Jason carefully picked up the core after Bruce left and looked over it, inspecting each and every inch.

“Thank you”

“So you can speak!” Jason said incredulously.

“Takes a lot” a small barely audible reply entered Jason’s mind. “But I will heal eventually.”

“Then rest up kid, only let me know if there’s something you need okay?”

“Okay”

Jason stayed in the manor carrying around this stone they got from patrol a few weeks ago. If he was not holding it was sitting on something soft within his reach and line of sight. His family grew more and more concerned as the weeks went by.

Tim began to preface the goals of the family meeting regarding Jason’s behavior.

“Okay it is clear to everyone here that ever since Jason got that weird rock on patrol he’s been acting different. I thought we could all corroborate our experiences”

Damian piped up “I saw him speaking to it as if it responded to him. He spoke to it and waited in turn” Damian then took some time to consider his words. “He then looked at me quizzically as if I were acting strange.”

Alfred then spoke as his brows knit together “I saw young master Jason with the old children’s book titled Mog’s birthday. I thought perhaps he was enjoying it for the sake of nostalgia as I used to read it to him when he was a child. I soon found myself mistaken. He was reading it aloud to this ‘core’”

“Has anyone noticed that when we discussed the organization behind this attack Jason just gets up and leaves?” Tim questioned

Dick nodded along with everyone “One more thing. He was singing to it. I haven’t heard him sing since…”

The rest went unsaid. Bruce needed to confront him. Perhaps this power source was more than he realized. If he had led his son to being mind controlled after everything that happened to him he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself. He had to get to the bottom of this quickly.

Jason made his way to the dinner table chatting idly with the core in tow.

“Hey kid, one thing to know about Alfred is that he’s the coolest guy you’ll ever meet, he was the one who got me into some of my favorite hobbies.”

“And my old man, usually is such a pain in the… uhh yeah, he never really trusts me with important things off the battlefield until he trusted me with you.”

A light laugh floated up from the core “I’m important?”

“Of course you are, you’re a kid! I may be a scary gunslinger but I still want to protect the innocent”

“You’re welcome. You’ve been rather talkative today do you feel any better?”

“Yes! I might be able to”

“Jason, please sit down.” Bruce called out to him

Jason sat down a little annoyed since Bruce interrupted the child. looking at all the worried faces cooled his anger as Bruce began to speak.

“Jason have you noticed that your behavior has been significantly different as of late?”

“I mean yea but”

Before Jason could finish his sentence the core glowed with ice blue light and floated out of his reach.

“KID?!? TALK TO ME WHATS GOING ON?”

His answer came in a white haired glowing little boy in a black and white hazmat suit falling towards the ground, whom Jason caught easily.

This family of crime fighting detectives had never looked so surprised. Dick dropped his forkful of spaghetti onto his lap as he stared.

And maybe how daddy! Chan sulks when his little one stops telling him about their day or lessens it due to one or the other reason so his very strong caregiver headspace makes sure his little love is feeling all loved and protected and coaxes them lovingly and gently out of whatever bothers them, even if its something daddy did and all's good ♡♡

Then came the questions. Every second of every day Chan was asking you questions. What did you do today? Did anything happen? Are you okay? Are you sure your okay? Are you sure you are sure you are okay?

Finally it became all too much! You knew daddy liked communication so you did just that.

"Daddy, can we talk?"

His heart raced and he couldn't read your expression.

"Always cubbie, what is on your mind little one?"

"Why is daddy weird?"

Oikawa leans his head against the wall against which the bathtub is recessed. The golden rays of the afternoon sun cascading through the open window above him, spilling across the bluish tiles of the room, turning them into shimmering mirrors that reflect the dance of light, transforming the bathroom almost into a sanctuary. With his long legs dangling over the edge, Oikawa gently swings them as he hums, his eyes fixed on the ceiling.

He thinks about how long it will take to forget the patterns that decorate it.

Then, the tranquillity is interrupted by the sound of wet footsteps approaching, accompanied by the gentle spill of water from the tub as another body joins him. Oikawa smiles and looks down as a darker, more pronounced leg, submerged up to the knee, rests on his thigh. He likes the contrast of their skins, the warmth they share each time they connect.

"And you have the audacity to complain about me when I take too long to rinse" He playfully taunts, lifting his gaze to meet Iwaizumi's. He too leans against the wall, his head tilted towards him, a soft smile gracing his lips.

Hajime has always been handsome. But now, with damp hair falling over his forehead like when he was a kid, cheeks kissed by the warmth of the bath and August sun and emerald green eyes sweetened by sunlight, he is ethereal.

Tooru thinks about how long it will take before he misses Iwa-chan's gaze.

"Do you forget that you came in ten minutes before me?" He gently taps Oikawa’s knee with his and Oikawa rolls his eyes amusedly.

"Details, Iwa-chan."

And silence opens up between them, soft and comfortable. Oikawa hums again, taking Iwaizumi's hand as he gently places it on his thigh, palm up. Tooru's smile widens as he slowly intertwines their fingers, fascinated by the way they fit together.

Oikawa thinks about how long it will take to forget the warmth of Iwa-chan's skin.

They stay like that a little longer, listening to the echo of birds in the distance and the trickle of water. Years ago, when they were so small that the bathtub looked like a swimming pool, the silences had been filled by childish laughter between the "Oh, no, Hajime-chan, Zilla-chan sinking, Alien-chan to the rescue!", "Code 1-4, flying saucer sunk!", "Put the bang-bang down, Hajime-chan, I have a rubber duck and I'm not afraid to use it!" and the "Water volleyball bomb, everyone take cover, Tooru!", "Ha, a duck is no match for my water bang-bang!", "No, Tooru, watch out for the Aliens, they're the traitors!", by brute splashes of water that tried to simulate tsunamis, by the volleyball hitting the tiles, by the shrill quack, quack of the rubber ducks.

And it’s fine, because now they know how to control the volleyball as an extension of themselves, the rubber duckies are safe with Takeru and Godzilla is safe too from the water on Hajime's shelf next to the toy aliens. But there are moments when Tooru would give his soul not to grow up, to halt the march of time.

Because sometimes it is not easy. Because it’s frightening to be an adult. Because it's scary to know that the weight of responsibility now rests squarely on your shoulders, and that future you thought was unreachable is already there, about to collide with your present.

Oikawa thinks about how long it will take him to get used to Argentina without his parents, without his sister, without his nephew, without his Hajime.

"Do you... Do you think we can handle this?" He whispers, too weak for his liking.

Two days left until Hajime flies to California. Four for Tooru to fly to Argentina.

Oikawa thinks about how long it will take for his heart to break, whether it will be when Hajime leaves or when he does.

Iwaizumi doesn't respond immediately, but instead, he tenderly squeezes their clasped hands and lets out a sigh. Though they've broached this topic countless times before, the lingering fear still hovers, a constant presence breathing down their necks with a cold breath.

"Yes" He says, with no trace of doubt in his voice, like all the other times. But this time, he keeps talking, his words serving as a balm to Oikawa's trembling heart. "Because it's you and me. I can't promise eternity, for none can foresee the future," he turns his head and Tooru takes a deep breath before doing the same and meeting his gaze, intense, warm and full of serenity " but I can vow to give you my all, as I have for eighteen years."

There's an earnestness, an honesty, a steadfastness in his words that causes Oikawa's smile to bloom once more, genuine and tender, his eyes shimmering with emotion, cheeks mirroring the flush of Iwaizumi's own.

Oikawa thinks about how long he will stop loving him and immediately knows the answer: never.

"If you take more than two months to visit me once I've settled in Argentina, I'll consider it infidelity and report you to your mom" He says, but there's no warmth behind his words and Hajime's deep laughter rumbles in the bathroom.

"You're really insufferable"

Tooru playfully sticks out his tongue before leaning in to finally meet his lips, yielding to the tender pressure of Iwaizumi's soft, full lips before he laughs softly against them as a large, reassuring hand envelops his waist with eager impatience.

The pack share a secret stuffed duck that is a comfort duck hidden from Chan. The duck gets rotated through the weeks or if someone is having a bad day they automatically get the duck. Now what special about the duck is that it’s 1) refreshed weekly with a little bottle of Chan’s cologne that has to travel with said duck and 2)it has one of those voice recording messages inside of it that sings the rubber ducky song Chan loves. (I took literally a 15 minute break while writing you this cause I got sucked into how cute this man is)

The pack has done a great job of keeping it to themselves until someone has to go away. I’m imagining Minho has to go somewhere else in Korea for a dance workshop so the pack is gonna go see him off at the train station. Halfway there Innie starts freaking out demanding them turn around.

“Channie hyung you don’t understand. I messed up and forgot to place something back into Minho hyungs suitcase. We have to go back.”

See Minho, who normally passes over his turn for the duck, packed it away for himself last night. But Innie had a rough day and class and lent it over under the grounds he would slip it back in before they left.

Once he completed his reps for the day he made his way to the shared bedroom. He couldn't help but coo at how peaceful you looked. He felt you get in and out of bed a few times last night so he was glad that you got any sleep at all. You did look a little pale compared to your normal self but he didn't give it much thought. Chris made his way into the bathroom and started the shower. He doesn't know what made him look but he was glad he did. Halfway hidden in the waste bin was your underwear with a bloodstain. It all made sense to him now, his poor baby needed him. A quick shower would have to do for now.

Once dried off and changed Chan made his way to slowly wake you. When your pretty eyes fluttered open he could see a glint of sorrow. Behind it thought was a little flicker of joy, he just needed to bring it out.

He grabbed your favorite heated stuffie and warmed it up. He checked to make sure it wasn't too hot before returning to you.

He takes on the role of the detective's forensics team, who works really closely with the detective. His personality is much more open and he gets really eager in some aspects of the show. Over all takes care of the team with his "mom" energy.

MK is a dog trainer to the K9 officer/actor in the show. He is a bit more shy and timid but is much more open to the immortal monkeys and the dog. He helps around in the background and helps the actors with their lines. He is overall a helpful eighteen year old kid who is excited to meet his favorite two actors.

Mei is one of our tech members of the department and an actor. She helps with the cameras and following the digital foot trail of the victims. She is very handy with fixing and following them. She is also one of those badass officers and is overall a bubbly person unless you piss her off.

Red Son is the other tech member of the team and an actor as well. He pushes the team into different leads and thinks outside of the box a ton. He is a strategist at heart and it shows in his acting. He always pushes the thread as to how far he can push the directors.

Pigsy is the captain of the department and an actor. He is a stern actor though and most of the time, he isn't really acting just being himself. He does loosen up but very rarely. Hopefully that might change.

Sandy is part of the forensic scientists team and an actor, helping document and move things as well as give the main team help. He doesn't get a big part in the show but is often helpful off the camera.

Tang is a part of the forensic scientist team and an actor, he does what Sandy does too but also helps with the more historical side of it. He is full of stories and I kinda push the more "NCIS character Ducky" attitude with him.

Now for the OC's of the show/gang:

The K9 Officer: A dog shapeshifter who became friends with MK. Her name is Luna and she was moved from America to China due to a high demand of show dogs for movies. She was moved when she was fourteen and met MK when he was 15.

The Autopsy Personel/Actor: A human named Chan, who is a hard worker. Her eyes are a greyish blue and she became an actor after working in the medical field after two years. She is skilled and can help the audience with explaining what happened.

Shadowpeach: The show ships them hard and so does the general public.

Freenoodles: The show ship that also became a general ship.

DragonFruit: A ship in general that became another ship on the show.

3. What's been your most popular fic this year?

oh it was definitely my beomgyu drabble mine !! it was the fic that got me a ton of my followers and it's my first post to reach 1k and 2k+ notes which was super exciting :')

LMAOO i don't think i remember half the things i google while in the moment tbh 🤣 but i vividly remember going down the rabbit hole of cheerleader positions and stunts for this one wip bc idk what any of that cheer stuff is called (´Д⊂ヽ and i think soon i'm gonna need to spiral down the dance rabbit hole too @_@ like figuring out waltzes and tangos and what that one dance intak did for isac :')
