Egalitarian, ecological and peaceful cultures that acknowledge and honor our interdependence with the Earth, the Cosmos and all of life. Spiritual cultures led by Womxn priestesses, where non-binary persons hold significant and magical roles. Cultures where the Womxn is worshipped as a powerful creatrix/destructress, and where time is a cycle of birth, death and rebirth. A culture at the very dawn of humanity, when “God was a woman, do you remember?”⁣ ⁣ 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘦 is an exhibition inspired by early Neolithic Goddess idols, where the female figure is often seen displaying Her large, magical vulva. These sacred figures embody and enact an empowered, magical female sexuality, emblematic of fertility. In ancient matrifocal cultures, we find the earliest form of abstraction where female genitalia are represented by The Sacred V- a motif found in Garcia’s work. In Garcia’s drawings the female genitals are displayed as geometric cosmologies similar to mandalas, yantras or sacred sites seen from above, and operate as meditative tools, devotional objects, and portals to inner experience. In this exhibition the artist shares a representation of the female form that challenges the historical narrative and instead enacts the numinous power of female sexuality. I had the opportunity to speak and interview Osceola Refetoff today about his latest photographic work “High & Dry” in DTLA Chinatown. “High & Dry: Land Artifacts,” an exhibition comprising work by writer/historian Christopher Langley and photographer Osceola Refetoff. This exhibition will go up on May 12th from 4-6pm at the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) in Lancaster, CA. Osceola’s work has a cinematic reference to them that’s derived from his love of black and white films and film makers like Fritz Lang, Orson Welles and Jean-Pierre Melville. wurstküche

I am on hunt for some really tasty hot dogs (I lived in Chicago for almost a decade, so not surprising).  

I came across Wurstküche from watching an episode of Worth It.  I will probably go try Vicious Dogs, but still undecided on that $169 hot dog ...

Anyways ...  Wurstküche is located in the Art District right down the street from Salt & Straw, which was the ice cream place I featured for Halloween.

The front is a bit small, but they actually have this huge back room that is great for groups.  When I went, it wasn’t too crowded, but if you are afraid of lines, they take reservations online.

For a first time visitor, I went for their brats and also their kielbasa and it was extremely satisfying. Every bite was just very full and meaty with all the tastes of a classic hot dog.  I usually like a little more out-of-the-box, but I haven’t tried their exotic hot dogs yet, so I will be sure to post up on my instagram (@thefoodronin) when that happens (and it WILL happen).

With their large selections of meats, Wurstküche is a nice place to revisit.  To top it off, the location is really convenient, since after you are done with your hot dog meal, there are lots of places to explore in the Art District.
