This was a duel with no win! It hurt both Tazaki and Asaka to finish it. There was no victory! I haven’t felt like this since Soulburner vs Roboppi! 😭😭😭

So... episode 95... happened...

I... wasn't expecting it to... be like this.... goddamn...

Third Go Rush and Bridge episode to ever make me physically cry. The first was Nyandestar sacrificing herself for Manabu, the second was Kuaidul's death, and the third was... I guess the ending of this episode. It was... sort building the entire episode. This episode does a really good job at making you feel the loss of so many lives in such quick succession even if it obviously can't show all 8 million of them. This felt as though I was witnessing a widescale tragedy of the swift extinction of this species, which is exactly what it set out to do. Even though we didn't know any of these characters personally (apart from Nishaw who I'll get to), just seeing them work themselves to death was enough to leave an impression and paint a picture of who they were... it's... brilliantly agonising.

I still have some problems with the setup. From the summary, I had a problem with Valvelgear wanting to keep their deaths secret at all and Tazaki of all people helping to keep it secret but I think the episode did manage to explain those things in a way that made enough sense for me to be okay with them. Honestly Valvelgear insisting their deaths would burden Yudias too much and Tazaki getting involved and having to bear the weight of this knowledge he has to keep secret due to sheer coincidence upped the tragedy even more and is a point in this episode's favour.

My only remaining problem personally is the way Asaka ends up involved. I think Tazaki asking her to replace the people in Valvelgear with some of her employees is a pretty big leap in logic that the episode didn't explain very well for me. It still felt just like Asaka was the one involved because of the Sevens parallel.

That being said, it's basically my only problem with this otherwise masterpiece of an episode. And the ultimate payoff of Asaka keeping a similar secret about Dudi Nishaw and his fleet was genius and well worth a bit of contrivance to get us to that point. This episode is so thematically and emotionally on point that I can forgive its story flaws.

Like I said in its own designated post, this parallel is genius:

It's a good message on its own and I love the way this theme ties in with the earlier statement about Dudi's character: that while he struggles to make decisions, he always ultimately makes the right one. With these words, he proved that further, even though he may not even know exactly why these words were so meaningful. It's brilliant. This episode got me so much more attached to Tazaki, Asaka, and Nishaw than I ever was before.

Asaka and Tazaki know that their decision to keep all these deaths a secret is the wrong choice but they're making it anyways to respect the last wishes of Valvelgear and keep Yudias from losing hope. They are making a wrong decision for the right reasons and I genuinely love that. I don't think it's a flaw in the storytelling whatsoever. I think it's great that they're allowing these characters to be flawed and make poor decisions because it adds depth to their characters and complexity to the narrative.

Overall, this is the kind of episode I was waiting for from this arc: something that fully explores this narrative and captures the weight of it that the previous episodes were missing. This story needed an episode like this and it delivered.

ドッチ・ジャーニー・ショウ！ Which Way the Book Turns!

This is a pun-laden name from Dudi again. It can be romanized literally as "Which Journey Shall/Shows!", but it is also a play on 書 (sho), which can sometimes be used to refer to a book - like the one Dudi is reading in the card art.

I just tried my best here; I'm sure there's a punnier name that makes me go "oh my god why didn't I think of that" once YGOrg puts their article out.

お前の中でこれがしの自我を保つのは難しそうだ "Your body is unable to sustain my ego."

Clarifying here that Kuaidul means this in the sense that if he merges with Yuudias, something disastrous will occur... to Yuudias. He is willingly undoing the fusion, or reversing it, so that it doesn't harm him.

He is "letting go" of Yuudias of his own volition.

種の寿命が尽きようとしている "Our species is approaching the limit of our lifespans."

More accurately, Kuaidul is trying to say "our species is going to exhaust our lifespan", as in "use up" or "run out", but I couldn't think of a way to word this that had the same finality as limit.

It is very much with a finality that Kuaidul says this. Interpret as you wish.

Some other easter eggs

In order for Shewbahha's card to activate, Yuudias had to send Leviaknight (Phaser's card) to the grave - kinda like giving Shewbahha something to eat!

Nyandestar's Cat Claw Girl is the last obstacle that everyone must overcome, which is fitting considering she was the first ever card created by Kuaidul

Similarly, the last people to give Yuudias the ATK boost he needs are some of the first people he ever met upon arriving on Earth... Yuamu and Yuuhi!

Dudi Nishaw, though he's part of the Dudi Ducasse, is in fact a Velgearian... due to how he's supposed to be one of the three "factions" fighting in the Velgear Star Cluster. You can sort of think of the term "Velgearian" as both a species identifier and a nationality. Dudi is a "Velgearian" species-wise, but he is Dudi Ducasse in terms of nationality. Hope that makes sense!

The "Andromeda-Milky Way collision" is a real thing that is projected to happen... in the next 4.5 billion years. According to Wikipedia, it's actually not going to cause much damage to either galaxy or the stars within it at all, due to how far apart each individual star is. In fact, by the time this happens, all life on Earth would've been wiped out about 3 billion years ago anyway due to the Sun's growing instability

In Mahayana Buddhism, which Japanese Buddhism is derived from, a "bodhisattva" is someone with "a spontaneous wish and compassionate mind to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all" - does it sound familiar? It's Yuudias offering his body to Kuaidul even despite all of the wrongs he has committed.

I guess we now know why the ED is titled "Song of Departure"

Go Rush will be taking a break on New Years weekend and will not air an episode then! The next episode will be on January 7th.

As well, the entameSubs team will be on vacation for the next two weeks. I will be in Japan! That means episode 91 will be massively delayed until I get back.

There will be a dedicated announcement post of the vacation in a day or two, just so people are aware.

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for Go Rush season 3, now that we know that's a thing that's happening! It has always been something I wanted because I adore this show to bits... but I was so convinced we would be moving onto the next series already.

But here we are! The voice actor of Yuudias, Arthur, said that this third year was only possible "with [the fan's] support" - so it's wonderful and heartwarming to know Go Rush is very well received.

This is one of my favorite episodes of all of Yu-Gi-Oh! as a whole. I have not cried at a finale or even any episode like this since ZEXAL aired Nasch vs Yuuma ten years ago.

I leave you with a quote from one of my favorite games that applies word-for-word to this episode. Just replace "Ardbert" with "Yuudias".

go rush episode 63 spoilers

phaser's secret is revealed

i'm going to be putting these here now. they're very funny

i missed the first minute but. uh copyko and some MIK grunts are chasing ranran and damamu, who escape

phaser faces yuudias and points at valvelgear and threatens some aliens ig. yuudias gets angy

somewhere else, ranran stares at the ohdo cards and has a talk with damamu about carding and nyandestar

meanwhile back with yuudias hes still having his dilemma BUT damamu comes to him in a vision(?) and tells him about how they can reverse the carding or some shit and YUUDIAS' EYES GO FUCKING RED

i missed some stuff but they duel and phaser summons his non-maximum monster from phaser v yuuga i think. yuudias topdecks overtrain/fullsteam and destroys that monster. RAINAC RETURNS and phaser tells some MIK grunt to fucking blast off the jersey brothers into space

meanwhile(again) we see myuda dinois and manabu's shenanigains again. some sword lookin ass ship drags zaida velgear off ig

phaser summons kraken, uses his effects, and equips him with some tentacle tip drill thingys.

with tremolo and the skyfish in jail, tremolo gets a flashback of his and phaser's past on some barren wasteland

MIK releases 2 aliens in a mall while doverap watches and flies off to go tell yuudias what he saw

the UTS adults get a pep talk from galixon and see that aliens are getting along with humans.

SHEWBAHHA'S HERE and brings DUDI NISHAW and sics insert green energy blast on phaser to turn him into chinese dragon thing.

the card showcase is on the equip and yuudias duels a legit dragon. we get some possible zwiyuudi stuff and a sus scene of the carded people
