Facebook comments are so much more conservative than anywhere else that it almost seems like a parody.

I can understand some people there saying the new Dunes cant compare to the brilliance of Dune 1984 🙄; I can even sort of understand them mocking Timmy's press tour outfits for being different (sometimes saying very uncool things about gender+clothing) 😒 but i just saw a whole new level of closed mindedness in a comment about how Florence Pugh could look like a sweet girl if she didnt have a nose piercing. Like, what the actual fuck! Piercings were rebellious and punk 50 years ago. Who's raising their eyebrows at tattoos and piercings on an artist in 2024?

Wanted to watch Dune 2 with my friends so watched Dune 1 (I have not read the book and have no idea about the adaptations as well)...but man I had some vacillating views.

Like at one hand I'm like this seems like the typical storyline of every dystopian world building (there's a person usually a teenager, absolutely unsuited to survive in the given world, yet only they survives while the stronger die as they navigate through the power of love, which is portrayed by a person with the personality of an unseasoned chicken breast, who's courageous and all that yet only purpose is to serve as the muse) and otoh I was blown by the cinematography (man the scene Jessica was walking in the tan gown and every scene in general).

I mean i do cut it a bit of slack cuz it's a work of the 50s and pretty revered...but like is it sci fi, of there are just random terms thrown and the rules keep on tweaking for the MCs...idk
