Vacation gave me time to experiment and use recipes I've been wanting to make and try, and today I went with, of course, Legends Arceus staple-

Potato mochi!

Its actually really REALLY good and easier than I thought it was to make, and now I can make these as a filling side to my work lunches when I go back! Just imagining making iddy bitty bite sized mini ones would be so goooooood ;w;

When I was initially forming the shape with and without cheese, i found wetting my hands a little helped the potato forming easier and helped smooth the rounded shape more without them cracking and splitting as much. I had used mozzarella cheese for half of them to experiment with and while they were hella good, those ones did fall apart more than I'd like, but its melted cheese inside I should have guessed. I could have cooked mine a bit longer to make them more solidly crispy but the cheese made it spit in the pan a lot when one broke but even with a lighter fry it still is good to have a crunch too. The sauce is also very easy and simple, but instead of the white sugar it calls for I swapped it with brown sugar and I think it made the sauce more rich and helped it caramelize better so it made a more sticky sauce to go on the mochi. The seaweed paper is optional if you wanna handle them by hand with less mess, so if ya dont have nori in your area its not super important! I did find my sheets at a walmart!

A 10/10 simple recipe that can be messed with to make more diverse flavorful combos and give a twist on potato recipes! No wonder the Galaxy team eats these and practically nothing else, go try it out yourselves if you have the time to do so! XD

At the beginning of the manga, you think 'oh wow Senshi is a little weird.' and then you think 'oh, Laios is a little weird too. That's why they get along.' But now I'm beginning to realize Marcille is a card carrying member of the Obsessed With Stuff freakshow, and that's why she's here. She pretended to be normal the whole time, but she's just as far gone in the rabbit hole as the rest of them.

Dungeon Meshi x Shibuya Station Collaboration

Currently, a promotion for the Dungeon Meshi anime is ongoing from March 1st to March 21st. Over 30 restaurants across various retail complexes in Shibuya (Tokyo, Japan) are offering 36 meals corresponding to recipes featured in Dungeon Meshi. Each meal comes with its own recipe cards, and combining four cards creates illustration of Laios, Senshi, Chilchuck, and Marcille hanging around the Hachiko Statue (which is set right outside Shibuya Station). The first 100 people to order also get a special frame to put their recipe cards in.

Spring 2024 Anime Review

I didn’t watch that many anime this season, but here’s my review nonetheless ^_^

Train to the end of the world: 10/10

I don’t know how to describe it. Whatever you think will happen next, that’s not it. It’s so weird (in a good way) and unpredictable. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I loved every second.

It’s also a really beautiful friendship story.

If you watch one anime from this season, make it this one.

An archdemon’s dilemma: how to love your elf bride: 10/10

Yes, I’m giving another 10.

Yes, the title is stupid.

But the anime is so good!

They’re so sweet and lovely, and it’s not just generic romance, there’s a lot of substance, world building and backstory too.

I liked all the side characters aswell.

So if you’re not watching shuumatsu train, watch this one.

Dungeon Meshi: 9/10

Do I even need to say anything? Has anyone not watched it? XD

It’s great, it’s fun, it’s deep, it’s unpredictable.

I’m deducting one point for not showing the nutritional value of the recipes like the do in the manga.

Wind Breaker: 8/10

It came so highly recommended, I was afraid it would be another Solo Levelling situation (if you don’t remember, that really didn’t live up to the hype for me).

But I was surprised, because this one is good.

That first scene with the tightrope had me hooked, and omg Sakura is such an amazing, complex character.

Yes, it’s a shonen, fighting anime, but it has depth and substance (and a lot of shipping potential ^_~)

It could have been a ten, but there’s Nirei. Yes, I’m deducting two points for him, he’s that annoying. I was hoping he might get better, but he didn’t. They even added a second character almost as annoying as him…

The New Gate: 7/10

The premise is basically Sword Art Online New game+.

I was surprised how good and innovative it is.

Yes, the animation is bad. Like, bad.

But if you can overlook that, the story is really good. I loved Shin and Schnee, and Wilhelm and Rionne are great too.

Could have done without Tiera though, and Yuzuha should have stayed a fox and not turned into a girl.

I hope there’s a second season, because that last episode revealed so many interesting things.

Unnamed Memory: Dropped

It sounded good, but I hate the “she says no, so he does everything to ‘convince’ her, and they end up together after all” trope, and it seemed to be headed it that direction.

I also couldn’t stand Oscar from the start.

I looked it up now to see if it’s worth picking up again, and apparently there’s a scene where he attempts to rape her as punishment for hugging another guy. And then she still falls in love anyway.

So yeah, I’m extra glad I dropped it.

From last season, I watched The weakest tamer goes on a journey to pick up trash (so good! 10/10), and High Card season 2 (definitely lived up to season 1, 8/10).

Let’s see what summer season brings! Recommend me things if you want! ^_^

Saw the unique merch ideas and wanted to throw out another thought, perhaps. Recipe cards? Or a recipe mini book? Chef applications or just recreations of recipes already in the manga? Either way very excited for this!

While we do think recipe cards are a wonderful idea, we will not be including recipes or chefs in our zine. This is to keep our project a manageable size and out of deference to other ongoing projects in that niche. However, rest assured we’ve found lots of other ways to incorporate the themes of Dungeon Meshi in our zine and merch. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas and we’re always happy to hear more!

i was reading dungeon meshi this morning while waiting for my shift to start and

spoilers ahead

i thought that showing falin's skeleton after they put it back together with the same style of like. recipe title cards they use when they finish cooking or crafting something was so so hilarious i had to put my phone away for a minute so I didn't start yelling at how funny that was. ok thanks :)
