one of the thing thats just casually glossed over in aitsf is that date was waiting all night by mizuki's bed side. like?
#duri vs the eyeball game#i could never understand why the game treated mizuki.... the way it did in the right branch#mizuki shouldve been actively involved in all of the routes at least in date's internal monologue#like i wonder where mizuki is or if she has eaten#jesus the reason date even knows to warn iris is bc he sees 'iris' in mizuki's route#and yet she isnt even an active assistant at any point in the right branch? like!#like idk i think the major reason why the right branch feels the way it does to me is bc most of the time date is just like#getting yanked around#instead of doing any actual investigation#all why neglecting mizuki#like thats not who he is. he no matter what route he did wait by mizuki's bedside#he did give her an adorabbit it is a fact in every route#he did 'teach' her to fight back#he did make her stew and he did learn cooking for her and he did make sure his meal were nutricious#like it doesnt make sense to have him doing all of that and not have mizuki be an active portion of the right branch#even if she is not the focus of that branch she Is the focus she is a vital part of date's life#but well. fucking whatever. i guess.

man i know its not the point but bw mizuki who is the daughter that refuses to be dependent/damsel'd despite desperately needing support and iris who is the daughter and the destined damsel in distress of the game..... it just clicks

like in the resolution branch mizuki & date act completely distant to each other... and then in aini where it continues from that branch they dare to act as if mizuki & date's relationship has healed/improved enough for her to miss him all that much ("he used to say scary lanterns all the time") and pick up his habits ("mirror mirror who is the most handsome/prettiest police of them all") or for her somnium to be date's residence with the stew and the family picture on the corkboard AND the renju-shoko vs date sequence... like its so lazy and unearned! that didnt happen in resolution route! she wasnt forced to recognize date as a more important parental figure in that route! and date still probably had not taken her to get unagi!

and god i wish mzk & date had just been cameos or just made a few appearances in aini instead of trying to include them in all while trying to avoid spoilers which resulted in them having shallower than a puddle relationship... and then not even aiba shines in the game which is just.... like why would you do that to her!

im starting to come around on iris i think... like sure for her route you have to believe in conspiracy nonsense but really, its what she clings on to keep on living.... and if you've ever gone through the hell of watching a loved one dying, day by day, its... compelling to believe a miracle will suddenly make everything ok again

date in mizuki's branch is like im going to take care of this child and im going to solve this crime. date in iris's branch is like im going to neglect a child im the guardian of who just lost her mom, get blackmailed into driving a 18yo around town, believe in conspiracy theories and let a convicted murderer escape
