadknightuniverse @salamancvnt @molekisser @karlavhh @rosayoro @howabhwmwn @abliafina-18782 @finalmoss and everyone willing :)
