@drmcperky || starter call.
carina walks quietly through the hospital halls. she’s still getting used to the place, her little brother only telling her bits and pieces, as if he’s hiding the secrets in the halls. she doesn’t put it past him with how frustrated he is with her. something that only makes her smile. what kind of big sister would she be otherwise? her day with her research went well, coat in hand as she walks, spying arizona out of the corner of her eye, taking a turn down the hallway to see her. “arizona.” the greeting is soft and smooth, accent thick, a smile on her lips. she’s fine ending things, even if she doesn’t quite understand why. the sex was good and she would know. “we can speak, yes?”

“ i just- i can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong. ” there was a small shake of her head before she continued. “ according to my o.b. there isn’t anything to be worried about, but still i have this gut feeling that something’s wrong. ” lexie shifted on the exam table, worry written across her expression. “ i know doing ultrasounds on anxious moms isn’t your job, but i was wondering if you’d do one for me anyway? ”

SHE NEVER thought they’d be here. Sitting next to each other on the beach, with their toes tucked into the sand. Sofia was in bed, sound asleep in her new room where as she and her wife were currently seated on the beach, side by side. They’d been living in Los Angeles for only a week now, they’d both be starting their new jobs at St Amrbose next week and she was excited for it. The fresh start, the change of scenery.. their future. Looking at the brunette, Arizona frowned “ Tell me.. what does your wine taste like? Your child is making a bouncing castle in my stomach and it’s really annoying and I need a distraction.” the blonde spoke as she rubbed her expanding stomach. She wasn’t huge but they were at the stage where she could feel Baby Robbins Torres moving AROUND.

’ is it true? does sofia want to move home? ‘ although lexie knew that it was none of her business, the younger grey could not help but to ask the question. after all, sofia was another connection to the man she LOVED and lost after their plane had crashed years ago. ‘ you must be so excited!! ‘

“ i did not steal those meds. i have adhd, okay? i have a prescription for that. ” prescription or not, that didn’t explain the three brand new packages of adderall in her bag. which was precisely why lexie was trying to divert the attention elsewhere. “ you think you might be a little prejudiced? because of the tattoos and the piercings and the hair? ”

Minnick felt as though her time here at Grey Sloan Memorial had been wasted. She was hired to do a job — her job — a job she was good at ; and then she was fired for doing said job, the way she was supposed to. The education consultant felt a little humiliated seeing as the only people she won over were the residents ( because they were getting to perform more surgeries on their own ) and Arizona… but she was sleeping with her, so that hardly counted. And it was embarrassing to have to tell Arizona that she’d been fired. This has never happened to her before. Normally, she could win people over pretty easily — but here, she was barely even given the chance.
After gathering her belongings, Minnick is ready to head home and drink an entire bottle of wine all by herself, however, she once again runs into Arizona on her way toward the elevators. Christ —- this was deflating her ego and making her feel super inferior right now, ❝ I’m sure your friends will be very pleased to know I’m not going to be around anymore. ❞

as teddy stepped foot into the hospital, she was on a mission. this time it didn’t involve owen or megan. no, right now it was all about arizona & her need to blurt out what happened the previous night. teddy’s foot slipped in between the elevator doors to squeeze in & get next to her friend. luckily for her, she was the only one in the infamous elevator. ‘ owen kissed me last night, ’ she says without warning or greeting. there was no time for that -- not when it was something this major. @drmcperky ( sc. )

@drmcperky / SC.
Tired eyes blinked open and she yawned. She’d almost pushed the button for pain meds, for some reason her head was killer but, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She’d didn’t want the small amount that Owen had talked her into taking in the first place. Licking her dry lips, Amelia reached for her water in the dark and took a sip as her eyes adjusted to the darkness, squinting when she saw a shadow in the doorway. It was clearly Arizona, that much she could tell and from the expression shadowed on her face she was definitely looking the slightest bit emotional. “ Are you gonna come in, Robbins? Or are you just going to stand there watching me sleep ?? If you’re going to cry though, you can go. I’ve seen enough tears for my life time. ”

“If you bite your lip one more time, I’m going to do it for you.”
At first a hint of surprise crossed Eliza’s lips, but it was soon replaced a mischievous smile. “Oh?” Casually leaning against the wall behind her, her head tilted to one side. For only a moment she averted her gaze, then her eyes flickered upward once more, intently holding Arizona’s gaze. “Is that a promise?” she asked, voice slightly lower than usual. Without waiting for a response, she opted to find out for herself, her eyes still fixed on the blonde as she slowly tugged her lower lip between her teeth.

Seven years. It had been seven years since Alexis had been officially stateside, wearing her civvies like the rest of the country. There was nothing defining her as someone who had served. She was currently like everyone else. If everyone else had PTSD from living in a warzone just trying to survive. Of course, this wasn’t the first time that she had been stateside, but it was the first time that she was without orders to be returning for another tour.
Alexis took the time that she had free of the US Army to head to Seattle in an effort to catch up with the one person she had left.
Arizona. It had been a friendship meant to be from the very beginning and now more than ever, she needed to cling to what she had left. Nick was gone and so was Tim. Neither of them had their big brothers. It was just the two of them now.

Fading to Dust
Send me ‘Fading to Dust’ for my muse’s reaction to watching yours die right in front of them.
When you actually stopped to think about it, life was a funny thing. Most children couldn’t wait to grow up and become independent, but then by the time they became a legal adult, a lot of them wanted nothing more than to be an innocent little kid again. People took so many things for granted that by the time old age sat in and they finally began to look back on their journey, it suddenly felt as if there was still so much left to be done.
Unfortunately, none of those feelings mattered for a certain PEDS surgeon. The once perky blonde was now running on borrowed time, and it didn’t take a doctor to see that it wouldn’t be much longer until her clock finally went silent. That was why she was in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by family and a small handful of close friends who had practically become family over the years.
Next to Arizona’s daughter, Sofia, set another blonde haired doctor who was doing just about anything and everything that she possibly could to keep herself from crying. It wasn’t working very well, but maybe everyone else would be too focused on the woman in the bed to bother noticing. About half an hour later once the others had finished saying their final goodbyes and the room was almost completely cleared out, the second generation cardiothoracic surgeon suddenly found herself at a loss for words. She’d made it a point to remind her aunt of so many different good times they’d experienced together over the years, and now she was drawing a complete blank. How typical.
“I umn… I don’t know if you can hear me right now, but I just wanted to say thank you.” Bottom lip already trembling, she swallowed the ever growing lump in her throat before continuing with her little speech. “Thank you for always being there whenever I needed you, even if it wasn’t exactly the most convenient time. It meant more to me than you’ll ever know that I could turn to you with even the darkest of thoughts and you wouldn’t ever judge or look at me any differently. I know your job was to save tiny humans on a daily basis, but you also saved a not so tiny one, too – countless times.”
What Delia would have done without Arizona in her life, she was glad she never had to find out. Well, at least not up until that point anyway. “You helped give me so much confidence, and you made me a better person with some of your wisdom. It’s true, you really did. I think my favorite was when I was about eight years old and we were at the zoo. You let me eat junk food, and you told me that popcorn and ice cream tasted to good for it to kill me.” After a little lighthearted piece of humor to lighten the increasingly depressing atmosphere, she could have sworn she caught a glimpse of the smallest of smiles on the dying woman’s face, even with her eyes closed and body almost completely still.
“I’m sure Sofia’s already taken care of reminding you what an amazing mom you’ve been, so I guess all that’s left to say now is that I love you. I love you so much, and I’ll never forget you. We’re going to continue that legacy you’re leaving behind, and –” Now she was getting too choked up to express much more. “Say hi to my dad for me when you get there, will you? Oh, and Aunt Callie, too. I’m sure she’ll be more than thrilled to finally see you again. Don’t forget to watch out for us when you can, okay? Between the two of us, we’re going to need all the help that we can get.”
With a gentle kiss on the forehead, Delia stood up from her chair next to Arizona’s bed and moved to pull her best friend close. As if on cue, the two girls began repeating a chant of sorts that they’d first heard as tiny humans when they were startled awake by a nightmare. “Bad dreams, bad dreams, go away. Good dreams, good dreams, here to stay.”
Repeat until flatline.
Time of Death: 6:54 p.m.

@strcngwomxn ♡ for a starter
SOME DAYS were hard. Harder than to what the blonde thought were even possible but, knowing that her girlfriend worked at the same hospital, meant that after a tough call, she’d have a place to dry her tears. Or rather, watch as she got drowned in them. Making her way through the halls, the blonde found herself standing outside the brunette’s office. She steadied herself for a brief moment before entering tearfully, thanking her lucky stars she was alone “ Please tell me you have a moment. I’m about TO CRY.”

“You look like shit.”
not-too-good starters | @drmcperky | accepting !!
“that makes sense, considering i feel like shit.” she’d just gotten back to america, having been sent home temporarily after the car bomb incident. it wasn’t permanent and she didn’t plan on visiting anyone -- she just needed a break. but when arizona had showed up on her front door, there was no way she could turn her away. sitting at the kitchen table, jj stared down into her cup of coffee. it was obvious she hadn’t been eating or sleeping properly. she couldn’t hide that from anyone. “i lost the baby.” only three people had even known about the baby -- will, matt and arizona.

"Well... Ya shouldn't have come over then," Charlotte whined as she flopped over in bed onto her stomach and buried her face in her pillow. "'Nd I'm not contagious," came her muffled continuation.
