congrats on your milestone miss meg 🥺 for the sleepover event, what anime have you watched that left a memorable impression (like you still think about it months/years later)? for me it was fushigi yugi bc it was one of the first animes that ive watched as a kid and it makes me feel nostalgic thinking about the story, the characters, the funny moments and how i cried over it so many times yet it still holds a special place in my heart ☺️💞

there are so many anime to choose from omg, but i think a big one is still code geass, fairy tail, and gundam seed/seed destiny!

code geass was my first anime ever, and ugh, the nostalgia every time i hear ANY ost from it...watching it again after all these years still gives me the same impact as it did when i was a kid :’) and the ending!! the ending still holds up TO THIS DAY, i don’t think any anime has managed to give me the feelings the code geass r2 finale did :’’)

fairy tail is honestly just pure nostalgia haha. there are some flaws with it, i admit, especially at the end, but watching it as a kid was just so fun, and i think it really excelled at making the viewer feel like they were a part of the guild! the music slaps, all the emotional beats still hit, i still rewatch scenes to this day and cry sdflksdjf (a special mention to naruto as well, i never rewatch bc its just,,,so long,,,,but every time someone mentions a scene i just go “YUUUUUUHHHHH”)

ok looking back i can’t stand watching like, ten episodes of gundam seed because kira,,,,,,kira as a protagonist just ISN’T it. like, code geass is just a darker, better version of gundam seed & seed destiny, but the ost SLAPPED my goodness. every time an opening or ending starts playing i get super nostalgic. all hail tm revolution and yuki kajiura on their godly work on that gundam franchise.

special mention to the fate series!! it doesn’t really have that same nostalgia factor but every time i think about the characters and the conflict and the absolute hopelessness of fate/zero to the subtle optimism of fate/stay night with shirou as the protagonist...the fate franchise is so sexy you guys, but once you go in you can never come out. good bye my money, you shall be missed 😔😔

Bleach: Don't kill me Tina but I gave this anime 4 or 5 tries and always dropped it during SS Arc and when I finally pulled myself together to watch all 366 episodes... did not expect to love it this much - blessed be the Hueco Mundo Arc <3

Idolish7: I'm more of a shounen fan, so I really didn't expect to like this anime. I might have watched it out of boredom but man, this is my comfort anime now.

Full Metal Panic!: It's been 10 years since I saw this but man, I do remember enjoying this so much. Immaculate opening too <3

Sword Art Online Alicization & War of Underworld: After pretty much disliking season 2 that was soooo unmemorable for me? Wow.

The 7 Different Carnatic Notes For Devarnas (And Why They Matter)

Let's first have a look at Swaras before moving on to  Sapta Swaras, commonly known as the 7 Swaras of music. Swara is a melody or note on an octave scale. Assume it is a multi-tiered structure. Shadja is the starting point and it is also called Tonic. There are positions of other notes that can be measured to specific pitches from floor level. These 7 notes are the base of Classical music.

Basically, 7-octave musical notes control whole Carnatic music and Carnatic music notes. These Sapta Swaras are thought to have arisen from Lord Shiva's "Dumru," which is a musical instrument. The following is a list of them:

Sa – Shadjama (Tonic)

Ri – Rishabha

Ga – Gandhara

Ma – Madhyama

Pa – Panchama (Perfect Fifth)

Da - Dhaivata

Ni – Nishada

The full names of these Carnatic music notes are sung after the sounds they make while speaking them, and they are the Carnatic music basics. Shruti says that once you've decided on the Tonic, the notes Sa (Tonic) and Pa (Perfect Fifth) stay fixed. They are referred to as "Prakriti Swaras." Each of the other five notes has two versions. As a result, they are known as "Vikruthi Swaras."

The importance of 7 different Carnatic music notes is as follows:

Mayamalavagowla: 

The principles of Raga, which is also known as the "Double Harmonic" scale in Western music theory, are traditionally used to teach Carnatic music vocals. People who have never heard Carnatic music may find it challenging at first to grasp the intervals of these musical notes. One can learn the complexities under the direction of the Guru (teacher/mentor).

Ascending: S R G m P d N Ṡ

Descending: Ṡ N d P m G R S

Shankarabharanam:

This scale is simpler to learn in the beginning. It also corresponds to major scales in Western Classical. They are as follows: 

Ascending: S R G m P D N Ṡ

Descending: Ṡ N D P m G R S

Indian Carnatic music vocal tradition always begins with Mayamalavagowla. Shankarabharanam is a prominent raga with many different types of bhajans and songs.
