~Current Obsession~
Baldur's Gate 3
Here are my twin Durges! Part of the Twinverse, created in cahoots with my True Soul @archesa.
Bhaal tried to make twins, it went awry. They share a soul.
Demus is a sorcerer specialized in ice and swift removal of innards. Former leader of the Bhaal cult, he can't fathom for the life of him why the racoon man has such an effect on him. He's careful and calculating, keeping his empathy hidden beneath his composure.
Durga is an oathbreaker paladin who balances a fierce joy of life with a fascination for death and its arts. Former Unholy Assassin and right-hand man to his brother, he held the Slayer form before Orin betrayed them. He's known to his companions for his good-natured disposition and devastating quips, as well as an odd taste for dwarf meat.
After the nautiloid crash, all they could remember were each other.

Welp, took a bit of time but i finished with the drawing (somehow)
Sooo for context i been kinda relapse into fate brainroot, due to 1 finishing fate zero and 2 getting fate go to work in my pc... so i kinda decided why not and with some random generator stuff decided to make and oc

So here she is Silvia Winfree and her servant durga,i think it turn pretty nice but i might do some digitilisation and other stuff with her since i have some ideas for her
Also i am going to yap about this gal for a bit if you excuse me (i spend a day researching stuff of fate and irl i need to put the brainworms somewhere)
So first off, this gal as i said is Silvia (as in nature of forest/ queen of nature) Winfree ("wini" as friend in old german and "free" as in the english word, aka friend of the free), is part of the Winfree family, a the fourth generation of magus family that specialises in astrology, specificly in regards with the magical effects of outside forces of space (like commets, asteroids, moons, ect.)
Originaly the Winfree family was part of the more religiously incline Winfried, a magus german family suspected to be active since the holy roman empire as astrolgoist and clerics. This family while a magus family due to their unique history keep tight ties with the holy church as direct protectors of "the peace of god", helping the church as mercenaries and assasins in service of god However in 1985, the next in line to be the lead of the Winfried family fell in love with a woman outside the creed, this eventually left this man and others like him to migrate to the americas, separing their ties with the Winfried family changing their surname intecionaly to Winfree as mockery of their original family name
The Winfree family established themselfs in Argentina Rio negro, there they begain to take to the land, stablising a very renowned fruit company, mostly known for their apples, in there the new magus family would take a more agnostic desire to undestand the stars and a much more free form view of magus, setting freedom as the paradigm of their philosophy The winfree family due to their previous connections with the holy church had a hard time fitting in the magas associaton, tho due to the fact they posses some of the knownlage of their previous family some menbers were allowed on the clock tower, while not outstanding they did get quite the reputacion for their multiphased spells and their help in research in the astromy deparment, tho due to their belive of "freedom" had mix relations with the menbers in said deparment, despite this over the fourth generations they have become quite the part of the deparment of astrology
Silvia Winfree was born 1984, tecnicly the second in line her brother stand out of his possition (this is normal in the Winfree family due to their general polocies of individualaty and freedom) making her the lead of the house of Winfree, however she always is quite the controversial figure in her family, despite being an execellent magus and her suprising innate talent to simply spells to conjure them faster and accident an early age and a faithfull encounter made her a christian beliver, due to this part of her family while acknolage her capacities despises her due to her religuos affiliations and how they echo old wounds of the separation of the main family Still Silvia has take it in strive, being quite a talented mage and her blatan lack of self awareness socialy has made little to divert for her own goals, taking the mantel of head of family very seriously, going at the age of 16 to the clock tower (even tho she was tecnicly not invited yet, but it didnt matter much to her), since then she study as much as she could trying to perfect her family (and secretly her own) magical abilities
However there is something more to this entusiam, in her faithfull life or death encounter she learned of the holy grail world, unknown to her family she has dedicated herself to learn as much as she can of it, in the ideal of participating in the next holy grail war She belives with the power of the holy grail war she could recrated a litteral bing bang of magical energy, bringing the age of myth back from the past, this is because ,despite respecting the rules of the clock tower, she belives all human should be able to do magic, because to her magic is the means of which one defies their destiny (their *fate* if you will)
While in my mind the Holy grail war she is a part of hasnt happen, she is destine (ironicly), to summon durga which she would have a complicated relation to (a destructor god meets a mortal that wants to defy gods and is intrincly facinated by life, so you know toxic yur-)
Andddddddddd that more or less it, sorry i ramble for like 10 years, i need it to get out of my system
#txtart#traditional art#oc#artists on tumblr#fate oc#durga#fate series#fate grand order#sorry for the long post lol a few things i left out tho (yes i did leave things out shockingly)#originaly i was actually gonna make a male oc but i decided againts it cause im a weak individual and i like cute girls#i actually watch a lot of videos and stuff to get some this stuff right (like migrations and stuff)#i recommend Otakudaikun lessons in magecraft those videos were really helpfull to get some of the stuff i didnt understand in right#specially since i have only play the original vn and watch the fate zero anime#i have played some fate go but im hardly finishing the first story after the to tutorial#i selected the servant using those radom generator on shindanmaker#the name that got randomly generated for the oc was Wenfrie Ceraform which went threw a lot of changes#so yeah i have many things i wanna say about this little shit i made up in my head but i will try to stop before this tags look like a nove#despite the pain that was reserching this much it was really fun time (still wanna digitise the drawing tho)

(my life in the background raging like a hurricane) idk why but i’ve been drawn to so many fragrances that have juniper and elemi in the top notes? theoretically i should like them more bc i dooo love piney, fresh green and woody scents but it feels like having them open a fragrance is always a waiting game for creamier and more palatable mid and base notes. diptyque orpheon and the byredo susanne kaufmann collab fragrance both yanked me by the collar after first writing them off and now i can’t stop thinking about them. and i want to be more into herbal perfumes (something about them just suggests healing, home, comfort… like i can pretend to be picking yarrow and sage with arthur morgan while he sketches them in his journal) and i feel like juniper and elemi fragrances are a great gateway drug into that territory. layering with a slightly green sandalwood oil seems to be the trick!
#i want to smell cowboy grass by ds and durga again bc duh the name but the description is sooo arthur morgan coded…#oh to wear a beautiful fragrance that will also smell delicious on my loved ones

It's so funny how my chosen name is somewhat related to my IRL name
#both of them are related to the night sky. which is nice because i love space and astronomy#my chosen name is indu which means 'moon' in sanskrit and my irl name [REDACTED] means 'a night sky adorned with stars'#both my irl name and surname are really uncommon to the point where they get mispronounced almost all the time#in fact my surname is so rare that several sources say that just one in nine crore people have it. on top of that it's limited to my state#on the other hand my name isn't that uncommon but it's uncommon enough to be confused for other names. and that happens a lot#there was one time when my very sanskrit name got confused with my friend's very arabic one. i still laugh about it#fun fact: my irl name comes from a not very well-known avatar of the goddess durga (she has 1000 names so good luck finding mine lol)#uncommon name#rare name#uncommon name problems#rare name problems#uncommon surname#rare surname#india#indian#just indian things#indian stuff#space#astronomy#night#stars#moon#the insomniac archives

Durga is a near-default Durge, and as Bhaal's idea of what a white dragonborn should be, my headcanon is that he has cold blood, like reptiles.
From time to time, on a particularly sunny day, he'll take an afternoon nap on his roof and come down at sunset to share the sun's heat with his vampire boyfriend.
Do you ever spend an uncanny amount of time thinking about how for Spawn Astarion, the sunlight sensitivity will be a chronic condition that he will have to cope with for the rest of his life? Or are you normal (and not living with a disability irl)?
I'm not against all the fixit fanfics that allow him to become a mortal elf again or otherwise mitigate the sun. I've come to enjoy all flavors of Astarion recently and feel that every person's interpretation of him really does have something to offer; there being such a wide variety of art and fanfic in this fandom means I personally benefit, because that means I can happily cherrypick which bits and bobs I want to use for my own headcanons.
Also having a chronic condition myself I just...... Whenever I see a character who has a condition/illness/disability that is chronic and life-long and can't be cured, and then still manage to be a fully-fleshed out person with a life and personality and story, it just sparks so much joy for me.
If you wanna know what my conception of how Astarion copes with his condition, I think it involves a lot of cloaks, gloves, full-length clothes etc. I'm reminded of mobility aid users who customize their devices with stickers or custom parts; knowing Astarion, just because he's allergic to sunlight doesn't mean he isn't gonna be serving. But it's also a lot of effort to get all that stuff together, so maybe he doesn't go out every day. Bringing the heat takes effort, Darling!
Another thing that scratches my disabled brain: the idea of his partner and friends helping him cope with his condition????? This would go hand-in-hand with how important it is that Tav/Durge donates their blood to him, btw. So now think about his partner splurging on a pretty parasol for him as a present, or carefully scheduling their day so they can go on a date after dark.
Idk man I just think it's neat to think about.

Desi magical girl OC named Pushpa! Wanted a break from drawing character assets for a game I'm making and wanted something very self indulgent.
More sketches and 🌸lore🌸 below the cut
I've been watching a lot of magical girl and shojou anime recently and was like wow, I really want to draw a cutsey Indian magical girl main character. I wanted to combine a half sari with a more traditional poofy magical girl dress. I used a lot of flower motifs and gave her a trident to hint at how her powers come from Parvati and Durga. I'm bad at coming up with names but my mum suggested Pushpa and I loved it!
Also I drew more sketches of what a potential show about her and some other magical girls would entail:
Again, I was really trying to combine mythology, South Indian culture and magical girl/shoujo tropes. Let me know what you think fellow south Indians and magical girl lovers 🫡 low-key wanna develop the designs of the other two girls.

Merchant! Please, rant to us about the mythological inspirations of the BurningCheese!
The fact that I came home and sat down and wrote out a detailed post for this ask... The fact that I did research into Hindu mythology for BurningCheese inspo in the first place... (sidenote: Hinduism is legitimately interesting, I had genuine fun learning about it even outside of cringe shipping bs)
THE FACT THAT THERE'S ACTUAL SHIT TO WORK WITH...
Buckle up, buckaroos lol (I'll put it under a cut in case it turns out really long)
Do note that I am not a religious scholar nor a follower of Hinduism, and I didn't do a suuuuuuuper deep dive. I spent a few hours reading different articles/sources and looking at some paintings and the like. Whatever I say is what I derived from my own personal understanding (and my old notes), which may well be flawed!
Let's start with the obvious.
Burning Spice is directly inspired by Shiva, Hindu god of destruction. Important note: in the actual religion, Shiva is not malevolent; the destruction he brings is considered a necessary part of life and the foundation of cosmic balance. He can be temperamental and violent, yes, but he is by and large a pretty decent guy and performs his duty in the cycle of life and death without complaint (obviously, this is where Spice deviates lol)
His hair is a fucking pitch black jungle. Matted af. Just like Burning Spice's. I just felt like saying that lmao (they both look like shit, Shiva wears animal skins and dead people's ashes and doesn't brush his damn hair. HE WENT TO HIS OWN WEDDING LOOKING LIKE THAT! (Until Parvati told him to please freshen up and he went "yes dear, anything for you <3" and manifested fancy groom attire))
Now let's poke our heads into the rabbit hole.
Parvati is Shiva's wife, whom he adores and is wholly devoted to (and vice versa).
She is revered as a life-giver. A goddess of creation, love, devotion, and... ABUNDANCE.
Parvati has many forms. Her original form is that of a beautiful woman wearing a red sari, with a GOLDEN HEADDRESS/HEADBAND and LOTS OF GOLD JEWELRY AND PRECIOUS STONES, WHICH SHE LOVES.
She's very beloved by pretty much everyone. She's elegant, vivacious, and revered as a doting wife and mother
I'm not finished.
One of Parvati's forms is that of a fierce warrior woman called Durga. She is powerful, confident, and no less beautiful than her original self
She has many arms, and a sacred weapon in each one. One of which is a GOLDEN SPEAR.
Durga is regarded as a goddess of protection, war and destruction - but not the malevolent sort. She fights and destroys the forces of evil, for the sake of others'; the destruction she brings is in the name of protecting and liberating innocents, and empowering creation
One of her epithets is Mahamoha, which means "great delusion" - and in this context, the delusion/ignorance derives from intense desire and attachment
Now, with all of that said, I'm gonna tell you guys a story.
Shiva's first wife was Sati, daughter of Daksha. Though they were madly in love, Daksha despised him and never approved of their relationship
The blood between them was so bad that Daksha declined to invite either of them to the yajna (VERY important ritual sacrifice) he was hosting. Against both social norms and Shiva's advice, Sati showed up anyway, which led to her father cruelly insulting her, her marriage and basically her whole fucking life in front of everybody
In protest of everyone's derision of her and the life she chose to live, she throws herself on the sacrificial fire and thus kills herself (extreme and unnecessary, I know lol). Shiva finds out and LOSES. HIS. SHIT. Shows up, goes on a rampage, hurts a bunch of people, beheads Daksha (whom he revives and pardons eventually)
In his grief, Shiva basically decides to retire from everything and seclude himself in the mountains, denouncing the world and everything in it and refusing to interact with anyone or anything
Sati ends up reincarnating as Parvati. She remembers exactly who she is/was, and made it her mission to return to Shiva's side and rekindle their relationship
Shiva doesn't buy that that's his beloved and rebuffs her. She doesn't give up. She tries over and over again to convince him and win his affection. She endures harsh weather without appropriate clothes, starvation, the faces of her own fears and doubts, endlessly; all while continuously performing acts of religious penance/piety. So unwavering is she in her strength and devotion that Shiva eventually, finally realizes that that really is the woman he loved and lost
They reunite and remarry quickly (and it was a big blowout event, too! Very important, there are even several sculptures depicting it!) and they live happily ever after
And a short summary of their union:
Shiva and Parvati are considered complementary forces; one without the other does not make sense and simply cannot be. Parvati is the warm, life-affirming, creative force that balances Shiva's cold, world-denying, destructive one. She's portrayed as having lured Shiva away from his lonely, ascetic lifestyle and showed him the value of life, love and marriage. They're almost always depicted together in artworks, as they're admired/adored not only for their loving partnership, but for the way they uphold cosmic order together. They are life and death. Attachment and detachment. ABUNDANCE AND DESTRUCTION.
It's commonly stated that Parvati is the outright source of Shiva's power. His shakti (not super sure how to explain what this is, it's not very simple. It's... ultimate cosmic energy, basically). She encourages and energizes him. Without her, he is incomplete
They have two kids :P two sons, Ganesha and Kartikeya. (I DID NOT KNOW THIS when I first made up the fankids, I just happened to guess the correct number of kids to give them lol. I thus decided to partially base Pepper Jack on Ganesha and Matar Paneer on Kartikeya, enjoy those links where I explain properly haha (and you can look through their tags to see more abt them if you want))
They also jointly represent harmony between sexes. Shiva is the male aspect, Parvati is the female
They also jointly symbolize love, devotion and sexuality and are said to have a lot of sex (and are also often depicted having sex)
Let me walk you guys through it all one more time. A god who, in his endless rage and grief, chose to forsake the world and all within it, for he believed he had nothing left to value from it...

Who is temperamental, violent, and is not above lashing out at others when he feels wronged... who can and will destroy everything in his path... (You don't need screenshot evidence of this but whatever lol)

Who will lash out at others if they dare to lay their hands on his counterpart, or otherwise keep him away from her...

... And his counterpart, a beautiful, vibrant, benevolent goddess who can take many different forms, including that of an elegant queen adorned with gold and gems, and a great, fearless warrior... (You notice how there's some red in her Soul Jam now? There's that bit of Destruction, used to defend others...)

Who's known and loved for the boundless love and warmth and charity she bestows upon one and all...

Who's known as a creator, a life-giver; who so cherishes the world and what she makes that she allows herself to descend into madness in pursuit of preserving it all... Whose desire and attachment led to ignorance and delusion...

Who, in stubborn defiance of the cruelties she faced, chose to remove herself from them and from the world itself for a time, only to eventually return with her identity and life's purpose still intact, and livelier than ever...

Who takes the form of a hero, a protector of the innocent, a warrior who battles against evil and seeks to vanquish oppression and tyranny...

And together, she and he make up the foundation of the world. The threads with which the great tapestry of the universe is woven. Life and death. Attachment and love for the world, and detachment from and contempt for it. A woman dressed in the finest garments and jewelry, and a man who embodies the unforgiving wilderness in which he sequesters himself.
Abundance and Destruction.

In conclusion: Burning Spice and Golden Cheese are literally Shiva and Parvati, they are husband and wife, they NEED each other and are meant to be together, together they create and maintain the balance of life and the universe, we must all band together and demand that Devsisters release the cutscene that shows their wedding, they are the bride and the ugly ass groom fr fr
#BURNINGCHEESE WAS FORETOLD IN THE SACRED TEXTS!!! Durga clearly learned from her millennia of working for him as she just kept him still. "D-Does it matter at this point, we're stuck here now." she replied. If she even knew what Netzach thought of her she'd be left a blubbering mess.
"C'mere you." She shows her gentler side not moments after her bluster as she kept him close. It was a bit frustrating to start but she can't really get mad with him in the long term
"Like how?"
a frown disgraces your lines. Is this supposed to be something sexy? Casual? Frankly speaking, you only did this to kinda cheer her up - it never once left your mind that the fact remains that she's the most responsible, kindhearted, mother-
Wait, stop. you can't think about Dudga in that nature. What would she say? 'Netz you got mommy issues'.
with that, you tug at the handcuff. Whoops. D'aw. You only created MORE work for your favorite assistant.
#//Netz rambling about how motherly Durga is is funny bc of her name#//named for the Indian mother goddess in opposition to Gebura's original name being Kali#bloodywoes#resilient suffering;DURGA

Writing Ideas: Castles
part 2
Some Castle Tropes
Big Fancy Castle: Big, elaborate, and visually impressive castles.
Bright Castle: Bright castle that signifies a good place, usually.
Good Castles, Evil Castles: Character Alignment as displayed on castle designs.
Haunted Castle: A derelict castle home to the dead or undead.
Ice Palace: A castle sculpted from ice.
Monster in the Moat: Castles with water monsters living in their moats.
Ominous Floating Castle: A visually imposing, intimidating castle floating in the sky, outer space, or an otherworldly void.
Palatial Sandcastle: A sandcastle you can live in.
Storming the Castle: A climatic assault on a fortified base.
Castles & similar structures in other parts of the world
Central and parts of Eastern Europe. Here castles weren't much different from the Western European ones. The only difference is that the local castle-building tradition was not so old; there are no Early Medieval castles in Eastern Europe, and the oldest were built during the High Middle Ages.
Russia. This country's tradition of fortification is a bit different; the rural castle never caught on here. Urban castles and citadels, called kremlins, on the other hand, were quite widespread. Kremlin is not the name of one specific famous citadel, it's a generic term for a city castle. This country also has some Romantic revival castles; these are likely to be found in rural areas.
Japan. Japanese castles, named shiro, are remarkably different in architecture from European ones, because they were built to protect the local feudal lords from local siege tactics, which differed significantly from classic medieval European sieges. Most notably, firearms found a very slow and lukewarm welcome in feudal Japan's Samurai culture, and their introduction only stimulated castle building rather than put an end to it.
The Near East. Castles were introduced to this area by the crusaders, and, were completely based on European designs. However, citadels had been common for centuries, particularly in the Levant (which had been one of the most fought-over regions in the world basically since people could write); although most surviving Middle Eastern citadels date from the Crusader period or just before, one, the Tower of David in Jerusalem, has been a citadel since the 2nd century BCE (albeit one that kept getting destroyed and rebuilt, like the rest of the city).
India. This country's equivalents of castles are called durga in Sanskrit or qila in Hindi. These words were usually translated as "forts", because they were used as army forts by the British colonial army, but they were originally castles.
Southern Africa. The castles in this region were built by the Dutch and German settlers, and aren't much different from those found in Western Europe. While the castles here aren't very old, they tend to be mimicries of the Medieval style.
Examples of Castles around the World
Neuschwanstein. The archetypical Romantic revival castle, it was built by the eccentric king Ludwig of Bavaria ("Mad King Louie" or the "Moon King") when Bavaria was actually part of the federal German Empire but retained its status as an "independent realm." Everyone might recognize this castle as the one shown in the Disney logo and copied in Disneyland parks as the "Sleeping Beauty Castle". This is not surprising, because Ludwig purposefully designed this castle as the fairy-tale castle of his dreams. It is a very popular tourist spot.
St. Michael's Castle, St. Petersburg. Another revival castle, this one is unique in many ways. First, despite being a revival castle, it had a genuine defensive function: it was built by a Properly Paranoid Russian emperor Paul I to serve as his highly secure residence. Second, it has a unique "four-sided" architecture: the four facades of this quadrangular castle show different architectural styles each, from neo-gothic and pseudo-medieval to generic XVIII century palace. It didn't serve its intended function, its owner was killed by conspirators, the castle's defensive moat was filled with ground and it was repurposed as an engineering school (hence its second name, Engineer's Castle). Currently it houses the Russian Museum of Art and is open for visitors.
Krak des Chevaliers, Syria. The archetypical Crusader castle in the Near East, one of the largest and the most well-preserved (until recently). This large concentric castle belonged to the Order of Knights Hospitaller, a famous order of knights who guarded the safety of pilgrims in the Holy Land and eventually evolved into the Sovereign Order of Malta, which still exists to this day.
