Hello Thea and peanuts, hope this is alright!!
Due to finances not financing (hurricanes decimating your region, house not selling as fast as planned BEFORE said hurricane, starting grad school, etc etc 🙄) I’m having to cancel our trip originally planned for Thanksgiving week to see Macbeth. I’ve got 2 tickets for Wednesday November 27 in the stalls.
Please, someone who will properly appreciate DT and this production buy these tickets off me 🥺 message me directly if you’re interested, or know someone who would be!!
I’m so sorry to hear this!! man that’s so much to be dealing with. I sincerely hope someone here wants to buy them

Yay hurricane 🙄
By now everyone knows that Ghost's Tampa and Jacksonville Rituals were canceled due to the storm. What some may not realize is the size and strength of this thing. It is currently a Category 4 that's 130 - 156 mph winds. Yes, that little blue dot is where I currently am. So far I've still got electricity, but who knows how long that'll last. We're under a hurricane warning until 1:15 this afternoon. Those of you in the path of the storm, be safe out there!

I don't like talking irl or politics here but wow, people are really complaining about the g*vt "not doing enough to evacuate" as if Floridians are going to listen in the first place. For the record, at least from a library worker's perspective, everyone is doing the best they can do.
Everyone's been on standby since Helene and have been keeping eagle-eyes on the storm. Hurricane Hunters have been sent out. Even here on east side, there are constant calls and emails for prep and potential shelter duty. Workers have been notified to sandbag and prepare and help others prepare. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. There are plenty more things I could say, but probably are things people complaining from other states don't want to bother to hear.
I can't speak for every county, but I can assure you that it is most definitely not the local government's fault if not everybody evacuates the path of the storm. 🙄 The fact of the matter is that mandatory evacuations have already been issued in effected counties. Tampa's county included.
Your real issue is that Floridians are buck-wild. We don't often get storms that cause us problems unless you life in the Gulf or in Miami and even then 9/10 times we simply do not care. I've seen people go canoeing down the street in a hurricane just because it's fun. If someone decides not to evacuate, that is entirely on them and their own free will. Not only is your local government doing the best it can, but it's also not your government's job to force you out if you don't want to leave. If you decide to stay due to your own stupidity and hubris that's entirely on you, I'm sorry to say it.
Anyways listen to your evacuation orders and take the storm seriously, Tampa folks, it's gonna be rough out there. And for the love of god if you are not from Florida or just want to blame everything on higher powers instead of a person's real and free will, maybe do some research into your evacuation orders, zoning, and your county's available evacuation shelters first before you start saying that your local government doesn't care and isn't trying to do its best. Something tells me you've never bothered to go to your local library to ask.

Fill up your bath tub, a clean garbage can, buckets, tupperware etc before it starts getting bad. This water can be used for cleaning stuff that doesnt need to be like completely sterile and flushing toilets. Plastic and chemicals from the containers can leech into the water so its not good to consume it.
I actually didnt know how to flush a toilet with no running water so heres a link https://www.ecopeanut.com/how-to-flush-a-toilet-without-running-water/
Consider getting a camping/emergency toilet if flooding has a risk of affecting the sewer system, or figure out some kind of toilet alternative like a hole in the backyard for the worst case scenarios (We once had a normal rainstorm that flooded everything so badly that the toilets literally wouldnt flush they just filled up. We've never had to use the camping toilet but its reassuring to have.)
Definitely definitely get a refill of ur meds soon. Call your dr or the pharmacy and see if they can give you extra for an emergency supply. Some of us on "😑🙄controlled substances" cant but it doesnt hurt to ask!
It is very important that you have a way to boil water. Bring water to a rolling boil for a minute to kill the bad shit in it. Dont use contaminated water to brush teeth or wash dishes.
Water can also be disinfected by adding eight drops of plain unscented household bleach (four to six percent strength), which is about 1/8 teaspoon or a dime sized puddle, per gallon of water. You can also get iodine or water disinfecting tablets wherever they sell like camping shit. (Source: https://www.floridahealth.gov/newsroom/2020/09/091720-risks-water-supply-due-storms.pr.html ) be sure to let it stand for a while (at least 30 minutes). We would let our bleach treated water sit overnight but idk if that actually did anything. It tastes bad LOL straining thru a coffee filter, clean towel, or paper towels might help. Let any cloudy water sit until the sediment settles and strain.
Start eating thru ur perishable food now to reduce fridge and freezer waste in case the power goes out
Also start buying supplies YESTERDAY that shit is gonna get cleared put within the next 5 minutes
Get something to do for when u have no power and are saving the battery on ur devices. Youll need to be able to do it by candle/lamp light and with no electronics. When we were little my mom had board games and go fish, shit like that. Uno is a good choice. So is taking naps lmao
Idk what the quality of buildings is like over there but if u think the roof might come off, get in your closet/bathroom with no windows. Put as many walls between you and the outside as possible. If you have a grill or lawn furniture or shit like that bring it inside or it will come inside through your window.
Keep ur important documents in a billion layers of ziploc bags and water proof protection and have them in your evacuation bag. Also, make sure that ur evac shelter or similar allows any pets you have.
If you think the storm is over but you have no way to check whats going on, stay inside for a while. You could be in the eye of the storm and the eye walls are the strongest part of the hurricane so u do not wanna be off your guard when it passes over you again. We went outside in the middle of the eye just to see what it was like once it was freaky
Sending love! Ive watched neighborhoods change dramatically with each hurricane for all my life. It always feels like the end of the world after a storm but you will rebuild. Community is especially important during these times. Having a relationship with your neighbors could mean sharing supplies, seeing who might still have water or power, getting updates from someone with a radio, or access to a generator to charge devices (shout out to my old neighbor randy with the generator the size of a hummer! How was he so rich?!)
HEY CALIFORNIA PEOPLE!
HURRICANE ADVICE FROM A FLORIDIAN!
Make sure you've got shelf-stable food and water for everyone in the house, including pets. The rule of thumb is a gallon per person per day. Freeze water bottles if you want cold water.
Make sure you have enough meds!
Make sure you have batteries, candles, flashlights, and a manual can opener.
Make sure your electronics, including backup batteries, are charged. Unplug things you don't want fried in case of a power surge.
Don't tape your windows, it doesn't help and you'll just be stuck scrubbing goo off of them later.
Put a mug of frozen water in it in your freezer with a quarter on top of it. If your freezer defrosts, the ice will melt and the quarter will sink and tell you you need to throw things out.
Get everything that's not nailed to a foundation out of your yard. That dead branch hanging on by a thread? Time to get it down (it was probably time to do that three days ago, but now’s better than never).
Park away from powerlines and trees if you can. Rain makes the ground soft and then trees fall over.
Have an evacuation plan to a shelter. Evacuate if they’re telling you to.
If you start to flood, don't go in your attic. You'll get trapped if the water rises too high and you can't hack through your roof. This happened to a lot of people in Texas and Louisiana. Get ON the roof.
Be safe, be well <3

Man I cant stop myself from being flabbergasted at just how worse it all continues to get and then shortly after something else is going on.
I literally cannot get to the doctor to get a fucking neuro referral because of one thing or another and I keep fucking up so my health is getting worse it seems by the day but I think im just exaggerating. I CANT go to the ER super late (questionable if at all on work days) because I NEED to keep my job, I am so happy and im finally completing my dream. I've already missed too many days since being hired I *absolutely* cannot miss any more unless it is an extremely serious emergency like a close family member dying or me being in the hospital for several days, things along those lines. But I've genuinely been trying so many various routes (and I've been trying to get past my debilitating phobia and anxiety attacks around immediate care medical centers but I havent been able to do it successfully sadly) and each time, EACH of the FEW times I was actually able to successfully find a dr/place and be able to book in to go, something magically moves or pops up right during when im supposed to be doing the appointment so I end up having to reschedule or cancel. I've avoided seeking care for so long and now that I want help I cant even get to physically see my/a doctor in person! And some fuckshits been going on at work which is nothing new at my company so thats stressing me out, and then today we get a past rent due for the month and if we don't pay in 3 days we are evicted. But my boyfriend has literally called 5 separate times since June 3rd to meet up with her to pay (because the app isn't set up yet 🙄 and they've owned the building for two months now.) And they. Wont. Answer. Or. Call. Back. So thats another SERIOUS thing on my fucking plate because he is currently between jobs trying really hard to find a new one so im the only one making money which is a struggle enough as it is without all this other shit added. This upcoming week genuinely feels like a hurricane coming from the distance towards me. The kids have been gone for 2 weeks for summer, so that's gonna be a big struggle to transition back, and then the two children who have the hardest time emotionally and socially (twins) also just moved into a new house so that will most likely add to potential behaviors. Not to mention my coteacher will be out of town all week so I have to be the main main teacher with a sub in who barely knows the kids or the classroom. And we have all the other center's kids starting after they closed their location, and I guess there is a LOT of behaviors and WE DONT HAVE OUR MHDB SPECIALIST AND THE COACH WILL BE GONE WE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE. I'm absolutely terrified of this upcoming week. I'm really worried it will have a serious effect on my health. I really really really am going to try so hard to go to the doctor to at the very least get access to a neurologist before Monday but God I do not know if I can do it. I feel so weak and pathetic, I've been telling my boyfriend over and over "oh im gonna go today" "oh im going after work" and then I cant do it. The anxiety attack is just to the level I cannot take it. I'm trying so hard and I dont know why it keeps getting worse, or how there keeps being ways for it to get more worse. I dread and fear and every synonym in English, what could potentially happen next.

“They are however often referred to inland seas by sailors due to their immense size and the fact that the weather out on them acts a lot like it does out on the seas (i.e rolling waves, sustained winds and strong currents, on top of that they also have distant horizons and are quite deep). They are positively treacherous even for experienced sailors.”
The Great Lakes are called “Great” for a reason, people. 🙄 But seriously, I live right next to Lake Michigan, & a lot of the storms that develop around/over these lakes are g*ddamn HUGE. Like, the size & strength of mini-hurricanes. You do NOT fuck around with these water bodies, unless you want to win 1st prize for a Darwin Award™️. Going by the available evidence, most of these disappearances can probably be chalked up to suicides, murders, nasty storms, &/or shoddy boat/plane-construction.

The Lake Michigan Triangle
Though not as famous or globally known as The Bermuda Triangle, the Lake Michigan Triangle legend also has a history of unexplained disappearances.
Stretching from Ludington to Benton Harbor, Michigan and to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the Lake Michigan Triangle has inspired numerous accounts of activity that are difficult to explain.
Thomas Hume in 1891: A schooner named Thomas Hume and its 7 sailors disappeared. No sign of the ship was ever found. There was an extensive search effort which failed to yield even a piece of driftwood
Rosa Belle in 1921: 11 people on the Rosa Belle disappeared and their ship was found overturned and floating in Lake Michigan. While it appeared that the ship had been damaged in a collision, no other ship had reported an accident and no other remains had been found
Disappearance of Captain Donner in 1937: On April 28, 1937, Captain Donner vanished from his cabin, after guiding his ship through icy waters. The Captain went to his cabin to rest, and about three hours later, a crew member went to alert him that they were nearing the port. The door was locked from the inside. The mate broke into the cabin, only to find it was empty. A search turned up no clues, and Donner’s disappearance remains unsolved.
The disappearance of Northwest Flight 2501 in1950: Northwest Airlines flight 2501, which was carrying 58 people, crashed into Lake Michigan. The plane was never found. At the time, it was the deadliest commercial airliner accident in American history. The pilot had just requested to descend to 2,500 “because of a severe electrical storm which was lashing the lake with high velocity winds” when the plane disappeared from radar. To this day, the plane wreckage has not been found, and the cause of the crash remains unknown.
Over the years, the legend of the triangle has grown and many UFO or “strange bright lights” sightings have been reported in the area.
