Winslow Dumaine, a comedian, writer, and artist in Chicago, tweeted that he recently made a pilgrimage to the famous Chicago Rat Hole.

This is one of the Windy City's most famous tourist attractions, second only to the Art Institute of Chicago for drawing crowds.

The origins of Chicago Rat Hole are shrouded in mystery. Legend holds that while the concrete for this sidewalk at 1918 West Roscoe Street was being poured, a rat fell in, forever marking the sidewalk with an imprint of its own body. Other Chicagoans contend that it was a squirrel, not a rat.

I finally mounted it! It's "the extinction witch at the ruins of the sterilization bell" by Winslow Dumaine, part of his "Oracle Inimical" card deck series. This one in particular really resonated (har) with me, but I hadn't gotten around to mounting it until just now. Glad I can finally put it up! Now to do the same for my own arts and crafts...

En aquella penumbra donde caen las cosas nada tiene ya nombre cierto ni perfil neto. Disipada la forma ¿qué persiste del mundo? ¿sobre qué ignotas voces se cernirá la aurora?

El espanto voltea, se ceba del silencio que a las veces horada un insecto rascando, un lución que se escurre en la yerba mojada o algún perro fantasma preso de su cadena.

El hombre acongojado del ritmo de su pecho, acecha el avanzar de otra noche distinta que lo liberará de su antigua agonía, y suda falsa muerte bajo falsa mortaja.
