Actually I will go on this rant. The main forms of 'proof of disability' are benefits.

The DWP are killing us

The process of trying to get benefits is traumatic and humiliating. I personally was on PIP, reapplied because I needed a wheelchair and was taken off it. The reasons cited were that I wasn't in specialist care (the CFS clinic just writes you off if you can manage and I was on the waiting list for mental health support), I 'didn't sound distressed enough'. Some of the examples of this don't sound right but unfortunately I wasn't well enough to remember to ask for it to be recorded and I don't remember what I said and I wasn't well enough to appeal. They didn't give me a choice of appointment so my mum was at work so I didn't have anybody to advocate for me. I am not realistically well enough to do another PIP assessment, it is incredibly difficult and potentially triggering and I simply do not have the mental health support to go through that. I'm incredibly lucky that I don't have to put my life at risk in order to survive.

The idea of proof of disability is inherently limiting, abled people simply don't want to know about the nuances about disability, they don't want your actual experiences, they have an idea about disability and if you deviate from that you're faking which ironically makes it easier for 'fakers' (I'm of the opinion that if you're going through all that then you need the help and I'm not going to judge or begrudge you but the point still stands).

And now they want to force us to work remotely or else lose benefits when many of us still can't.

I understand the abled logic behind proof of disability but it is enforcing a system that wants us dead, that wants us unable to do things like go to the footie and have fun and live.

Hello, I hope it goes well for you! I have a question, are you in a wheelchair? If so, have you ever been to Tottenham Stadium (or any other stadium)? Can you share your experience as a wheelchair user there? If it's your first time going, could you tell us your impressions after the game? COYS, I wish you a good game! Sorry if there are any errors, I'm using the translation.

I am a wheelchair user but unfortunately I've ever used it at a stadium. Most stadiums require 'proof of disability' which I don't have at this moment in time. I could go on a whole spiel about how much I hate 'proof of disability' culture and the way it harms disabled people but I'll save it. I was very pleasantly surprised that I didn't need proof to book a wheelchair ticket for the women's game against Leicester. What I end up doing is working out public transport to the shortest walking distance and then I have my crutches and multiple rest breaks which isn't the most convenient. The game is at the King Power (ironically I'm actually going to London this Friday to see England Vs Malta [no wheelchair space still trying to work my route out for that one 😅] so naturally that's the weekend they're playing the away day closest to me.) I'll definitely share my experiences afterwards though! I've never actually been to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Hopefully in the not too distant future!

Really love it when shows develop arcs over multiple seasons and reveal new depths about characters' psyches that provide insight into their actions from past seasons.

While showcasing well-planned writing that astonishes and moves me every single time, it also helps me act like only I know the secrets when people are still catching up on earlier seasons.

The “I Wanna Sex You Up/Hate Me Now” mashup was a fucking masterpiece and the fact that in-universe it was cut because audiences might be “uncomfortable” with the black queer reading and that irl it’s the only song from the musical not available anywhere is telling. Mad forever about it.
